Have you asked yourself if the innocents wont also be wrongly killed daily with that system. Logic friend, logic!!! 1 Like |

OVA200:Because that is their job. Even if the robber cant afford a lawyer, the Government will provide one for him. He has a right to be defended. Lets say in a case where you were wrongly accused of theft and the whole world scorns you. Wont you be glad to get a good lawyer who increases your chances of justice? Would you still support the reason that since everyone believed you did it, you have to be prosecuted? That is logic, brother. The fact he has a lawyer doesnt mean he will win the case. Criminals b4 him have been entitled to lawyers, so should he. He isnt different. |

jerryclinton:Even with his confessions, do you know he has to be represented in court? And he also needs a lawyer to even plead guilty, as you cant walk into a court and plead guilty for yourself. This isnt a military court martial. If you can transfer the guilt of money he's collecting from the kidnapper to him despite it being for his services. Will you transfer the guilt to car sellers, he has patronised? Food vendors he has bought from? Landlords he has rented from? Churches he has donated to? Possible humanitarian societies he has offered money? Where would you stop? He is a lawyer. He took an oath to defend his client and he is doing his job and paid for it. Evans, despite a criminal has the right to legal representation and he has gotten one. Whats the big deal about? I blame the media though who are trying to exploit the moral high horse of an average Nigerian. |

Ekinematics:You might be getting it wrong. In the United states, the undergraduate degree in medicine is awarded as M.D. or D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine). This is enough to practice medicine in the country. However post doctorate research are honored with MD-PhD. In Uk and most Commonwealth nations MBBS or MBChB is awarded to undergraduate after completion of medical school. This is EQUIVALENT to M.D. and D.O. used in U.S.A. Post Doctorate degree awarded is however called M.D. here instead of MD-PhD. Thus if you are awarded an M.D in UK or Nigeria e.g MD in Endocrinology, you are of similar rank to an MD-PhD in same field in US; while an MBBS holder in Nigeria is equivalent to an M.D holder in USA also. So like I said, no undergraduate attained MD is higher than MBBS. Thanks. |

Are we this ignorant in this nation. Jeez. We cant move forward, it's so obvious. He is a LAWYER, that is his job. JOB!!! He went through Law school for this (legal representation of clients). Even though I am in support of prosecution of the kidnapper, do you know he has the right to a lawyer? Even if he has killed millions. Using you guys logic, assuming he was shot during his arrest, the doctors who decides to treat him b4 being charged to court too is a criminal. Why do you guys view everything in a tribalistic lens? Your hatred for Yorubas is so unhealthy. I have moved from being irritated to actually pitying you guys. Pathetic 2 Likes |

We have no option (i think) than division because the agitation will grow bigger and cause a discord that will bring the country to its knee. Its sad as I used to love this nation. But who knows? Division might be a benefit. 1 Like |

3. I am cold inside. Lol....I feel like I am the medical version of Hitman. There are so many times (especially in the A $ E) when you see some patients and their conditions and you believe your reflexive action should be running away. However, I just feel NOTHING. Most of my mates would be either hiding or making funny faces. But my brother, me awill just be feeling cool. There was an example of a patient with DMFS and the leg was gangrenous and so bad looking. Trust me, it was bad looking. And smelly, very smelly. Most of my classmates, even seniors, stayed away from this patient. Mehn, i near am ooo. Even looked deep into the gangrene, seeing the bones and all. That leaves some questions unanswered: * Am I a Vampire? I cant be, cos I walk during the day (in sun) and I don suck blood (pfft). * Do I have an icy heart? For God sake, I did Anatomy. How can an iced heart pump out flowing blood to my organs. So canceled out. * Probably I am the Medical hitman then, a man with ice in his veins (Anatomy!!!!!!!). Funny!!! Anyways, Its a good one as I would learn not to get emotional with my patients. But does it make me a good doctor? * I'll think about it. 9 Likes |

2. Doctors and Nurses have an eternal beef. Well, this is not always the case but common, the tension is palpable. I dont know for certain, why this could be but I would make a guess its due to anger generated in response to the dominating nature of doctors. Most times, we the bottom of the food chain bear the brunt. The nurses shout at you for little mistakes. Scream at you for placing your bag somewhere. Almost tear you to pieces in situations you arent aware of you blocking their path. However, one has to be patient with them and humble, cos you learn alot from them. Especially how to develop a rapport with patients, how to dress wounds, give injections, phlebotomy and bed dressing. So nurses are our needed enemies (BCH-esque) LOL!!! 9 Likes |

pazienza:Sighs, you've got a whole lot of hate and tribalism in you there mahn. I just hope for your sake, you rid yourself of them. I am not ready for the 360 degrees argument with you. But I am always praying that the good Lord grant you guys your country. Every region existed and survived before 1914, we will all (including Igbos) survive beyond it. My advice is: rid your heart of hate and tribalism. Because when your country is achieved, you will direct the hate to your fellow Igboid brothers. Have a good night rest, bro. 3 Likes |

pazienza:Using your logic, then the civil wasnt fought against Nigerian soldiers by Igbos, as Victor Banjo was a part of it. So as much as a yoruba was in the Biafran army, it stopped being an Igbo struggle? Spare me. The fact Yoruba soldiers were involved doesnt change the motive of the coup and it was achieved. It was decades ago, so just accept and move on. Every region makes a mistake. Trying to avoid blame is however wrong. I am very sure if it were only Igbo leaders killed in that first coup, the anti-Igbo claims from you guys would have been top notch. You cant wipe out the political class of 2 major regions while leaving yours and expect anything less than suspicion. I know you care less but give it a thought. 3 Likes |

pazienza:Pulling speculations out of thin air and concocting them as fact. Delusion cant be more obvious than this. You said Ironsi wasnt a part of the coup plotters and yet he still appointed Fajuyi in charge of the West. He also avoided prosecution of the plotters. But Awolowo who was in prison (like I said, out of thin air with no fact) was shown to you by Superior Beings as the man behind the coup. You had no quote from anyone, no evidence. Just you imagining and coming to conclusion. I'm suprised at people arguing with you tho' as it is obvious you are arguing just for its sake. My point is: We believe you Igbos; you are the best and the saint of saints. Infact the other 200 and something other tribes are the problem. Only Igbos are intelligent and can make no error. The only period you people stop believing tribal superiority, thats when you can develop. God created all race and tribe equal. When a Yoruba man err, I will never support him but the trend i have noticed is Igbos prefer to play the victim. Someone raised an issue about the war (could be you). Are you saying those killed by the Igbo soldiers have no family members and wont hold grudges against them. Or only Igbos were killed during the war. Or was the war supposed to be an arm wrestling competition with generals hugging each good night before sleeping? Wars consume lives on both side. If you can forget that and move on as a region, then its sad. 5 Likes |

During the 4 weeks, I got some information: 1. Hierarchy is a serious business in medicine and we medical students are the bottom of the food chain. The food chain kinda looks like Consultant - Think the Lion, the Tiger, the boss, the King. When he's around; everybody gats behave or risk the abuse of your life or better get sent out (It is actually better) Senior Registrar - Think wolves, Cheetah, the Lieutenant, 2nd in command, Igbakeji Orisa (lol). When top boss arent around, he runs the show. But when he's around, baba gats be gentle. He's not above correction from the consultant, although that rarely happens especially in the presence of minnows like us. Junior Registrar - Think Stoke City (football lovers), the foxes and hyena of medical food chain. They are as mid-table as you can get. They have authority over House officers and students but are prey to the consultants and Senior Reg. However, there is a saying that most things you learn as a student in medical school, comes from the Junior Reg. This is because they arent too far to take a look at the bottom and they actually have lots of things upstairs (no offence, House officers *tongue out*). House officers (HO): Where do I start? People call them the dog of the hospital. Thats enough description but I'll bite more. Who runs the lab? HO. Who spends more than 100 hours in the hospital in a week? HO. Who is almost forever in the ward? HO. Who receives the most insults from Consultants? HO. Who is blamed for mishaps in the ward? HO. Who is meant to be everywhere and at all time? God (HO in the hospital tho). I pity these guys, they work their butt off. Well, they get paid, so wetin concern me sef? Students? Sighs...We are the definition of food in food chain. You see the HO up there has more mouth than us. We are the relegation candidates (football lovers); the Sunderlands and Swanseas. Hell, we play in Division 2. The students are further divided into subgroups: 600 level-----sabi small 500 level------still trying 400 level------who are they? Yeah, so during my CLS, i was a nobody in the hospital. We were just the back benchers. We dont go for ward rounds. We spend most time with the nurses and lab attendants. Choi!!! We were more fridge repairers than doctors...lol. But that would change in CLS 2 after the Block 1 PathPharm....cant wait Disclaimer: The fact I used 'He' to describe the medical positions above doesnt mean females arent allowed. It was just for generalisation. Sorry ladies...*smiles* 5 Likes |

Now my school runs an intercalated kind of calender from 400 level upwards, in which you tend to have short postings in Medicine and Surgery till you have your final posting in 600 level. Terrific right? YEAH!!!!! That means we get a taste of ward rounds, calls, outpatient clinic time etc. That sounds all sorts of fun. First week of December 2016, we resumed for an Introduction to Clinical skill (CLS) a.k.a Come, Look and Sign. It is actually a 4 weeks introduction to Medicine and Surgery, but it got that infamous alias due to medical students gaining absolutely nothing during the 4 weeks. We actually only looked and sign. NOTE: I wont be discussing much about activities during the clinical periods; as its against medical ethic. Sorry. 3 Likes |

Pharmacology Unlike the silly Pathology, Pharmacology is not branched. It deals with the study of the mode of action of drugs, as well as their uses and effects. Hence, we can all agree Pharmacology prepares doctors for disease management and Pathology for diagnosis. Thus, evert course in the medical school plays a function and role in the moulding of a complete medical practitioner. Each, contributing to the skills required for diagnosis, management and prognosis. I kinda like Pharmacology but mehn the course is so volatile, you need to read countless before it can stay.... 1 Like |
