See how Ideye go collect Torress jersey, wear am shap shap. |
Let's give it to him. Mikel is a world class midfielder. Chelsea is just dulling him giving him limited role to express himself. |
Nothing is wrong in blogging for money, we must get that clear. You can even make blogging a career. The American guy I mentioned above does blogging full time and that's what he earns his income from. We should however be creative about it, not copy-catting. |
Nice topic. I opened my first blog in 2009. It was basically to archive my political and other writings. I write many political and related articles, close to 30 in a year, published in newspapers. I realized the articles were scattered and didn't have them in one place. Sometimes I needed to google them to find. Some I don't know where they are today. So I decided to open a blog in 2009. I now have over 100 articles there. Later, earlier this year, I realized career is another aspect I have passion for. I have been active on NL career section since 2008, and I realize readers respect my opinions on issues. Also, in real life, I do advise a lot of younger folks on career and education. All these motivated me to open another blog to focus on career and mentorship. I enlisted a couple of respected friends to come write for the blog. I'm trying to poach Ajanlekoko and Debosky from NL career section too. Unlike my political blog, which is just to archive personal opinions, my career blog has a bigger perspective, beyond me. So I decided to give it better publicity. I did a little research and checked similar niche bloggers in other climes. My aim is to make the blog a go-to for articles and analyses bordering on career and mentorship in Nigeria. I want to be to career what Linda is to entertainment and Sahara Reporters (though not a blog, but a news site) is to politics. I believe I have what it takes. The major constraint is, as an 8-5 worker, its not been easy for me. But I know it's a matter of time. Unfortunately, entertainment is what sells most in Nigeria, so Limda, Bella and co are the biggest crowd pullers. In the process of researching I met an American blogger. What he blogs on is Christian Personal Finance. So narrow a niche you may say, but believe me the blog turns traffic in US and he now makes close to 1m per month. I don't reckon with bloggers that have less than 70% of their blog content as original. 95% of my blog content is original. Many bloggers are just copycats. In other climes, you can blog on anything and make a name and money for yourself. Huffington post is world's no 1 blog, followed, I think, by Mashable. Beyond the Linda-wannabe entertainment copycats, there are however a few Nigeria blogs that are doing fine. Jide of ogbongeblog.com is one of them. He blogs on tech and related stuffs. He is one of the few original-content filled blogs and his concept is creative. Overall, I still believe Nigeria is underblogged. |
jp philips: This Uruguay squad played the world cup and they won ghana by fraud, if soccer was mathematics then, Ghana may have won Nigeria if they met in the nations cupBurkina Faso beat Ghana Nigeria beat Burkina Faso Complete the equation. |

imperiouxx: Did you just say you or how many people have confidence in his ability? If I hear that again, I go slap your face 10X ! It's been long that this guy has been a pure useless id!ot.You can't be a bad striker and score 15 goals in French Ligue 1 and 17 in Ukrainian league. That was what gave me the confidence. |
laani: Mhuyil here @ Jarus.Hey ore. I was suspecting that handle belonged to you when I bumped into it in one thread sometime ago. Nice one sir. |
lacosteIII: THE MAIN REASON WHY NIGERIA DID NOT PLAY THEIR BEST IS BECOS THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT HELPING MATTERS AT ALL...THEY DON'T PAY THEM AS EXPECTED...SO, HOW DO YOU EXPECT THEM TO PLAY WITH ALL THEIR ABILITIES?...HOW DO YOU WANT THEM TO BE HAPPY...STUPID LEADERS OF NIGERIAMumu. |
DailyNews: so many reasons made me to disapprove Musa. One, he hardly give pass to his fellow; he thinks he can score alone when he is not an exceptional player like Lionel Messi, C. Ronaldo, Arjen Robben, etc, so how? He will be watching his mate standing free but will never pass the ball to him to score, but would rather waste it and endanger our backside. Fast pace isn't just the only skill a player (striker) needs. In fairness to him, he gives assists or attempts giving, only that the balls are usually intercepted most times before reaching the target player. |
Good clarification job, ACJ Ife. Our Great Ife shall never perish. |
yoged: how about sefiu alao and babatosibe obesere. Forget those players you mention. You guys are hyping rabiu ibrahim who cudn't win a regular shirt in 3 different club. He has depreciated, as in o ti yipin... I believe this confederation cup is just a lesson for us that'll make us brave up for the world cup. How did babatunde ended up playing for the super eagles? Very soon we'll see Baba suwe in the super eagles. ![]() |
ProfChris10: Brazil will suprise spain if they meetBrazil and Spain are match, and either winning is no surprise, if the margin is not more than 2. |
hornipipe: Crashed out?? Really??Will suddenly be strong after conceding 16 goals in 2 matches? You can't do more than your ability. The Tahitians dont have what it takes to concede less than 5 from the Uruguayans. |
tiarm: I think we also need a good midfilder det can hold ball very well.....Mikel is doing that fine. And the guys supporting him (Ogu, Mba and Onazi) are not doing badly too. So we don't have problem with midfield. |
Ajasnoop: Did you actually watch the match? as someone said earlier you rated players out of emotion and sentiment rather than their actual contribution. To rate Musa as a 3 is totally absurd. He was our most effective player in the first half and I agree he fizzled out in the second. Ideye was ok. He didn't set the stadium alight but he merits at least a 5CIV is not an average side. Player for player, they match top European national teams. Drogba, Yaya Toure, Kolo Toure, Gervinho, Saloman Kalou, Arthur Boka are players that have played in the biggest clubs in world football. |
Its really surprising that in a country of over 90 million men, we cannot comfortably source for at least 3 strikers that can stand world soccer powers. It hurts. Btw, I rate Jarus 9 for his ratings.
Thanks bro. Meaning, I'm the 'man of the analysis' abi na 'man of the match'. ![]() |
vykte: The rating is cool! Except 4 d fact dat u gave musa a 3. Dat guy deserves a -3. He's such a bad player i wonder how he gets to play every match. Haruna lukman, rabiu ibrahim are better players and Keshi should realise some of this homebased players aint just good enough.bro, na wa o. |
dahmie2013: Please can someone help me with the implication of this loss. Thanks! We are technically out of the Confederations cup. We need to beat Spain with at least 1 goal margin, and Uruguay not beating Tahiti with more than 4 goals - both of which are very tall ambition. |
modextus: Jarus its been long i heard from уσυ Oo..Hey bro, I still dey o |
Jarus pls post ur normal player ratings. The super eagles lost but somehow i'm happy with their performance. Echiejile and ambrose did very well, they were very composed and overlap when needed.
Posted already. Expecting Supermod to put in fp. |
jp philips: truth is; it is the strikers that Initiate counters not the coach,a fast paced striker will initiate a counter by default as soon as the opponent is dispossessed in his half.Brilliant analysis. Deadballs have never been our strenght, and there is hardly anything we can do about it. |
brownlord: Abeg who know the state and village where ideye come from?Bayelsa. |
I will not speak for Osaze, but Kalu Uche we need..
Osaze doesnt have the character to be in this team. He will cause more friction. I don't support his return either. |
Bro, the writer is a nairalander. |
gbosaa: Did you watch the match?...you seem to be rating them out of emotion..If it was out of emotion, I wont give Oduamadi 4 and Ideye 3. I'm a big fan of Ideye. Rating will never be the same for different people. |
SUBS 12, BABATUNDE: Thrown into the fray for injured Oduamadi, and disappointed big time. I wonder how Keshi selected someone that plays in one backwater club in Ukraine that scored 2 goals in 44 matches. He doesn’t have the quality – maybe yet – to be a Super Eagles player. 3/10 13, AKPALA: I still wonder why Keshi invited this guy. He scored just one goal for Werder Bremen in Bundesliga last season and made fringe appearances. Yes, he used to prolific in Belgium, but football is about form. Bad decision on Keshi’s part. 3/10 14, Mba: Keshi threw in a midfielder with eye for goal for a good, but not-known-for-scoring Ogu. He needed an equalizer. But it was too little too late. The ‘elephant killer’ didn’t make much impact. 3.5/10 COACH: His attackers once again failed him. I’m not sure he made the right decision throwing Babatunde into the game that early. 4.5/10 OVERALL NEGATIVE: Super Eagles need sharp attackers. All their recent goals were scored by wingers, midfielders and even defenders (Mikel, Oboabona, Echiejile, Oduamadi and Musa). No reliable top 9 yet. I still think Martins and the Uche brothers are still relevant to this team. OVERALL POSITIVE: I think we expected too much from this team and we are impatient. The team is still under construction and these boys are still young. We also forget that Uruguay are champions in a continent that has Brazil and Argentina. What’s more, Forlan, Suarez and Cavani are no small players in world football. Not forgetting others players from Athletico Madrid, Liverpool etc. And this is a team we expected our own Ukraine and Belgian leagues players to defeat. It was a decent showing in my opinion. http://jarushub.com/2013/06/21/player-rating-nigeria-vs-uruguay/ |
Again, Super Eagles’ attacking inefficiency and Uruguayan defenders’ tactical discipline saw Nigeria technically crashing out of Confederation Cup. The Eagles, who were dominated in the opening minutes of the game would later go on to give a gdecent account of themselves in the match with the South American champions. How they played: 1, Enyeama: Although the goals were hardly his fault, the manner he concedes in almost every match for Nigeria (including against Super minnows like Tahiti, Namibia, Malawi, Kenya) calls to question his continued claim to Nigeria’s goal post. He can do better. 5/10 2, Echiejile: He could have also done better with his overlapping runs. Overlapping to initiate attack and losing final ball is not exactly the hallmark of a modern left back. If he knows he can’t do that, he should have stayed at the back jejely. Average performance. 5/10 3, Oboabona: Decent showing for an home-based against world class strikers, although not his best day. Less active than his defence partner. 5.5/10 4, Omeruo: Coming of age. A good showing against one of the strongest attack line in the world. He intercepted ball many times. He was helpless in Forlan’s goal, although I believe he could have charged the former Man U striker better. 7/10 5, Ambrose: Like his left side partner, his recovery rate when he overlaps is poor, exposing the central defenders. He did decently to assist the attack team though, especially when the wingers were fumbling. 5.5/10 6, Ogude: His raw tackles continued and almost got a card. After that, he was hardly seen. He is not able to take his chance to prove himself in the golden absence of his competitor, Onazi. 4/10 7, Ogu: Assisted Mikel in the midfield and made it possible for the Chelsea man to make daring moves forward. He later went into oblivion though. 6/10 8, Mikel: Easily Nigeria’s best player on the field. He showed his class, proved the difference between a Chelsea first team player and backwater league players. He was outstanding, commanded the midfield, despite the Uruguayans having more men in the midfield. What’s more, he scored world class goal. His lowpoint was a couple of critical indecision in the second half. 8/10 9, Oduamadi: Hacked down within first twenty minutes. Struggled as he did, he couldn’t make an impact in the game again. Unfortunately, those were the first minutes of the game the South Americans dominated the game. Prabably he could have converted, were he to be around when Nigeria began creating chances. 4/10 10, Ideye: He continues to disappoint those of us that have confidence in his ability, and prove critics right. For someone that scored 17 league goals in Ukraine this season, it was a bad outing. A golden chance he saw in the second half was also lost when he was not able to guide the ball well for the crucial turning. 3/10 11, Musa: Again, all run, no substance. His final ball remained poor. Bad crosses. Worse, he gave away ball that resulted in the second goal. 3/10 http://jarushub.com/2013/06/21/player-rating-nigeria-vs-uruguay/ |
trappatoni: keshi should look into the super eagles attack, guys like ideye and musa should not be in the starting line up. nsofor, martins or odewingie should be recalled.these three on their worst days will score half of the chances ideye has been throwing away since nations cup.You should ask where Nsofor is first. Nsofor managed 3 goals in Russian league that the Musa you said he should replace scored 12 goals. Nigerians don't follow the performance of their players, they just analyse football with performance of 10 years ago. Nigeria's best strikers this last season 1, Kalu Uche, 19 goals in Turkey, 2nd highest goal scorer in Turkish league, 2nd highest scoring African in Europe 2012/2013 (behind CIV's Bony Winfred, who was second only to Messi in Europe with 31 goals in Germany). 2, Ideye, 17 league goals and a couple of goals in UEFA, 2nd highest goal scorer in Ukraine 3, Ahmed Musa, 12 goals in Russian league 4, Imoh Ezekiel, 10+ goals in Belgium 5, IK Uche, 12 goals for Villareal in Spanish Segunda division, driving them back to La Liga |
emiye: Well, like i said, any kind of win with a single goal differential from nig. 2-1, 3-2, 4-3,.....A single goal-differential win for Nigeria takes Nigeria to 6 points, +5 GD. Let's not hope against hope, Uruguay will put more than 5 past Tahiti. |
CFCfan: On the bolded countries, it's still a bit of a surprise that Nigeria has to wait til the last day of the 2nd round qualifying series to book a place in the play-off round. The Super Eagles should have been out of sight, at least with 2 games to spare.Imagine. Nigeria had theeasiest draw. Imagine, Zambia, Ghana are in same group. Togo and Cameroun too. We have Namibia, Malawi and Kenya, yet had to wait till last day. |
seunlayi: but wait O, even if we qualify, it is certain that we will have to face Brazil in the semi final which may led to .... Don t let me say it. Eagles should just learn their lesson from this three matched and come back home to prepare for the main thing by playing high quality friendly matchesQualifying for semis is enough achievement. Some of us never conceived winning the tournament, but a decent showing. Semi final would have been a decent showing. |
