Gaboma: Aubameyang from Gabon.Yeah, I mentioned him earlier. He is on fire in France. 2nd only to Ibrahimovic in French league scorers chart. Another contender. |
When was the last time that a player from an English speaking country won the african footballer of the year? 1999. Mikel won't win it.
Leave this type of arguments to the illiterate street-side analysts. Stop this pettiness. No anglophone player did better than Eto'o, Drogba, Adebayor, Kanoute, Diouf, Yaya Toure in the years they won it. The last time I checked same Hayatou was CAF president when Nigerians dominated between 1993-1999. Let's rise above this kind of school boy arguments. |
Adufaye: even at RVP worst,he was a good player, torres at his best was average, rvp is far beta dan him in d last season,he always hv a goal 2 remember in evry season! If you say Torres at his best (Athletico Madrid, first season in Liverpool) is just average, then you don't watch football. You are one of those that started watching football 2 years ago. And did you say you're a Man City fan? No wonder. |
Got home early enough (before sun fullY set) to still play some football, before heading to the mosque (for my maghrib praer) and back home. |

laykhorn: why VI?We normally hold 2 editions - one in VI/Ajah, another on mainland. |
COOL DK: I make an intention to host one probably at Pen-Cinema (TASTEE).Where is Pen Cinema? |
Thsi jara programme is the stupidest TV show I have ever watched. Too fake people. |
Diasporan: Post has been modifiedBetter be. Because, Kanu played 2 CL finals (1995 and 1996), winning 1 (1995). |
Mikel did well this year and will likely win it, but luck is also part of the equation. Luck, because African players have not been having terrific 2013. In fact, if Essien did this year what he did in 2006/2007 when he came 2nd, he would have won it in 2013, because he did better in that year what Mikel did in 2013. What Drogba did in 2012 and still not win the award, if he did same in Kanoute's year, he could have won it. These are the vagaries of this award. Just like what CR7 has been doing in the last 4 years and coming 2nd in WPOY, was, IMO, more than what Cannavaro did in 2006 (and IMO, Kaka in 2007) to win the award. If there were no Messi, what CR7 did is more than enough to win him the trophy. |
click2cbn: Well, it will b hard for him to win it since he isn't Francophone! CAF is dominated by French speaking people, wen was d last tym a player from any Anglophone country won it. He deserves to win it, but will Monsiuer Hayatou agree?Things like these irritate me. When Nigerians were dominating in the early to late 90's, CAF was still Franco-phone dominated o This is not a matter of Anglophone or Francophone, in the years Eto'o won it, no African did better. When Drogba, Adebayor, Kanoute and Yaya also won it, it wasn't because they were Francophone, but because they were obviously Africa's best. When Kanu (1996, 1999), Amuneke (1994), Yekini (1993), Ikpeba (1997) won it, CAF was still francophone-domianted, Hayatou was still the president. Let's leave this kind of pettiness for the illiterate football analysts on the street. |
I have also been thinking along this line. I think he deserves it. Moses is another player that did well, but not showing at Confederation cup rules him out. Good for Mikel, the usual African big stars (Yaya Toure, Drogba, Eto'o etc) are only having an average year. There is one Gabonese guy, Pierre-Augyman or something, that can give him a run for his money. He scored 19 goals in French league to emerge the league's second highest scorer after only Ibrahimovich. This CIV's Winfred Bony is another contender. |
1. Not emptying your bladder early: Maintaining a full bladder for a long time is a quick way of causing bladder damage. That the urine stays in the bladder for a long time can cause the bacteria breeding in urine to multiply quickly. Once the urine refluxes back to ureter and kidneys, the bacteria can result in kidney infections, then urinary tract infection, and then nephritis, even Uremia.Omho, make I go urinary come back read the remaining. Was on my to the toilet, only stopped to surf thru NL and this the first thing I'm reading.... |
deols: @jarus, I sent you an email this morning and I haven't gotten a reply.Didn't get the email actually, but picked the email from here and sent the details to the address. |
CFCfan: Iniesta na winchThe guy pass winch. Iniesta is a great player. |
siddiq202: Good for him.Agreed. He feels free to express himself when in SE jersey more. |
dahmie2013: @OP, please I need ur help. What happens to VAT, when a vendor brings his/her invoice and gives the customer a cash discount if the customer pays within a particular period,if the customer pays within that period, does it affect the VAT that he/she has paid? Or the customer will still pay the VAT he/she is suppose to pay, but the actual cost of the item bought will reduce because of the discount. Thanks!Applicable on after-discount amount. |
You however have a valid point in what association can bring to a blog. For example I sent an email to the CEO of a Nigerian bank for interview request to be published on my blog, and she called someone that knew me and explained why she may not be accepting the request. It has to do with my publishing a scoop on INEC chair and a couple other strong political views (then I was combining politics with career as focus of the blog, before I later dropped political blogging.) She didn't want to have her interview published in a blog with negative stories about political office holders, to protect political interest of her bank. |
samkoro: Unlike Linda Ikeji and Bellnaija ,Nairaland is a brand that has nutured rancour and promoted very bitter ethnic/religious friction all in the bid to drive traffic.I'd never seen a forum that provoked ethnic so much ethnic rife-which is not my nature, until I joined nairaland in 2006. This is a forum that started with critism of housa, minorities, christians and Igbos except moslems and Yorubas.Once you react equaly,ur post is either deleted or ur are banned. You can accuse Seun of anything, but not ethnic partisanship. I don't know why it is difficult to understand that the seeming tilting of forum to an opinion/sentiments is simply because the people that hold that opinion/sentiment are either in the majority or the most vocal. If anything, Igbos are the most officially pampered tribeon NL, just as I agree Islam/Muslims are pampered. |
bheemz: Assallam Aleikun! am new here pls how does it work?. i must commend u guys, dis is awesome. Jazakullah KhairanFollow this thread. We plan on this thread, agree on a date and venue and meet on the agreed date, for the joint iftaar. You may go through the earlier pages of thsi thread for prior years editions. |
executinal: I never hear CHAN before oohBecause Nigeria did not qualify for teh last 2 editions. Ahmed Musa shone in this tournament in his last season as home-based in 2009 or so. |
What's strong in this squad? I think this is an opportunity for Gambo to shine. Also, I'm surprised Cibuzor Okonkwo is still based. ![]() |
That said, I want to see Brazil-Spain final. True test for Neymar (against Xavi and Iniesta), true test for Spain too. |
Kingsley OGBITI: Mr Jarius please what is the name of the blog that you said the guy blog christian things please.http://christianpf.com/ |
Majikals: Uruguay go hear gnuel...Forget. This is a different kettle of fish entirely. Uruguay are champions in South America that has Brazil and Argentina. Brazil only came to this tournament because they are hosts. |
I will not be surprised if Uruguay beat Brazil. They are familiar foes and know themselves well. |
collynzo2: Your sure say you knoww the actual time for your job? 8-5 don become 9-5. Tomorrow e go be 7-4. You dey operate on flexible job hours? And that's the only thing you saw in my post? Well, fyi, 9-5 is generally used to describe salaried, office jobs. Not the time that matters. If you see me use 8-5 (which is normal Nigerian working hours), then I've only localized the generic name. |
