marutimon: I believe you are mistaking him for John Utaka.
Peter Utaka has only 7 caps (most of them as subs), but three goals. Truth is Peter Utaka was never really given a chance, despite being a proven penalty fox.
Besides - I'm not necessarily suggesting Keshi takes him, but just proving that there were much better options than Akpala.
I'm surprised you mentioned I'm mixing up John and Peter.

I don't think anybody will deny they not knowing our passport by colour, from distance sef, especially in popular routes/airports that Nigerians ply.

But whether they treat badly based on that is what people will debate.

The Schipol guy did not treat me badly, he just made that remark.

Indifferent.

But it appears those airport/immigration officers see Nigerian passport with special interest//attraction. Was in Amsterdam early May en route Edinburgh, when one Dutch officer, on sighting my passport, retorted: "people that carry this passport normally transit in early flights, your people have passed, how come you're just going with afternoon connection" (words to that effect), meaning he took special interest in Nigerian passport.

Admitwithschola: Hi,
No need going for anything Economics again since your sole aim is to do salary work. Development finance will be more reasonable and should help to broaden your reach. However, if you must do Economics, make sure you make 1 or 1.3 or at worst 1.7 out of 5 (German system is opposite—1 is the highest and 5 is the smallest). This will help you continue your studies at good schools in America or there in Europe. Meanwhile, you can begin ACCA there in Europe, instead of coming to naija to begin ICAN from the scratch. If they write ICAN where you are now, then you can take it there. The goal is for you to not wait till you reach naija before you begin a professional exam. If you do so, you will have wasted time.
There is no guarantee that you will or will not get a job when you do eventually return to Nigeria at 31. However, one thing you need to know is that there are people that are way below 31 years old, with master’s and professional qualifications, who are yet to get reasonable jobs. There is no hard and fast rule to getting a job in Nigeria. You just need to be lucky, well-prepared and favoured by God. It becomes more likely when you have well connected people who are willing to assist you.. But connection alone does not guarantee anything. You need to hold your own too.

If you can, I suggest you start your career abroad. If you come back straight to naija and have not had previous work experience, many, not all, companies will price you below 150K Naira per month. And I think they are fair because the reality is that someone with a graduate degree and no experience hardly has anything to offer nowadays, except the job is research based, similar to what I do. That is only when your academic research skills will come in helpfully handy.
There was a time when a master’s from naija landed people assistant manager position, but unfortunately that era seems to have passed. The only time such is very possible, in my view, is when one has a graduate degree from one of those fancy schools abroad..But,…people with such fancy degrees won’t come to naija and compete for 300k per month job.

Finally, I selectively give professional and academic advice for a fee. That is why my user name is admitwithschola. I am planning on going large scale and charging good money. My success rate over the years has been huge. You may just be one of my clients someday.

Admit.
Nice one.

Sports › Re: Brazil Vs Spain - Confederations Cup Final (3 - 0) On 30th June 2013 by Jarus(m): 10:51am On Jul 01, 2013
Questions that keep coming to my mind:

1, Were Oscar a Spaniard, will he make Spain's first 11?

2, Were Fabregas a Brazilian, will he not make Brazil's first 11?

3, Oscar is at best only a little better than our own Victor Moses, will VM have made Brazilian national team?

4, Will Mikel Obi make the first team (i.e first 11+3 sure sub) of any national team in the world, Brazil, England, Argentina and Spain in particular?

Analysts, over to you!

You are not yet a champion until you beat the real king of football, Brazil.

Brazil may fumble in their continental (countries as small as EEcuador, Peru beat them - and as you all can see, their continental. Bnmrival, Uruguay gave them the toughest challenge in this tournament), but they are a different team entirely when they get to world stage.

They even came to this competition as hosts, just as they struggled to qualify for 2002 WC, only tto win.

Nigeria holding Spain? With 3 unreplied goals?

Well, if Nigeria is able to beat Uruguay, then they can talk of 'flogging overhyped' Brazil.

Nigerians and their on-paper football. Even after chopping 3 from Spain.
Sports › Re: Brazil Vs Spain - Confederations Cup Final (3 - 0) On 30th June 2013 by Jarus(m): 5:13pm On Jun 30, 2013
This is the real test for Spain.

You're not yet King of football until you beat Brazil in a consequential competitive match.

When Zidane-inspired France ruled 1998-2002, they beat Brazil along the way.

Spain has been ruling in the last 5 year, but never met Brazil. Let's see whether they will ice the cake tonight.

My money is on Brazil though.

Merely looking at Confderations cup draw, a good fotball analyst should be able to predict how it went: Spain and Uryguay to qualify from Group B, Brazil and Italy to qualify from Group A, Brazil to eliminate Uruguay, Spain to eliminate Italy and Brazil-Spain 50-50 final. That's the natural expectation based on the pedigree of the teams. And it so happened, no upset.

Although few analysts fancied Nigeria's chance against Uruguay (which they almost proved, as Uruguay won not because they were better that night, but because they were more disciplined). The odds naturally favoured Uruguay.

So what are we saying?

When Cameroun got to final in 2003, they had more world class players(Eto'o, Foe etc) and except Brazil that they beat 1-0, they didn't meet strong opposition enroute final (Colombia and co).

Still a decent outing IMO, and a lesson for us on the missing link: attack.

The man spoke my mind

Keshi is doing a good job. He is on course. Let's support him.

We didn't expect to win Confederations cup, we are not there yet. Uruguay and Spain are not our mates in fball, losing to them is no big deal.

They have won good matches.

I also don't have any issue with him trying out all these fringe/uncapped Nigerians players in Europe (Akpala, Ujah, Babatunde and co). He gave them chance. With their performance in Europe, if Keshi did not call them, we will all shout. If you follow Marutimon's Goals from Nigerians abroad thread on NL here since 2011, we all called for these guys to be tried out.

Let's watch Keshi. He is on course.

Billionaire businessman and Globalcom owner, Chief Mike Adenuga reportedly paid a whopping sum of 200million naira to secure a space for his burial spot in a cemetery.

The cemetery is at the Vaults and Garden, an ultra modern cemetery in Ikoyi, Lagos, situated beside Federal Radio Corporation Of Nigeria.

The cemetery which was opened in October 30th, 2006 by former Lagos state governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has a spot for the rich and another spot for the "super" rich.

A space for the rich costs from N750,000 and above, while that of the "super" rich costs from N40million and above. There you will enjoy a lush lawn, a balcony, beautiful gate, garden, more space, and all that..

It was also reported that the billionaire's sister, Mrs Esther Osunade, who died in 2009 was buried at the few most expensive spot beside Gboyega, son of another super rich man.

Does it really matters where one is buried when he's dead? Will the beautiful heaven on earth spot you are buried determine where you'll be going? We all know the answer!

That should be Gboyega 'Gbegi' Ojora. Son of Otunba Kunle Ojora. Died of liver issue in 2010.
