OMG, this is getting out of hand. Erin people just killed my friend's elder brother today. ![]() |
CFCfan: That was Drogba's 60th international goal in 94 appearances.When Nigeria's all-time, Yekini, has just a little above half of that - 37. |
naijamark: Interpreted: Violence is the ritual in OffaIjakadi = violence abi? |
naijamark: Offa is not the only student community. Whether its because the students see you as bush people or its "lording over" are no excuse to justify the violence meted on themAnd have I justified the 'violence' meted on them? |
naijamark: Thank God you remembered that day too, May 8, 2000. Because some students see you indegenes of Offa as unexposed bush people, you decided to show them you are exposed by launching a killing spree attack on them? Not everybody will take this from your. There is a right to self defense and in most cases, you usually get more than you bargained for.I hope you know the meaning of 'lording over' in the sentence, which goes beyond 'seen'. If someone thinks because he comes from Lagos, theon you are lowly and should be trampled upon, the that person is looking for trouble. That said, it is pathetic that you ignored the part I said Offa vigilante should take the most of the blame for needlessly interfering in the affairs of students. Mine is a mill of objective ideas. |
Also drafted into the team were Olasupo Olusi, Technical Assistant to the Minister of Finance and coordinator of the YouWin! Project; and Doyin Okupe, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs. ![]() Very wrong time to keep this man busy. No wonder my calls had been entering voice mail in the last couple of days. |
Sybellah: and what year was that again?Oh, it was actually the other way round. http://gulftoday.ae/portal/a4f668e3-74a9-4fe5-87d9-1cdcd81912d7.aspx Meanwhile, CIV letting in 2 goals somehow still validates my point. Togo also scored them after all. |
Jarus: Offa and Ipee are not in any dispute, land or any other thing.Did I say the bolded? No, I meant Ipee, which is closer to my place. In any case, I had trekked to Erin Ile too in the past, as a small kid. I even 'rolled tyre' to Erin Ile one day. That was days of innocence as a less-than-10-year-old kid in the early 90's. |
peckhamboi: If dem born you well, make you jog enter Erin Ile next time and see what happens to you.Let me just not respond to you. |
Afam4eva: Abeg, how big is this Offa that someone can jug from their to another town.LOL Doon't know the landmass, but Offa has a population of between 300,000-400,000 (that's close to Cape Verde population). Okay, an example in Lagos: Offa's lenght if like Bonny Camp almost to Jakande roundabout. Got more than one places I stay, but where I stay most is close to the border of the town, so I can jug to Ipee in less than 20 minutes. All these towns are already intertwined and boundaries built up with houses, so if you stay to close to the border you can trek to a nearby community. |
lawal201: Its is only those people that do not know Offa very well that are supporting them. Offa and Ipee are in fracas for a long time over some pieces of land. NURTW Ijagbo branch erected a garage on their land and Offa people went there and burnt down the garage, they claimed Ijagbo land belong to Offa. It has been more than a month that Offa people have been beating Erin-ile people crossing their town. This latest battle was caused when an old Erin-ile man went to Offa to collect money from GT bank, the old man was coming home and when he stopped the taxi and mentioned Erin-ile, they jumped on him and beat him to death. The Erin-ile people that went to rescue him were attacked by the Niger delta machineries hired by offa people. The war is going on now, where are the Offa people with their big mouth, Erin-ile people have reached Idi-Ogun and they are at the front of Offa Town hall now, let Offa people come out and meet them.Offa and Ipee are not in any dispute, land or any other thing. Offa and Ipee have mixed. I even jog to Erin Ile every morning for my exercise whenever I'm at home in Offa. Offa and other neighbouring communities - except Erin Ile - are at peace. Which kain Niger Delta mercenary was hired? So for a clash that started 2 days ago, they had brought the ND militants all the way from Rivers/Bayelsa....in just 2 days! I heard the battle is onoging now. This is not good news for all of us, Offa and Erin Ile. |
biolanurat: Wen will this Erin-ile pple come to terms wit the fact dt Offa is by no standards equal to them. They r backward cos of their jealousy. Pls grow up jor and leave my peaceful, progressive and adorable Offa alone. Ain't you tired of animosityThese are comments that fuel the crisis. And yes, I'm from Offa. |
maclatunji: I was going to create a thread for this.I agree. CIV doesn't have a solid defence. Egypt exposed them before WC, beating them, was it 4-2 or so? |
NessaFresh: I am just watchin the naija catalunya game right now....After that game, he has not been having good games again. |
I was about saying here was a team with 17 out of the 23 players never featuring in AFCON before. But then I remember Ghana came to ANC 2010 with their under-20 boys and stipped reached final, pipping Nigeria along the way. My own belief is that Nigeria doesn't have quality talents again. Just a bunch of average players we hype. Adding insult to their injury, other African countries are improving. Now, is it the worst? Comparatively, it is. But I don't think they are irredeemably bad. They have the potential. I still don't rule them off yet. I can't bank on them, but when I remember what these guys are capable of doing, I get some relief: Mikel has played and made impact at the highest level: UCL final Moses dazzles in EPL, arguably the best league Musa dazzles in Russia, scoring up to 10 goals already this season Uche the typical La Liga player - skilful Ambrose may not be in the league of the Kolo Toures but is gradually coming up and did well in UCL, against - wait for it - Messi's Barca Enyeama has stopped even Messi in the past Ideye proved himself in Fench ligue 1, scoring up to 15 league goals, doing same in Ukraine We also all know what Emenike can do When I look at all these, it becomes difficult for me to write off these boys |
Obiora4life: I have to agree with you and unfortunately, I haven't seen the vision nor the objective of the last two debates. I always thought the prime objective for debates were to educate and learn from each other by exchanging ideas though with opposing perspective and to develop our skills be it social speaking or writing or whatever.Restructuring is fine. Nothing wrong in tinkering with a process to achieve better result. I however don't agree with the bolded. I think the two debates we've had in the past, especially the amalgamation one, achieved our vision. A lot of issues around amalgamation was brought into spotlight. I, for one, learned from it and majority of audience also confirmed learning. That's the spirit. |
I don't believe Offa people are aggressive. And objectively speaking now, not because I'm from Offa. Yes, I agree our people get mouth, fit boast, yarn and all that, but they don't get tomthe extent of physical attack. Our people are hardly start fight. We are not a fighting people. That is why we always lose more lives anytime there is fight. It is just not our thing. Candidly, I think erin Ile are the aggressiv one and usually the one starting all the attacks, but I wont dwell on this, as it wont help matter. Smilingkola: i was offa poly prdcts. U r rait.dis town is sumhw aggresive.wel,i pray dat God tk cntrl.Offa people are not aggressive. They are accommodating. I remember the May 8, 2000 clash with poly students very well. I remember that day very well, I was preparing for my SSCE. The students shared part of the blame. They had this tendency of lording over indigenes, looking at indigenes as 'unexposed bush people', while forming 'Lagos' - even the ones that came from one village in Ogun state. However, I admit that the Offa community vigilante took the most of the blame - for stretching their watchdog (security) job beyond limit, needlessly interfering in students' affairs. |
abdulkayus: dis has been happenin for a while. Both Offa and Erinle are never in good terms. And dey are neighbours ooooo. Offa always like beafin every1, esp Ilorin bt dey hav forgotten dat Ilorin has leave dem behind (sorry o Jarus). Kwara is a state of Peace and Harmony, so make una no spoilt our name oooWe don't 'beef', we just tease you guys. Yes, I agree Offa people get mouth (sabi yarn), but it doesn't translate to aggression. We are not fighters. In fact, I'll say we are somehow not strong (beyond mouth). This is why even in those clashes with Erin Ile, we always lose more lives (despite our numerical and financial strenght). The Offa people I know are not aggressive and not one to start fight. They only get mouth. |
beylinko: Erinle is the quite of the two neigbours. Offa always think with their population and money they can intimidate the Erin ile people. OFFA also have a long history of land disputes with their neigbours which includes Ijagbo,Ira,Ilemona,Ipee,Igosun, igbana and ojoku.Much I don't want to trade blames, I think the post up here is uncharitable and bare-faced lie. Offa has never had problem with their other neighbours - Ijagbo, Ilemona, Ipee, Igosun etc. Name just one time Offa had issue with any of those. Dare I say Erin Ile are usually the aggressive side, always starting it. There is this sense of cheating among them - always believing Offa (which is larger) are chaeting them, which is an illusion. If some of us don't want to take side, it is not because we don't know the facts, it is because war doesn't benefit anybody. |
I am from Offa and spent the first 18 years of my life there. I grew up hearing and reading about the Offa-Erin Ile communal clash of late 1970's, and remember seeing a picture [in Pa James Olafimihan's book, Iwe Itan Offa (history of Offa)which I read many years ago] of then Head of state, Obasanjo, with the traditional rulers of the two communities signing peace accord in 1979. Too bad, 34 years on, the hostility hasn't ended. There were similar clashes in 2005 or thereabout before then Governor Bukola Saraki settled it for them, after many lives had been lost. News reaching me from home say the Erin people started the offensive again. This is not the time to trade blames. I hope our elders will come to their senses and end thsi hostility. Too bad. |
Hmmnnnn |
Yobo is needed in defence. He is more experienced and will be a little more respected by the Ivorian stars than an unknown home-based. Partner him with Ambrose, while Omeruo and Echiejile operate from back flanks. Midfield: I think we should retain Ogude in defensive midfield, but needs to be more measured in his tackles. Retain Mikel and Mba(ahead of Nosa) in central midfield. Attack: Moses and Emenike as sure starters, one of Musa/Uche/Ideye to support(too bad none of them is clicking) |
Score two early goals and park bus. |
Andre Uweh: Next edition in Morocco, Nigeria should prepare to top their group so as not to go out at the quarters. What if CIV or Ghana (our nemesis) go carry 2nd for another group? No hiding place again ![]() |
Parked and watched the match on the road, only immobile now. So, sorry this is coming late. Here we go: Man of the match: Enyeama Flop of the match: Ike Uche Enyeama : Fantastic outing. No single error or slip. Saved what would have been an equalizer. Cool and calm. 8 Oboabona : A little average average, but committed an error could have been costly. Made a daring move forward as well 6 Omeruo : Good job; kept the Ethipians at bay for most times, but shaky a couple of times 5.5 Ambrose : Also had an average game. At least no error. A little better than prior game 5.5 Echiejile : missed excellent opportunity to put Nigeria up when he was a decent chance in first half, but kicked the ball into the moon. Not a TT in attacking runs, but decent at the back, at least today 5 Ogude : still needs to work on his tackles, looked like a red card in waiting again today. But decent outing altogether 5 Mikel : slowed down the ball too often; slow in making decision, but still made at least one killer pass that Uche could have done better with 6 Mba : Decent performance. Combined well with Mikel in midfield. Did that role better than Igiebor, who was one of the players we relied on, pre-tournament. Also made one daring shot attempt, but should have done better 6 Uche : It appears this guy makes more impact from the bench than starting(vs Liberia, vs B/Faso?). Not much impact throughout his stay on field. No powerful shot at goal or dribbles that we know him for. Quite lazy too, not hustling like an Emenike at 9 4 Emenike : Deployed to the wing while Uche played 9, at least before Uche was removed and he moved to 9, leaving 7 for Musa. Not in his elements, but it could be because he operated more from the wings 5 Moses : Just a decent performance from open play, not top-notch. Couldn't make much of one on one or one on two with defenders as he does in Chelsea and did in Wigan. Couldn't penetrate much. But more lively at the wings than Uche and Musa. Above all, his moves got us the penalties. What's more, he scored the penalties, which is the most critical 7 SUBS Musa : a couple of flashes, but poor final ball again. Sometimes lost the ball. His bad show in AFCON 2013 continues 4 Yobo : Thrown into the pack to fortify the defence to avoid another Burkina Faso. Not much was seen of him, but he shielded ball well a couple of times 5 Ideye : Not seen. Hardly settled. Unrated. Overall, still not the Eagles we desire. Far from it. It doesn't speak well that we had to win Ethiopia by two penalties. Not until 78th minutes for that matter. Same Ethhiopia BF pipped 3-0 with 10 men. It is sad news for our football. No sense of urgency, slow game, only a handful attempts at goal, back passes when they should push forward. Bad positioning by forwards, unimpressive passes by midfielders and defenders. Good possessive football, but possessive football without goal is nonsense. |
Jarus, I hope you're happy? Cuz I remember 2 years ago, you wanted Siasia out. You don finally get your wish na... How you like am so far? Honeric01 nko, I dey hail join. Hope you guys are loving this game. Nansense.
Bros, I don give up. SE case pass coach |
Another draw in the offing......despite our shunning ogbono, ewedu, okro since morning. Super Eagles' case is beyond redemption |
No sense of urgency again. Pregancy football. Meanwhile, TT is better than this Echiejile guy sha |
I 'dreamt' about Super Eagles vs Ethiopia today. make I no talk wetin I see ![]() |
From the street to Aso rock, it's a nation of jokers
|
Even in the most calamitous of situations one thing you can't take away from Nigerians is their creative sense of humour. The Social Media has helped brought this out. During the fuel subsidy saga, we heard jokes like: Subsideen, subsidats, chukwusubsidy, oluwasubsidizemi, etc When Dana crash occurred, jokes like these were circulated: If you are going out in Nigeria now, look back to be sure the kidnappers are not behind you, look up to be sure a plane is not crashing on your head, look sideways to be sure a car is not coming etc. Now, Super Eagles are drawing matches and they created: 1, Which one draws pass: a, Okro b, Ogbono c, Super Eagles 2, Important information to all Super Eagles fan: If you love Super Eagles and wish them victory today, please don't eat okro, okoho, ogbono, ewedu, or any soup that draws Which other event have I missed out and what's the associated joke? |
