Islam › Re: Do You Observe Your 5 Daily Salat? by Jarus(m): 6:10pm On Jan 22, 2013
My former workplace was very permissive. We had a mini-mosque in our building and had top guys that were Muslims (including our Deputy CEO, a Muslim convert from Delta state) who are very supportive. They even give prayer times allowance in many meetings. So it was very easy to say all prayers at their right times even when in office.

My current place of work. Initially, when I joined, used to take bike (or sometimes drive) to go to nearest mosque. Later, I discovered a closer mosque at trekable distance. Later, during last Ramadan, I was shown a small praying ground within the compound next to us. So now very easy.
Islam › Re: Do You Observe Your 5 Daily Salat? by Jarus(m): 6:03pm On Jan 22, 2013
Masha Allah. Started full five daily prayers at 17 some 13 years ago. Before then 1 or 2 or 0 a day. First two years of 5/5 (1999-2001), used to do subhi timely and combine the four others in the evening. But became time conscious when I entered university in 2001 and started saying them at their right times.

Abela (candle) for a maths teacher that was also a pastor. Used to tell bad students that 'your candle is gradually burning' i.e your are wasting your valuable young age.

Another one, Gaskiya. Geography teacher. He used to say gaskiya (fact) after almost every discussion. E.g After taking 'types of volcanoes' and explaining, he would now top it with 'gaskiya ibe lati gba fun yin yen' I.e, we have analysed all the facts of the topic for you to know. We named him gaskiya
Politics › Re: NL Monthly Political Debate by Jarus(op): 9:47am On Jan 22, 2013
Let's finalize on some issues:

DATE: Saturday, January 26, 2013

TIME: 7-9pm Nigerian time

TOPIC: We have up till end of tomorrow to choose one of:

State of residence or state of origin?

Legislative Reform of the CBN - desirable or simply negative politics?

The unity of Nigeria: negotiable or non-negotiable?

Special Status for Lagos: Yes or No?

Or any other topical subject:

Lets's decide on which to go for before end of tomorrow (Wednesday) so we can settle for debaters and put up the debate thread.
Politics › Re: Realistic Options For Opposition Presidency In 2015? by Jarus(m): 7:33am On Jan 22, 2013
Deep Sight: Well I must say that one unfortunate reality that is emerging from this thread is the paucity of realistic options for an opposition presidency in 2015. IF Buhari (as seems to be the case from the generality of comments here) is the only realistic opposition option, in a nation of 250 tribes and 160 million people - after 16 years of Democracy - and a full 32 years after the same Buhari took power as Military Head of State; well, that just says a lot for the very sad and limited space in Nigerian Politics.

It also says worse about we Nigerians ourselves: namely that our enlightenment is not yet what we imagine - we still remain grossly unenlightened and "un-emancipated:" otherwise there would be no reason why newer fresher options would not by now have become "realistic" enough for us.

Quite sad really.
Bros, you asked for realistoic option and people gave you and now you want to stifle their choice? Why not put a rule from onset that the only option must be your personal option or so so so person must not be there? angry

We've have dem in d past and what did we achieve? Nothing. Leave Keshi to rebuild dis team and stop running ur mouth like say u be fergie.
Foreign coach like Lars Lagerback or like Bora?
Sports › Re: Player Rating: Nigeria Vs Burkina Faso by Jarus(op): 5:52am On Jan 22, 2013
sholatech: Nay..Man of the match is between Alain, Mikel or Ideye.
Mikel did well. So was Ideye. But MOM was never from the Nigerian side. Their no 11, Pitriopa, was effortlessly waltzing through Nigerian defence, behind all the cards Nigeria got, including Ambrose's red card. He was also the one that gave the assist for their eventual goal. Alain Traore, their no 10, came in and tormented further, before getting the most critical goal of the night. So I think MOM should be one of these two guys.

Uche: Came in and created chances with his typical dribbles and runs. But untypically, he missed the chances. For creating chances (which were hardly forthcoming before he came on), I don't think his performance was below par 5

Omeruo: Did well when he replaced Ideye to fortify SE defence aftermath Ambrose red card. One good runs forward too 5

Onazi: Late sub. Not much was seen of him. 4

Sunday Oliseh: Fantastic analyst on Supersports. Good knowledge of the game, good English, calmn, analytical. Highly impressive.

Sports › Player Rating: Nigeria Vs Burkina Faso by Jarus(op):
Man of the match: Tight one between Alain Traore and Pitroipa. Settled for Traore.

Now, over to business:

Enyeama: Not tried so much, but solid in the few times he was tried. Nothing he could have done about the goals.6

Yobo: Made grave errors in the first half that could have cost Nigeria. Tried to make amends later. But still not up to par 4

Oboabona: Average performance up till the final minutes. He was a culprit in the goal SE conceded 4

Ambrose: Though his red card was questionable, wasn't so impressive before being off. Nigeria hasn't got a right back yet4

Echiejile: Poor runs, unimpressive defensive ability. TT still better 4

Ogude: Much has been said about this guy's ability but he hasn't impressed me yet. Too raw in the defensive midfield. Not so comfortale with the ball, panicking. Was a red card in waiting before he was pulled off 4

Nosa: Average performance. A little selfish attempts. But a couple of brilliant moments supporting Mikel in the midfield 5.5

Mikel: Good game. Glimpses of the Mikel we hoped to see in 2005. Good distribution. But his poor shot at goal when he had an almost clear chance is unforgivable 6

Musa: Still has a lot to do on his final balls. Didn't penetrate enough from the wings as we rated him 5

Ideye: Good work rate. Selfless. Nice flip to assist Emenike in the lone goal6

Emenike: Great game. Nigeria's best player of the night. High work rate. Hustled for first goal when a lazy striker could have left it or made just mild attempt. Looks like a new Yekini, but definitely not a Yekini. 7

MAN OF THE MATCH: Emenike
FLOP OF THE MATCH: Yobo

This Alain Traore is one of the top guys in Ligue 1. I hope we won't underrate him to our peril.

Emenike has the potential to be the next Yekini. Power, built and he is a hustler.

I see Nigeria winning, but if anybody expects SE to just run over the Burkinababe, then i'm sorry for the person. Player for player, SE are hardly better. Mumuni Dagano, Charles Kabore, Pitripia, Alain Traore are no benchwarmers in Braga or Celtic like our players, they play top flight in French Ligue 1 with Marseille, Rennes, Auxerre, St Etienne, Lyon etc So expect whitewash at your peril.

Yes, we're going with the topic "State of residence VS State of origin".
Was the topic democratically arrived at as is tradition from onset?

Cape Verde's attackers need to be sharper in front of goal. Same way they missed clear chance vs Nigeria. I hope they are not punished for this.

Well, I'm behind them in this match.
