CFCfan: I largely agree with Jarus's ratings, except that I rate Mikel a 9. yes, he was that good!He or Moses may win the MVP for this tournament if Nigeria win the cup. However, how come Okocha won MVP in Tunisia 2004 before final game? And Nigeria was eliminated in semis. |
BankoleNco: How come Rashidi Yekini never played in a noteworthy club, or even feature in the champions league? Most players from his SE era did . . . . Anyone say LOCAL CHAMPION?He was highest goal scorere on Portuguese league in 1992/93 season. Then, only few African players played abroad. If you don't know history, learn. |
aribisala0: They are not the same Kind of player.Yekini is more like a Drogba, because of his size he can play upfront alone.I never found him very entertaining but he was a very direct player and his goal record speaks for itself. I do not think any Nigerian will surpass that record soon. However Yekini played alongside great players like Amunike,Finidi,Amokachi,Oliseh who helped him a lot. I would not even go as far as saying he was the best player of his generation though he did most of the scoring.Power is the only similarity between Drogba and Yekini. Yekini also used chest, but on lesser frequency compared to Drogba. Rashidi was not a great header, Drogba is. Drogba is not a 9 at all times - he moves around, sometimes going as far as back. Yekini was a traditional 9 - feed him and he will score. @OP, Emenike has some features of Amokachi and some of Yekini. He may never score 37 goals like Yekini did, but he is a great striker. |
Man of the match: Mikel Flop of the match: None Enyeama: Solid saves. Parried goal-bound balls that would have brought Malians back into the game earlier 8 Ambrose: Solid defending. Even better attacking. Daring forward. Graet game 7 Omeruo: The boy has come of age. Solid game at the back, pushing forward once in a while. Pocketed the Malians skilful forwards 7 Oboabona: What can I say of this boy? When I see Nigerian home-based players play in those dusty fields, you will never think they can play like this at this level. Fantastic defender. 7.5 Echiejile: Getting better by each game and more and more confident. Nice outing. His goal was well taken. He positioned himself well, bent calculatedly and nodded teh ball in. That was great. 7.5 Onazi: Much wasn't seen of him, but he did aboev average in the midfield, protecting the back 4. He also made a daring shot at goal. Decent game. He is cleaner than Ogude and better if he retains that position 6.5 Mba: Initially given teh playmaker role, made to operate more deeply, leaving Mikel at the back of midfield, but later swapped that role for Mikel and Mikel executed it well. One nice move forward too. Combined well with Mikel in midfield 6.5 Mikel: My man of the match. Help us keep possession. His long passes were out of this world. His short passes were even a delight to watch. Totally commandeered the midfield. 8.5 Moses: Was looking like the man of the match but removed early. This guy is a beast. So confident with ball. So skilful. His assist for our first goal was world-class. No wonder it was teh first two matches that he didn't feature prominently that Super Eagles struggled. He was key to Eagles' resurgence. 8 Ideye: You hardly see him on the field, but when you him, it's a dangerous attempt at goal. His shot from impossible angle parried away by Malian keeper was touche. His leg twist for that second goal was fantastic too 7 Emenike: It appears African defenders have no answer to this guy, because I'm sure with his performance in our first game, he would be the talking point in next opposition team's training/strategy session, yet he kept defying the defenders' gameplan. Scored yet again, though a deflected shot. Is he the new Yekini? Not far off. 7.5 Musa: His sense seems to have returned with his hair. His first ball was bad, but made subsequent amends. His goal was also well taken. He also delivered a number of quality passes from teh flanks. 6.5 Ejike: falling down too easily, although getting us set pieces from the left and Nigeria using the opportunity to ease tension. Decent game 5 Yobo: Hardly settled. Not rated Overall, another fantastic game from the Super Eagles. Played Nigeria's traditional possessive and attacking football, passing the ball around. Keshi also did well sticking with his starting 11 vs CIV. Who, in his wildest imagination, would have given Eagles any chnace of reaching AFCON finals? Even some of us incurable opitimists in the SE never gave them chance. I wonder what Segun Odegbami and other ex-internationals who dubbed these Eagles 'team of teh future' and not one to win AFCON now, would be saying now. Lowpoint however is teh way Diabate waltzed through our defenders about two or three times, getting an assist in one of them. Modibbo Maiga also did same, although farther from 18-box, earlier in the game. We should watch out for this as our opponents in final are likely going to devise their strategy on this. In Pitroipia, Burkina Faso has a player that can do that, but Ghana don't have (they only have power - their most skilful player, Dede Ayew that can do that, is not in the tournament). So I hope Eagles' handlers will anticipate this strategy. |
Mali, are you a learner? ![]() Eagles are on fire! Bring on Barca |
This Victor Moses is too much |
Mba is playing deeper forward today. I have said Malians are skilful. Our boys should be wary off Modibo Maiga, the Westham guy. |
olawalebabs: any body with the online link? Right in the office without DSTV, help your broMy company management just declared that we can close and go watch the match. Just when I was thinking of how to bolt. |
kfreak:First, forget about the grumbles of a few. ACN -whether Fashola or not - will still win Lagos. I don't see ACN losing Lagos in th next 8 years. On popularity, all permuations are based on Buhari actively working for the eventual candidates in the North and ACN chieftains in the South-West actively working too. Yes, they may not win Ondo, but you can't tell me Aregbesola will not deliver Osun to ACN, or ACN will not win Oyo, Ogun and Ekiti, if their governors and other chieftains actively work for it, not laying back as they did in 2011. Oshiomole will also easily deliver Edo to ACN if he wants to, but I don't trust Oshiomole, he is too close to GEJ to work against him. |
I am a big fan of Buhari, for his anti-corruption and discipline credential. However, old age may not be a good advantage for him. Next that comes to my mind is Fashola, for his performance record. Option 1 Buhari/Fashola: While Buhari faces the corruption/indiscipline cankerworm, sanitizing public sector, Fashola can face the administration and day-to-day developmental projects. He also brings intellectualism to the table. Selling point: Sanitization/performance togetheer Snag: Where is the place of South-East, which due to political fairness, is due for either of those positions? Option 2 Fashola/Ribadu: If age puts Buhari off the options, then we can make do with Ribadu, a mini-Buhari, to take care of the corruption/indiscipline aspect, while Fashola does the work. Merit: Performance/sanitization together Snag: Where is the place of Igbos again? Option 3 Fashola/Rochas: If we must find a space for our SE brothers for political fairness then Rochas is who comes to my mind. Highpoint: Pacifies those that don't want Hausa/Fulani again; pacifies Igbos; guaranteed performance from Fashola Snag: Fighting corruption is postponed to another day, but Fashola is trusted to bring some level of discipline. |
Mali play almost like Nigeria. They have skilful players. Deadly individual players. They are also physical. They play the ball on the ground like Nigeria. Building up from midfield to wings to attack. Don't underrate them. |
Pennywise: Blimey. The state pays for all expenses including feeding, transportation, accommodation infact total logistic requirement for d trip so he can do his job and he still gets to keep 25k. What d hell for? And this is supposed to be an ennobling disclosure of the Cbn gov. Nigerian's will surely like to know more about other routine allowances.Out-of-station allowance/per diem or whatever nomenclature is given to it is normal practice the world over - private and public sector. Working outside my regular office, you give me a token for the inconvenience. |
I congratulate one of our active participants in this thread, oyb, who was recently elevated to the post of manager. It's been some months now though. Congrats boss!!! Your boy is still loyal. Lol. Oya, declare for the boys o |
PapaBrowne: 25k?? I would hardly believe this amount. However it could be in order when you consider that the cbn governor has almost no where to go withing Nigeria on official assignment. Its just Lagos and Abuja which I think he has residences.Bros, you fall my hand o You are one of the least people I expect not to be able to distinguish between out-of-station allowance(per diem) and travel costs. So you also think the logistics/service dept will hand over cash to a CBN governor to book hotel, flight etc himself. Why on earth are people mixing what is expected to be simple? I travel to Uyo, PH etc on official assignments and my company books flight, hotel etc for me and still hands over token as inconvenience. If we don't know what is per diem/out-of-station allowance, at least we can read where he says he flies business/first/chartered. Does anyone expect that that is from the 25k? For God's sake, how does anyone expect a top public officer to be the one handling payment for flights, hotels etc by himself when there is corporate services dept? He may not even know how much those cost. The PA just hand over the ticket/reservation to him. |
FXKing2012: TB Joshua advised and prayed for the team so he deserved to be thanked, even for showing interest in the teamIf we lose, his prophecy comes to past. If we win, his prayers win us the match. I remember when we drew Guinea and failed to qualify for AFCON 2012, they said after that match that he prophesied it. Why didn't he pray for that? Somebody is marketing his business with football - knowing football is what sells now. |
Afam4eva: When i hear "Abubakar", the first thing that comes to mind is Islam and it's because it's a name that muslims bear aa lot but that doesn't mean it's exclusive to Muslims and that does not make it a Muslim name. It's not different from someone bearing Jacob but not a Christian.Still not getting it. Check the post I responded to. The guy said when you hear Abubakar, the first thing that comes to mind is Arab, and I said it is Muslim, not Arab, that comes to mind for 95% of people. Plain, I have not said Christian Arab cannot bear Abubakar. |
Afam4eva: Do you that there are Arab Christians with the name "Abubakar"? Are they Muslims too?The guy says the first thing that comes to someone's mind if he hears 'Abubakar' is Arab, and I said it's wrong, it's 'Muslim'? In all honestly, tell me what comes to your own mind if you hear Abubakar? Arab? Muslim? Christian? |
Akpan107: N750,000 as alowance in a Month, not Salary. Now, tell me, how much do you think would be his Salary?Na wa o. Well, I can see some folks here don't work in corporate settings. He said he receives 25k when he travels within Nigeria? So you think he will travel for 30 days and not stay in his office (by your calculation)? |
Pennywise: Are we talking Naira here or dollars? B/c Lagos to Warri on economy is 33k the last time I checked. That is assuming he is not coming back from the oil city same day.Na wa o. So you don't know that your employer books hotel for you, pays your travel costs (if you are not traveling with official transport) etc. So you think the 25k is what the governor will spend to pay for his flight, hotel etc? |
You are very predictable . . . Can you prove us wrong for once?
You may call it predictable, but I call it consistence. What do you want me to say to prove you wrong? To say something contrary to my belief? Tell me. |
justaqad: if i bear Abubakar the first thing that comes to your mind is,(arab)while i am yoruba.your name is your identity.i went through a lot trying to explain to people i am yoruba. if an arab converts to Christianity he/she need not change name.and you sure know Christianity is not an arab thing.the point isNo, if you bear Abubakar, teh first thing that comes to anybody's mind is you are a Muslim, before the thought of Arab, if any. |
chiover: Mere looking at the quality of oppositions left, even a thief can tell that Nigeria will win the cupThe Ghana that kicked you out two times in recent AFCONs? Or Burkina Faso you struggled and got a draw with? Or Mali? I have a feeling Nigeria will win this tournament, but not because of quality of opposition. |
Why are we always hearing about this after matches? |
He is first public officer to respond to private queries by a citizen on FOI. Kudos. I don't think we expect a CBN governor to be flying economy. I hope he declares others too. While I recognize that nobody can place 100% trust in another human, the Sanusi I know beyond public, I seriously doubt will enrich himself beyond his legitimate entitlements. Kudos to Aturu too (another product of Great Ife students activism )). |
Hi, can you help me with this question is it possible to transact business in Nigeria using a company registered outside Nigeria? is it mandatory that i have to register it in Nigeria first? I have been asking this question for a long time but it seems nobody has an answer
It is very possible. But you have to pay relevant taxes to the Nigerian government based on income you derive in Nigeria. |
Good motivation. Hoping it's not 'wetting the ground' for an advert. |
okpara ugo: Yes, let us see the deposit slip for that car... I suspect something fishy. And you think someone will lie against a celebrity in a public forum like Nairaalnd here where Linda herself can see? |
rockiedink: Bros...ŋa̶̲̅ UI Ɣøû go?Great Ife |
Drogba is a statesman, honestly. Everywhere, you see this passion in him. In Chelsea, he was always fighting on the field as if he would die if he doesn't win. In his native country, he is also very passionate. He plays every game for them, despite being a big boy. He doesn't fight his FA or government. He was instrumental to the peace they enjoy now. I remember when he suggested the use of war-torn Boauke as venue for their WC qualifiers in 2006, all to ensure peace and unity. The guy is a legend, on- and off-field. |
KINGwax: guy, tire for yaself cos i no knw how ds one u dey talk carry entre ds discussion?U no see ChannelsTV quoting the twitter disparaging comment as Eboue's? |
alpha conde: who uses osaze's handle i guess d same guy.... olodo like uNigerians will never listen to correction. Yes, Osaze operates his own twitter handle, does that mean another handle called 'Eboue' is automatically Eboue's. Olodo, go check the meaning of 'parody' in the dictionary. |
I don't know why Nigerians find it difficult to discern simple truth in some things. This is very annoying. How on earth can anyone believe Eboue is behind that twitter handle? How on earth will an Eboue tweet such 'fufu and eba' tweets. It is unpardonable seeing ChannelsTV also falling for this. There is one comical guy that posts as BokoHaram on twitter. Very soon they will start quoting that guy as BokoHaram, when the guy is just catching fun as can be discerned from his tweets. I tire for Nigerians. |
