Seun: For not contacting me privately before posting this, I hereby resign from my position as the owner and admin of Nairaland and the politics section. Good bye to you all!Seun, sense of humour. More pls ![]() |
thegoodjoehunt: Pulling out Victor Moses who was tracking back and winning the ball for a striker was too ridiculous. I still don't get how the team was able to prepare so well, Omeruo was so brilliant in the defense, Onazi as a RB was fantastic. The midfield combination was on top of the game for 70 mins and then the Coach destroys every thing with his changes.Moses was already weak and tired at that time. |
modextus: you are all blabbing shit..why dont you guys go into the pitch and play.its high time we all stop raining insults on the super eagles.you are all saying ahmed musa did'nt perform the you all watch the match as just mere viewers waiting for a magical goals and superb performance or as people who have the ideology on how football is played.musa overlapped throughout the game and same did victor moses and i'm made to belive it was how the wingers were told to play.if a northerner sees this he'l probably think you guys are just trying to pass blames cause he's hausa.the super eagles played how well they could possibly play it was just that it did'nt favour them.your all talking negatively i just pray that we all learn to speak positively as positive talks at times begats positive outcomesYou can accuse them of anything, but you can hardly accuse northerners of viewing everything (especially beyond politics) from ethnic lens. If Musa plays rubbish as he did the northerners are not concerned about whether he is their own. We are not castigating him because of anything other than his performance on field. It is the same Musa we all praised to high heavens on NL in WYC 2011 and in SE matches he did well. |
Yet, some folks and colleagues will make one feel ridiculous for entering public transport (all because one works in an O&G company). Me I no too send sha, I dey enter danfo. |
Umunede: It is working for nigeria. If Burkina win, a win in our final game against ethiopia will enable us qualify no matter what happen in d other match(zambia vs burkina)Yeah, right. |
toluxa1: U know what to doDone. Thanks |
Gboliwe: that doesn't mean you cannot explain its whereabout.Chill, sister. Let it go. |
Wey my calculator abeg |
hollandis: What is the use of having a striker who converts 1 out of 10 chances .If he is the best player in that match according to you then i weep for Nigeria footballHe didn't get up to 3 clear chances, yet he buried one. That's good strike rate. He wasn't fed enough. |
I'm highly saddened by this game and it's too bad we have to let slip a lead again. Well, here we go: Enyeama: Good performance; no error; saved a couple of efforts, especially the poorly hit one-on-one by Mbesuma. He can't be blamed for the penalty goal. 6 Oboabona: Solid defending. He did well in the defence, stopping a number of runs by the Copper Bullets' attackers. 6 Omeruo: Good game too. Combined well with his partner in central defence, except a couple of times they lost concentration. 6 Onazi: He was behind the penalty call, but it was a bad call by the referee and hardly his fault. He was played out of position but did averagely well. 5 Echiejile: A little better performance than last game, although he still doesn't assist the attack as TT would have done. 5.5 Ogude: His tackling were raw again, but did a good job trying to cover the backline, which is what mattered more. 5.5 Mikel: His penalty loss was a disaster, but he still had an average game, distributing the passes, although half of the passes didnt reach the destination. His assist got Nigeria the only goal. He also lost possession too easily and guided the ball too much. 5.5 Igiebor: Not as active as Mikel in the midfield. Still not the Igiebor we saw in matches prior to this tournament. Needs to up his game and his sub-optimal performance is exposing our midfield too often: 5 Moses: Average game, did some dazzling runs but not as productive as we would have expected. His presence made a little difference though. Not not playing to expectation. 5.5 Musa: I can't remember a single final ball he got right. Losing balls, poor final balls, poor crosses. Ineffective. 3 Emenike: Highest goal scorer in the tournament. Our best performer, no doubt. He didn't waste teh chances. Keeps reminding me of Yekini. He is a typical centre forward. 7 SUBS: All the three subs, Ideye, Omeruo and IK Uche hardly settled into the game. So they are unrated. MAN OF THE MATCH FOR NIGERIA: Emenike FLOP OF THE MATCH FOR NIGERIA: Musa Overall, it is a very bad game for Nigeria. It is unthinkable that what happened in first match could happen again: letting opponent come back from behind. Musa is my culprit. If he had been a little more effective upfront, and Moses also in his A-game, the difference could have been made. Absence of a proven penalty taker like Taiye Taiwo in the team is also a thumb down to the coaching crew. Although it comes with risk (counterattack in the event of miss, Enyeama is another proven penalty taker that could have sealed that penalty for Nigeria). Too bad. Too bad. Winning this game - against Zambia, the defending champion - would have been a big morale booster for us. |
Emenike keeps reminding me of Yekini. |
Is DSTV back pls? |
I didn't. I didn't even use the big cars of my brothers. I used my then car, EOD. |
Candidly, I fear for our defence without Yobo. One, in the past, Yobo has saved us in critical situations, which his headers, pushing forward. One, an equalizer; the other, a hard-fought lone goal victory that proved critical. Can't recall again but I think it's against all these Rwandas, Malawis. The guy can score Two, he may have fumbled against Burkina Faso and in a couple of other matches, I still think we cannot discount his experience in big games Three, leaving our defence in the hands of practically inexperienced Oboabona and Omeruo is risky. For a big game like this for that matter. |

Are you speaking Greek here or Latin? |

The Malians midfield are attack are doing well, only that they need to be more clinical. |
I play football every Saturday and Sunday. |
Most likely a draw. Or Mali may snatch a slim victory. But you can be sure of an explosive match. |
I don't celebrate it. I'm convinced by the arguments against it. It was never celebrated during the lifetime of the prophet (SAW), neither was it celebrated by his companions and predecessors. I consider it bid'ah and needless imitation of the Christians. |

Krucifax: I know some of us hear him speak and then feel embarrassed. But that's b'cos we speak with an accent due to many years living abroad. GEJ is Nigerian and speaks Nigerian there’s nothing wrong there.Good points you made there, only that you missed the point on the 'foreign accent' thing. Fashola, Sanusi etc are home-grown and they speak almost flawlessly. So it's not about growing up abroad or being used to foreign accent. |
Sincere 9gerian: These kids on NL cant stop being silly. Why would the president of a country be scared or lack confidence? Scared of who? I just dont understand these bad losers.Or Sanusi. Lol But nice case you made in this post though. |
movado19: @ Jarus.Maybe you should take the time to carefully read through all the pages.I followed the thread from inception, read all the post. |
semid4lyfe: Mikel has never being good at tackling. He marks space(s) and not players!I agree. that was why he was always picking cards in the early part of his defensive midfielder career. |
I certainly agree that Biafra needs to be discussed in an open and transparent manner and that the issues that brought the civil war are still in existenceThat was my exact point when I offered them Nairaland debate platform last month to civilly present their case on why they hold those marginalization views. But as usual, it was blackmail. |
Canary is on point. Too bad these people cry victimization in everything, everywhere. Thought this was only on Nairaland. Very annoying. |
movado19: For those who hate because others are not that strong yet to say their 5 daily prayers, etc, don't you think it would be better for you to channel all that energy in praying to Allah to guide them rather than hating? We all are not equal, and that is why we all pray to Allah to increase our station.Spare us this. Has anybody rebuked those who don't do their 5 salats? Rather I have seen people encouuraging others here. What attitude are you talking about? |
