Will the poster go and pick his primary 3 note again rather than mis-educate people here.
MEND(Movt For the Emancipation of N/Delta) is a Noun(name of something), not a VERB(an action).
Don't infect people's brains with virus pls.

Extremely interesting. No doubt is 'Big Brother Africa'. All agree Nigeria has influence. Same cannot be said of these countries in Nigeria, only Ghana can be said to have influence, even if negligible, in Nigeria.

And Commerce Bank, run by two of the nation's finest bankers then, Femi Adekanye and Ralph Osayameh, both former CIBN presidents, did not run aground abi?
Or, Wale Tinubu & Mofe Boyo, both young lawyers, did not nurtue Oando into a world class oil & Gas company?
This argument is weak pls.

I agree I may be biased, but the reality is there is nobody that doesn't have his own world views, which sometimes reflect in his/her analyses and comments. I'll not shy away from that. What is equally important is to respect divergent views.
Islam › Re: Curious About Islam, facts About Islam. by Jarus(m): 7:27pm On Oct 01, 2010
Must I open a thread on Yar'adua before I express my opinion about his health? Where we had many threads I can easily express my views on. But fyi, check my thread/article, 'Random Musings of Jarus' and see my prior comment on YRD's health/Turai's actions. The thread/article came before the Pastors' visit.

I meant 'my list' not 'my class' in my above post, first line. I'm posting from phone, can't modify now.
Nairaland General › Re: Which Of The Following Nairalanders Have The Sharpest Minds? by Jarus(m): 4:53pm On Oct 01, 2010
I was reluctant to put up my class because of two things:
1, I wasn't sure whether he was talking about 'sharp minds in political discussions' since this is politics section or sharp minds in over all NL discussions. This distinction was necessary because some people are so averse to politics but when you see them elsewhere, you see their stuff. Ajanlekoko, for example, is not so involved in politics, and he might not have made my Top 5 if I based it on political discourse only. But at the end of the day, I assumed OP meant general NL activities.
2, I had a challenge defining 'sharp minds', but at the end of the day I interpreted it to mean a cocktail of qualities like brilliance, personality, argumentative skills, respectability,fact-based analysis etc.

Of course, my list was limited to those I come across very well. A lot of people here rate 4play and Katsumoto high, but they didn't feature in my list because I know very little about them.
That aside, somebody also mentioned factors such as seriousness, I agree some guys here are only catch fun here, that's why you don't see their 'brilliant' side. Dayokanu, for example, could be very playful but when you see him in serious discussions at times, you wonder whether it's another DK.
Ibime perfectly cuts a balance between seriousness and playfulness. Ajanlekoko is not known for frivolities. I have never even seen him use the grin emoticon before(lol).
Saga is another guy with fluid personality. I can go on and on, but without doubt, I admit there are brains on NL. Ibime predicted Intercontinental Bank crisis, with graphical analysis, far back February last year before Hurricane Sanusi swept through.
These are guys you read and feel happy NL is not just for fun, it's intellectual worth is not in doubt.
Add the Becomriches of this world to the above, and you have a good mix of fun and intellect.

What exactly do these people want? Haba, your son is the president, yet you're still making things difficult. Haba. Sometimes, one reasons with the use of force against these people a la Obasanjo

While every other person secularly analysing the issues I raised, the only thing you forced yourself to see was where I mentioned Pastors. Tell me you didn't read that piece, like any other post I make, with a bigotic mindset. This was glaring to even the only poster after you that asked you why you can be that cynical.
Islam › Re: Curious About Islam, facts About Islam. by Jarus(m): 6:55am On Oct 01, 2010
I know you are not olodo, but your brain fails you this time around.
Wasn't it clear enough from the article that, if anything, the pastors account of YRD's condition was the first I trusted, having been dismissing all prior press accounts as exaggerated. I gave kudos to the pastors for saying the actual condition they met YRD, while advising Turai that she needed to act fast and toe the path of honour.
But to you, I must not mention anything/anybody Christian. The earlier you shed that mindset, the better for you Madam.

Enter Tpia.

i'm not aware anyone knows she converted to islam and if she did, why would that be a reason for someone to attack her? Huh

you're projecting again, i see.
Hey Madam I know what I'm saying. Even somebody like me that was born a Muslim and flaunt it anywhere knows what i face in the open forum. The mere knowledge that you're a Muslim comes with hatred by some people. My only sin in teh sight of many nairalanders in the politics section is that I am a Muslim. So every thing you say or post, is looked at from the religious angle: You and Xavier are chief culprits here, incidentally.
Want evidences? one, https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-433412.0.html#msg5923696 and many more.

now, i want to assume her conversion has to do with her partner maybe, and if that's the case, most non-muslims marrying muslims know they might be asked to convert sooner or later?

she's been asking questions about islam for almost a year now, so i doubt most people would be surprised at this.

i know i'm not.
Off the mark again. Both she and her husband converted together.

Politics › Re: Can Goodluck Jonathan Lead Nigeria? by Jarus(m): 11:50pm On Sep 29, 2010
@df2006,
I don't deserve to be heard because I'm from Saraki's Kwara? Arguments can't get more more lugubrious. May I ask you a question? Should people of Ibadan not be listened to because Adedibu, barely literate, held the city to ransom for years and installed governors?
I am a proud Kwaran and I have spoken out against Saraki.

Your argument is only diversionary anyway, it doesn't invalidate any of the points I raised against GEJ in my ealier post.
Politics › Re: Can Goodluck Jonathan Lead Nigeria? by Jarus(m): 6:11am On Sep 29, 2010
Nobody is asking for dictatorial leadership, what we are saying is that he needs to get on top of the situation, which he doesn't appear to be now. That is why some of us laugh when we heard the part of his declaration speech that says 'my message to kidnappers etc is that they should be ready for a fight, ' as if he was not the one in office in the unprecendent surge of kidnapping in the last 5 months.
Save his vendetta tendency, Obasanjo remains one of our best president so far. His full control of national affairs and firm stand is what Nigeria need. After the death of a 'slow motion' Yar'adua, we can't afford to have another 'baba go slow'. We need a leader that will be on top of his job.
Islam › Re: Curious About Islam, facts About Islam. by Jarus(m): 3:10pm On Sep 28, 2010
I think this thread is better here for many reasons;
- it will generate a lot of issues and you know these trolls, and teh whole thread will turn into another thing
- Ifyalways is a popular person on NL, and I see people attacking her in other parts of the forum because of her change of faith
- Mukina and I will be accused of favouring Muslims because we did not put a similar thread from other religious section
Investment › Re: Top 10 Best Nig. Investment Banks In This Meltdown Period? by Jarus(m): 10:30am On Sep 28, 2010
hectorbanks:
Hi jarus,
With a background in engineering and STRONG desire for investment banking. Please how do i start.Like i asked in the other forum, how do i kick off.
To get entry level job in investment banking, many organizations will not shortlist your CV out of teh many CVs with them except you have finance or management background(Economics, Accounting etc) or degree in other areas but with finance certificates(e.g CIS, ACA etc) or prior practical experience in finance(maybe you served in bank, Investment banking institution etc).

This is unlike mainstream banking where for entry level, course of study is  almost irrelevant. The reason is that the rudiments of IB are quite technical and nobody has time to be teaching you the ABC of it. So it's easier to recruit someone that you won't have to explain what stock or fund or M&A or commercial paper  to or how stock exchange operates.

I will advise you to enroll for CIS, and garnish your CV while you're still writing it, and begin to circulate your CVs to investment banking insitutions.

Sports › Re: Nsofor Nominated For Caf African Player Of The Year Award by Jarus(m): 9:20am On Sep 28, 2010
omar22:
The award is for Jan to Dec, and Essien has been missing since last Dec to August this year, the award is a joke like the leader, I know since Nigeria decided not to vote for him for the FIFA president he has had his agenda against us, but all in all that list is a joke Kalou a bench warmer, Adebayour caused more trouble than playing, Kolo Toure was a joke in defence at Citeh!, Obina Nuff said!!!
I hate hearing arguments like this  angry
Point to a Nigerian player that deserved it and was not given. Please don't tell me Okocha played better than Eto'o in 2003-2005.
When Nigerians were dominating it(Rashidi 1993, Amuneke 1994, Kanu 1996, Ikpeba 1997, JJ 2nd by one vote in 1998, kanu 1999 - 5 years in a row, only Weah came in 1995 & Hadji 1998, others were Nigerians), was it not the same Hayatou that was there.

The earlier we realize that our football, and players, has suffered serious decline and we are now only in the class of Zambia, Mozambique, Benin Republic, the better for us.
