FamilyRe: How Young Is Too Young? by jasper7(m): 10:53am On Mar 05, 2015
I agree with you though, not every kid is a kid. And I am one who strongly believes Maturity is not determined by age. but no responsible "adult" should be caught pants down with a kid. That's just my opinion tho. To me it's just like sleeping with a someone who just got his/her heart broken or drunk or drugged or beating up a Lady or taking advantage of an 80 or 90 year old or my best friend's gal. One person has to take the moral high ground and that has to be the person with the more stable emotion.
FamilyRe: How Young Is Too Young? by jasper7(m): 10:41am On Mar 05, 2015
@safarigirl. the thing about statutory rape is this, a kid of 15 years is not emotionally stable enough to make some certain decisions, the older person should know better. No matter how u put it, it's still taking advantage of someone's instability. and to me, it's wrong. A 15year old can be an "Albert Einstein" and still not stable enough to make life changing decisions. There's a difference between being smart and being mature.

AgricultureRe: Where will you be on the 13th and 14th of March 2015? by jasper7(op): 11:14pm On Mar 01, 2015
I know alot of people believe so much in trainings, but the truth is 10% of the work comes from outward, while the rest of the 90 comes from within you. if you have not made a conscious decision to succeed in agribusiness, attending all the seminars, summits and training can contribute only 10% to your success. The remaining has to come from within.

As I await permission to share the info here, please just prepare yourself to do most of the work.

A lot of people have been through series of trainings in Thailand but yet, I still have them coming in to visit my farm to see how am doing it. because, they did not understand early that 90% of the success comes from within.

Sorry, the name of the company is Thai Agro and Allied Industries.

For the first time ever, their annual summit will be holding in Nigeria, In my beloved city owerri.

I'll be speaking for a few minutes, so will Jethro2 and Kalusam.

Everything I know, they taught me. The technology they practise is revolutionary, am practically in their debt for one reason, they did a very Not-Nigerian thing, instead of giving fish, they taught me how to fish.

I am supposed to be updated with details of the program 2moro.
AgricultureWhere will you be on the 13th and 14th of March 2015? by jasper7(op):
BEFORE YOU REGISTER FOR THE THAI AGRO AGRIBUSINESS SUMMIT, PLEASE READ THIS

Where will you be on the 13th and 14th of March 2015?

In 2011 Thai Agro and Allied Industries sent about 20 individuals for their first international Agribusiness Executives summit, to be trained in the areas of Vegetable, shrimp, rice and fish farming in Thailand.

I was opportuned to be a member of the team. Back then I was not exactly financially "comfortable" as I am now. It took every scrapping of penny for me to enroll in the summit. I remember the visa/transport/feeding/accommodation/conference fee cost about $5,000. and then it was really big money to me. It was a 3 weeks training

The training cost me time, money and alot of other things. But I made a conscious decision to go for the training and utilize everything I am taught. A decision which today has changed my life. (I cant say the same for the other 19 participants from Nigeria).

I have not missed a single international Summit ever since then.
Most are neither practising nor using the wealth of knowledge that has been shared with them. They saw the trip as a field trip or tourist trip and not an opportunity to make change and impart the nation.

Over the past 4years, since my return, I have freely trained over 500 individuals on agribusiness and vegetable farming. I own farms with monthly revenue in millions. Some people on Nairaland, Twitter, Facebook, BBM and whatsapp have also been beneficiaries of that one single sacrifice I made.

Don't get it twisted, the sacrifice was not just the fact that I spent time and money training in Thailand. Not at all, that was the easy part. The Difficult part was coming back home and starting up something!
So, before you answer my question at the beginning. you have to do a brief soul search and see if you are ready to:

1. Start something after the training? (No matter how small)
2. Make the Sacrifice of being at the Training?
3. Humble yourself to learn from practical Agribusiness Entrepreneurs and Be Bold enough to go out there and make some money.

If your Answer to this 3 questions is yes, Please go ahead to register for the training below.
But if it's no. Don't bother coming, because this training will be another money wasted. (Like the 19 participants)
NB: This is the first time the Thai Agro Executive Agribusiness summit will be holding in Nigeria. It might not hold here again after this. You can never be sure.

AgricultureRe: We Now Buy Plantain In Large Quantity by jasper7(m): 4:50pm On Feb 27, 2015
TAEpiphany:
Good-Evening bro,

Mmmmmmmmmhhh.........
We are gonna have to agree to disagree on this one.
The law of supply and demand states that if there is low supply and high demand, the price will be high. In contrast, the greater the supply and the lower the demand, the lower the price will be. Now you say demand exceeds supply, at what price? N30 per Kg? Well if there's massive desire for the product as you claim, trust me farmers will be selling for N300/kg, then you can rightfully say there's more demand than supply. Not because a group of people want supply every week at less than desirable price to the farmer.

The thing with plantain is that you will always sell, but at what price? For example you would like to buy at 30/Kg. A farmer that cannot find an alternative market will sell at that price out of desperation because a) It's perishable b) He can't find a better offer price. It tells me buyers are calling the shots. Now, that wouldn't be the case if demand was higher than supply and plantain was terribly scarce, then I'm sure you would be more than ready to buy at N150/kg, you get my drift?

Same thing happens in Mile12, there are times a dozen is sold at N18000 - N24000, recently same bunch of same quality, was between N1500- N4000.
How do you explain that? Glut, there were trailer loads of plantains without enough buyers at that present time. If demand is truly and steadily always higher than supply then we would have a steady market rate for plantain. A lot of people have gone into plantain farming, I'm sure they heard that plantain was selling for N2000 per bunch, well that's was because it was scarce at that time and people would pay a premium to buy it. Funny thing is no matter how cheaply the plantain is bought it never reflects in prices to direct consumers. If there's a price change it will just be slightly lower. For example, we know that a good packet of plantain chips/boli on the street of Lagos goes for an average of N100, whether the seller bought a bunch of plantain for N150 or N1500.
well composed and articulated posts sir, with a good knack for economics. nice one.

Let me just say this. what every farmer prays for is ready made market for his product. if that market comes in form of a supply contact at a reasonable price then that's fantastic.

Because, that will help the farmer know how to plan his production cost and also cut down on wastage.

The truth remains that you can't get contract supply at the peak price, this is because come scarcity or glut your selling price remains the same. the price usually has to fall between the peak price and the least price.

AgricultureRe: My 1 Million Naira Alternative To Cucumber (agribusiness 101) [a Must Read] by jasper7(op): 7:14am On Feb 27, 2015
@saliubello. You are absolutely right. Just look at the state of the environment of most fresh food market and you'll see that it's a no go area for branded products.

Nevertheless, I am of the school of thought that the we Nigerians must not continue to live and eat like pigs. we deserve better quality and healthy products, sold in a decent environment. not mile12, bodija and the rest of them. Lol

Believe me, the state of those selling points is a cause of major concern to alot of people, but as my friend hotmas911 will always say "when people see problem, I see opportunity". we have to be thinking in that direction, so that our problems will be solving one after the other.

To them, she's a celebrity, super model and super hero. and that could be all that matters to her.
