He probably got denied because of the following reasons:

He earns just a lil over $800 per month <= not enough money considering he has two dependants

He has no travel history <= a big red flag after the insufficient income has been taken into account

He has family ties in America<= he is most likely not going to come back after taking the first two points into consideration

On the more serious note though, rejection is hard to take more so if the initial approach was made by the girl. You have to be mature in dealing with her obvious dissapointment. Explain to her that you appreciate the friendship that you have and would have dated her if the other extenuating circumstances where different.
Reassure her that you value your friendship with her and wouldn't want it to suffer because of this

You can certainly control the power of attraction (physical) except you've had to allow the suspected benefits he brought to the table cloud your judgement.


Atraction is different from personality

@Jaybee3, I would really love to work, in fact I'm not the lazy type of guy and I used to work before now. But the thing is, what I'm considering now is the long term and future effect of leaving him to start working on my own again or staying put.

Well you can’t really leave certainty for uncertainty at the minute simply because you had be taking too much risk without having any buffer whatsoever

You need to do the following:
1) Think deeply to arrive at an answer to the “Where I see myself in the next year or two” question
2) You need to have a plan in place in order to achieve the goals in point 1
3) You need communicate your expectations and goals to the dude that’s currently helping you.
4) You need to stop betting as a matter of urgency as you are more closer to destruction than salvation with bookies as your backbone
5) You need to cultivate the habit of savings
6) You need to stop feeling sorry for yourself and believe you shall rule/shape your own destiny

Nothing stops you from working as a customer service assistant at eateries or any of the shops at the numerous malls scattered around Lagos.

There was power outage in the building and he was contracted to fix the problem. He eventually came and claimed to have fixed the problem, collected his pay and left.
