A young boy identified as Emmanuel Okafor in Primary six, built an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) out of carton, IgbereTV reports.

The ATM works like the regular electronic ATM that is being used by banks.

Emmanuel equipped it with the necessary electrical connection to enable it work with ATM cards and the innovative product dispenses cash once a normal bank card is inserted into it.

In a video which is captured by IgbereTV, he carried out a little demonstration for people to witness how it works.

The talented boy powered the carton-ATM with a generator and inserted a card, after which he inputted a password and it dispensed some cash which he had earlier put into the machine.

"What a year it has been! After a series of postponements due to unforeseen circumstances, I eventually had my convocation ceremony yesterday - Wednesday, December 16th, 2020.

For most of the day: I wrestled with the nostalgic feelings of fulfillment, anxiety, and accomplishment. Graduating with a record setting CGPA of 4.95 was by no measure a small feat. More importantly, I am particularly glad to acknowledge how well I maximized campus life - even beyond academic excellence.

Growing up, my parents did not have too much but they made difficult sacrifices and poured all they had into me and my siblings. Hence, having my parents around me to celebrate with me was fulfilling. I was glad to see them get the recognition they so much deserve - particularly for the sacrifices they made for me and my siblings over the years.

Operatives of the newly launched security outfit in Cross River state "Operation Akpakwu" have arrested a notorious kidnap kingpin identified as Etim Etim Bassey and members of his gang, IgbereTV reports.

The suspect and his gang members were arrested on Tuesday, December 8 around the Anantigha axis of Calabar South following credible intelligence report.

The same day at noon, another set of daredevil kidnappers met their waterloo in the hands of the operation "Akpakwu" operatives stationed around Mary Slessor Roundabout in the metropolis.

The kidnappers had emerged from a vehicle, violently sized a middle aged man waiting for a taxi by the roadside and whisked him away.

However, the Operation "Akpakwu" patrol team stationed nearby gave the kidnappers a hot chase, prompting them to abandon their victim in their get away car opposite the Cross River State Ministry of information and fled to the adjacent Spar shopping Mall where they mixed with genuine shoppers.

But determined to smoke them out, the operatives cordoned off the shopping Mall and eventually arrested them.

Meanwhile, in line with its mandate, security agents attached to Operation "Akpakwu" have commenced house to house search for kidnappers and other criminal elements in Calabar.

The Cross River state government has sued for residents' cooperation and understanding as the outfit embarks on stop and search operations.

A statement issued Tuesday by Special Adviser to GovernorAyade on Media and Publicity, Christian Ita explained that the exercise was aimed at "rooting criminal elements out of the state".

Ayade had, while launching the security outfit, declared war on the kidnappers and other criminals in the state, asking them to relocate from Cross River, especially, Calabar, or face the wrath of his government.

Local Govt Staff In Benue Burns Himself To Death Over Unpaid Three Years Allowance (Photos)

A young Benue local government staff died on Wednesday morning, December 9, after setting himself ablaze over alleged non-payment of three years allowance, IgbereTV reports.

The young man identified as Aondona Yaga was until his death, a casual staff at the Gwer local government secretariat, Aliade.

According to his grandmother who was seen around his abandoned corpse, the young man had been facing difficulty because he wasn't paid his allowance for almost three years.

He eventually fell sick and couldn't find money to treat himself. Frustrated, he decided to end his life. On Wednesday morning, he entered his thatched room and set it on fire.

Information Officer of Gwer Local Government, Mr. Chris Avi has confirmed the incident but didn't give further details.

The Niger State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber, Mohammed Sani for killing a commercial motorcyclist in Zengeru town, IgbereTV reports.

Spokesperson of the command, ASP Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the arrest in a statement on Wednesday, said the suspect and his gang members lured the deceased to a forest where they hacked him to death with a machete and made away with his motorcycle.

"On 07/12/2020 at about 1700hrs, based on a tip-off. Police Operatives attached to Zungeru Division arrested one Mohammed Sani 25yrs 'm' of Sahon-Rami Mashegu LGA who boarded an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle with three others," the statement says.

"On reaching a point along the forest around Government Day Secondary School, Zungeru, the suspects pulled out a rope, tied the rider and matcheted him while Mohammed was given the motorcycle to ride to Kebbi State,"

"He was later arrested by Joint Police/Viglantee on patrol along Zungeru-Wushishi road and led the Police to the scene where the victim was laying dead with deep cut on the neck. The corpse was taken to General Hospital Wushishi for autopsy,"

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and mentioned three others; Ishau, Yahuza and Sani who are currently at large. The case is under investigation and effort is on going to arrest the fleeing suspects.

The body of a yet-to-be identified woman was found dumped at Osuntokun Avenue, Bodija, in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital on Tuesday, December 8, IgbereTV reports.

The Fast-Track Emergency Rescue Operation squad of the Oyo State Road Transport Management Agency (OYRTMA) were called to the scene at about 11am.

They arrived, removed the remains and deposited it at the Adeoyo Hospital's Mortuary, Ibadan.

The Bauchi State Police Command have confirmed the death of a suspected armed robber in Duwaduwa village, Local Government Area of the state, IgbereTV reports.

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Ahmed Mohammad Wakil, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday, December 4, said armed hoodlums invaded the village on Tuesday night, attacked a man with cutlass and made away with his brand new motorcycle.

"On the 01/12/2020 at about 0700hrs following a credible information received from a good Samaritan at Zaki Divisional Police Headquarters that on the same date at about 0230hrs some group of hoodlums armed with bow, arrow and cutlasses numbering about five suspected to be motorcycle snatchers invaded Duwaduwa village murmur ward via Sakwa district a remote area," said Wakil.

"They attacked and matchetted one Muhammadu Adamu ‘m’ of Duwaduwa village with cutlasses in his house located at Duwa Duwa village thereby robbed and made away with his brand-new Bajaj motorcycle unregistered valued about N270,000 (two hundred and seventy thousand naira) "

Wakil said that while the victim was lying down in a pool of blood, he raised alarm, some angry villagers mobilized and chased the hoodlums.

Eventually, one of the hoodlums identified as Sani Alhaji Dalori was caught and lynched by the angry villagers while the remaining gang of the hoodlums escaped with the motorcycle to an unknown destination.

"On receipt of the information, team of detectives led by the DPO visited the scene of crime, corpse of the suspected hoodlum moved to General Hospital Zaki for postmortem. During investigation search was conducted at the house/premises of the suspect. One locally made SMG riffle was recovered. The Commissioner of Police directed that the case to be transferred to SCID for discreet investigation." the statement reads.

Exhibit recovered from the scene include one locally made SMG riffle, cutlass, bow and arrow.
