In an Interview with AFP on Friday in Abuja, Atiku Abubakar blasts Goodluck Jonathan’s administration saying him and the ruling party PDP lacks the political will to end the Boko Haram insurgency that has been killing citizens since 2009. Excepts below: “This insurgency shouldn’t have lasted even six months,” he told AFP in Abuja and recalled sectarian religious violence in the northeast state of Yobe during his time in office. “Within weeks we crushed it because we did not neglect military training and, of course, we did not lack the leadership and the capacity to take decisions. “I told Nigerians that he (Jonathan) did not have the capacity, he didn’t have the experience. He didn’t have anything and yet they gave him the chance, the opportunity,” “And they can now see the chance and the opportunity they gave him. Of course I’m more experienced than he is. I believe my capacity cannot be compare with his, in all respect.” he said. Abubakar said he will make his intentions known if he will contest for the presidency or not on the 26th of September 2014. www.jayboss..com/2014/09/i-am-more-experienced-than-jonathan.html?m=1 |
Apple iPhone and iPad users have taken to social media to express their frustration over installing the company’s latest software update. Many have resorted to deleting photos, videos and other files in order to free up space for the new version of Apple’s mobile operating system, iOS8, which requires up to 5.8GB of storage. Apple has also removed apps for its new health software because of a bug. One expert said Apple’s updates were often prone to “teething problems”. Some vexed Apple users took to Twitter to express their annoyance, at one point causing the subject to be trending above the Scottish referendum. David Roberts tweeted: “This update would be great… If you didn’t have to delete half of the stuff on your phone just to install it.” Daniel Zennon took a more humorous approach, tweeting: “So Apple put the #U2 album on everybody’s phone and then tell them they don’t have enough space for the #iOS8 upgrade”. This is not the first time Apple users have had trouble with iOS updates. In 2012, the iOS6 update caused some users to lose their apps, and others lost photos and messages when updating to iOS7 last year. As well as requiring a lot of storage, the latest version, iOS8, does not include apps that run with Apple’s new HealthKit service, which is designed to work with third-party wearable health devices. The software was originally scheduled for release in iOS8, but has been pulled while Apple works on fixing a bug. David Price, online editor at Macworld UK, told the BBC the issues were not “really a surprise”. “There’s always a rush on the servers on launch day, some delays, and usually some teething problems,” he said. “That’s why we always recommend that people wait a day or two before updating.” Apple users can avoid the need to free up storage space for the latest update by upgrading their software via iTunes on a Mac or PC, instead of through the phone or tablet itself. Additionally, much of the free space required by the update is made available again once the installation process has completed. www.punchng.com/news/users-frustrated-by-apple-ios-update/ |

Nigerian blogger, Linda Ikeji, recently acquired the 2014 Range Rover Sport Supercharged for N24m and if you thought the over-3000 comments on the post she put up at 12:47am on Tuesday was clear indication she had an idea of what was about to come after, you should read up the ones on Facebook and you’d be amazed. The reactions that followed the post are by far a beautiful mixture of glee and antagonism as expected of course, vanity and pride being the most mentioned. The question then is, was Ikeji right to have purchased the car? I’m unabashedly happy for her, knowing she has come a long way like she mentioned in the post and ‘deserving’ would be an understatement. But is she right to buy a N24m car? Of course she is! It is her money like she rightly said and she has every right to how she spends it. She doesn’t owe anyone any obligation whatsoever morally or otherwise. Societal expectations have and will always be an obstacle to what anyone wants to do. We’ve seen ugly reactions to expenditures done so buoyantly by the rich and flamboyantly displayed. Everyone expects you to save the world rather than spend a few bucks on yourself. It’s a human (read Nigerian) thing and so, yes, a larger negative reaction is expected when that need is neglected. But my question is, was she right to have publicly displayed it (like she does of others) on her blog? On that, I have my reservations. Linda has a reputation for showing off things. There was, in fact, an incident where her sister supposedly put up receipts of her shopping in Dubai and posts of houses she built for her father, not to mention those on former automobiles. Now, I still don’t have a problem with that. What she chooses to post on her blog is entirely her business but why seek validation for a decision she took alone. First off, saying her father ‘’finally gave the permission’’ leaves a lot on the mind to ponder on why she needed his permission in the first place? Did she need his permission? If she did, isn’t that a family matter? Then she went ahead to talk about feeling guilty for acquiring the car. Why would you venture into something to come out publicly to then say you feel guilty about it? For the purpose of public sympathy? No member of that public is going to take turns driving the car, so why the need to explain yourself? I believe if you want to do something and you’re convinced within you that it is what you want to do, then you damn the consequences and do it. At least, take a cue from the lives of the people whose stories you post on the blog for doing similar thing. They don’t come back after the post to apologise for it. If you’re afraid of the reactions that would follow or you feel like you have compromised the trust of your followers by almost proving you “are better than them”, then why post it in the first place? Notwithstanding, a lot of people did find the post inspiring. I thought it was a good chip in. What with the need to be your own (wo)man and not be dependent on men. Ironically, among the people that were asked, it was only a man who found that post really inspiring, considering the fact that it was written for girl power over man. What happened to independence of the male folks as well? Speaking vis-à-vis equality. Who says the men don’t need such liberation as well, why limit it to women? Then what killed me was the need to start a campaign right after the announcement (and would there be a bigger giveaway if this hadn’t happened?) Really? It all reeks of validation and the need for it. www.jayboss..com/2014/09/linda-ikejis-new-range-rover-inspiring.html?m=1

According to Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary Windfall is an amount of money that somebody receives unexpectedly. Now if you are not careful in handling your windfall, it will disappear unexpectedly the way it came. It is estimated that up to 70% of those who suddenly receive large amounts of money will lose it within just a few years. When correctly handled, a windfall can provide huge benefits that will continue beyond the lifetime of the initial recipient and can grow into a lasting financial legacy. For others who become overwhelmed regretfully they may end up far worse off than before. Now the question is what would you do if you suddenly came into a large sum of money? Would you make a down payment on a property, buy yourself a new car, start a business, put it away for your retirement, or just go on a wonderful spending spree? www.jayboss..com/2014/09/financial-windfallsfleeting-good.html?m=1

According to research, Ebola virus outbreak starts when someone comes into contact with body fluids or waste of infected animals such as monkeys, chimps or fruit bats. Once a person is infected, he or she can then spread it to others, the way late Patrick Sawyer brought it into Nigeria and spread it to others including Dr. Stella Adedavoh which lead to her death and others. There are five different types of Ebola virus which include 1.Budibugyo Ebola Virus (BDBV) 2.Zaire Ebola Virus (EBOV) 3.Reston Ebola Virus (RESTV) 4.Sudan Ebola Virus (SUDV) 5.Tai Forest Ebola Virus (TAFV) BADV, EBOV and SUDV have been associated with large EVD outbreaks in Africa where as RESTV and TAFV have not. The RESTV species found in Philippines and the People's Republic of China can infect humans but no illness has been reported to date but the remaining four species are known to cause disease in humans. The Ebola virus was first discovered in 1976 in Africa, Ebola virus gets it's name from Ebola river which is near one of the villages in the Democratic Republic of Congo where the disease first appeared. How Do I Prevent Ebola Virus Outbreak ? There is no known vaccine to prevent or cure Ebola except the USA's Zmapp manufactured by Glaxo Smith Kline that cured two American doctors and was tested on a monkey recently, and the monkey later tested negative to Ebola. Zmapp has not been officially released in the market as it is still under the experimental stage but the known preventive steps to avoid catching the disease is by not traveling to areas where the virus is found and washing of hands regularly with water and soap and applying sanitizers on the hands. Health care workers can prevent infection by wearing masks, gloves and googles whenever they come into contact with people who may have the Ebola virus. www.jayboss..com/2014/09/what-causes-ebola-virus-outbreak.html?m=1

These are the 10 unknown facts you don't know about Korede Bello of Mavins Records put together by his female fan. I hope she's not having a crush on him o....her words below. This one is for my #bellovers and non-bellovers too. People constantly ask me why I like Korede Bello so much. They do not understand that it’s not for superficial reasons so i decided to do this. TEN THINGS I LOVE ABOUT @koredebello 1. His HUMILITY-This definitely is number 1. It always gets me. But like i always say, the way up is down. 2. His VOICE-He is extraordinarily talented. His smooth voice always provides a sort of comfort zone for me. 3. HIS DRESS SENSE-Simple but he always looks like a #DoroMegaSuperStar. (The necklace). No blings and things that attract unnecessary attention. 4. He does not take things for granted. His fans mean a lot to him. He can sacrifice even his sleep just so he can retweet and reply them or repost their pictures and videos. 5. He is a HUSTLER. Not in the razz sense of the word but he will not stop until he gets where God has destined for him to be. 6. He is FUNNY. Several times my mom has had cause to question my sanity because I am laughing so hard at something he said. 7. He is SPONTANEOUS. Á la his dorobucci fuji remix. I laugh every time i see it. 8. He is SWEET. If you are his friend, he will stop at nothing to see you happy. He will stay up till 12 midnight to wish you happy birthday and start fighting over who was first to wish *shines teeth* (But korede dont lie, u know i won!) 9. He is FRIENDLY. This ought to be number one because this is my primary reason for being a #bellover . He manages to make time out of no time for his friends and fans. He tries as much as possible to reply without hurting your feelings. He is also an UnderG Pastor. His prayers are #GBAM 10. Now I made this number ten because people tend to think its number one but I want them to know there are more important things, but I will not lie o. He is CUTE. His youthful looks endear him to many including Your’s Truly. BONUS: He may or may not know this but he unites his fans in a way no other celeb has been able to do. By being a bellover, i have met some of the most awesome people ever. Now you see why I can never stop repping the #BelloverMovement. Please feel free to add yours or even re-do your own TEN THINGS. I have not been following or watching this guy but according to what this girl wrote here Korede is a nice guy....I loved the way he sang in Dorobucci www.jayboss..com/2014/09/female-fan-reveals-korede-bello-hot.html?m=1

The Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, has rejected the Monday September 22nd resumption directive given by FG to all Primary and Secondary schools due to the Ebola outbreak in Nigeria. The NMA speaking through its National Publicity Secretary, Dr Olawunmi Layaki, said they expect all schools to remain closed until December or early next year when all Ebola suspects under surveillance have been cleared and certified free of the virus. "We are not happy with this decision on the resumption of schools. Schools should be shut till the last suspected case or patient is certified free of the virus. We can shift the resumption date till next year or in the next three months if that is the time it will take. Government should have enough time to follow the standard procedure for containing the virus. Parents have no reason to be in a hurry because if Ebola should enter any school, it will assume another dimension. Children cannot survive isolation like adults. Nigeria is peculiar because of her large population and we should be pragmatic and proactive. It will not augur well for the country if we have another outbreak due to carelessness.” it said In the same vein, the chairman of the Lagos state chapter of the association, Dr Tope Ojo said most public schools lack basic hygienic facilities and this would expose the students to easy spread of the virus. "It would not have cost the Federal Government anything to have waited till those under surveillance have completed the 21 days in all the states where they are being monitored. The government knows that it takes a longer time for children to get used to the idea of hygiene and sanitation. They are even more vulnerable because they would play with each other whether they are sick or not. How many children know that they should use hand sanitizers or avoid contact with anybody that has fever? Waiting till October when at least the situations in Rivers and Lagos states would have been conclusively managed is another safety measure the government should have taken. These kids are not studying to get a degree, so we are sure it would not have affected schools’ curricula.” he said http://jayboss..com/2014/09/doctors-reject-september-22-schools.html
