seunlayi: I can't see any difference between the two parties anymore, allowing People to join you from a party you claimed is bad and corrupt. Tambuwal had always maintained the principle of separation of power between the House of Representatives and the Presidency. Despite being the a member of the ruling PDP, he spoke out against the excesses of the Presidency. Remember he famously said that the President's body language suggests he encourages corruption. He was neutral and non-partisan in the discharge of his duty as Speaker. He did not make the house a mere rubber stamp of the Presidency and PDP just as the Senate has become. All these could be attributed to the circumstances that led to his emergence as speaker. |

Gbawe: Koro-mi, Koro-bucci . Even as this is not confirmed, I would not be surprised if it is true given the character of "Koro-bucci". I think we all know frivolity, pettiness and agberoism is the style of Obanikoro. Unfortunately for him, Lagosians are not interested in Tinubu's teeth. Lagosians want progress and they know Obanikoro does not represent this at all. All Korobucci needs is to draft Tiwa Savage, Don Jazzy et al into his team to complete the band of entertaining clowns Lagosians view him to be about these days.
This immature outburst one would expect from a 5 year old kid, rather than a politician who wants to lead one of the biggest mega-cities in the world, damns Obanikoro as a 'Dinosaur' politicians who still thinks this is the outdated "do or die" days of the past PDP revelled in. I respect intelligent people, you are one. |

Politics › Re: Supreme Court Sacks Delta Lawmaker, Orders Salary Refund by jaymichael(m): 9:41am On Oct 25, 2014 |
akinsadeez: Salary Refund? that's weird.
I am of the opinion that the supreme court justices in this case have allowed their emotions to override their sense of law. I quite understand that they are very displeased with Inec's blatant complicity in denying the petitioner his right but they awarded 650,000 naira cost against both Inec and the respondent in this case. The salary refund is like double killing.
The salary that the man was paid was for basically for the services/functions that he rendered as a member of the state house of assembly. Now can the supreme court also order that all comments, arguments that the man proffered on the floor of the house be erased? Can they order that all the bills and motions that the man might have introduced be wiped off the record.
Oyinlola as governor of Osun state had spent almost the four years of his second term before the court declared Aregbesola as the rightfully elected governor. Imagine the court now giving an order that he should return all the salaries he earned for the three years he illegally occupied the seat. To justify that, you have to find a way of also reversing all the projects he did in those three years because he was paid for functioning as the governor.
To me, this seems like another Amaechi kinda judgment. The supreme court might be setting a dangerous precedent. I think you have a very strong point. |

I have said it before on a tread that APUGA has been sold for a plate of nkwobi and a carton of hero beer. What if Tinubu had left (sold out) AC(N) even when the party was controlling only one state and even at that was facing strong persecution from the Obasanjo led federal government. He stood firm, nurtured the party, reclaimed the SW, now the party (through its merger with other poitical parties) has turned out to be a great opposition force to curtail the excesses of the ruling party and is poised to take over the central government from the ruling party. For this, I will always respect the man Tinubu. Yet some ignorant folks across the bridge will come online and throw wild and baseless bashing against a man they don't even know.It is so easy for people to hate, envy and become jealous of you when you are successful but they do not know how much time, efforts and sleepless nights and sacrifices you have put into achieving your goal. LESSON: Whatever is your defined political fortunes and interests, nobody dashes you on a platter of gold, you fight for that which you want and not by yansh-licking AGIP. |

Seun: Hello,
I'm working on a modification to our rules that will make it an offence to disrespect government officials and call them derogatory names on Nairaland. The objective is to prepare Nairaland for a time when the Nigerian Government may not be able to tolerate such things. Currently it's against our rules to deliberately insult a Nairaland member, so we will just be extending this rule to make it cover government officials too.
What are your comments on this? I promise to read all your comments, though I can't promise to reply all of them, of course.
Thanks! Lai lai! you will have to ban all of us. Anyone who feels insulted can sue for libel. Afterall, David Mark Called all of us miscreants during the fuel subsidy protest. The government insults us daily in its handing of the affairs of the nation. This is our avenue to hit back. We will resist any attempt to curtail our freedom of speech. Don't make us believe that you ve been bought. |

Meanwhile, can the APC attack dogs share with us what the APC governors have been doing with their share of partial subsidy removal funds? Mr despicable, you disgust me. Government achievements re not meant to be seen on the pages of paper or the internet, It should be seen and felt physically by the people. If i need to see the achievements of the Lagos state government, I need only leave my house, walk around two or three streets around my neighborhood. The roads, the refurbished schools, the hospitals, working government institutions are all testament to the handiwork of a working government. Jonathan is a morbidly corrupt corpse-rotten drunkard. Tell him Jaymichael says so. When his disgrace comes, it shall affect all his yansh lickers like you. shame on you and your likes. #Spits on your face |

DTaj: Thanks, Jay. The 'misty eyes' part is so apt. Without a shred of doubt, Fashola is easily Nigeria's best State Governor!
Anyone (I mean any objective person not tainted with hatred, ethnic bigotry, and political affiliations) who lived in Lagos between 1980 and now would have seen a remarkable difference when you have an intellectual, methodical, brilliant, and purposeful person as Governor!
The other day, his official car waited in traffic in Yaba like any other Lagosian, no harrasment of other road users, no siren, no noise, no fuss. And guess what? The entire back seat of his car was filled with books! To the brim! A mind that reads would always be nourished. No wonder, most times I've seen him deliver speeches in public (at least about 22 times since 2007), more than half of his speeches are always done extempore with figures, facts, and illustrations (without looking at any paper or written text). He has an idea about almost everything- health, politics, law (his forte), sociology, religion, classics, languages, psychology, administration, human rights, physical planning, building, infrastructure, oil and gas. Name it!
While most other Governors are busy commissioning boreholes and other token projects that a local government councilor could comfortably execute, Governors like Fashola, Akpabio, Kwankwanso, Amosun, are launching landmark projects that will impact their people and positively outlive them!
In a sane country, where primordial sentiments are not deeply rooted, a FASHOLA/AKPABIO Presidential ticket in 2015 would have been so ideal!
God bless Nigeria and Nigerians! You ve said it all. Men like these make me believe in the "Nigerian dream". Also no forgetting Donald Duke. Big Kudos also to the commissioners and technocrats that are contributing greatly to this "project Lagos" most especially Dr Jide Idris. you all have written your name in gold in the annals of history. Baba Tinubu (idobale ni mowa) thank you for "imposing" Fashola on us. I just hope that by 2019 and beyond, we will be believing strongly in the "Spirit of Nigeria" just as we believe in the "Spirit of Lagos" |

One of the most humble, down to earth man you can ever come across. He used to come to our room during my days at AOCOED. My roommate then (just like OBJ) had the very special talent for knowing people that matters. We lived like 4 houses apart (forgotten the name of the street) opposite police station bus stop Ijanikin. He was the most loved among the Theatre arts students alongside his very good friend Gbenga Windapo who taught us drama minor. He is many times funnier than Saka. I knew they were very very close but I never knew that they have come a long way together. They are even friends on the sitcom "house apart" where Saka sells herbal medicines called AGUNMU and Windapo played an unserious jobless man. Off the screen, saka has a serious minded countenance. |
