I understand the bass part as the root well. But this root 6 and 5 I don't understand. And then what is caged system please? Thanks.
A root 6 chord is one that has the root on the 6th (lowest string). A root 5 chord has its root on the 5th chord.

denkyw:
came accross this thread a year ago when i was still learning newly to playing guitar, i thought the thread was dead then, but am glad am seeing a revival.
i now know most of the basic chords like the GCDEm, A &Am chords and can play preferably any song of any progression on this.
problem is, am stock on this as i don't know what else or what stage to move next to, cause i dont have a tutor to guide me. initially when i first picked up the guitar, my goal and passion was to be able to play my favourite songs on the guitar. now that have archieved that i feel like its mission accomplished, but it has now become boring and i want to learn something new.(i play mostly strumming)
i will appreciate any suggestions on what next i should learn how to do with the guitar. sorry for the long post.
What you need to do next is pick out a few guitar players in the genre you like and listen to them. You will surely hear some challenging stuff and that will keep you going for a while. Rinse and repeat.

Thanks man, I'm currently working on this. It's been a little difficult getting the CAGED system but I believe I'll get it with time.
You surely will get it.
Music/RadioRe: A thread for acoustic guitarist: beginners, amateurs and professionals by jayriginal: 4:03pm On Sep 14, 2016
cee001 and An0nimus,

Scoring Nigerian songs isnt that difficult. It wont hurt to learn some basic theory first though as it will guide your playing through easier channels.

That said, do you know your Root 6 and Root 5 chords (for major, minor and dominant 7). If you dont, try and learn them, then also try and familiarize yourself with the caged system.

Once that is done, start with a simple Nigerian song (ie one that has a simple progression). As you gain proficiency, you can move to more complex songs. What you do is pick out the bass notes of the song and play the bass through the changes. Use only your 6th and fifth strings for this. Once you can play the bass notes (most likely the bass notes being played are the roots of the chords) its time to put the full chord on top and strum along. You will have to figure out if the chords are major, minor, or dominant.

For extra points, you should also do ear training. This will help greatly.

PassingShot:
You'd think being educated translates to being well informed. Unfortunately the first doesn't guarantee the later.
Anyone who keeps saying we should stop blaming GEJ is being economical with the truth. The truth is GEJ wrecked Nigeria with his handling of the economy. He didn't have to blame anyone before him because NO ONE ELSE had been so clueless, dull and Ineffectual as himself.

If we still have any truly sane man doubting that Nigeria would have been long grounded had GEJ managed to rig himself in, such person needs to be constantly reminded where the Ineffectual Buffoon left us:
1. The IB was already borrowing to pay salaries when crude was selling at $75 per barrel. At $40 per barrel, what miracle will he have done?

2. The paper Economist, who supervised crashing of the economy clearly stated that Nigerians should brace up for tough times ahead the moment crude fell to around $65 per barrel. Does tough times mean merry making times at $40 per barrel?

3. Despite earning unprecedented amounts from crude, the IB couldn't grow our reserves but even embezzled what he met.

4. About 28 of 36 States were owing their workers for up to eight months in some cases and there was already hunger in the land. Why didn't GEJ bail them out? Had Buhari not come to intervene just about three months into his tenure, what would have happened to those workers then?

Recently, the Gele woman who couldn't choose to resign to protect her name, revealed in a well publicized video that GEJ had zero will to save. Where there's shame, she will apologize to Nigerians for wasting our resources in times of abundance.

Nigerians indeed lack capacity for critical thinking. And it's the reason we will continue to be taken for a ride by the looters. We see those who genuinely are working for our betterment as enemies while blindly praising the real enemies as benefactors just because of crumbs of today. This is indeed very shameful!
The strenuous lengths people go to to rewrite history is amazing. With frenzied paranoia, they accuse others of hating Jonathan whereas they are the ones with rabid animosity towards Buhari. To be fair, Buhari is no magician but it would take more than magic to satisfy my countrymen.

I keep telling all who care to listen that the fact that Jonathan lost to Buhari is an indictment on Jonathan.

Police can search and even detain without a warrant on "reasonable suspicion". This reasonable suspicion isn't well defined, hence the abuse by the police.

LadyMercedes:
I don't know if this is the right section to post this.

I've always wondered what's so wrong in collecting/giving items, using your left hand?

If one tries to give/collect an item to/from someone (usually, older people), it gets rejected, with a stern remark... "use your right hand".

What's the big deal? A hand is a hand. If the left hand is so "bad", why not cut it off?

Or, is there more to it?
Most people are born right handed. Only the greatest overcome it.

Stoned? = wrong grammar
Stoned= A state of mind which occurs after smoking enough marijuana to the point where the user stares blankly into whatever catches his/her attention.
E.g

Hauled missile should be a better phrase.

N/B stoned is totally different from "stoning"... .. .. Which is a form of capital punishment by hauling stone at someone until person kick the bucket

Brother its not about age, its about being ready. Another way to put it would be whatever age you have attained by the time you are ready.

Whenever you are ready, regardless of age.

Ready means you can live up to the responsibility of marriage (and caring for dependants).

PS
Marriage isnt for everyone.

See why I called you a Hypocrite? Does that passage commends men to rape women as a bases for marriage? But why will I expect someone who is on Satan's side to see it when it's in them to do wrong?

(For those reading) That passage addresses a crucial matter. If a man rapes a woman, he leaves emotional scars on her. He leaves a stigma, a lebel on her person. She becomes an Anathema, a reproach, no man will ever touch her afterwards. For the Rapist's punishment, he must pay a huge amount of money to her parents as bride price (50 Shekels of Silver is not meager). And takes away to his house as his Perpetual wife.
(Our Lord Jesus was sold for 30 Shekels of Silver and it want meager either) .
He shall not, and must not under any circumstances devorce her. You don't dn't destroy her and leave her to suffer.

THIS IS JUSTICE IF YOU ASK ME. But, no, you can't see that can you.

Again I ask you, if Jehovah permits it, why do you feel insulted at me saying your parents did it? Aren't all out parents Christians? It will be foolish for you to get angry at this.
Unbelievable!
