i have an issue with the F.AS.T key of my 2008 outlander oo. mechanic placed both key and phone together and caused electrical interference. dont know how bad the impact is. but currently, the Key Fob doesnt communicate with the car; doesnt open/lock doors or enable keyless ignition. trouble code is B1A08. been using the emergency key in the Key Fob for the last few days. how do i fix this ?

i think you should call this number; 07055777557, 08023208996, Simple ideas Mechanics; the mechanic there is real good. he just fixed my 2008 outlander. it was also switching off in motion and giving me varieties of other issues.

thanks for your info. the mechanic used a digital scanner which gave live readings on the MAP sensor, last reading was 31kpa. i'm keeping my eyes on the other code- P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected. what do you think?

How this sensor works :The "brainbox" uses the MAP to monitor engine load, The "brainbox" PCM supplies a 5 Volt reference signal to the MAP sensor. Usually the PCM also supplies a ground circuit to the MAP sensor as well. As the manifold pressure changes with load, the MAP sensor input informs the PCM. At idle the voltage should be 1 to 1.5 Volts and approximately 4.5 Volts at Wide Open Throttle (WOT). The PCM looks for any change in manifold pressure to be preceded by a change in engine load in the form of changes in throttle angle, engine speed, or Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) flow. If the PCM doesn't see any of these factors change while detecting a rapid change in MAP value, it will set a P0106.

The following could be symptomatic of a P0106:

Engine runs rough
Black smoke at tailpipe
Engine will not idle
Poor fuel economy
Engine misses at speed

How to test: with a multi meter search for ground(-) and 5v(+) at map socket with ignition on, the third pin will give varying output between 1-4.5v depending on engine load and only when engine is running and the signal sent straight to the (brainbox)pcm if you don't have the voltages I just mentioned check harness/wiring. Or better still tell us what voltage you have.

Please note:I'm assuming your (wiring) harness has not yet been abused or damaged.

Also using live data from an obdII diagnostic tool you can monitor the performance of the MAP.

Note: DO NOT use an analogue multimeter to test sensors use a digital meter please.

yes the car starts and i even drive it around town, only that i cant go beyond 60kph. moreso at other times it jerks like the car doesnt want to go on and then go off even at low speeds.

from my research of the codes i mentioned the symptoms of the car are exactly as captured under P0300 engine misfire and P0106- MAP sensor range.

i suspect its not an ECU problem but what can i do?

DECOtech: With these codes, I won't be quick to point accusing fingers at your ECU. But then, the engine shut off. Does it start presently?

when scanned it gave the following codes:

code 1- P0106 BAR0O./MAP sensor range
code 2- Misfire detected

what do you advise?

the mechanic used scanners i assume are compatible. however, what do you advise?

ZIMDRILL: was the car scanned with a very compartible OBDII scanner? its very rare for an ECU to allow you to drive up 60kph when its self is faulty most of the time it would be the sensors

You will not believe how people claim public spaces and roads in Lagos. You can't even park your car along the road anymore because some shop owner or school have put some kind of obstacle there. Claiming a public road to himself.

It's only in Lagos that someone will block an entire street or road just to throw a personal party. There is too much impunity in Lagos. The residents are prolly pissed off with the school. You can tell from the strong wording of the sign.

i did something really crazy bout 2-3 weeks ago when travelling to abeokuta from lagos. drivin my 08 outlander, i was on my steady 140-150kph when the jeep in front of me moved to the side to allow me pass. Lo and behold it was one of those wide but smooth road bumps i saw, the ones specially made by FRSC. i tried to slam the brakes but was to no avail cos i was so close, ol boi next thin i simply sped over the bump and was literally in the air for a few seconds before the car landed. im sure the ppl with their cars slowly goin over the bump would never had seen a James Bond acted right before their eyes. and to my deepest satisfaction, the jeep landed with no hassles, and i simply drove off. i hail my ride. ever since then i called it "The Jump" im sure if it was a sedan, the front of the car would probably have landed hitting the ground.
