the error is simply because the UEQ is referring to your JAMB in your case as a Nigerian. Not your first degree.

Please I need help with this 'UEQ' thing. Their application website is somehow confusing. I read on Nairaland that 99 is the UEQ for Nigeria, tried it yet it gave me an error message.

The few guys I remembered that had admissions there had to change to the Environmental science program in Uni Trier or tried to at least. I personally know someone who successfully left the school. Housing is expensive and jobs are not easy to get either. It’s actually not so close to Koblenz, which is a much better city despite what the name suggests.

That’s not to say it’s impossible to survive over there, but it has its downside.

If you mean the Koblenz-Landau, Landau!!! Then avoid it if possible. If not possible, then expect to triple your hustle and learn enough german

1. Not everyone wanna do PhD, and from what I heard, after your PhD in Germany, you become overqualified for most job vacancies and you must get job that requires PhD before you get your blue card to work in Germany.
I heard that you cannot do PhD and get an Msc job (I don't know the authenticity of that information) , you must get PhD job with a particular salary scale or get back to Nigeria after post graduation grace.

2. Almost everyone wanna study a course that is in demand in Germany, but one's Bsc limits him on the course he can apply for Msc unless you wanna start afresh from Bsc.
Example, you can't have Bsc in Botany and then Msc in electrical and electronic engineering.
So your Msc is always in line with your Bsc and therefore you don't really have choice to select the best course for Msc if that course is not in line with your Bsc education

Of course!! I didn’t mean PhD is the only way out... Just that, sometimes there are doors that open even when we didn’t knock. It’s one possibility. About the rank of jobs you have to get with a PhD in hand, I’m not privy to this information so I can’t argue for or against it. All the same, choose carefully and pursue your career with passion.

It all depends on who you are and what you want. I have friends that studied Environmental science and are now doing their PhD in Germany and other EU countries. One got a job after an internship as well in Düsseldorf. Major key? Study whatever you choose really well and add as many employable skills as possible. Of course, learn as much Deutsch as possible. A course like Material science will no doubt have PhD tracks, or you might even be able to get an internship at a research institute along the line. One has to be careful when choosing a course to study in Germany though, cos it gets tough and you need interest and passion to get through at times.

Lol!! Funny guy. It's a bit difficult to give a comprehensive list cos I don't think there's even one. Aside the food stuffs which is general, peeps coming in winter need to get correct winter jacket/boots, hoodie, head warmer, in short anything that will sha keep you warm. But as many jeans as you can buy in Naija. It's not like it's not affordable here, but until you start earning quids here, I don't think it's advisable to be buying a jean for 30 euros or more.

Get a solid laptop if you don't have one or you have one with a old operating system ( you will most likely encounter the need for modern/updated apps for school work).

Bring your sense of responsibility!! Especially with finances and time management ( Freaking important ).

Food.......
................
Egusi, Garri, Crayfish, Dry fish, BEANS (lol), Ground pepper, Maggi/Sauces ( if you are a preference person ), and any other food items you like but nothing in liquid form.

I'm sure others can chip in whatever I didn't mention.

You can get it in Asian or Russian shops though. It's very cheap

Those of us who likes Ewa Oloyin will understand. It's not just about any beans. A stupid small portion of the said beans with plenty dirts and all is sold for 6,50 Euros in my city. I've seen other kind of beans for 2 Euros. But people that eat beans well will play safe and bring as much as you can. It will eventually finish lol!!! But at least, not as quick as mine.

I will sure inform the consulate but the other guy said they will collect and keep my passport after the interview and another guy said they won't keep my passport but will only request my passport for visa stamping after i succeed with my interview.


Please to those who got their Student visas, after the interview do the consulate keep your passport or they give it back to you? Please i need answers from people that have gotten their visas.

You definitely can't back out of the interview because of the passport, so just go ahead and attend your interview. I believe passports are only renewed from 6 months to its expiry, which means you have not done much wrong to still have that passport at the moment. After your interview, the embassy will not keep your passport for sure.

You will most likely have to get a fresh passport in Germany if all goes well ( hopefully it does ).

PS: I'm sure you will be wishing you had gotten a new passport before now, but don't dwell on it !! Just have a great interview and leave the rest to God!!

better go and get a new passport before your interview date. You need a passport that has at least two yrs validity for a student visa

At least 6 months validity will be fine. Not 2 years. I got mine with about a year left on my passport.

But yea, try and get a new passport asap!!

I'm studying in Trier, small city but has its own perks. Easy to get around and cost of living is quite affordable. As usual with every other city, the more German you can speak, the better it is job wise.

My interview was just the same as what most guys go through here. Know your course modules, understand your Bsc Project and be ready to discuss it, information regarding your intended city and Germany as a whole, most importantly--- be confident and enjoy the interview.

I funded with Form A. Get an invoice from your school showing a breakdown of the funds and it will be fine.

All in all, the system here works in a certain way and you have to conform to it so as to enjoy both studies and social life.

PS : One thing I will love to advise guys coming in soon is to try as much as possible to come with few cash!! Doesn't matter that you have money in blocked account because that money goes faster than you think and your first few weeks/months here will involve a lot of spending. Bring as much as you can with you and manage it well, so you don't start looking for a job immediately you arrive forgetting your studies comes first.

The sort of comments from some people on this thread is why Nigeria will remain static. The quality of education in Nigeria made sure that most people between the ages of 18-35, don't have an idea of what is really wrong. All they want to talk about is ethnic differences and the likes. Such a shame.
