Ok, I want to bring a matter here as well, there is a certain Aluminium guy here, I will save his name for now, he has done a lot of work for me, I mean in the millions! Roof - problems, executes, stories from start to finish. Windows- we are still at corrections after 2 years! Inferior materials. Bathroom doors - used inferior materials NOW BATHROOM CUBICLES - PLS HELP US SETTLE THIS BECAUSE I KNOW HE WILL READ THIS, WE AGREED IN DECEMBER FOR HIM TO BUILD 3 CUBICLES, IN DECEMBER 2021!! THEY WERE NOT FIXED UNTIL MARCH ! ONE STORY AFTER THE OTHER, HOW THE CHINESE FACTORY WAS CLOSED,,,,,, NOW, I HAVE PAID 400k OF THE 440K AGREED. YESTERDAY HE TEXTED THAT THEY FINISHED AND I NEED TO PAY THE BALANCE, I SAID ONLY AFTER MY INSPECTION. UPON INSPECTION, I SENT HIM PICTURES OF THINGS THAT NEED TO BE CORRECTED BEFORE ANY PAYMENT. AND HE IS INSISTING THAT I NEED TO PAY HIM, HIS WORKERS ARE FAMILY MEN, (I DON’T KNOW WHAT I MA!) HONESTLY, I HAVE GIVEN THIS GUY MORE CHANCES THAN HE DESERVES! I AM NOT PAYING A PENNY UNTIL ALL CORRECTIONS ARE COMPLETED!!
ARE MY WRONG? |

autonaero: I stay around Lakowe, Lagos and I'm aware of the price of sand at Lagasa Quarry in Ibeju-Lekki LGA. 20 tons currently costs #66,000 while their 15 tons is about #45,000 Nonetheless, for delivery, truck drivers charge are now getting high; considering the hike in diesel price and there are some other gate fees that they pay. You can budget about #120,000
I hope you found this helpful. I don’t understand what you are saying? Is a 20ton 66k delivered? Or are u saying 120? |

Building a duplex is very expensive, at least for me. I am only just a freelance book designer. I just want to encourage you, the race is not to the swift! start small, just be focused, you will see things moving and you will be motivated. You will be surprise also by just cutting little, little things out and putting the money into this, you will see progress. YOU CAN DO THE IMPOSSIBLE!! Your hands that started shall finish in Jesus Name!! |

EgunMogaji2: 1) Wasiu. He’s on here and was recommended by one of us. He did an excellent job but like I told him he needs to spend more time on taping stuff off and other prep work. I’ll use him again.
2) Frankly Gbadexy is the best source on that. I told him what I wanted, sent money and he delivered. The best delivery I’ve ever encountered since I arrived in Nigeria. He’s got his logistics situated and others ought to learn from him.
3) Oga mi, it’s just continuous and relentless cleaning after each trade. My POP guys will probably not want to work for me again because we dragged each other every day. Chean up before starting and clean up after. I don’t subscribe to the “we’ll clean up after we’re done” lie. So my partner and I just rolled up our sleeves and got busy. Hired one lady to clean but her idea of cleaning and ours were different.
My house is what we call a “ten footer” in the USA. Looks great from afar but on closeup you’ll see the usual Nigeria artisan screw ups (I’m actually in the middle of one right now).
All in all I’m happy. I’m continuing my steadfast pursuit of standard American workmanship and hence why I don’t have interior doors, kitchen and master wardrobe. I haven’t found someone that understands my idea and that is affordable. I know how much they sell H/MDF boards so where they’re getting N2M for kitchen cabinets befuddles me.
Thanks for the compliment. Like I fessed up to before the structure is too big for me because America happened to me on the way out when my now Ex Wife refused to come home with me. Please what is Wasiu’s number again, I need a quote from him at least, thanks bro, and great job! I dey come ibadan oo |

somehow: Gbam
Where I live on the mainland when there is somewhere you can never suspect I'd be.
The people around me don't even know when I'm around or not.
Sheath mode every day of the week.
I'm even having a double mind now with my current build and thinking of selling the current build while starting something "simple" somewhere else.
I chose the current environment due to its "hidden" nature.
When you're in Rome......
I didn't get a car for a very long time and when I did, got something "simple". When I changed it later, it was with another simple ride. Nothing fancy, not because of anything but for the country/time we live in. I quiet understand all that, but isn't it true that once we all retire and move back we want to relax and enjoy the fruit of our labor? I tell you, the 3 cities mentioned in the story Ikoyi, VI, Lekki, these are the better side of town! Not Ajegunle!!! No!!! Somebody said earlier, anything can happen anywhere, while I do not dispute that, the chances of it happening in some areas in the US is very slim! for example in my neighborhood in MD its middle class, you can leave your door open all night and for days nothing will happen, my neighbors have a key to my house and I have theirs, we watch out for each other. This I don't see happening in Nigeria anymore, and that was the case when I was growing up there! |

For me , some basics are non negotiable . Other suggestions are in order and on point
Point Well Taken!!! In Nigeria, you cannot enjoy your wealth because you are keeping a low profile!! |

BrickDevo: in as much as I try to portray a good image of the Country, i feel i have to be frank with you, the situation in Nigeria is in the hands of God, and when such statement is made it means it is beyond human control, so anything can happen, we surviving here never die, but we move cautiously, i can only recommend you do the same when you visit. No place like home though. Point well taken! |

EgunMogaji2: Regarding living quietly. Attached is my only vehicle, a well worn SUV with the required 4WD. While better than some but I’m surrounded by much bigger houses. Just examples of being situationally aware of my environment. It’s not foolproof. Nothing is. I keep telling you, we have so much in common my brother!! I have the same truck in Naija!! Crazy!!! |

true2home: The honest truth about moving is simply " Awareness" . I you plan to move to Nigeria or anywhere for that matter, be AWARE of the area!!! Someone lived his 45 years of live in Ketu Area without any incident. Arrival USA and got shot 6 times within 4 Months. Turn on you TV in any USA cities and you will fear for you life.
The issue that affect your ability to live anywhere is Self Awareness. If you are rich, live among the rich. If you like your OLD hood: be prepare to pay heavily the cost of being rich and living in the HOOD. Its like dangling a bag of corn and wondering why the chickens are after you.
My point is that we Nigerians afraid of our home country are often over reacting: yes i said it!!! There are concerns that are particular to any Third World Countries, which Nigeria is one of the, but keeping low profile and not showing-off will keep you save.
Lastly, any cities in Nigeria is equivalent to a GHETTO in US; don't be deceived by the big houses there. I prefer a Sub urban area of town to live as a returnee and doing it quietly too.
hmm.., Your last statement said it all! Off course there are bad cities everywhere! but again, your last statement!! By the Grace of God, I am not a flamboyant person anyway, thanks for the encouragement. |

EgunMogaji2: Life’s too short.
If you wish to live in Nigeria you can. Many of us moved back and successfully. Your keywords are Situational Awareness.
Good luck. agree! totally agree, but the story attached was totally random, going from house to house? In the last two months, I have heard more stories like this. I heard one story, the couple was being robbed six months after moving back, the neighbors heard their cry for help and no one did anything!! No one!!! and then they all came after the fact!!! By the Grace of God, we shall not be victims!! These days coupled with the insecurity in the country, kidnapping, banditry..... One just must wonder, is it worth it? The thing that makes most of us want to do this, is because of the love we have for our homeland, but love shouldn't be blind at all times. But thanks for the encouragement. |
