You welcome
A bit of info for the purchase of BTA. You might not get it immediately you request for it. The bank will have to bid on your behalf which might take 3-7days.In addition, some banks might give you a ^Not available^ answer bt inform them that you are not getting it right away but you want to request for a bid tender through them to CBN. You will only need your flight ticket, visa page and Int passport to present in the bank.

Hello are you certain they still do this BTA or PTA thing? I wanted to get dollars before i left Nigeria and i was told cbn cancelled it sort of....................

Haha. , ,Absolutely hilarious. I shared the experience of the @op
The kind of excitement that will course through your veins when you exit Lester Pearson airport is indescribable (particularly when it is your first time outside Nigeria.
I also didn't shower for two days when I got to Canuckland. I arrived just before the peak of winter. I (for the first time) experienced that 'white smoke-like thingy' you see come out from Brits when they talk in winter. grin

Don't play with those cabmen, they are not smiling, but I don't think they set out to deliberately overcharge. One almost gave my padi high blood pressure with his sofri-sofri manner of driving, yet the road was as wide and as empty as @#$%

Enjoy Canada o!
God bless your hustle
Hahahahahahahhahahaha my first week here he get one special way wey i dey take test how cold the weather is. I will go out and breathe out with my mouth. The intensity of white smoke determines the number of clothes i will wear underneath hahahahhaha. It was my supervisor that taught me how to read their weather hahahahahahhaaha. Amen and you too boss hahahahhahahahahahahhahah

House, just done my medicals, but I was told I had high BP, was asked to come back and collect report from a cardiolgist, I wanna know if this will affect issuance of my TRV, this kinda scares me now, I need clarifications, thanks .

When the doctor did my blood pressure during my medicals, I was scared because it was high too. He didn't know i was peeping so i asked after that slight question and answer session....you know all this do you smoke blah blah blah. I jokingly asked him if high blood pressure or what kinda disease or infection is capable of delaying applicants after medicals. He just said any disease that could make you a burden to their government. If i could remembered vividly well he mentioned hepatitis, staphylococcus and dia family members. So keep calm high blood pressure isn't one of them. The Cic wait self on its own is capable of increasing anybody's blood pressure. Just keep praying. Congrats!

Travel / My Funny Jjc Experience In Canada........ by Jengbetiele: 5:51am On Jul 07, 2015
I would have done this earlier but the workload here won’t permit. Anyways today I am free so I gat the whole time to share my experience being a newbie in a foreign land. Touching down at Toronto Pearson International Airport from Nigeria was a great life time experience for me, because it was my first flight, first time out of Nigeria. The journey took about 22 hours including a 4 hours transit at Frankfurt before we touched down in Canada.

I had one hotel reserved from Nigeria, so I got into the hotel shinning my 32 in excitement. All what was running through my mind was ‘as I don enter canny now, my people for Nigeria go take’. Little did I know that the smiling go soon turn frustration. The first challenge was opening the door to my room with that electronic card. I struggled with the door for awhile; I had to call the reception to the rescue. I got to my room and saw all gadget switched off. I didn't know I was meant to insert and swipe the card in an electronic slot on the wall in order put them on automatically. The temperature outside was below 3 degrees and I felt too big to go down the second time because of the trepidation of being labeled a ‘villager’. I had to wither that storm for hours till a Good Samaritan opposite my room came to bail me out.

After such a long journey, a typical human would want to have a shower na so I waka go bathroom sorry washroom lol say make I go bath o. I ran the shower but, the water be freezer water so I had to sleep like that without having my bath. Next day, I ran the tap, same cold water. To cut the long story short sha, I practically didn’t have my bath for two days till a German flat mate arrived and I stylishly asked for his help. I was so happy that I spent almost an hour in the washroom. I remembered the first two weeks, each time I wake up I go rush pick my cloths go iron thinking of nepa lol. Even till now, I still dey hold my phone charger around subconsciously.
The hotel offers free breakfast so I walked into the dining room the first day. They line up mixtures of leaves they called "food" were lined up. I actually taught maybe I mistakenly enter manger ni cos where I come from na goat dey chop raw leaf until I saw one oyinbo man saying good morning what would you like to eat?. As omo naija now I'm not familiar with any of the food so I picked something wey be like doughnut but he no sweet at all!!

I lost some pounds within these few days of arrival as I wasn’t eating well because their food no make sense for my mouth. Infact dem no get food self na snacks them dey call food for here. But when he remain small make hunger commot my eye balls, I ran to a nearby eatery and told the lady I want meat pie, she no sabi wetin meat pie be na so I check the list to see picture of wetin dey familiar. Then I told her chicken and chips she reply with excuse me what do you want?, I repeated myself severally I just look up and point number 9….she laughed hard and said it is fries and wings hehehehehe that’s what they call chicken and chips. I just asked for washroom na dia I take enter ghost mode.

I went to the reception and asked for directions to school from the hotel so I could proceed with registration ishhh. They suggested I use a cab since I be JJC. So I asked the cabman how much he pointed to the counter. As the journey progress my blood pressure kept rising because my full concentration was on the counter. At the same time, I had my fingers on converter and I was automatically converting and calculating the amount I will have to pay him in naira. All the waka wey we waka no pass distance wey I dey use jog for Nigeria yet I paid about 9,000 after conversion chai I con dey reason say how much be Lagos to Abuja self by road na?

Locating buildings in the school na another big milestone. I approached people with the expectations of go straight, turn right turn left naija things now o boiiii na map guys dey show me o….I was like wharris is this na hahahaha. After searching for an hour despite the map, I was able to locate where I was going. The thing be like ultimate search for my face. I remembered opening their doors here….hahahahahahahaha I had to watch people do that severally. There was hardly a time I got to my department without getting lost inside the building. There was a day I entered the building through the normal entrance and got out via underground tunnel hahahahahahha. Consequently, I became so thirsty and I wanted to get a drink from one of the refrigerators in the school. I approached a black guy asking where the sales girl go, he busted into laughter and help me operate the fridge.

My first time in their big bus ehn, I stylishly checked where people are placing their bus pass so entering was easier. The problem was alighting, I observed people were just silent unlike naija wey pple go just dey shout from the back seat Owa, Owa!. I almost called the driver to tell her that I'll be alighting at the next bus-stop then I discovered a wire at the right upper end of my seat, I don't even know what the wire stands for, maybe it's for emergency or anything. I just draw the thing ni no time. Sometimes I go enter wrong bus route hahahahha con dey google my location so I won’t lost. My first week here ehn I tried crossing the road like the normal naija style wey you fit cross anywhere. I didn’t know that zebra crossing is very effective here. I later learnt that all you need do even if there is no zebra crossing in sight is to move close to the traffic light and press the ‘magic’ button on the traffic light to stop the cars while you catwalk to the other side of the road.

Whenever I go to the mall, I always had my currency converter opened and active o. If I see say the tin I wan buy don too much, I drop am no time. Infact I bought wall socket for 5100 naira after conversion because my laptop mouth no enter dia socket I no fit drop that one cause he dey very essential. One last thing I remembered hahahahhaha I wanted to collect my supervisors bag like we do in Nigeria helping our lecturers carry their bags na so some of them wont mark our faces for ‘C’ or outright ‘F’ grade for being rude. The man was just looking at me and wondering what kind of rum I took or if I dey possessed hahaha. I can’t wait to see first timers do some of these things in fall.

Conclusively, it’s been exciting, and educative. I have meet friends like blood here whose counsel keeps me waxing stronger. It’s really an experience of a life time and I am grateful to Jah for giving me this chance. As many who want to experience this kain tin for the fun of it or for whatever reason, just trust God cos he makes things beautiful in his time……hehehehheeh between I am no longer a JJC though *tongue out*

I was just reading through and i saw....people arguing about the possibility of paying your fees and surviving without bringing enough money from Nigeria. Dearest brethren 90percent of Nigerians and Africans I have meet here are paying their fees themselves with no support from anywhere. I was so confused at first because the mentality I had from here was paying your fees or surviving without input from home(Tuition wise) all by yourself is next to impossible, well my experience here totally flawed all that. There is a way around it; as a matter of fact you wont have to get yourself involved in any form of illegality provided you can work hard....well you wont even need to be told by the time you see all your room mates taking up 2 to 3 jobs closing from one job to resume for another, and having so much in their account to maintain and comfortably pay their tuition, you self go blend quick quick. And as regards the 20 hours per week for international student.....(there is a way around this too) I dont want to share how when you enter you go understand. Its nothing illegal, all i can say about that is where there is a will there is a way.... I am not encouraging anyone to go against the law because rules are rules and they are meant to be obeyed and i will never go against any myself but the funniest thing is even if you go against the minimum hours rules here and you have reasonable explanations, you wont be bounced "reasonable explanations" I have meet uncountable numbers of international students majorly Africans that came to Canada with just few months house rent and they are doing very fine. You may be thinking it could affect their them from concentrating.....you see life is so flexible here.....very very flexible. To cut the long story short, it is very very very very possible infact over possible.

Team12 team12 team12!!! where is your tithe and offering na.......Congrats they couldn't have refused you with your academic prowess and professional exploits. You are a big woman here in your own rights......you know what I mean grin. From my observation, there are two classes of applicants....the excellent category and the average category. Believe you me the first category are always more favoured in getting visa of any country than the second category. The excellent category are the people who has above 75 percent in there undergraduate and/or have very valuable work experience. This is why i will always advise undergraduates that has plans to check out of naija in the nearest future to embrace their academics with all sense of diligence and try to finish with very good CGPA. Laziness finished most of us including myself. Canada does not want just immigrants, they want raw talents. Congrats kol1234. Darefestus dont worry, it is for a reason. Refire and work on that personal asset stuff. Canada need your talent and see you soon in SK..........hey haykinsbfx.................baba o grin grin grin grin go collect your trv joooooor grin grin "ashe o ti e le"

Well, one can't be a good programmer without knowing how to write good algorithms... You translate algorithms into code... So algorithms are the first step towards software development... Are you also doing Computer Science?

LOL this is serious, well then we'll see what we can do...yeah i agree with you they taught us musty theory here in Nigeria...but since i personally love programming computer and other mobile devices, i had to learn everything by myself...now i guess it's time to gain from all my hard work...
how about algorithm?

And about the programming stuffs, thank God i'm good at it smiley i program in almost all the latest programming languages...programming is my hobby, that's what i do for fun...and it fetch me alot of money...LOL grin

Really....congrats.....you are fit for the Job then...Programming is very lucrative here but its not for the faint hearted. I have meet peeps from African countries here that got in for computer science and had to run to other departments no thanks to the theoretical garbage they taught majority of us in Nigeria . Infact some had to start new UG in something entirely different from computer science and its acquaintances while some had to even leave because you mustnt fall below a B standing which is 75 percent out of 100 else you will be advised to withdraw hahahahahahhahaaha.

Congrats to the TRV choppers. More of that. Darefestus, you are next. My candid advice to anyone comming here to study anything computing even if its business computing or anything IT related........girdle your loins with alot of programming languages,if you still have the time, look for a software company and do volunteering jobs. learn practicals enough practicals.....dem computer science here no be beans o. Na serious business. If you see codes that first year ,second year students are writting here ehnnn.....It is not a playing matter I am serious....Learn as much as you can before comming so you won't be like romanus in class...Godbless
