You should use the right spice, at the right time, the right quantity, the right way and see what's left of the food.!
I can recall my dimrodic teacher telling me he could prepare a pot of soup without using spice(s) and yet it would taste better, who does he think he is?? |

Crime › NDLEA Arrests Businessman With 2.39kg Drugs by jericco1(op): 7:11am On Dec 01, 2013 |
NDLEA arrests businessman with 2.39kg drugsThe National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a Nigerian businessman for attempting to smuggle 2.390kg methamphetamine to South Africa.
The arrest was made at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, during screening of Arik Air passengers to South Africa. According to a statement sent toSUNDAY PUNCH, on Saturday, the suspect, Raphael Otti, 36, told investigators that he came to Nigeria for prayers of business breakthrough.
“I came to Nigeria for prayers of business breakthrough but was asked to bring a bag to South Africa by my sponsor. I sell phone accessories in South Africa but my business has suffered heavy setbacks.
“This was the reason I came home to seek spiritual solution. Unfortunately, I was caught with drugs on my way to South Africa” Otti said. NDLEA Commander at the Airport, Hamza Umar, said the drug was detected at the luggage checking desk.
According to Hamza, “the drug was concealed at both sides of the bag. It was a good mode of concealment but not good enough to escape our notice. We have commenced investigation, the suspect will be charged to court for unlawful exportation.”
The suspect, holds a diploma in Business Administration from the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, and hails from Anambra State. He had lived in Johannesburg for over 11 years.
Speaking of the arrest, the Chairman/Chief Executive of the Agency, Ahmadu Giade, said it has become more difficult for drug traffickers to smuggle drugs out of the country due to improved security checks.
“We shall prevent drug traffickers from using the country as a transit point for drug trafficking. Efforts are ongoing towards making our exit and entry points more impregnable to drug barons” he said. Source: http://www.punchng.com/news/ndlea-arrests-businessman-with-2-39kg-drugs/ |
Politics › Anambra Governership Election- Obiano Emerge Winner by jericco1(op): 6:55am On Dec 01, 2013 |
The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Willie Obiano, has been declared winner of the governorship election in Anambra State. The returning officer, Prof James Epoke said Obiano satisfied all the requirements of the law “and is hereby declared winner. ” The result showed APGA polled 180,178 votes, PDP polled 97,700 votes; APC got 95,963 votes, Obianowhile LP had 37495 votes. Before yesterday’s supplementary election conducted in 210 polling units in 16 local councils across the state where the exercise was cancelled during the November 16 exercise, Obiano was already coasting home to victory, having scored the highest number of votes and securing 25 per cent in 18 of the 21 local government areas of the state. The 16 local government areas where INEC conducted the supplementary election are Aguata, Awka North, Awka South, Anambra East, Anambra West, Ayamelum, Anaocha, Ekwusigo, Idemili North and Idemili South. Others are Ihiala, Nnewi South, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Orumba North and Oyi. Residents flout restriction order ADHOC Staff wait for voters during the Governorship supplimentary election at Chukwura Primary School II, Abatete in Idemili North LCA Though there was restriction of movement in the affected areas, some people were still doing their normal businesses and traffic was light on the roads in all the areas. Soldiers were stationed along all the roads leading to Idemili North local government area and Onitsha South local government area, which had the highest number of polling units of 160 and 17 respectively where the supplementary election took place. APC, LP agents take part Though the All Progressive Congress, APC, the Labour Party, LP, and the campaign organization of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Comrade Tony Nwoye, said they would not participate in the exercise, their agents were seen in many polling units. However, while APGA and PDP agents wore tags, those who claimed to be APC agents did not wear their tags. At Abatete in Idemili north, agents of the PDP and LP were at the polling units. Voters’ apathy In all the polling units where the supplementary polls took place yesterday, there was very low turnout of voters and heavy presence of security operatives. In most polling units visited by Sunday Vanguard, electoral officials and sensitive electoral materials arrived early. But, despite the early arrival of these materials, the number of eligible voters, who came out for the accreditation exercise, was very low compared to the turn-out during the November 16 and 17 elections. Early results At Zik Avenue, Onitsha polling units 8, 9 and 10, APGA scored 18 votes, APC – 8, while PDP polled 6. At polling unit 006, APC scored 9, APGA got 26, while PDP scored 2. REC commends Anambra voters, says there’s no boycott Despite the low turn out, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers, Mr. Aniedi Ikoiwak, who supervised the election in Onitsha South and Onitsha North council areas, commended the people of Anambra for coming out to vote yesterday’s supplementary governorship election. Ikoiwak spoke at Okija Hall where voting took place in four polling units. APC out to cause mischief – PDP chairman Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Anambra State, Prince Ken Emeakayi, has accused the APC of causing mischief and deceiving Nigerians. Emeakayi spoke with journalists at Akpkogwe polling booth Ogidi ward 1 where he had gone to observe the supplementary election. He said that despite APC’s call on voters to boycott the election, the party has agents in all the polling units. INEC ignores Ubah’s case Meanwhile, the supplementary poll held, yesterday, in apparent disregard of a case by the LP candidate in the November 16 election, Dr Ifeanyi Ubah, seeking to stop it. A letter by Ubah’s lawyers, Olagoke Fakunle, SAN, and Co, to INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, dated November 29, 2013, notified INEC about the case. source: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/12/anambra-obiano-declared-winner-today/

Health › Man Crushed By A Cow, Chased Out Of Hospital, Bedridden For 10 Yrs Still Alive by jericco1(op): 2:33am On Nov 30, 2013 |
An escaped but wild cow changed the destiny of Daniel Emori, 31, when it knocked him down leaving him with permanent disability. Like a bonnet of a fast moving car, the animal came full at him with its bawling sound throwing him on his back on the concrete track; and by the time the cow finished and strayed away, Emori became immovable.
The unlucky young man, a native of Adadama community in Abi Local Government Area in Cross River State who had just started a job as a delivery van driver in one pharmaceutical company was rushed to the hospital but was later turned back for his inability to pay the required hospital emergency fee.
Ten years after, Emori is not only atrophied, his condition is getting worse as he has since not been able to access medical attention as a result of poverty. “It was after my SSCE in year 2000
I traveled to Onitsha, Anambra State in search of greener pasture. I was employed in Peter E. Venture Plastic Company as a Machine Operator where I worked for two years and went for a 6-month driving training at Fegge Driving Trainning Field. After the training, I was employed by Ricol Pharmaceutical Company as a Delivery Van Driver. That fateful day which was 10th of October 2003, as I went to work that morning, our manager called me and told me that a customer had just paid for a large quantity of goods, that we should load and go straight to deliver the goods before going any other place.”
“So, on getting there, we did not meet the said customer and it was on our way back after we waited for more than three hours that a close-by customer pleaded that we deliver the goods to her instead of taking the goods back. I parked out of the road and jumped down from the vehicle but unfortunately I was immediately knocked down by a stray cow which came from God knows where.”
“I became paralyzed till date. I was rushed to a nearby clinic and the next day being Saturday, I was later referred to University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Enugu, where cervical (neck) injury was detected after some series of medical test (scan and x-ray). But after all efforts at providing the hospital emergency fee of N75,000 before any treatment failed, I was rejected and sent back home.”
“Since then I have been critically lying at home helpless and disable with part of my joints now stiff due to constant lying down on my sick-bed. I can’t sit, I can’t work and I can’t access medical attention. I have written to both my local and state government but all to no avail. That is why I decided to use this medium to seek support from Nigerians.” On his parents, Emori said he lost his father a few years after the incidence as a result of the overwheming health condition.
“My health condition contributed to my father’s death in June 2009.” My mother who is an ordinary village farmer cannot afford the money for my drugs let alone paying my hospital bills. My siblings who could have assisted are not working.”
Emori who was not very coherent while speaking with Saturday Vanguard pleaded: “please sir, try include my contact details for people who may wish to assist me.” source: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/11/crushed-cow-chased-hospital-bedridden-10-yrs/

Politics › Jonathan Returns, Thanks Nigerians by jericco1(op): 8:29am On Nov 25, 2013 |
ABUJA – President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, returned to the country and thanked Nigerians for the show of love extended to him while he was indisposed in London. He also confirmed that he will have a meeting with the group of seven governors who are estranged from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, this week despite the seeming escalation of the crisis between the governors and the party. The governors on their part were meeting last night to perfect their positions preparatory to meeting the President. Speaking with reporters shortly after he arrived at the Presidential Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, from London, President Jonathan also confirmed that he had received the report of the committee he set up to investigate the purchase of armoured vehicles by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, allegedly for the Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah. The President, however, did not say whether government has taken action on the report of the committee. The President, had on October 23, instituted a three-man administrative panel of inquiry to probe the procure-ment of two bullet-proof cars for the Aviation Minister.
The three-man panel, which was chaired by the immediate former Head of Service of the Federation, Isa Sali Bello, also has the National Security Adviser, NSA, Sambo Dakusi and another defence intelligence expert, Dick Iruenebere, as members. The panel was mandated to investigate the minister’s role in the procurement process and determine whether the process complied with due process. He told journalists: “I had health challenges. I thank God and I thank Nigerians for the concern they showed. I appreciate the show of love and concern by Nigerians.
“On Wednesday, even though I was in London, I read how people congratulated me, remem-bering my birthday that I don’t normally celebrate anyway. “I really had some health challenges and I have to thank God again that I am very okay to resume work from this night (yesterday). “The most important thing is that I am back. You will expect that when you are holding a political office as the president of a country, anything that affects you attracts a lot of attention. “If the President is sick, this alone will definitely cause apprehension even if you don’t know the ailment.”
On meeting with G-7 govs The President said: “I believe within the week we will be able to meet. Politics is about discussion. We belong to the same political party. “Even people from different political parties engaged in political discussion and political discussion is a continuous process. “Even during elections people discuss. So we will continue to discuss.” source: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/11/jonathan-returns-thanks-nigerians/ |

Politics › I'll Name The 400 Northern Traitors __threatens Aliyu by jericco1(op): 12:38pm On Nov 24, 2013 |
[quote]THE Governor of Niger State and Chairman of the Northern States Governors Forum, Babangida Aliyu, on Saturday said over 400 northerners betrayed the North after collecting money from mercenaries. He promised to publish the list soon. Aliyu who made this disclosure while making tribute to the late Emir of Minna Alhaji Ahmadu Bahago at the 25th anniversary of the Emir of Minna Alhaji Umaru Faruk Bahago said the North was not afraid of 2015 general elections. He said, “We hear rumours of some people who say they have the list of four hundred northerners that they are going to settle, and they are sure if they settle the 400, everything will be okay. We are looking for that list so that we will tell the people that these are the people that want to betray you. This sense of betrayal on the northerners has festered into a groundswell of mistrust. “I must advise all of us to be conversant with the happenings in our country, we must be cautious that through the ballot papers we can always determine who becomes our leader in Nigeria, by God’s grace plenty good things will happen in 2015. Whoever God brings we will follow. Do not be afraid, let there be 200 candidates, God will allow only one candidate emerge.’’ Aliyu while condemning the outcome of the Anambra governorship election said. “With what happened in Anambra State, we don’t pray it repeats itself in 2015 general election because that could cause a problem for all of us as a nation. We must all put our hands on deck to ensure the people understand the right.” He added, “INEC and others must understand that election is not about money. If politics is about number, then the northern states should not complain, because whatever touches one, touches all us. “We must therefore, not be afraid of 2015; Allah shall do well for Nigeria. However, our major concern should be focused on our electoral laws and the performance of the Independent Electoral Commissioner, especially with what happened in Anambra State.”[quote] http://www.punchng.com/news/aliyu-threatens-to-name-400-northern-traitors/
