mekaprime: At the bolded, didn't say that. Trust me here, if the sequel of the movie comes out, there's no way its going to meet up with the standard set by the first movie. And when you say the hero didn't have a good ending, what other good ending is more befitting than the one we got? .. Firstly, what was our heroes goal?? The goal all along was getting her & the kids to a safe Haven & not stopping the crazies or pandemic. Did she achieve her goal?? Yes she did, to me, that's a befitting ending. Talking about killing the monsters, how can you kill something you can't see, for all we may not know, it may be a bio weapon. It is like you are not well versed with apocalyptic horror movies. Take for instance, in zombie movies, some of them get to the safe haven at the end. However, the sequel shows that the safe haven is overrun with zombies. That being said, the hero ended up being safe in a house of blind people. How safe is that? One of the crazies is enough to kill all the blind people. So, the hero getting to the safe haven is meaningless if the writers want a story to have a sequel. Your argument that the monsters cannot be killed because one cannot see them is flimsy because we might find out that children are immune to the monsters. |

Clubmaster: How can someone sit down to watch Bird box then say that the concept is about parenthood. Is there another birdbox I don't know? That is one of the secondary themes in the movie. |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by JeromeBlack: 10:36pm On Sep 26, 2019 |
mekaprime: Well I think it shouldn't have one. This is because, at the end of the movie, closure is given to Malorie, as it is clearly seen that she finally embraced her role as a mother and the parental guardian of those 2 kids. Also she ends up in a safe Haven with the kids which IMO, is a big win. The flick wasn't really about the monsters per say, the mysterious monsters in the movie connotes a dipper meaning, thus, you've to see beyond the surface meaning/concept. Bird Box main concept was about parenthood and how raising kids can mean preparing them to live in a world full of harm's way that even their parents don't really understand, thus attempting to explain the mysterious beings would risk muddling the simple, but effective idea behind the story. Every good horror movie has a deeper meaning that goes beyond the terror itself. The justification for a sequel does not lie in the deeper meaning. I believe the justification for a horror movie is twofold 1. The evil spirit, monster, corporation, virus, system, person did not die 2. The protagonist or hero or main character did not have a .clear or good ending Closure. Bird Box fits both rules. First, the monsters were never explained and were never killed. Secondly, the main haracter did not truly get closure. The monsters are still out there and nothing stops them from sending the crazies to kill those who dont open their eyes (the blind guys) Also, it is your personal interpretation that the monsters were purely psychological. I fell that is 100 percent wrong. Not only were they drawn on paper, they had physical effects on people and also, they had crazies working for them. |

mekaprime: Seriously i feel this part 2 is uncalled for, they're just gonna mess it up. one thing for sure is that the story is going to be predictable. Movies like A Quite place, Bird Box, The Happening , ought not have sequels. Border box should have a sequel. The mysterious beings have not been explained. It took 4 Alien movies before the xenomorphs were explained |

I have been watching The shape of water since Monday...... well, don't blame me, it ain't my fault the movie ain't interesting.
Is that not bestiality they are promoting? Yes and No. At surface level, it is bestiality But 1. sleeping with a vampire is bestiality. 2. A lot of relationships in Carnival Row could be seen as bestiality 3. It raises the question, how can it be bestiality when it is not real. Animals exist but do vampires, pucks and fish men exist? 4. It also raises the question, should we consider higher lifeforms to be animals? We dont see vampires as animals (twilight, interview with a vampire). Would sex with an alien species that could reason like us be bestiality? After all, bestiality is sex between man and animal. If you dont consider higher lifeforms to be animals, is it really bestiality?

It's not as bad as people have rated it, but it is confusing AF. Jean Gray has been given more power than I remember her ever having from the previous movies so what happened?? Did she lose them along the way?? There are just too many eyebrow raising changes and I am not convinced.
Entertaining, but just too... I don't know which adjective to use to qualify the direction the franchise is going.

abdurrazaq: It is not always an easy task to discuss GOD with an unbeliever in GOD hence, the reason why some (like me stay away from such conversations).
One undeniable fact is that every culture and religion believe in the existence of ONE GOD, the links to the Supreme GOD has always been the difference. In Yoruba Land, the Supreme GOD is referred to as ỌLỌHUN or OLÓDÙMARÈ while other deities like Sango, Ogun, Obatala, Orunmila, etc., are considered as links to HIM by different traditional worshippers.
The only GOD is called various names depending on the language (Bhagwan, Allah, Yahweh, Jehova, Ọlọhun, Ubangiji, Chukwu, etc.). He is the Supreme while every other deities like Sango, Krishna, Amadioha, Ogun, etc. are mere subjects with some supernatural powers and are considered as others as close links to get their wishes from the One GOD. Therefore, an Indian man that worship cow knows the existence of the true GOD but cannot think of or did not inherit a better way of worshipping HIM other than worshipping him through the cow.
As for rules and regulations attributed to GOD in various 'Holy' Books, the followers of the concerned religions will only interpret them to the best of their understanding. There is always the possibility that those verses are misinterpreted deliberately or otherwise. Let's cut through the ceremony. The simple reason why you shy away from discussions with non religious disbelievers is that you know that they will ridicule your beliefs because it is like nonsense to them. Religious people hate/fear ridicule of their religion. |

Abdulgaffar22: This is not the issue of the gaps in scientific knowledge being used as evidence for God. It is a matter of logical comparison ; if physical law of nature or process of chance can never be used to explain the existence of a plumbing system installed in a building, then physical law of nature or process of chance can never also be used to explain the existence of a plumbing system installed in a body of human being. A human being is organic. Very different from an inorganic building |
