Mr. Man, what is your point?

Jesus dying on the cross and been raised up for our justification. And the sealing of our spirits by the Holy Spirit.

every believer has the Holy spirit but not every is filled with the Spirit.
Being filled with spirit is a continous act.

Read Eph5:18-19:-
Being filled with the Spirit is to Put the things of the spirit to use.
Firstly, tongues go only to God ,the interpretation is for man.
Either you speak in your church.on the pulpit,in your house,in your workplace.
The tongues goes to God.

1cor14:2He who speaks in tongues speaks not unto men but unto God for no man understands him, howbeit in the Spirit he speaks mysteries.

Anywhere you speak in tongues.you speak to God,then you give the interpretation to people(the church) not GOD.
True. I agree with you.

Rom 10:9: "that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;"

Rom 10:13 for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED."

Believing in your heart that Jesus is Lord and confessing it with your mouth.

Go read your Bible sir,you are baptized with the Holy Spirit at Salvation. You can prove me otherwise with the scripture
There is a difference between receiving the Spirit at salvation and being baptized with the Spirit after salvation(for power to witness).

John 20:22 "So Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you." 22And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit."

Here the disciples were what you call born again.

But later on:

Acts 1:4 "Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, "Which," He said, "you heard of from Me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now."

also:
Luke 24:49 "You are witnesses of these things. "And behold, I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high."

later on:

Acts 2:4 "And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues,..." Not some but all.

Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning! No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:

17“ ‘In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people....

"Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

So what do we see Peter told them here. First repent and be baptised in the Name for forgiveness of sins and..

then (a key word).

you will receive the gift... Well, what gift?

What the people saw in the disciples of Jesus that made them think they were drunk.

Now listen to this:

Acts 19:3 It happened that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the upper country and came to Ephesus, and found some disciples. He said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" And they said to him, "No, we have not even heard whether there is a Holy Spirit." And he said, "Into what then were you baptized?" And they said, "Into John's baptism."…

"Paul said, "John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus." When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking with tongues and prophesying.…

After they became born again Paul laid hands on them and they received the Spirit and Spoke with tongues. After being born again. All of them, not some of them.

Also:
Acts 8: When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to Samaria. When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit, because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.. Now when Simon saw that the Spirit was bestowed through the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money, saying, "Give this authority to me as well, so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit."

Well, do you lay hands on people to get born again? and what was the tangible thing that the Sorcerer saw happen that made him want to buy the gift? And we also see they had already been born again before hands were laid on them for the baptism of the Spirit.

Finally:

John 7:39 "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.'" But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

When was He glorified? after He ascended into heaven and as a result the disciples received the gift.

The scriptures abound. All we need to do is stop listening to man made doctrines.

How do u understand those words " one flesh"? Do u think it means same in age, authority and power?

I understand the " in me" Jesus said to mean unity/agreement but not meaning eauality. Is that ur view?
Yes Oneness means Unity but not equality of authority. Examples in scriptures.

Col 1:19 "You heard that I said to you, 'I go away, and I will come to you.' If you loved Me, you would have rejoiced because I go to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. "

1 Cor 11:3 "But I want you to understand that Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of a woman, and God is the head of Christ."

You agree the Husband and wife are one. True. But that does not displace the rule of authority. As the man is the head of the woman. And Christ is one with the Church but also the head of the Church and the Father one with Christ but the head of Christ.

Where did Paul describe 'being one' as a mystery?
Eph 5:32 "AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH. This mystery is great;"

U might be right, but its good to know where Jesus said such about "being one".

The bible at John 17:3 shows that understanding/knowing God is needed for salvation. I think the bible helps us to understand God. Don't u think so?
The Word know there is not talking about understanding all the complexities if God, it is impossible. God is an eternal being.

The word know means an intimate relationship. How do I know?

Orginal greek: Know=ginwvskw=Ginosko. Which means Intimacy or to be aware. Jewish idiom for sexual intercourse between a man and a woman.
And you know unbelievers don't believe in God because they are not aware of God.

I don't think the almighty is a mystery. Remember you can rightly be asked " if u consider Him a mystery, how then do u know He is a triune God?" If u consider him mystery, its then wrong for u to dogmatically take triune position.

Notice that it was God's pleasure that a certain fullness dwell in Christ. This fullness could have been inherent if he was God by nature. What do u think?
1. We obviously cannot know all of God so there are certain mysteries to Him which we now in our human form now can never grasp.
2. All that is revealed in the Bible is all God wants us to know for now.

Remember Rev 19:12 "His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself."

This shows how limited we are in the knowledge of God. But does not stop us in intimacy with Him.

Always stick to the Word. Don't let your experiences with Pastors make you stray.

Yea there are Pastors these days that do all sort of finny things.

1. You have to go to a bible believing Spirit filled church not just anyone down the road these days that will take one part of the bible and leave out the rest. And just twist the scripture any how they like.

2. The truth is, all this things are by faith. You don't even need a pastor to lay hands on you, the Holy Spirit is everywhere and more near you than you think. You can get it on tour own in your room.

I got it on my own with my friend praying for me. I can recount my own experience if you're interested and if it could help.

CaptainJune:
I really dislike it when Pastors or spiritual leaders 'pressure' their members to speak in tongues. It is not forced. Such practice unscriptural. The Spirit of God has to initiate it otherwise you are speaking gibberish.

Many have testified to receiving the gift of tongues where the first time when they spoke the heavenly language, they mustered all their energy to stop its flow, not really understanding why they were speaking it, but this proved abortive because the language kept flowing independent of their will. Some even go as far as shutting their mouths only to discover their efforts are

If it doesn't come naturally through supernatural means, if you don't speak it as words flow from your lips of their own accord, then don't force it. If you do, then you may be speaking anything but tongues.
True I agree with you with the pastors forcing it issue.

But the Spirit of God does not initiate it, you have to start by faith. (That is when you've already received it tho).

I remember my own experience that is why I say this.

The question you need to ask yourself is, have you received what is called the baptism of the Spirit, if you've have not, then why don't you try it and see you will speak in tongues or not?.

BTW, there is a difference btw the ministry gift of tongues which comes with interpretation for edification of the church and the prayer language tongues, which is spoken to God alone.

Need you guys to help me understand this because I was in a church some weeks past where the pastor said ''its speaking in tongue time''. We must all speak in tongue. I looked at myself and wondered what they meant by that. while they were speaking in tongue, I was reading 1 Corinthians 14 vs 2 to 5.

2. For he (not ALL but he) that speak in an unknown tongue speak not unto men, but unto God: for no man understand him; howbeit in the spirit he speak mysteries.

3. But he that prophesieth speak unto men to edification, and exhortation, and and comfort.

4. He that speak in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; buthe that prophesieth edifieth the church.

5. I would that you all spake with tongues, but rather that you prophesieth: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may recieve edifying.

Just help me shield more light to this bible version.....thank you!
Madam! There is a difference between the gift of speaking in toungues and interpretation of toungues for ministering to others and the toungues for praying to God privately which is gotten form the baptism of the Holy Spirit?

Not all have the toungues gift for the ministry but all are expected to have the private toungues prayer language.

I have seen where ppl used the tongues for ministry to minster to someone in their own dialect and the person speaking never at anytime learnt that dialect. It happens as the Spirit wills. No one can just make it function. That was why that same scripture says the gift is a sign to unbelievers.
Christianity Etc › Re: God Was WITH God by Jeromejnr(m): 12:36pm On Aug 25, 2015
Now, this is to help those that cannot answer the OP's silly question.

I am sure you all agree that Christ is one with the church (the body of Christ). So lets look at scriptures.

Eph 5 "....because we are members of His body.FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND SHALL BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH. This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.

John 14:20 "After a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also. "In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.

John 17:23 "The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. "Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.…"

Lk 22:42 "saying, "Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.""

What can we learn from these:

1. Apostle Paul himself said the concept of different people being one was a great mystery. So how in God's name are you supposed to use your tiny peanut brain to understand the oneness of the God head.

2. In the second scripture,Jesus Himself tells His disciples that in that day, they will come to understand or fully know how He is one with the Father and He is one with the church. So why do you right now try to meddle in things you can't understand for crying out loud.

3. If Jesus is the Father, then looking at the last two scriptures I gave, you mean to tell me He was praying to Himself in the Garden, or He he had two wills He struggled with or He forsook Himself on the cross (when He cried out), or the voice that came from heaven and said "this is my beloved Son..." was Him talking to Himself? This doesn't even need a lot of schooling.

So we see that Just as the Husband and wife who are two different people are one and Christ and the Church are One, so also God the Father and Son who are two different people are One.

It's pointless trying to understand a great mystery as scripture says.

So no, we don't serve multiple God's but one God. Just as this scripture says

Col 1:19 "...He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything. For it was the Father's good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him(Christ), and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.…"

So if we worship the Father, we worship the Son also, If we worship the Son, then we worship the Father also. Since all the Fullness of God is in Christ.

Do yourself a favor and leave the mystery alone.
Christianity Etc › Re: Can Mary Hear Our Prayers? by Jeromejnr(m): 11:56am On Aug 25, 2015
btoks:
Very intriguing. So what gives you the guarantee that the Catholic Church got the canonisation of the bible right if they can be wrong on faith & morals? As you believe in Sola Scriptura, this is very important.

You state 'strange doctrines',how do you think the pharisees and some others felt when they heard Jesus' teachings? Why was he crucified? Because something is strange doesn't automatically make it wrong. E.g. Jesus was born by a Virgin- this we believe in but don't you think others find this strange?
Jesus rose from the dead- I'm sure you believe this but could some people find this strange?
One wonders how you guarantee what you believe?
Very good question. (Now someone is making sense).

But then what guarantees you the fact that you are saved? How do you know? if someone where to ask you that what will you say?

You would go back to the scriptures (the dead sea scrolls) and show them where and how you accept it by faith. (Note: I am not just talking about the 66 books of the bible now but also the Apocryphals). And also the inner witness of the Spirit.

But supposing someone asks you were it is said we can pray to Mary and she can hear our prayers and answer them , where will you turn to? (Because none of that was contained in the dead sea scrolls).

But where did the concept of praying to Mary come from or that she can answer our prayers or that she is now Omniscient and able like God to hands a million requests all coming at the same time? Or even praying to angels?

They came from someone in the second Vatican council. Who just said, well since Mary is the mother of God, we can as well pray to her.

But where is the proof of that in the scripture or apocryphal or the disciples of the apostles writings?. Where do we get the concept that she is now Omniscient?

Remember anything Jesus said, He always referred to and stuck to the scriptures (old testament writings).

Not everything Catholics do is wrong. In fact there is no perfect church. But what we talking about is the concept of praying to Mary.

Christianity Etc › Steps On How To End A Relationship. by Jeromejnr(op): 10:00am On Aug 25, 2015
Step #1: WHEN TO DO IT

Ideally
You want to have the break-up conversation when there’s plenty of time to talk in private, faceto-face, with few distractions.

There’s never a good time
Even if he’s in a great mood, or she’s had a bad day at work, don’t make excuses. Decide to do it, and do it.

An exception
If your partner is going through something traumatic, such as a health scare or the death of a loved one, the more humane thing to do is postpone the breakup until that difficult period is over.

Step #2: WHERE TO DO IT

In private
During dinner (their house may be best because then you can leave). Or have the talk while taking a walk or doing something outside in nice weather, as it’s healthy to physically move when you’re digesting emotional news.

In public
Only if you fear for your safety.

Step #3: WHAT TO SAY

Don’t
Announce beforehand that “We need to talk.”

Do
Broach the subject only when you’re ready to start talking. Try: “I’ve been struggling with something for a while, and I’d like to come out with it…” Be honest about your reasons, but don’t point fingers or declare what you don’t like about your partner. Rather, say, “This is what I’ve discovered over time is missing.” The point is that it’s just a mismatch.

Avoid
Infuriating clichés, such as “It’s not you, it’s me” or “This is hurting me as much as it’s hurting you.”

Step #4: REACTING TO THE REACTION

Be resolute
Don’t backpedal and suggest you maybe can work it out, which just prolongs the inevitable.

Say you’re sorry
Sit with your partner’s tears and apologize for causing pain. If your partner gets mean and starts hurling insults, don’t fight back. Just say, “I’m sorry, I know it hurts.” And then listen.

Step #5: POST-BREAKUP ETIQUETTE
Generally, it’s best to cut off all contact, but you may continue to talk if your partner was shocked by the break up and needs more questions answered in order to process the situation. Follow their lead, and don’t initiate contact — especially if you’re second-guessing your decision — it will only cause confusion.

Definitely NOT
No post-breakup sex, and don’t try to be friends right away. It sends mixed signals and the dumpee may think there’s a chance to get you back.

Romance › 10 Reasons Why This Generation Is Losing The Ability To Be In Love. by Jeromejnr(op): 10:58pm On Aug 24, 2015
1. We care more about instant gratification than we do anything else.

The most common trend amongst Generation-Yers is our need for instant gratification. We grew up and continue to thrive in a culture that allows us instant access to just about anything.

If we want food, we have it delivered with the click of a few buttons or we walk a block or two and grab dinner. If we are bored, we have endless distractions in the form of phone apps. If we need directions or a question answered, it only takes us a couple of seconds.

Such convenience is entirely a modern-day perk — previous generations never experienced anything even remotely close to it.

The problem is instant gratification is addicting and often becomes a habit, a habit that tends to seep into our love lives.

Love isn’t meant to be experienced in an instance, but in a lifetime.

2. We’ve built a culture driven by drugs and booze.

This goes hand in hand with our culture’s need for instant gratification. Drugs and booze are the most common form of self-medication.

When we feel sad or unhappy, we go out for drinks. When we’re stressed or unable to handle our lives, we may turn to more intense substances. Of course, not everyone drinks alcohol and/or does drugs, but it is a trend among our generation.

Drugs and alcohol often end up being love’s worst enemy. These substances give us the illusion of an alternate reality — a reality in which our emotions are heightened, and the love we experience becomes exponentially intense.

Unfortunately, all this does is confuse us, making us believe love is little more than the feelings we experience. Nothing could be further from the truth.

3. We sleep around — a lot.

Some less than others, but most individuals have multiple partners every year. Don’t get me wrong, I like sex just as much as the next guy, but sleeping around ends up leaving us feeling empty.

It starts out feeling exciting and gratifying, but ends up making us feel even more alone. Worse yet, it makes finding someone to love infinitely more difficult. You’re wasting your time with people who mean nothing to you and, to top it all off, you are likely to turn sex into a sport.

When that becomes the case, good luck trying to make love. Good luck enjoying sex when sex is no longer a special or unique experience, but just another trivial evening.

4. We’re becoming even more egocentric.

Every individual in the world is egocentric; we all think about our needs and ourselves first and foremost. Whether this is good or bad doesn’t really matter; the world is the way it is. It’s part of human nature.

The problem arises when our egocentricity overtakes our ability to feel empathy. As human beings, we have no choice but to live and function within society, within communities of different sizes.

Relationships are really nothing more than granular communities. When we focus on only ourselves, our needs, our wants and desires, the needs of the others in our community get overlooked. When this happens in a relationship, it all begins to fall apart.

5. We date for the sake of dating.

It’s become a sport — a favorite pastime among Millennials. We date because we believe we’re supposed to date. We’re supposed to find someone to fall in love with and spend our lives with, and we are under the impression that the best way to go about it is to date as often as possible.

This backwards logic brings about countless horrible relationships that never ought to have been in the first place. Every time you date someone who isn’t right for you, you’re giving up your chance to meet someone who is. Same goes for the rest of the world.

6. We aren’t fans of making compromises.

We like to have things our way, always. Why wouldn’t we? If we can have it our way, why would we settle for anything less?

This logic makes sense until we find ourselves in a relationship. When we’re a part of a relationship, we are only a piece of a greater whole. What we want and need is not nearly as important as what the relationship needs.

And what the relationship often needs is for you to compromise. So you’re left with a dilemma, which is fine, as long as you accept that compromises need to be made. Once we no longer accept that as a necessity, we will lose the ability to create a loving relationship.

7. We believe in fairytale endings.

What was our favorite thing to watch growing up? Most people our age will say Disney. We grew up on Disney movies and learned all about love through the stories they told — or at least I did.

The problem is such movies are incredibly inaccurate and often end up doing more harm than good. They create impossible expectations — expectations that always leave us disappointed in the end, not to mention confused.

How could you not question your love for someone when your story doesn’t line up with what you believe defines a happily ever after?

8. We’ve been fooled into believing perfection is attainable.

It’s not. Never has been, never will be, and yet, we are all looking for that perfect individual. We are all looking to become that perfect individual. Sadly, we’re all going to fail, and it’s going to suck.

No matter how unrealistic our expectations are, the disappointment we feel when they aren’t achieved is very real.

The grass always seems greener on the other side. But who the hell told you to look for greener grass?

9. We’re goal driven, but often forget to include our partners in the mix.

I love the fact that our generation is really the first generation to put the focus on the individual, allowing for personal growth and development. I’m proud our generation is the first generation that believes working for ourselves is better than working for someone else.

Having dreams and setting goals are both incredibly important; however, what’s more important is setting the right goals. We need to understand the difference between the things and individuals in our life who hold value and those that do not.

Sadly, this is an area in which our generation is greatly lacking. Most of us put off finding someone to love until after we get the rest of our life together. Not sure why no one realizes finding a partner is the most important piece of the puzzle.

10. Most of us are really bad at loving.

Love is confusing. It has layers and is mutable, changing over time and changing with each new partner we let into our lives. Love is so incredibly complex that most people simply haven’t been able to get a grasp of it.

It’s nothing to be ashamed of, but it is reason to worry. The real question is: Are we getting better or worse at loving? That’s a question I’m not able to answer, but I fear it maybe the latter.

Of course, each individual is different in his or her understanding, but most people seem to be incredibly lost. The issue is if we don’t come to understand love better — its purpose, its boundaries and its shortcomings — we will never be happy.

That’s nothing short of fact.

Hey! your dat ignorant guy. Where you disappear go?.

as to your stupi.d question:

Is 1:20 :"but if you resist and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword." For the mouth of the LORD has spoken."

Or His mouth does not have a tongue again abi?.

Ps 94:9 "Does he who fashioned the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see?"

So we see He has eyes, ears and a mouth. But according to you, He doesn't have a tongue abi?.

My guy go sleep. It's night.

Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible

He is not the God of the dead,.... This is our Lord's reasoning upon the passage; showing from hence, that since God is the God of these persons, they must be now alive in their souls, for God is not the God of the dead.......

.....ye therefore do greatly err; signifying, that it was not a slight mistake, an error of small importance, but a very great one; inasmuch as it was contrary to the Scriptures, and derogated from the power of God, and destroyed that covenant interest, which God has in his people......

Yeaa...I think he has goofed too. He seems to have a knack for bringing in very unrelated events into an argument thereby complicating wat could have been a simple, straight4wrd issue I.e talking about Saul and Samuel, even moses and Elijah wia I have mentioned even with biblical ref that those guys neva died and so should definetly no fit into this kind of argument especially given the event of Elijahs demise stated explicitly in the bible(caught up they a chariot of fire) and even the fact that there is no record of moses being buried. OK let us look at this again how would those DAT died before Jesus be judged with the same standard as we born after Him - given dat dia was no Christ den to believe in, and the blood of goats and animals wia only used to atone for sins, not blotted out (paper over cracks). Don't you think dat the standard of their judgement will be different? Also, talking about pple going into their bodies after it has been mutilated. Like seriously, we are dust for Christ sake and d bible says we would return to dust. Therefore, the soul has no part to play with the dead body. Come to think of it, how will souls of men be in either paradise or hell (according to you) then later dey will go for judgement. That is not biblical in any way.
Mind you, I am not a proponent of the soul-sleeping concept, however, among the several school of thought surrounding this understanding within the christendom, it seems the most plausible and biblical. I.e that man will only resurrect into eternal life and others following the white throne judgement into eternal damnation. Please think through this.
Both of you should think on this.

"In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife of the seven will she be? For they all had married her." But Jesus answered and said to them, "You are mistaken, not understanding the Scriptures nor the power of God. 30"For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.…But regarding the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God: 'I AM THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, AND THE GOD OF ISAAC, AND THE GOD OF JACOB '? He is not the God of the dead but of the living."…

Words from the master Himself.

Thank you.
