Christianity EtcRe: What Is Truly Offensive To Christians? by JeSoul(f): 9:43pm On Jun 02, 2013
Ihedinobi, gats to say, almost no one expends that much effort trying to see things from the mods perspective, and for that you're super dupa dude. Save for you and others here that i respect very much this would just be more water on the duck but lets pick this as the spot...

...Fascinating discussion smiley

I will continue to the best of my ability (which is not perfect) to hide, ban and remove all posts I consider offensive. This is naturally a subjective undertaking because we are all different and have different tolerance levels. So you will not always agree with me, but I ask you bring it to my attention and we can respectfully discuss and make any corrections . Some Christians have challenged me recently on my leaving of offensive materials so I have upped my game in response. I have made and will make mistakes and have no problem correcting them. This is how we get better as human beings. But I have no tolerance or audience for rants and personal attacks which is the next recourse of a few problem posters here. I mean is this how to solve a problem? Spam threads with insults & cuss the mods out? Is this how adults behave? Over what? The inability to post for a day or two on a private forum? Do you take this that seriously?

Furthermore, I think its a disservice to lump all 'atheists' into one bad category because most of them are good citizens and follow the rules as they post strongly against religion. Take stock, it is the same 1% of the hundreds of posters here causing 99% of the trouble. It is also worthy of note that the major 'complainants' of jesoul are also perennial troublemakers here and in other sections, some of whom have even earned the impressive site-wite ban from the admin for very bad behavior. I see the logs, so I know everyone's track record. I expect everyone to behave like adults and submit challenges respectfully when they feel a mod has made a mistake here or in any other section. Mods are humans, treat them how you want to be treated. I take effort to treat everyone fairly and give a long leash for error before I clamp down hard and take off the kid gloves. Some of you prefer koboko, so be it.

If some atheists feel my moderation is one sided, then that is what MMW is here for, to balance any inadequacies on my side, and there will be inadequacies, as a Christian I am not the best judge of what is offensive to atheists or Muslims. And I expect atheists to respect that they are likewise not the best judges of what is offensive to Christians. So if any threads are here that atheists consider offensive, take your case to MMW. Though I think he does a good job personally. You just cannot please everyone.

Also I could've easily saved a lot of discussion by simply reminding you all of the recent updates to NL rules...and the forum-wide push for civility during discourse.  As such threads that I would've left pre-rule update I would now censure. So Alexleo's post today would not survive under the new rules. Surely the expectation cannot be we retroactively go back and ban all posts that don't comply with the new tougher rules? So oga striktlymi, I would address that complaint differently today. And yes, some troublemakers are on my radar more than others and we will miss threads from time to time and I expect you guys to bring it to our attention.

Furthermore on the Frosbel issue. Hmm...I guess none of you are aware that I actually banned him some months back specifically for his attacks on catholics? And of course he said he was being persecuted when someone asked about his absence. Again, you cannot please everybody.

Finally, if y'all want more hiding and banning that can certainly be arranged. But I know the next complaint would be cries of censorship from the same people so you see yet again you cannot please some people no matter what you do. In any case there should be some changes around here soon. But I'm sure not everyone will be pleased as usual. No wahala, life goes on smiley

Cheers people.

Roland17: Honestly, i must congratulate the Pacers for holding on this far, a very young and inexperienced team save for David west, these guys have punished the heats everytime they stick to the game plan, which is to pound the paint and close drive in lanes, thus restricting LBJ to shooting threes.

Its very sad to watch Wade now, its obvious injuries and age have caught up with him, same goes to Ray allen, dude can't make a three to save his life, i guess we rode the best out of him. grin grin grin grin

If Hibbert continues with this performance he might become the best center in the very very near future, the league is lacking real talents that can take over, especially young ones and Hibbert is a breath of fresh air.

If they are to win in Miami, Lance has to play better, they have to close the drive in lanes, crash and pound the board offensively and defensively, its going to be very very tough in Miami, but i think they can pull this one out.
JeSoul: I agree the toughness of the Pacers is not yet there, but I wouldn't be so dismissive. Its true Hibbert is not made of beast material, but he's good enough to do some damage - IF they come to play ball, focused and passionate...cos they obviously mentally check out of games as they did against the inferior Hawks in Rd 1. If not anything, I would attribute them not being able to beat Miami.
I talk am oh say Indy has the talent...let's see if they can pull the upset.
Birdman suspended! That might be a difference maker not like it would matter if Haslem is making 8 shots in a row. Indy need a way to slow down Lebron! He's owned Paul George in this series
Don't mind them jare. After the fact. The Pacers could've won the series by now if not for nonsense officiating...I've never been one to entertain talks of conspiracy but honestly...some of the blatantly bad calls have truly been amazing.

Another fantastic article brother Candour. It's quite a charge to be able to be selfless 100% of the time. I'm sure we all are to some degree but to completely put on the cloak of Christ at all times...may God in His mercy empower us. Amen!

Ps hope you've been well. Wish we read more from you on here. Godbless!!!

CAMEROONPRIDE: What do you mean by links? We are on the thread I don't know which links you want again. When I posted my comments his insults were still there hence my comments. Now if you were still going through the thread or hiding comments ,I don't know but what I know is his insults were there and halfwits and illiterate are considered as insults on this board, tho I may b wrong.
I quoted this comment so maybe that's why you didn't hide tho.

And it is one thing to say I'm not biased and another thing to act with an unbiased attitude note that I'm not exclusively referring to you
No problem brother. When I said links you know you can link to specific posts like this https://www.nairaland.com/1307271/michael-adebowales-high-school-picture/2#15978505. For your benefit and others I just wanted to make it clear I have no reason to hide one post and leave another. If it ever happens, it was a mistake, a mistake I'll like to know so I can correct it. Thanks.

CAMEROONPRIDE: Maybe halftwit and illiterate are not insults
I'm genuinely asking for links...if there are any insults left it is because it was missed not left on purpose. Just so there are no false insinuations of favoritism or selective moderation. I looked thru again and saw one post he said "halfwit or a semi-illiterate". It has been hidden. Anywhere else? you implied several when you said "comment s" .

Flytefalls: Oi Shymexx, you're a Malcolm X disciple right? undecided Self-defence intelligence:

http://sonsofmalcolm..co.uk/2013/05/black-panthers-in-greece-start-to-fight.html?m=1

Enjoy. Racism in Europe feels no will to hide nowadays. I was looking forward to learning of such a group undecided
Honestly, there's 2 sides to every coin as they say. I recall one episode that left me thoroughly embarrased. I was in downtown Athens and suddenly heard screaming and shouting and a group of ~5 black women questionably dressed running and everyone in the crowd was staring at them. As they ran past me I recognized the unmistakable pidgin english & accent that identified them as Nigerians, they were laughing & giggling as they ran. They were being chased by an older white man who was shouting at them. I felt so embarrased for them and that they were Nigerians. Most of the time we came across black folks they were either at the station 'hustling' or something shady. And naturally, we encountered some racist attitudes through our stay. But I can honestly not blame some of the local greeks. Black people give ourselves a bad name. When you go to a foreign land and disrespect your host, what do you expect? unfortunately the hate and racism will in turn be taken out on other innocent black people.

shymexx: Gwan rudegyal? Erthing bless, yeah? Man a fi luk fi yuh errwhere, ya noe. tongue

I rate Bro. Malcolm X and I absolutely respect everything he stood for, but I'm definitely not-part/not-interested in any militant group like Sons-of-Malcolm, or black panthers. grin Fighting for black people is a waste of time and energy. The same people would be the ones to snake you and sell you out for a nickle - so what's the point? The black race is a lost race and most are comfortable with the status quo.
Damn. lol. I don't even know what to say to this cheesy grin

Another soccer (yes I said soccer cheesy) addict.

Hmmm. I said certain things on that track, I shouldn't have said. That was why I deleted it. I'll probably upload it again for you before weekend, or record another special freestyle for you. grin For the induction, we need to your pic. That's what the stakeholders of the thread agreed on after deliberating on what the requirement(s) should be. tongue
okay cool...just interested in hearing your 'style'...you do it for fun or you're a musician on the side? (I am myself, why I ask) as for the pic cheesy...you mean these smiley faces don't do it justice? grin

Boston sounds like an interesting place. And probably the Liverpool of America. I just hope the accent isn't as weird as the scouse accent lol. What's the real Bostonian accent like? I bet it has tons of Irish influence lol. I absolutely love any place close to the coast and I can see myself living there. Also, do you support the Patriots? I'm a NFL head.

As for the first stop - I really don't know yet. I need to see what summer has got in stock for me. Autumn looks most likely.
Accents can be tricky things...there is definitely a Boston accent but I don't think its hard to understand at all (of course I'm biased). I think southern (mississipi & co) accents are probably the trickiest of american accents to get. I think the British accent is undecided. I'd been on the road for a bit and was happy to finally be in an english-speaking country where I could communicate...mehn was I wrong lol. I could barely understand most of the time what the heck they were saying. There was this recent ESPN commercial featuring two brits & their EPL teams, I've seen it at least 10 times, I still have no idea what they're saying lol.

and did you say NFL? know ye not that I am the unofficial NFL activist here on NL? I ran the ship for ~4seasons until I took a break last season https://www.nairaland.com/170354/nfl-11-12-season-here-where

shymexx: I had the video on youtube for a while but I've deleted it now...

Anyway, we need to induct you, Lady JeSoul. grin

What's life like in Boston? - Is it like other major American cities?
Why you delete am now? I wanna see... Hehe...so how many Kolanut, tubers of yam and bottles of schnapps should I bring?

Beantown is pretty cool, least I think so smiley. See me profile pic. It is very much like Chicago in terms of overall "feel", though Chicago has way more, drop dead impressive architecture. Its also kind of similar to Philadelphia because of the historical/nostalgic aura they both have. If you looked at a map of the two, you'd see Philly was well planned & developed (straight lines thru the city), Boston is more of a 'sprawling' outwards from the ocean as the settlers moved inland, so its not the easier place to navigate, part of what makes the place unique. And from the few places south like Texas I've been to, those are nothing like up here, quite different in many ways.

So, where is your first stop? cheesy
