shymexx: Loool... All the bars that I'm Nastradamus-ing aren't mine, those are Nas' bars lool. Hence why I keep referencing Nastradamus lool. Anyway, I've got bars and metaphors for days, though. Don't worry - I'll post the freestyle video soon, just haven't been able to upload it on youtube.oops! Nasiru's stuff, my bad, missed that . Okay, I'll reserve my rating until I hear your stuff.I'm not really into gospel music like that, but I do listen to Kirk Franklin and Mary Mary sometimes. Don't tell me you're like Bassey Impki of Def Jam Poetry. I absolutely love that woman. I used to follow her on twitter(back when I was active on there) till she disappeared. The woman was too real for twitter loool!!!Yooo Bassey is the ish!!! love that girl. I used to be a regular on her website at basseyworld.com and on myspace a while back...until yeah she stopped being active. So many amazing talents on Def poetry over the years, I followed very religiously. I honestly like your taste in music - and we kind of have the same taste, only that I'm also in Fela Kuti, blues, bashment, grime, house music, calypso, and a little bit of country music. I messed with soft rock and jazz for a while and I'm planning to get into classical music and some francophone African music as well. What type of documentary have you done? Have you ever been interviewed on CNN? - if so, I might know the person behind your handle loool.Nice choices. Can't have Soul music without Blues for me lol. And country music (along with Rap imo) has the best story-tellers in all of music. And abeg oh...which interview for CNN? lol, abeg me I'm just a small girl doing mostly local (new england) stuff. Was involved in one documentary for the musuem of african american history. It won an award recently in NY. Defo on the look-out for a sports-mum. And if she isn't into sports - I'll definitely make her love sports lool. I made my ex love basketball and soccer. And this chic was always on the look-out for any NBA game London, just to surprise me with match tickets looool. I do watch a little bit of baseball as well, but I don't really follow it religiously the same way I follow other sports. Baseball and Golf are on the same level with me. I just watch the important games, like the series in baseball - and Masters in golf.Poor girl she no know say plans area already being made for her wherever she is hehe. I tried to get into playing golf a while back...there are 2 reasons why it was very very difficult . Which sports do you play btw? Lmao. Hockey is a crazy sport. The white yobs are nuts, and I'm surprised they don't really talk about the rowdiness of baseball. However, they're always quick to judge players in the NFL and NBA. They need some black brothers in there to spice things up for them.100% on the money there. That's one the reasons I get upset with the obvious double standards from the media and ppl in general. If its white ppl fighting it was a "skirmish" or "tussle"...black people and it was a "brawl". Yeye people. Sloane got destroyed by Sharapova today. She needs to work on her serve, though. I honestly don't think it'll be an easy ride for Serena, after watching Sharapova and Azarenka today. She needs to be at her best to be able to dislodge those two players. Also, Serena has been waltzing over players since she won her first grandslam even when Davenport and the two Belgian girls were active. She has the variety of serve, the power, mental edge, and movement - most tennis players lack. Her finesse might be questionable, however, she has always had more than enough in her arsenal to destroy anyone on her day.I will never forget what 16yr old Sharapova did to Serena at Wimbledon final (2004?) damn...Serena was undressed in ways that no one (except Venus of course) had till then. I think Sharapova tho with some majors under her belt, hasn't lived up to expectations (and she's had injuries that slowed her down). No worries about Sloane...she's just breaking out. She has the mental fortitude to be a champion, the game and conditioning just has to catch up and it will . |
Flytefalls: Of course, the power is in the individual and I can also love them collectively. I also would like to see a break in that cycle but recently I've grown disenchanted. I'm currently on a quest to change a law (I'm not alone on this one) and the frustration is real, as is the feeling of many. If lawmakers do not care, we will also stop caring. If I am a "good" person, I hope to remain so despite the outcome. I am having to talk myself away from believing my biggest hindrance is my race. It is unacceptableI feel you sister. It can get weary fighting for a cause and there doesn't seem to be any change in sight. I'll just encourage you to not lose hope or faith in the best of humanity...History is littered with amazing people who chose not to give up and give in, who chose not to join them when they couldn't beat them. You're not staying "good" for their sake, but for yours. |
shdemidemi: Regardless of the human perspective or categorisation of these acts, it is imperative as saints (God's chosen people) to know, understand and adhere to the Biblical views (God's view) on these issues. This will ensure that we are not ignorant and easily dissuaded from the truth of God's word. The Scripture makes it clear to us, the various evils known to Man, (based on ungodliness) their effect on the Word of God and the damnable consequences on doers of such evil.Word! |
chukkynwob: @jesoul any update?Uncle sorry oh...Seun has not replied yet. The guy can be very busy so give it a bit of time. I'll harrass him again in a bit. Thanks! HumbledbYGrace: haba, I still care. A lot...Aww so sweet. Thank you sis. Been reading your posts around...especially the tribute thread tho I couldn't handle more than a few paragraphs and had to stop before I became a wreck. You must be one helluva strong to the moon & back woman, I would still be incapacitated in so many ways if I were in your shoes, yet here you are, encouraging & loving others. Wow!!!!Richieboyn: Yea... I'm doin very fyn...u?My dear we thank God oh ![]() |
Are these police officers that foolish? surely they knew surveillance cameras were on? this cannot be the first time they've behaved like this, just this time the video got leaked out. See the portly one @1:35, falling down as he tried to drag her by the leg. No shame. Treating someone like an animal. I know police officers have to deal with all kinds of nonsense from criminals all the time but there is no excuse for the way they behaved here. What happened to professionalism? aren't they trained to respond calmly to provoking situations? I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was indeed racially motivated. The poor lady shouldn't worry though. Firing them is not enough, a hefy lawsuit will be filed against the Jasper police dept. and she will retire all set for the rest of her life. |
Bigcycs, hi there. I added a quote from your link to give the story more details. Cheers. and btw, some of those comments on the link are truly oozing with ignorance & racism. |
truthislight: beautiful thread i say.Come and join us anytime dear ![]() |
And oh...happy fishing to Jason Kidd ![]() I remember his New Jersey days (with Kenyon martin & co), he was a triple double machine terrorising my Celtics playoffs after playoffs. He has had a fantastic career and I wish him well beyond. He seems like perfect coaching material, should be on someone's bench soon. |
It is but what can one do? Its the world we live in these days! We have an openly g@y ninja in the league and they expect us all to pat em on the back! Chris Broussard talked about disagreeing with the g@y baller's lifestyle and he damn near got slaughtered! I respect ESPN for not firing him some news corporations would have
My brother na so we see am oh! they won't fine you if you say what they want to hear, but the minute you voice some opposition the gag gets put on. Nonsense. Broussard earned like a truck-load of respect from me for being the only one with enough stones to stand up and speak his convictions and damn the consequences (and if he worked for the nba he woulda probably gotten fined). The rest of them just sold-out or too scared to voice their opinions cos of Stern and his minions. Useless nonsense. Lol I play basketball small and I know how tired I get after each game I played twice a week or less sef now imagine these guys what they deal with! My suggestion is cut the games and reduce the money! These teams still wind up the biggest losers losing money and alllol, well if that will also reduce ticket prices so that the average joe can attend games without selling an arm...that would be good ![]() |
Congrats to the Heat for taking care of business at home. Indy has a bright future...if they can add one or two more pieces they can go all the way. I'm a bit suspect of Frank Vogel tho...some of his decisions were sketchy, but he did get them this far so credit to him. birdman: There have been grumblings over the seasons that the league being majority black makes Stern believe he can humiliate players. NFL is more balanced. Its one of the reasons I like Dwade - he almost whooped Stern's @ss in one meeting when Stern was talking down to playersYou know I think this is a fantastic point. I wouldn't be surprised, and as usual, we bend over and take it No other major league sport operates as shadowly as the NBA. Speaking of the Celtics, they do have one more run in them if Rondo comes back healthy - but it will be futile. I forsee a Garnett injury should he try to log significant minutes next season. And I know Melo will be waiting againKG will be back I hope and I think if Doc can keep his minutes about the same or just a bit less than this year, he can last the whole season and be productive. |
Pastor Kun: Now you must compensate me with that egusi soupUncle no vex... shey DHL abi UPS dey deliver for your side? ![]() |
Vikin: Salad and barbecue pork...ROTFLOL |
Oga crazyman, you have mail...this your email self, be like say you dey miss messages from time to time ![]() |
The fine on Hibbert is rubbish but we are in the politically correct era so I guess the best thing is not to say anything at all
We don't want zombies...let people be able to speak and deal with the consequences from the fans on their reputation. This gag order is becoming annoying, this is not China jor. The NBA really need to look into cutting down their number of games! Its hard to be sympathetic to the players since they earn so much but at the end of the day the fans and the teams still wind up the biggest losers! Look at Rose with the Bulls and Bynum with the SixersEhn you say wetin? lol. Abeg oh, you can never have too much NBA . Let the strong survive and weak ones be weeded out. Someone else will rise and take their place. |
Hi tdade, I modified the formatting of your post to make it easier to read. Cheers. |
Flytefalls: Lol, I am half Jamaican, my people are rarely missed wherever they choose to leaveLol. Rantings are great for the soul. Your quote in bold is just dead spot on that I cannot but wholly and completely agree. And therefore the cycle will just continue to perpetuate generation after generation. I think individually, we should just try to make our small mark/difference in whatever situation we find ourselves. I'll never forget in the midst of all the racist and discriminatory behavior I came across, there was this one Greek guy who took his time to help us and be friendly...the world is crazy, but I thank God for good people who still exist and make a difference even if its in only a small way. |
Yield: I tried, no?Hey Yield, sis how do you like using that flat kind of stove top? do you find that it heats just as efficiently as direct flames? (I'm sure its better than the electric coil type). I'm thinking of possibly getting similar. |
Pastor Kun: Am I invited as well? You strike me as a pounded yam and egusi type of guy here you go... https://www.nairaland.com/1122902/cook-kitchen-take-pictures-post/19#14988563 |
shymexx: "Woolie thai?" - that's weed laced with crack.and I have learned something new today lol. I'll give it to ya Shymexx, you got some flow from the bit you've posted Exhibit B has to be audio so we can ascertain the package is complete .shymexx: Soccer, you know lol. I can live with that, since I'm also a NFL head. And what do you have against gospel music? lol. What comes to mind? Sunny Okosun? or Kirk Franklin? lol. Gospel music is as diverse as there are musicians. I worked the poetry/spoken word circuit for quite a while. Then got into rap, then reggae and most recently I do mostly acoustic guitar/soul music. Done a bit of tv and documentaries also. The Southern accent is funny and those who speak it always look obnoxious regardless how intelligent they sound(or might want to sound) lool. The English accent is easy to understand, especially London and Southern England. If you think English accent is difficult, try Scotland lool. However, certain parts of the UK have ridiculous accents. Scouse(Liverpool), West/East Midlands, and Northern England. I remember when I first moved to Birmingham, it took me a week, to be able to decipher the accent.Lol. That must've been what I kept hearing cos honestly, I saw shocked I found it so difficult to understand, I've seen a british programme or two, and it wasn't that bad...but TV must have a way of softening the blow lol. The scottish accent to me is the worst in the world, yuck! I absolutely admire women who love sports. Soccer mums, football mums, basketball mums etc..Lol. Hope your future wifey ends up being a sports lover too or else ehn lol. Our sundays are not too different...sports galore (after church of course ). Baseball self, I dey watch am...though hubby draws the line on that one lol. Haven't been able to convince him to attend a baseball game yet. Hmmm. We've the same taste when it comes to sports. I can't stand ice hockey as well. But I watch almost everything else.Word. I don't get the craze over hockey...half the time the Are you watching the French Open? After watching the first and second round - I think Monfils would be the dark horse. The way he smacked Berdych shocked me, tbh. For someone who has been absent from the circuit the whole year due to injuries, to come back and play the way he did, is just amazing. I doff my hat to his athleticism. But I definitely can't write off Tsonga, Warwinka, and Almagro. As for the women, it's Serena's to lose, to be honest.Honestly, been slacking this french open...only catching the highlights. I will be watching this week tho now that the field is narrowed down to just the big boys & gals. Women's tennis has been shot for a while honestly, not much on their side to excite far as I'm concerned...but I have big hopes for that chick Sloane, what she did to Serena at the Aussies is the stuff that builds up legends . Serena is lucky the women's field is weak...if this was 8-10yrs ago she would not be waltzing past opponents like this. |
birdman: Hibbert fined 75K for "no homo" phrase. Na wa o... I think this will impact his game a bit come Monday. Anyhow I see Miami losing this gameHonestly I don't even know why the NBA operates like a communist organization. Cannot say this, cannot critisize that, cannot wear this, cannot do that. Abegi jor *hiss* David Stern should retire to China and let this league evolve. Take cues from the NFL...they run a tight ship without it seeming overbearing. birdman: The calls have been pretty decent and bad calls have gone both ways. I havent seen any blatant, game changing ones all series except maybe against the heat in game 3. Even those calls are credible. If Wade didnt take every other game off, the Heat would have won by now. Now they have to play a younger Pacers team with nothing to lose. I hope Wade breaks a leg and doesnt playI don't think so mehn. There was this possession call in game 5 (if I get time I'll go find it on youtube). It clearly went off Lebron underneath the Pacers rim. Rather than look at the replay as the Pacers were protesting they awarded the call to Miami. Ensuing play Lebron scores a 2pter. Pacers get it back, lose it. Ray Allen comes back and scores a 3pter. Time out pacers. Just like that, one call results in a 5pt swing in Miami's favor. I agree there have been bad calls both ways, but I think it is clearly in Miami's favor majority of the time. And though I'm a Celtic fan I also believe the Celtics (and Lakers) too are beneficiaries of biased calls often. |
chukkynwob: Please I'll really appreciate if my username can be modified from chukkynwob to H2SO4 ,when I joined I didn't really consider the secrecy of my identity and the threat that comes with having a username that can be recognised easilyI will submit it to Seun now. Your reason is a good one and hopefully he obliges. I'll get back to you sir. Godbless! Muskeeto, I owe you a plate of my special Fried Rice & oven roasted chicken along with dodo you can come and collect anytime. |
Ihedinobi: It is really good that you weighed in, sis. I'm glad I could help at all, if I did. You've cleared up a good deal, I assure you. God bless you, sis.Oh you certainly helped my dear brother, thank you! and I also appreciate the concern you raised too - I depend on you all to keep me straight! Before I became I mod there were many things I complained about too...but the view from here affords you quite a different perspective on many things. I hope many people here get the chance to be mods so they can understand. musKeeto:Lol. Well to be honest...I read mostly from page 4 onwards, skipping the obvious rants of course (as a mod you have to be able to read thru long threads quick to moderate efficiently, now multiply this thread by all the ones in this section and you'll see how time consuming it can be! lol). I know Ihe & LB banter all the time but thought to peek in & pay attention when I saw some others like yourself, Strik etc post some concerns & questions. I truly do respect a lot of you very much and I owed you guys an explanation. That is how to go about it, raise valid concerns without abuse or rants and I hope my explanation addresses all the concerns raised. If there's anything else, you all know where to find me . |
Candour: God bless you dear sister. Thanks a lot for your comment. This is a very key point that we should keep in mind. Leaving room for recognition that on this side of eternity we will fall short, but praise God! He is faithful to complete the good work He began in us. @the bolded. It's almost like you have the gift of clairvoyance.I've been under the weather lately but am getting stronger.I will try to be more active henceforth God helping me.I have the gift of unquenchable love for those of my Father's household ...your spirit is undeniable hence one of the few people I follow on NL cos I don't want to miss your very enriching and encouraging and challenging topics. I pray for God's strength to complete your healing and strengthen you fully. By God's grace you are healed and charged to post more and more edifying posts . Godbless my brother! |
