Thanks. Can I pm you
Bsbabe:

Yes, you can choose a different school from your designated school. I did that and all it took was to fill a form for boundary exemption but note that you will be responsible for getting your child to and from school as he/she won't be eligible for busing, except in cases where the boundary exemption is program related - e.g. you want an International Baccalaureate program for your child and the school offering it is out of your boundary.
Travel / Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by Jesuba: 3:18am On Nov 22, 2018
Thank you for your response. The catholic secondary school closest to us do not offer the courses that my son prefers. Some secondary schools seem to focus on specialised areas, and I think it us possible to choose another school if the school board permits.
Bsbabe:

Your child's high school will depend on where you live so if you are yet to land, you can decide that your order of sorting things out will be to find a school you're comfortable with first and then ensure you rent within the school boundaries. You can use the Fraser rankings to get an idea of the school's performance - http://ontario.compareschoolrankings.org/secondary/SchoolsByRankLocationName.aspx. Note though that one ranking can't tell you all you need to know. If you have a shortlist of schools, you can also read online reviews - 'google' or 'rate my teacher'. You may pick up a few things about the school if a particular comment trends amongst the reviewers. Also, some people tend towards Catholic schools as they are perceived to have more 'discipline'. Also, Catholic schools have uniforms and somehow, that's a preference for some. In summary, I think it's all about what you are looking for in a school and the location in relation to your home. In the London and Middlesex area, we have the busing website which can help you determine what schools your address is eligible to attend and whether or not the students will be eligible for busing or will have to walk to school. It is https://transportation.mybigyellowbus.ca/Eligibility.aspx?Page=Transportation. I don't know the equivalent of this service in the Toronto/GTA area. You may also check if there's one and that can help with making a decision.

Okay, very informative. Thanks for your help @ Salford and Blackbuddy. I think I will look for a house that will definitely be on a bus route as one of my kids is young. Grateful for the pointers.
smiley

Blackbuddy:

Hi, yes they will have to walk. The alternative as already pointed out to you by salford is to drive/walk them to school your self or engage a private school bus company to drop/pick them up for you at your expense.

You could contact Attridge Transportation, a private bus company I just found that covers your city and make enquiries among your options, http://attridgetransportation.com/daily_school_bus_routes

A lil help please.
We found a house at Burlington, and I checked the school bus route only to find that my Children at this address will not be eligible for bus transportation. While school is only 11 minutes on foot, will my children be expected to make this trip on foot in wintry conditions

But he was not truly adopted ....

The catch is always the same. Immigration officers do a thorough review if all dossier received. It's a ban/ rejection for him if he is lying.

Thanks smslive, I don't have a birth cert, my brother doesn't have either. I have declaration of age. I read somewhere that I need adoption papers to show I am adopted? cry

My spouse and sibling in Canada also didn't have birth certs so we used baptismal certs and their respective marriage certificates which stated the same parent.( And so far no issue with that).

So you need to show that you were adopted. 2 ways: adoption documents if the process was done in court. Or customary adoption (if allowed in Nigeria, am in Ghana and it is legal here). You need to prove that that you have lived together and that his parents paid e.g your fees, bills, you living address must have been the same as his.if you can get all these kinds of receipts documents/old pictures of you/him/parents, that should work with a detailed loe and affidavit attesting to the facts.

The lawyers on the thread can shed more light.

If you want to apply for US, UK and Canada visit visa, they say travel history is an advantage
Now you want to apply for Canadian PR... travel history now becomes a stumbling block for faster processing.

An excerpt from one of your posts ... " my visa was revoked cos I used B1/B2 visa for child birth and made use of some insurance during child birth" .

Two issues I've identified. (1) Use of B1/B2 visa for childbirth (2) insurance debt

For No. 1, well, it might not be much of an issue ( could be an emergency delivery for all i care smiley) if No.2 is dealt with.

It is contradictory to be indebted and claim you have the required POF. It would be better to pay up your debt because POF is such a crucial requirement in this process . CIC also requires that you state any outstanding debt.

Where you explicitly state what you owe US gov't in insurance in your application without redeeming such, it counters your POF and when slashed against POF (assuming reviewing officer is lenient enough to do so) , you're short of POF requirement. On the other hand, being coy about the debt, may land you into misrepresentation because they'd definitely know.

To be honest, take your time and pay the debt no matter how painstaking it might be . Failure of which, might raise the issue of insolvency (and credibility, if I may add) of PA.

Cheers!

Care to share you timeline with us.
