Agrochemicals 20k.
Seeds & fertilizer 10k.
Farm asst salary (2 months) 40k.

Total estimate: 250k.
Great work at OP but please help me with some questions as someone that want to invest.
1. Why are you using growbags? And not planting directly?
2. What type of soil did you put in the grow bag? Is it treated soil, just any soil, loamy or sandy soil.
3. How do you intend to water the cucumber considering the irrationality of rainfall?
Is there a well nearby or borehole?
Is it drip irrigation or sprinkler?
Is it hand wetting?
4. What type of land preparation is 30k?. I meant is it uprooting of trees or clearing and burning? Is it ploughable land?
5. What quantity of bamboo do you source at N40,000? 100 pieces or more
6. What type of staking are you looking at?
7. How much with fixing the bamboo cost?
8. How many pieces of bamboo will an acre require?
9. What type of sack are you using. Is it the recomended one or an alternative source?
10. Whats the name of the agrochemicals? What will be the application rate? per week or per month or everyday? What quantity will i be using?
Is it Liquid fertilizer or NPK? Is it organic or conventional?
11. Which brand of seed are we using? Hybrid or open field? Whats the quantity requirements in grams per acre? How long did it take to germinate? What is the colour of the cucumber?
12. Is it only one farm assistance?
Will he be the one to handle the labour work for the one acre?
Or we will later need more hands.
13. Is the 10k logistic for a month or two month?
14. What will be the yield of the cucumber in tonnes or kilo or in bag?
How do we sell the cucumber?
Who are the expected buyers?
Will they come and buy on the farm or we transport to them?
What is the distance of the farm to the nearest market?
15. What will be expected price of our products if its peak period or low petiod of sales.

Sorry for the long story. But once bitten twice shy. One needs to be very very careful especially with nairaland farmers.

a. Select the land:
What type of soil does the crop require?
The ph of the soil: Is it alkaline or acidic?
Is it sandy or loamy soil?
The organic content of the soil?
The history: What was previously planted?

b. Work the soil
Bedmaking : Flatbed or ridges
Solarisation/ sterilization
Enriching the organic content with manure
Removing the debris
loosening the soil

AgricultureRe: Agricultural Loan Is Available In Osun And Oyo State Only For Now by jethro2: 11:01pm On Jun 10, 2015
As an intending farmer, its not advisable to start with loan.
There are lot of unforseen circumstances in agriculture.
For instance, rain usually begins from March and at worst April.
But this year was exceptional, nit until May ending and even June in some places.
Manage with what you have.
Start small
Grow big

How do i apply the dongoyaro fluid,i mean the quantity to mix in the 16 litre spraying tank.
Depends on the population of insects disturbing your pepper farm. If you use a mild mixture and the insects are still there.
Then increase the concentration.
Dongoyaro is neem tree.
You can google neem fertilizer for more info

Words cant express how happy i am on your quick response. Pls ma,how do i apply this Furadan(am a student of YABDI Abeokuta, doing chilli pepper presently on 4 plots. I love to farm tomato but missed your theory session).
Applying furadan:
Make a circle around the root of pepper of about 0.5cm distance. Apply furadan to form a ring or circle around the root

Thanks alot ma,am talking about controlling tse-tse flies on chilli pepper.
The local method: Get some dongoyaro seed. Grind and soak in water for a week or more. Sieve the content and use the water as insecticide to spray the chilli pepper.
2. Plant basil leave intervally within the pepper farm.

Common method.
Use insecticide.
But over time insects becomes resistance to the insecticide.

Best is to keep trying different methods

Please don't go into farming with that mentality of harvest first.
I think you should be more concerned about the work that needs to be input.
There are lit uncontrollable factors involve in farming.
How do you control rain, sun, temperature, relative humidity etc
Please learn the basics which might take some time before plunging in.

Thanks Madam Jethro2,how do i sterilize or solarize the soil. Whats the cause if the big tse-tse flies are always on the pepper leaves.
To sterilize; You cook the soil to a very high temperature. This will kill all the remnants nematodes eggs from the previous season planting.
Solarise; During the preparation of the soil after ploughing you leave it to receive maximum sunlight for minimum of 2 weeks or more.
Tsetse fly/ white fly: Some hybrid tomatoes are resistance to this

I only apply insecticide and fungicide on the pepper. Am using dried poultry manure as fertilizer.
Fungicide can be use to treat the soil before planting eg Furadan.
AgricultureRe: Step By Step Guide For Growing Tomato--pictures by jethro2: 10:35pm On Jun 09, 2015
@ Bhurlagy.
Once the foundation is wrong the house can not stand.
Vegetables are very delicates and one needs to get it right from the begining.
Your Soil is very important.
You need to know the history of the soil before planting.
By history i meant what was planted there before.
Steps in raising a healthy plant include but not limited to:
1. Treat the soil by sterilization or solarisation. Both nursery beds and the field
2. Use poultry waste or other organic content to revive the soil
3. Use resistance seed
4. Nursery management is very essential.
5. Regular and consistence watering.
6. Use net to protect against insects.

The possibility of having a healthy annd productive plant greatly reduced if any of the step is omitted.

Its hard and by luck for vegetables to recover or survive once they are infected.

Prevention is better than cure really applies to vegetables especially tomatoes.

Its one of the most delicate crop to plant.

I hope you are able to salvage some of your plants?

I also hope this help to some extent even if its coming late.

Best of luck

Supermarkets do visit farms to verify their process for quality control. The customer picks as much he/she wants and go weigh it. l always pick about 400gm of okra which l pay N100 for, it happens to be the same quantity l buy in open markets in Lagos for the same N100 but in a better atmosphere!
Better atmosphere!!!!

That's interesting.
Wish we can upgrade the Nigeria farmers to that level. We don't have measurement, grade/scale or packaging for vegetables.
There is currently no standard market for fresh vegetables. People scouts every where
