I thought I should share some experience if it will help you or others as per "la Francophonie".

We received the newcomers help with settling to life in Canada and in addition, received special services through a link provided by the French school our kids attend. So the list services are similar to the ones provided by ACCESS, YMCA, etc., only this time it is mainly aimed at Francophones and it is quite detailed if I am honest. So in effect, you will be getting double support like we did.

With regards to school, our kids attend a French catholic school. It is a nice French community. Your kids can also start with a French immersion school and navigate to an all French school in future. We found registering the kids for French schools extra easy as they want to take care of the Francophones. Plenty of support for francophones.

With respect to jobs, I can categorically tell you that there are jobs in Ontario that require bilingual people.

Ontario is expensive, granted but as a bilingual, you want to be either in Quebec or Ontario. Opportunities abound. Just ask.

She needs a minimum of one year experience to be eligible. The score itself is very okay but you need to check her eligibility for Federal Skill Workers Program. I think someone else married to a doctor already clarified that the clinical experience counts as work experience.

Since she is fluent in both French & English, is below 30 yrs old, even with 1 yr work experience (if clinical experience passes this test) her CRS will be somewhere between 496 and 504 or higher (hope my maths is correct) IF she can max out on both the TEF Canada and IELTS exams AND you (the spouse) can also evaluate a BSc and max out on IELTS. Play around with the CRS calculator or grid also on page 1 to verify.

I implore you to study page 1 thoroughly. Her age and knowledge of French outweigh the lack of work experience.

IMO she is a prime candidate for express entry if she gets max scores in both IELTS and TEF and you do the same. Your lack of a BSc degree reduces the CRS by 8 points but nothing spoil, if her 1 year clinical work can count as work experience. She'd be wise to update the language she has the most CLB10s in as her first language when creating a profile.

@ bold...I like your spirit....but don't underestimate IELTS, that exam has a way of disgracing scholars.

Please study page 1...it'll become much clearer that this is completely doable.

This is really sound advice. I hope he sees it. I’d only add that they should pursue PR in hand first, do soft landing and then go to the UK to get that bridging experience. This is what my brother-in-law is currently doing. This man’s wife is even in a somewhat better position since she’s just starting her career and hasn’t specialized. My BIL was a specialist in Nigeria (pediatrics) but upon getting to the UK, his specialty is disregarded and he had to start over as a GP in the hospital’s pediatric department.

Thank you for your reply. I don't have a degree. I'm a self taught IT guy, working in IT industry. Though, I've started online degree course.
Wanted to do it for myself when I first checked, but when I put into consideration the fact that I don't have degree, I'm 35 years old and don't speak French, I realised she has more chance than me.
I know that I can pass IELTS very well, because, I've tried to study for it before, and tried questions. And I'm sure she can pass too, including the TEF(I've made her to check it out).
Now, do you think we can still do something without me having degree?

I tried to message you privately but you didn’t respond so I’ll drop my advice here and it is not far from what others have mentioned. My wife is also a physician and it is a bit of long walk. Firstly she needs to start getting experience now, she can get that in Morocco or Nigeria but her best option is Morocco because she has a residency card.

With Nigeria when she returns, she still will be required to do a bridging exam with Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, I know it has been an annual exam, not sure if it is more frequent now and surprisingly, the pass rate is very low! Without that she can’t work as a Medical Doctor in Nigeria.

While she’s getting that experience she has to verify her degree with Medical Council of Canada through https://physiciansapply.ca/ this can be another long process depending on how quick her school responds.

Finally IELTS would be required but if she has the fluency to write TEF/TCF which are French exams, it will reduce how much work experience she would require.

Note 1: Medical Degree is categorized as professional degree so it is equivalent to MSc also Clinical experience can be claimed as work experience if it is up to one year and was paid no matter how little.

Note 2: Practicing Medicine in Canada as a Foreign Trained Physician is as difficult as almost impossible, she needs to know she will have to find a different pathway for survival while attempting to practice.

Note 3: The best path way for Doctors is to go to the UK, get their residency done before moving to Canada as there is a bridging program for UK trained doctors.

If age is on her side, let her write IELTS and enter EE pool, or focus on health related courses from schools in QUEBEC, to take advantage of her bilingual skills, though POF will be higher.
