Health / Re: TTC -you Have Tried All Options And Nothing Worked!!! by jill28: 8:47am On Jun 02, 2016
So good! AMEN>
heroesoff8:
Morning Heroes of faith! It is that time of the year again especially for us ttc women where we are likely to activate anxiety mode! Yes this is June and 2016 is half spent! Some people might be wondering, so this is how this year will come and go yet nothing to show for it!
Friend come off it, I have a message for you if you are a Christian! God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power and sound mind! A sound mind is a mind full of joy and devoid of anxiety! It is not an option you must have JOY for the harvest(conception) to come and not harvest before joy! No wonder the bible says in Isa54vs1, phil4:4 and top it up with Nehemiah8:10.
You need to get up and activate joy as the bible says..the joy of the Lord is our strength. Without strength you cannot fight a battle not to talk of winning. That is why the first place the devil attacks is our joy/strength so weakens our ability to posses our harvest!
Get up daughter of Zion! Make up your face, get your new hair, get the music loud and dance unto the Lord in songs rejoicing and giving thanks!
Shallom and happy new month!
Remember Faith has nothing to do with physical senses. All you need just believe.
Love you all

Such an informative read...
callJesu:
How To Solve The Problem Of Azoospermia! [ Part One ]

Today, I am starting a new series that I believe will
be of great help whether you are a man or woman.

Azoospermia.

What does it mean?

How do you react as a woman if you discover that your
husbandhas Azoospermia.

How does it affect your ego and self confidence as a man too?

Simply put, azoospermia is when men don’t produce sperm.

It is the complete absence of sperm in a semen sample,
due to a failure in sperm production or a physical obstruction.

The causes of no sperm or azoospermia could be genetic, lifestyle,
illness, or even prescription medications.

This condition, called azoospermia, affects approximately 1 percent of the
male population and is responsible for about a sixth of cases of male infertility.

Sperm are very sensitive to a variety of influences – and a difference of three months
can change the results of a sperm test.
We’re continually exposed to environmental toxins and stress, which has a direct
effect on our fertility levels. The toxins in our water, air, and food include glyphosates,
pesticides, heavy metals and plastics.
Daily stress, which is also a type of toxin, weakens our reproductive systems by
increasing our free radical load and chronically elevating our stress hormones.
The result is a decrease in the quality and quantity of healthy sperm.

As a woman, how do you handle such a situation if your husband has been so diagnosed?

Health / Re: 6 Daily Habits To Avoid For Sperm Health by jill28: 1:50pm On May 05, 2016
Awoofawo:
The female half of a couple becomes a soft target when they fail to conceive. Even though statistics say there is 50-50 problem on both sides of an infertile couple. Certain modern day habits can reduce the quantity and quality of sperm, making it hard to conceive. Here are 6 habits you need to avoid for keeping sperm healthy:

1. Carrying Phone in Front Pocket

Recent studies show that the closer your phone is to your pelvis, higher the chances of damaging sperm health. Its better to use the back pocket or a bag to carry your phone.

2. Stress

This affects several body functions, reproductive health being one of them. Studies show that stressed out men have a high rate of abnormally shaped sperm, which creates mobility issues.

3. Smoking

There have been several studies that support the fact that, the sooner one quits smoking, the sooner his system will develop healthy sperm.

4. Weight Gain

Being overweight or obese can have an impact on sperm quantity, as fat boosts estrogen productivity. Excess weight can also cause erectile dysfunction

5. Heat Exposure

Excess exposure to heat can damage sperm. Damage occurs when you have to be exposed to heat on a regular basis.

6. Excess Alcohol

Alcohol consumption can impact overall health, including sperm count and quality.

Family / Re: 10 Things You Must Know As A First Time Mom by jill28: 2:04pm On Apr 14, 2016
Twinkie8:
Breastfeeding isn't easy in the first few days of life: Your baby will fuss and cry a lot because he is not latching properly. If you have a kitchen stool, sit on it, a chair that has firm back and bum rest, sit on it to breastfeed. Avoid sitting on cushions and your soft bed to nurse. Sit and hold the baby like shown on the image above. If your baby has a great appetite and can suck for hours "Foodious baby" try changing positions to avoid back ache. You can start with Cradle hold, then change to cross-cradle hold, lying on your side to breastfeed or doing the laid back method. These are the best breastfeeding methods taught at antenatal and post natal clinics. When you lie by your side to breastfeed, ensure that you do not fall asleep o. Your newborn can choke on the freshly loaded boobies. If you wake up at night to feed and still feeling sleepy, try your best to sit.

ALSO READ: How to give bath to new born baby
You need some new mom breastfeeding essentials like breast pads to keep the loaded milk from soiling your clothes, ask for either disposable or washable breast pads at the baby items shop. There's so much in the disposable packs that you may not exhaust all before your breast milk stops leaking. Remember that stale milk has an odour and as you breast feed, deodorants are very essential. If you must use anti perspirant in your armpits, let them be mild, not the ones with strong fragrances as the baby's nose is always close to the armpits while breastfeeding.
Personal hygiene is very important so you don't begin to suspect that the house is smelling or food is sour when it's you that's oozing. Bathing twice a day is a must o. Please remain shaven so that some nyama-nyama things will not get stuck in the "under forest". Sometimes, the nurses clean you up and shave everything down there during delivery, maintain the habit, it's a good habit. Abeg o,dear mom, don't let the shrub grow back as you nurse, keep it neat and tidy. If you bathe with medicated soaps, the pregnancy dark spots and areas appear to disappear and clean up faster than when you bathe with toilet soaps. Use good medicated soaps and bathe with sea salts. Sea salts worked wonders on my skin, I scrub some soap on the sponge, pour in some salt before scrubbing my skin and it just has a way of cleansing even dark spots that have been on my ankles and knuckles for donkey years. Not the salt we use in cooking pepper soup o, sea salt is different, not for cooking.
You'll have some challenges with excessive farting (passing gas), please eat less milk and sugar), sweating a whole lot at this time especially if you gave birth in the dry season or harmattan. Ensure that you change your bra at least once daily. Do not repeat the bra you used yesterday unless you want to start smelling like rotten fish. Even with breast pads on, sometimes milk still touches or drops on the bra, please change them daily. You don't need to own a ton of bras to change daily, even with just two bras, one can change daily if it's not rainy season. New moms wash daily so, while one bra is being washed, the other one is worn and washed the following day. It's best to wash your bras and under pants with detergents than with bar soaps, soak for at least 30 minutes before washing undies and remember to rinse with plenty of clean water or rinse twice sef.
This fifth point, hmmmm, I can't type here without mentioning it oh. My first girl suffered a lot with cold, we were always going to see the Doctor and giving different medications while continuously exposing her to cold with daily long baths. If the weather is not hot, bathing a baby daily is not necessary. With my other kids, I became wiser and started to observe the weather. If the mornings and evenings are very cold, bathe at noon and that's it. Your baby doesn't do any work yet, is neither a mechanic nor an engineer, just needs to be kept clean and warm. Sometimes just wiping without putting baby in water is enough. Never do the "baby must bathe twice a day" thing if the weather feels cold. If omugwo mummy says that's how you were taken care of, tell her to please postpone the bath to the following day. If your baby is coughing off and on and off and on, sometimes it could be cold from regular bathing in cold weather, watch it. If we had winter in Nigeria, will you dare bathe baby twice daily in December? This doesn't mean that we leave our new babies hot. Over covering and lack of ventilation too are not good, open the windows wide, let air in, the baby needs fresh air and in dry season, turn on the fan, air the room moderately, the fan should blow low or moderately, not high please. Leaving the baby hot can cause skin rash. I haven't mentioned Air conditioners because I nor get yet oh. I nor know which AC temperature is ok for a new born. I use fans in my house for now until God takes me from glory to glory next level, if you use AC, let the temperature not go below say 18 degrees, I hope I'm right sha.
If you have the time, choose breastfeeding over formula. Be baby friendly, even though I breastfed exclusively with just my first alone. The others didn't suck only breast mil because that my first show me shege, she refused to take solid food after the baby friendly ended. Formula isn't bad, but if you are fine and you are spending sometime home with the baby before resuming work, breastfeed as much as possible before introducing formula but again, one thing about introducing formula late is that your baby might reject it.
Be watchful and cordon the bay off with pillows even if you have to leave for a moment. You never know when they start rolling and this leads to accidents. At all times, ensure the baby has pillows blocking him by the sides, front and back, if your baby is in the cot, make sure it's latched properly. Don't let that first fall happen before you learn. You think she cannot move, she'll give no notice about when the first rolling and tossing will start.
You are a mother now, love yourself. Don't compare yourself with other moms o, our bodies are not the same, it was easier for my stomach to bounce back to flat with my first, second and third than with the fourth girl. This is your third or second, that's her first and you have been there tay tay. Stop being a self critic, you'll be fine. Just don't eat too much of pounded yam and eba, starch, plantain, fufu, semovita. If you can make corn fufu, great because corn has very low calorie content. Some women don't have that type of stomach that bounces back immediately, it takes a while so, be patient and do not be too hard on yourself. Your old clothes might not fit immediately after birth, get a few bigger sizes to use at this time as even boobs are heavier and bigger than normal.

I am thrilled for you beautiful. May God continue to bless you abundantly
Favouredmom:
The Lord that doeth what no man can do, how excellent is your name!

The Lord has done it for me o! After over two years of battling in this TTC journey, 1 suspended ICSI cycle, 1 failed FET cycle, days and nights spent weeping and crying my eyes out to God, the Lord has remembered me and blessed me with a very Big Fat Positive HPT today at 9dp5dt.

I give God all the praise. I haven't done my beta test yet, that'll be in two days but the two lines on my pregancy test stick are really dark. I've seen too many negative results in my life to recognise and differentiate a positive one even at first glance.

What I did differently this time:

1. I didn't neglect fasting and prayers, I went on some days fasting prior to my transfer and made sure to intensify my prayers and build my faith in God.
2. I stayed off google up until today, the many discouraging things we read there tend to shake out faith in God. I stopped googling signs and symptoms after transfer
3. I went against my doctors advice and took baby aspirin. I intend to tell him at my next appointment in two days time but I'm sure he wouldn't mind and will be happy it was positive anyway
4. I relaxed as much as I could as I'm a natural workaholic. Took time off work after the transfer and took it easy with chores although I got another job in the process which is a lot easier
5. I kept using my folic acid, vit C & D, omega 3, progynova 6mg that was prescribed by my doctor and the crinone gel which finished before I could get another packet but God still proved himself faithful. I've now continued on the progesterone pessaries.
6. Ate my pineapple slices faithfully from day of transfer till 5dp5dt
Finally, God favoured me!

To all reading this and still in the waiting room, I declare that the waiting is OVER! The Good Lord that did mine like a dream will do yours in Jesus name

Health / Re: First Baby Conceived Through Cryopreservation Emerges From Bridge Clinic by jill28: 11:09am On Apr 04, 2016
maximunimpact:
A leading fertility clinic in Nigeria, Bridge Clinic, has welcomed the first baby boy, Tiwatope, conceived through the oocyte (egg) freezing protocol.

Cryopreservation refers to the cooling of cells and tissues to sub-zero temperatures in order to stop all biological activity and preserve them from future use. Human oocyte cryopreservation (egg freezing) is a process in which a woman’s eggs (oocytes) are extracted, frozen and stored. Later, when she is ready to become pregnant, the eggs can be thawed, fertilised, and transferred to the uterus as embryos.

This offering is being delivered to many women in the developed world and is now being offered in Nigeria by The Bridge Clinic at a cost more affordable than what is obtained abroad.

Tiwatope’s mother had her eggs frozen, using the vitrification, also known as flash-freezing, process. This is the cutting edge technology in cryobiology, where the eggs or oocytes of a woman are dehydrated and the water content is replaced with “anti-freeze” solution (cryoprotectants) before freezing. This will prevent the formation ofice crystals which could destroy the cell.

Tiwa’s birth is significant in many respects. He puts Nigeria on the global map as regards the practice of oocyte cryopreservation, a new offering in the in-vitro fertilization (IVF) space.

Before his birth on 16 February, 2016, this new practice seemed to be an exclusive preserve of the developed world of Europe and North America.

It is even more significant, considering that since the report of the first pregnancy through this protocol in 1986, the practice has resulted in the birth of only about 5,000 babies worldwide.

“At the Bridge Clinic, we celebrate Tiwa’s birth as it is a further demonstration of our coming of age in the practice of assisted reproductive technology. It is a show of the sum of our strengths – our people, our process and our infrastructure. It demonstrates our commitment to global best practices which ensures that our offerings are in tandem with what is obtainable in the developed world, both in variety and in quality.” Said Emmanuel Owie, fertility physician at The Bridge Clinic.

On Tiwa’s mother’s readiness for pregnancy, Emmanuel said “we fertilised the eggs using a standard technique known as Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) in order to overcome the egg shell which normally gets hardened with freezing. The fertilised egg was subsequently transferred into her womb, resulting in the pregnancy with Tiwa. She had her ante natal care in her family hospital and delivered the baby boy through caesarian section.”

“The baby and his mother are in good health to the delight of the family and friends but do not want to put their faces to the names due to the sensitivity that still goes with novel developments like IVF, understandably.

“ They have however, given us permission to use the real name of the baby boy (not surname) as well as the photographs of the new baby,” said Ekundayo Omogbehin, corporate marketing and consumer relations coordinator, Bridge Clinic.

The Bridge Clinic is of the opinion that one day, Tiwa’s parents will overcome the sensitivities and come out to encourage other women who may be in need of this offering to come for it.

Cryopreservation has always played a central role in assisted reproductive technology. The first cryopreservation of sperm was in 1953 and of embryos in 1983. Christopher Chen of Singapore reported the world’s first pregnancy in 1986 using previously frozen oocytes.

These eggs were frozen using a slow-freeze method. This report stood alone for several years, indicating a much lower success rate than that of traditional in vitro fertilisation (IVF) techniques using fresh oocytes. Then came a new direction in cryobiologyin 1999, called vitrification, a flash-freezing process used by Lilia Kuleshova, to achieve a live birth from frozen human oocytes.

Generally, egg freezing is viewed as a way to thwart a “ticking biological clock” of women who when they grow older, are more likely to produce eggs that will have chromosomal abnormalities that can make it harder or impossible for them to conceive and carry pregnancies to term.

According to Emmanuel, “egg freezing is particularly recommended for the following women diagnosed with cancer that may lose their fertility during chemotherapy, women with a family history of early menopause, women with objections to storing frozen embryos for religious and/or moral reasons and women who want or need to delay childbearing in order to pursue some personal goals.”

Based on studies, egg thaw rates of 75% and fertilisation rates of 75% are anticipated in women up to 38 years of age. Thus, if 10 eggs are frozen, 7 are expected to survive the thaw, and 5 to 6 are expected to fertilise and become embryos. Usually 3-4 embryos are transferred in women up to 38 years of age. It is recommended that ten eggs be stored for each pregnancy attempt.

Health / Re: Nigeria's First 'Frozen Egg' Baby by jill28: 11:07am On Apr 04, 2016
With egg freezing, a woman can serve as her own egg donor when she is ready to conceive later in life. It's growing at a rapid pace. More and more women are considering. It is a good investment
uglodoh:

The essence of the frozen egg is a kind of preservation. It is usuaĺly used when there is are multiple births. Instead of the woman going through the process of the ivf all over again. The frozen egg is now implanted into the woman. In her own case, there was no need for it.

Family / Re: Nigeria Records First Baby From Frozen Egg. by jill28: 10:32am On Apr 04, 2016
nikkyejike:
Nigeria has recorded the first successful birth of a baby conceived from frozen egg of a 44-year-old woman, who had suffered infertility for eight years, making it the first in the country and West Africa. The birth and conception of the baby, named Tiwatope, which is the 5001st in the world, were carried out by Nigerian fertility specialists at The Bridge Clinic, a Lagos-based fertility treatment centre, where the mother had her eggs frozen using the vitrification (flash-freezing) process. Announcing the medical milestone, a fertility physician at the Bridge Clinic, Lagos, Dr Emmanuel Owie, said the birth of the baby on February 16, 2016, effectively puts Nigeria on the global map as regards the practice of oocyte (egg) freezing or cryopreservation, a new offering in the in-vitro fertilization (IVF) space.
He said prior to the birth of Tiwatope, the new practice seemed to be an exclusive preserve of the developed world of Europe and North America. He said: “Tiwatope’s mother had her eggs frozen for two months, using the vitrification, also known as flash-freezing, process. This is the cutting edge technology in cryobiology, where the eggs or oocytes of a woman is dehydrated and the water content is replaced with ‘anti-freeze’ solution (cryoprotectants) before freezing. This will prevent the formation of ice crystals which could destroy the cell.” On her readiness for pregnancy, Owie noted: “We fertilized the eggs using a standard technique known as intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) to overcome the egg shell which normally gets hardened with freezing. “The fertilized egg was subsequently transferred into her womb, resulting in the pregnancy with Tiwa. She had her antenatal care in her family hospital and delivered the baby boy through Caesarian Section. “At The Bridge Clinic, we celebrate Tiwa’s birth as it is a further demonstration of our coming of age in the practice of assisted reproductive technology. It is a show of the sum of our strengths — our people, our process and our infrastructure. It demonstrates our commitment to global best practices which ensures that our offerings are in tandem with what is obtainable in the developed world, both in variety and in quality.” Recommendation Noting that the baby and his mother are in good health, Owie said egg freezing was particularly recommended for women diagnosed with cancer, who may lose their fertility during chemotherapy; women with a family history of early menopause; women with objections to storing frozen embryos for religious and/or moral reasons; and women who want to delay child-bearing in order to pursue some personal goals. He said: “This offering is being delivered to many women in the developed world and is now being offered in Nigeria at a cost more affordable than what is obtained abroad. We encourage women who need this service to come up and have their eggs cryopreserved.” Also speaking, Coordinator, Corporate Communications & Customer Client Relations, The Bridge Clinic, Dr Dayo Omogbehin, stated: “We are the first in-vitro fertilization (IVF) centre in Nigeria to achieve this success. It is great news for the family and fertility health research in the country and world at large.” How it works On how egg freezing works, Omogbehin said although sperm and embryos had proved easy to freeze, the egg was the largest cell in the human body and contains a large amount of water. He said: “When frozen, ice crystals form that can destroy the cell. We must dehydrate the egg and replace the water with an ‘anti-freeze’ prior to freezing in order to prevent ice crystal formation. “We also learned that because the shell of the egg hardens when frozen, sperm must be injected with a needle to fertilize the egg using a standard technique known as Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection..

Hi dear

We as your sisters will keep you in our prayers. Philippians 4:6-7: Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. The great thing about this platform is that we are all sisters on a journey and we can support each other. I am also going through IVF and still have fears just like you but we praise the Most High and in His hands we will be okay.

*E-hug*

Hello house,

I'm starting my IVF treatment after battling unexplained infertility for almost two years. I've done 3 rounds of clomid without success and all clomid did to my cycle was to scatter it. Hubby's results are perfectly fine also.

My FS decided not to use puregon or menopur but has placed me on Gonal-F 125 and I'll start the antagonist injection (Cetrotide) on day 7 and the trigger will be ovridel (250ug/500ug). To say I'm scared of the injections is an understatement. Already had my bloods and abdominal scan done and my fertility nurse said my results looked excellent. It's all a bit daunting but with God on our side, all will be well. Really hoping for the best and praying my body system cooperates with the plenty medications.

Baby dust to everyone here.

@geeneva Hi my dear... I am fairly new to IVF but would highly recommend The Bridge Clinic. The undivided attention I have received since being a part of their family has been overwhelming. IVF procedure costs vary of course but I can say after such a strenuous journey of not being able to conceive after so long, I am excited and believe the best is yet to come. https://www.thebridgeclinic.com. I am so excited for you and what life changing things will happen to you and for your process. Baby dust unto you. God bless you!

My wife is presently using fusion nest. Their modus operandi is professional and they seem to know their onions. I asked about sex selection I think they said its an additional 700k to our IVF procedure

Romance / Re: Some Factors That May Affect A Woman's Fertility by jill28: 12:19pm On Oct 30, 2015
Thank you this is very insightful!
Timeless9ja:
Most people know that a woman's fertility decreases as she gets older, but even during her most fertile (and otherwise healthy) years, lifestyle choices and external factors can affect a woman's chances of having a healthy baby.

"Women who want to increase their chances of getting pregnant often don't know the best things to do or what to watch out for," says Francisco Arredondo, MD, a reproductive endocrinologist and fertility specialist in San Antonio, Texas. Here are some of factors that do (or don't) affect a woman's fertility, and what you can do about them if you are trying to conceive.

Being too thin

Just as excess body fat can impact fertility, so can not having enough of it. That may be because women who have very low BMIs are deficient in leptin, the hormone that controls hunger and feelings of satiety. Having low leptin contributes to the absence of menstrual periods, according to a 2009 Harvard University study. "Maintaining a healthy body weight—one that falls in the normal BMI range and that is reached through a healthy diet and moderate exercise—is one of the most important things a woman can do to increase her chances of getting pregnant," says Dr. Arredondo, who recently helped develop Conceivable, (free; iTunes) a new app aimed at helping women increase their chances of getting pregnant.

Getting older

When a woman reaches menopause, usually in her 40s or 50s, she no longer ovulates and is unable to get pregnant. But even in the decade or so before menopause officially occurs, she may experience fertility problems as her ovulation becomes less regular and her egg count declines—a time known as perimenopause.

There's no official age when fertility begins to take a dive, but many doctors say that it often becomes increasingly difficult to get pregnant after age 35. This age is different for every woman, though; some may go through perimenopause earlier, while others remain fertile through their - See more at:http://www.timeless9ja.com/2015/10/some-factors-that-may-affect-womans.html

Good day my dear. I want to start off by saying, you are in my prayers. I would advise a good clinic to assist you with what you are going through. Before my IVF cycle I was faced with the same situation. What I can tell you is that The Lord will let the rest of this year be better than all the preceding months put together for you. Don't lose hope.

I have been a silent reader and follower of all activities all these while and plz I need every1 to put my intentions in their prayer as my marriage will be 2yrs in Nov and I beg 4 a surprise anniversary gift. I knw God can do it. Sum months back I was introduced to a fertility clinic where the woman checked me with her hand and said I have blocked tube or womb, I was devastated and she told me to come for flushing after my hubby has done SFA test. I dnt knw what mamas in the house think of this. Thanx
