Hello people.

Question:
I need your various inputs on what to watch out for and what to do in order to put in a successful student’s visa application come January 2023.

Context:

My sister has been admitted to a designated learning institution in Calgary (SAIT) to study for a 2 year legal assistant/paralegal diploma to begin in September 2023. We have paid the tuition deposit and have a letter from the school already.

She has 2 siblings (my sister and I) who are permanent residents of Canada. We will be sponsoring her application, fees and every associated cost. She will be living with one of us and commuting to school as we both own homes in the Calgary area.

Will our proof of income, tax filings, pay slips, etc be sufficient to show that we can foot the bill? I don’t doubt that we can foot the bill.

My greatest concern is showing home ties. Let’s face it nobody is really planning to go back to Nigeria but since IRCC prefers lies, so be it. How do we do this? Considering that she’s a student and doesn’t have a formal job to return to after her studies (she does run a fashion outfit where she makes clothes but it’s largely informal and nothing registered), our parents are late and we have only one other siblings left in Nigeria (who is also going’s to be applying for PR soon).

Also, we did one “try your luck” sibling sponsorship application that is still being processed. How do we navigate this as well.

She is currently in 400L in uni., (whether she finishes the program or not is not a big deal). The prolonged ASUU strike caused us to start exploring this option. Is this something we should be disclosing on the application or just keep quiet about it since she would not have completed the degree at the time of application.

I’m looking for tips on what to include and not include in the application to make it a success.

Good day my people. House hunting has shown me pepper. I got an offer in Hamilton. Kai, one of those tall buildings (call me a Bush girl but I'm scared of it) . How is Hamilton. Are there jobs there? It's a one year lease so I'm worried about taking what might not work for me eventually. I need advise. I actually like Mississauga but can't meet their conditions for now
Maybe negotiate to put in a clause that allows you to do a lease transfer on favourable terms. In this hot rental market, you'll never be in short supply of someone willing to take over your lease if you decide to up and leave. Other than that, you should be fine. No need to be scared of tall buildings.

Baba easy o. People underestimate the cultural differences between most people born and raised here and people migrating as adults. It is not a joke and it is not an easy feat to come to the point where you are in sync with a person enough to marry them. Most interracial marriages that look proper to me usually involve people both born and raised here with difference just being skin colour.

So you'll find most Nigerian men naturally default to people that they're familiar with (Nigerians) or share some affinity with (other Africans)

There he goes again, Buttcrack joe, yapping all over the thread. At this stage, it's almost like you have a mental disease. That's aside from being unable to think critically. You'd need a lot of help figuring out how to even start with any measure of thinking whatsoever. If you knew any better, you'd realize that the OP had never posted anything earlier regarding difficulty searching for accommodation, a problem a lot more people would be willing to offer suggestions on There's no dearth of accommodation in Canada, especially not in Scarborough. But of course, you don't think, and could never have remotely arrived at that realization. Now, you have a hundred and one person telling you, yet your cuckoo yapping never stops. Must be quite a big mouth on you there. No wonder it fits nicely around your buttcrack, Buttcrack joe! Lol

You continue to confirm that when you made you first comment on this subject you had no context or frame of reference for that comment but being the idiot that you are, you made unfounded accusations disguised as a question.

Continue to enjoy your obsession with orifices and all, that’s your terrain. I no go drag am with you.

i am actually dumbfounded on how people will come online to look for free accommodation. Yes, the Visa Officers who ask to show POF know that you will eventually be sorted but want you to have some money(minimal) with which you will use to settle in.

We should do better, in my opinion.
How did you come to the conclusion that they’re looking for free accommodation? Can you show me anywhere in their post on this thread where they asked for free accommodation or you’re the one projecting this based on your perception of their request?

Guy, why this? Take that person in already.
I don't understand you. Someone comes here looking for someone to accomodate them. NOWHERE did they say they wanted free accomodation. An idiot, yes she's an idiot, then insinuates that they borrowed POF. I rebuke them for their unfounded insinuation and they double down while insulting me and I return their insult by just calling them an idiot (this is not a insult in fact because anyone who jumps to conclusions can be fittingly described as an idiot) and I'm the one you're coming after. Have you bothered to chastise them too?

And yes, I have no problem helping out random strangers. Thank you.

I take it that you didn't read her other post that I was responding to?

What happened to your POF? Abi na all those loans una collect?
For someone who sometimes appears to be logical and balanced in their writing, something is really amiss somewhere. I can't understand how asking for help gave rise to the insinuation (disguised as a question) that they borrowed their POF. There could be many explanations for this, but you chose the most cynical of them all.

Do you derive joy from making these cynical remarks against other people? Is this how you relate with others in your circle? Or you're just nasty behind a keyboard?

Whatever it is, you're exhibiting early stage signs of a sociopath, please look into some counselling.

I have made it clear to her mum, I have no intentions of marrying her daughter & we never for once even discussed US. We were simply just friends. Yes i know, sound so stupid of me, but that's just the truth. It just happened and I told the mother just that without mincing words. But she just kept saying BUT DID YOU SLEEP WITH HER YES OR NO? I felt terrible...
Whatever happens, just know you are not obligated to marry anyone because you got them pregnant. If you do, you will resent her forever.

I didn't say it was all made up. I was making the point it is grossly exaggerated. Getting those awards cost nothing besides being very visible on Linkedin and encouraging a few people to fill out nomination forms for you. Go and look on her Linkedin. Most of her "success stories" are written by her herself. I haven't even researched that. If I do, I'm sure to dig up some more lies.
20,000 is too much of an exaggeration to be a lie. That's not even an exaggeration anymore, but a plain lie. And yeah, I'm not saying she hasn't helped a few people, but this is clearly fake it till you make it. And as I said, it looks like she's a little bit on the making-it side now.

Some of us don't agree with you often but this one is spot on. The results are grossly exaggerated to the point that it is a plain lie.

That apart, the field of business analysis is very dynamic and can be a hit or miss. Add on top of that, that there are many variables that can impact a person getting a job. Thus, it can be dubious to claim that one specific thing was what helped a person land a role.

I remember like yesterday when you started this thread. I am happy to read of your progress.

When you started this thread, I was staunchly team "we build Nigeria", but things have changed. Made it out in 2020 to Canada, and God has been so kind to me since I touched down in this country.

Wishing you continuous success and hoping to read more detailed updates soon (though seeing as you're RN now, I'm not sure we'll be seeing you at all)

You will advise people wrongly and make them bite their finger when they finally land. Your argument is not robust.
It's a basic rule of thumb when settling in another country for the first time, take much food stuffs with you to mitigate bills and sustainance for a while until one finds strong footing.
Don't waste your words. This moniker has a history. Most regulars here don't take them seriously.

Seniors in the house. I have a question that needs clarification.

I am almost done with my pgde and the opportunity to request for transcript and my certificate for the pgde program can't be earlier than the first two months of 2023.

The question is, can I pay for WES ECA now, get EKSU (where I did my 1st degree) to send my transcript and then in early 2023 when I finish my pgde I add my pgde certificate without an additional cost?

The reason for trying to take this step is that EKSU is Notorious for this transcript issue and I don't want them to delay me

Thank you.

I have a sure trascript plug for EKSU, this woman is almost unbelievable. I've been using her since 2019 and not one disappointment. PM me for her contact

Good day all, please I need a candid advice, for lawyers in the house, what kind of jobs can lawyers apply for while waiting to be licensed in Canada? I would appreciate if I could get a link to hook up with other Lawyers practicing in Canada to get more information as regards this.
Thank you.

Lawyer here. There are many things a lawyer can do in Canada while waiting for licensing. The traditional pathway is to look for jobs as/in:

Legal Assistant/Law Clerks
Paralegal
Admin Assistant
Contract Specialist
Procurement Specialist
Court and Client Rep. (In Ontario) (think of this as a court registrar role)
Adjudicators in Admin. Tribunals
AML and compliance
Legal operations/risk officers
Trust and Estate practitioners

Some of these roles might require you to take short certification courses to get you up to speed. For instance in Alberta, the chances that you'll get a Corporate Paralegal role are seriously enhanced if you take and pass the Corporate Registry System exams Levels 1 to 3.

Research and curiousity are the key.

Must be AB. IS that the only province that has these automatic ticketing machines?

You or your friend should visit Montreal. Naija crase never reach anywhere. In St.John's, the police will stop you.

Calgary police mad gan. One weekend people in my WhatsApp group were just reporting speeding ticket, left right and centre. Some ticket wey you go get na straight licence suspension and they’ll tow your car and keep it for seven days.

There are consequences in this country and everybody maintain their lane because of that.

You might be right anyways, but that's me for you broda! I find it EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to convict anyone on the basis of a one-sided story (i.e. not hearing the other party narrate his own side. the law calls it 'the right to fair hearing').

In instances like this, I begin to find ways of making a 'probable excuse', and a lot of "perhaps this..", "perhaps that..." etc. sweeps through my mind. For now, it remains a one sided story, and there are two sides to every coin.

How are we even sure the husby is fine where he is? Is it not possible the man is in coma somewhere in Nigeria or under kidnapper's den (God forbid), and we are all here making speculations that he has left his spouse behind, and traveled to Canada? grin

There are situations where you make excuses and situations where you don’t. The wife has said her husband travelled to Canada with her travel documents, why are you doubting her story by considering probabilities that have no logical leg to stand on?

Wanting to give benefit of doubt does not mean cooking up wild theories like this kidnapper story under the guise of “what if”. You don’t have to condemn him but you don’t have to disbelieve her and poke unfounded holes in her story either. You will be doing the very same thing you wish to avoid: judgment without information.

I have not in any way exonerated the husband's retaliation. If anything, the joy that comes with a PR is enough to even make both of them dance away whatever grudge has been held.
You’re excusing bas behaviour. Period.

Disagree. Fear of the government isn't what makes the system work, it is that more people want the system to work than want to cheat the system. The key is in the person that reported the violation - "one passerby".

The difference between the Nigerian and Canadian passerby isn't fear, it's that the Nigerian passerby doesn't care ... he is the one who excuses violations with "na who holy pass"... the Canadian passerby cares about following the rules that he is willing to take time out of his day to call in the violation. He didn't have to, he chose to...

Baba, it is the fear of government o. Fear of consequences. When you receive $600 fine for failing to stop at red light, nobody will teach you have sense. You touch person in a confrontation lasan, assault charges straight, criminal record and your life is ruined.
