I got an opportunity to work in South Korea for at least the next 5 years, which means I'll be leaving Canada. I still don't know how the vacation will be structured and whether it will allow me spend enough time in Canada to renew my PR. For now, I have only stayed approx 2 years in Canada in the past 4 years, but should be leaving for South Korea in the next couple of months. How can one handle a situation like this so that they can still renew their PR? Maybe it's better to turn such an offer down? I heard if I get married to a Canadian I can live anywhere while my PR counts towards citizenship. Is this correct?
If you've lived in Canada for 2 complete years then you'd be able to renew your PR status without hassle:

"To keep your permanent resident status, you must have been in Canada for at least 730 days during the last five years. These 730 days don’t need to be continuous."

Your advice may be the best way forward for this situation. But we can give advice without rubbing salt to injury. Let's just be abit kinder. Some times it's not that ppl are not truthful, it may be just be them following the advice of someone they trust or circumstance change.

If you check the commitments for all the parties on their various websites , they all have plan for immigration. The truth is Canada doesn’t even have a choice, our economy needs immigration. The only person that was against immigration and was vocal about it is the leader of PPC and he lost his only seat in the parliament during the last election. I’m not sure he’s even contesting again because I don’t see him when I watch the news. Generally, people (including me) also believe the Conservatives don’t like immigration but the truth is that they were the ones that started express entry in 2015, the Liberals just decided to work on it better by reducing CRS, thereby making more people eligible. I think Trudeau will win again sha. I’m just hoping for the best
I think JT will win but the Liberals will not win enough seats to form a majority government. He will have to collaborate with Singh's NDP to form a government.

Lol it's normal for new arrivals to be below the poverty line. Because they'll work with your last year's taxes. And by the time you convert that money you earned in Nigeria that you thought was big, you'll find yourself getting referrals to food banks in Canada.

Hello everyone. I intend travelling to Canada soon with my 3 dependant kids aged 7, 6 and 4.... without my spouse.
I know it's not going to be easy as a single parent. I'd appreciate the input of nairalanders living in Canada.
Can I cope without my spouse over there?
Please help a confused sister.

I got laid off from my job today in Winnipeg for not performing COVID screening check before entering work. It’s been a hard one gathering myself together as I’ve put all my hope in it.

Please can someone help me with referral for a job in an organization. I am available for available job roles. From casual jobs to co-operate to healthcare.

I’ve got my checks and first aid/CPR. I am available to work remotely too.
I'm so sorry to hear this. Don't think about it too much, it is just a passing phase. Wishing you all the best in the future.

If you're up for work in customer service, try to apply to Concentrix for a work from home role, they're always recruiting.

good morning good people. I have an uncle who is now a citizen of Canada who can take care of me in Canada. do I still need proof of fund that high.
Let me use this opportunity to clarify something for people who have family and friends in Canada and are hoping on them for care and support. Get it out of your mind! It doesn't work that way. Come with your own plans for sustenance. If you receive the kindness of friends and family members, fine but come prepared.

Hi guys, Please can I get advice from anyone about Proof of Funds for a Master's Degree. If someone is supporting me with the $10,000cad and I will be supporting myself with the rest of the tuition fees can this $10k be transferred into my account or this is going to be a red flag when applying for a visa? What is the best way I can be able to go about it without getting a red flag when applying for a visa. Thanks
Should ask this in the students visa thread I guess.

Hi Guys,
Trust we all doing well.

How do I get my driving records? I just wrote my class 7 knowledge test and was told at the registry in Calgary I will need to provide my driving record before my license can be processed further because the driver licence I have is expired. Can I get the driving records from Nigerian mission in Canada?

I assume you're trying to get an exemption so you can attempt the road test without waiting a year. If so, reach out to cb.okoye@frsc.gov.ng, they should be able to provide your driving record electronically for a fee.

there is no need to send your law school transcript because it will be sent back . And your money will be refunded . I still in the process of CES as my evaluation is not yet out . But I decided to go for CES because we heard great testimonies about it being evaluated as a professional degree and iqas was delaying . So if iqas is still delaying you can join the queue and try CES with us
Wow. Finally there's an alternative to proud, pompous and inefficient IQAS!
