Are the children all grown? If they're still growing children then I'll suggest you wait. Some children tend to have some genes masked during childhood and as they grow, they develop into their full phenotypes and might look different from how they appeared during childhood. So, it's possible that one or more of the children could resemble you when they're fully grown.

All state governors in Nigeria--especially those of them from south west, need to come to Enugu and understudy how Peter Mbah is handling insecurity in the state!

By investing in top grade security devices like drones and other gadgets, Mbah has shown that handling insecurity is not a rocket science afterall. Now as I type, the Enugu state police command have drones monitoring all the nooks and crannies of the state such that they readily detect potential and actual security threats and watch criminals even in their hideouts.

The distress response squad is on ground everywhere in the state and once they receive signals from the command and control centre, they swing into action immediately to track down and arrest those criminals. I think other states should borrow a leaf from Enugu so we can tackle security challenges in the country once and for all.

This is the trend among ladies nowadays! They expect their men to provide for the family just as it was done by our forefathers but on their parts, they want to do away with their own roles in the family as wives and mothers. Please, as we prepare to vote next year, it is important for people to know that election has consequences and that as a poor man on the street, that your tribesman you want to vote for just for tribal reasons will not save you from hunger, insecurity, health challenges etc that might follow from sheepishly voting on tribal grounds.

This is why birthing your own offsprings is very important because your offsprings are mini you carrying a good number of your genes. If your linage continues, so will your genes linger on earth.

So, in anything you do, try and reproduce your genes before your death comes. My people have a saying that those who died without having children died with both eyes while those who had children before death died with only one eye.

Men face pressure too

In fact, men face more external pressure to get married than ladies. Ladies face pressure mainly from biological clock. Before I met my fiancee, I faced so much pressure from my family, especially my mum. To her, I was a lost course and an object of pity because I was yet to be married. This is despite my constant reassurances to her that I'll get married soon. You needed to see how elated she was on the day of my introduction.

The lifestyle differences between the majority Muslim north and majority Christian south tilt the balance of growth in favour of the Muslims. With the manner southerners are speedily adopting the western lifestyles while the Muslim northerners retain their conservatism, the southerners are gradually declining in population while the northerners are growing.

This disparity in population growth rate would overtime result in a conspicuous domination of the country by the Muslims. In fact, I'm seeing the southerners going extinct in no distant time if the current trend is sustained. So, all the Muslims need is to sustain their conservative culture while encouraging the western lifestyles of the south. So, they don't even need to fight for "Islamization". It'll happen naturally!

More southern youths are shunning marriage and procreation while others are leaving the country and transferring their lineages abroad. With the poor healthcare system and the hardships in the country, the Christian population is bound to continually decline.

The saving grace would have been to divide the country along religious lines so that the Christian south can manage themselves. In a country of their own, they'll take full responsibility of creating an environment that would sustain their population at least for a longer time. They'll be able to create a sound healthcare system, topnotch science and tech education, social amenities and a thriving economy. With the above in place, they can be sure of maintaining their population for longer generations.

This is not true! House rent in Enugu recently rose astronomically and many people are already pressuring government to checkmate the landlords and house agents. So, no landlord would raise house rent above what it is currently. I have stated it here that the main driving forces that lead to increased costs of living are increase in fuel prices, exchange rate of naira vs dollar and maybe increase in government taxes. The meagre increase in minimum wage has little to no effects on cost of living.

Government should either increase minimum wage to at least 300k or make civil service jobs part-time so workers only go to work 2 times a week and use the rest of the week to do other things that can put more money in their pockets. Workers are really suffering now.

This is what pisses me off about women! Ok. The biggest hurdle yet faced. And it’s a very sad one because I don’t know how to deal with this.

When we moved in together, we started actively trying to get pregnant. I’m 33 so I know that time was going. He was always saying we will have children and I should relax but 6 months into tracking ovulation and actively getting into action without any positive tests I knew I had to talk to my doc. I know a lot of pple that waited for a year only to find out they had medical conditions to deal with preventing conception. Even though we were not actively trying, I never used contraceptive and we never used protection. I ran my own STI checks after we got married (silly I know) but it turned out good and there were no issues. So I just felt of course, when we start living together things should happen naturally. I started taking a lot of supplements and prenatals and my husband said he is not sure why but we will have children and I should calm down. That at least he also needed a job. My parents are already asking that we should start our family. His mum was also saying we should do fast.

About 3 months ago, I spoke to my doctor and got a referral. Here you need a referral to speak to specialists and you can’t just walk up to demand for any tests from the lab. I got the referral to a fertility clinic. I genuinely went there thinking it was my age or maybe I just needed meds or supplement and what not. They referred us both for a full fertility work up. My husband felt uncomfortable and said our matter is not a fertility clinic matter and I need to calm down. I insisted that I know but I would just like to know more based on medical assessments. My husband f followed me, even through the sono hsg. We ran all the blood tests. The results came in 2 weeks ago.

Yea, I was fine. Hormones were working as they should, tubes were opened, and ovulation was happening. For him, we did an SA to know counts volume etc. the doc said, unfortunately it was a really low count and honestly we stood almost little to no chance of natural conception without medical intervention. Only IVF. According to him, not even IUI would help because they would need to search out what is viable and use for the procedure. I sat there confused and very very weak.


We left there and I was numb. Weak. Pained. My husband was asking why I was so downcast and I had no words. He said but at least there is a way out and I should please not have high Bp. I didn’t know what to do or not to do. I got home and cried so so much. Because this marriage thing seems like a lot. I cried and cried.

I don’t know how men process difficult information but my husband didn’t want to talk about it. I left him. He just kept going on like nothing had happened. When we finally were able to talk, he said he cannot be sad or depressed over a situation he can’t control. That on the brighter side, there is a way out. I grieved. Knowing that what would happen effortlessly for others now needed medical intervention. Knowing the emotional and psychological effects of this unknown journey. Knowing this information is not even something I can talk to anyone close to me about.


He got a job offer a few days after that news. A job offer that would take him away to a new city (4hrs flight). Good news. But again, we would be apart. Sigh.

I don’t know but I have made a lot of crazy decisions since that info. I just got tired. I quit one of my jobs last week. The job had been a drag and I had to let it go. At this point maybe I deserve all I’m going through but I also know I am very tired. I did my research and ordered supplements that I know may help him. And I had to have the long talk about why he needed to take them. He was reluctant and said it was too many meds. I begged. Pleaded. Even if we had to go the ivf route maybe we can improve the quality of what we have. I’m not going to get younger. It’s been a whole lot. He finally agreed but told me not to follow up that he will take them. Financially we are not even ready for any medical procedure and mentally I don’t even know if I am ok.


I get lost in thoughts. Why is this the way marriage is for me? Was this even worth it? I cannot talk to anyone. Not the pastors. Not my parents. Not my friends. I know having kids is not all that’s about marriage, but I also know that I want them. But we have bigger issues here and it’s beyond kids. I just don’t know if marriage has served me up to this point. In my very mid 30s so I also don’t know what the future holds. Sigh. I’m just tired.

If truly he has problem with his sperm count, then that's not a huge problem to deal with. Unless a man is sterile which is a rare condition, fertility challenges in men are easy to deal with. Money looses more value the new minimum wage buys less goods and services compared to the old one.
The ₦200,000 minimum wage you are demanding will not be able to buy what the ₦70,000 current minimum wage can. Countries with the best minimum wages earns between 500 and 2,000 I there local currencies and not 200k you are demanding for.

With the current cost of living, government has no choice than to increase minimum wage to 200k unless they would agree that civil service would become a part-time job such that workers would not dedicate all their time to working for government. They can work for 2-3 days in a week and use the rest of their time to earn their livelihood.

I initially cited instances of the astronomical increase in house rent in my state of Enugu where rent rose from 300k to 1.5M for 3-bedroom flat. That's just house rent o. Minimum wage should reflect such proportion of increase in living costs in other for the civil servants to survive and give their best. If government cannot increase minimum wage to reflect the current cost of living then they should consider my suggestion above. If government fails to do either of the above, then sooner than later, civil servants would stop paying much attention to their work but look for alternative means of survival.
