She should have just gone for foundation programme and try to up her knowledge before applying. This is why they insist that we go through foundational courses before being licenced to practice over there.

Having gone through this woman's CV, she actually qualified as a dietitian and also has some job experiences that should have enabled her fit into the position she was employed into. However, her not being able to demonstrate knowledge at even rudimental levels is where the question arises. Things like the position of the small intestine (and even the alimentary canal generally) are stuff we learnt even at secondary school level.

It's people like this that put the rest of us in bad lights and cause the western countries to subject us to extra scrutiny when we're applying to get into their healthcare systems as professionals. Most are understaffed and they don't even allow the few available hands to render proper care to patients. Take for instance, the concept of Pharmaceutical care which many Nigerian hospitals are yet to incorporate into patients care. This makes patients not to get maximum benefits from their drug therapy, suffer from avoidable adverse drug events and spend more money than they should on their medications.

Government needs to enforce pharmaceutical care in our hospitals because it'll help improve overall patients care.
