When government tries to put the medical practitioners in checks, both nurses and doctors, they will all flood the streets by joining forces with gullible Nigerians with placards by insulting the government. This is what you all get when sentiments and emotions evades the minds of people to shy away from the truth.
Government shouldn't listen to anyone in situations like that, rather they should go ahead and do what ought to be done. Like in this case at hand, I expect the government to get involved and ensure the doctors involved face the full weight of the law. That way, others would sit up!

Another way government can help restore confidence in our health sector is to ensure that these doctors don't have monopoly of our hospitals! Take for instance, the issue of doctor of Pharmacy that is being practiced even in Ghana, Nigerian doctors appear to have problems with it even when it is clear that the idea is to ensure that patients get the best in their drug therapy and that it does not in any way amount to usurping doctors' jobs, yet some Nigerian doctors are fighting it. Government has to insist in ensuring that the practice takes full effects in Nigeria.

Assuming for instance you have a learned clinical pharmacist in the team managing a patient, he or she could be the one that makes the input that would eventually save the patient from dying, especially as regards drug therapy or use of anaesthetics. We all complain of situations where doctors administer a drug and patients died or their conditions worsen. Such scenarios could be avoided if clinical pharmacists got fully involved in patients management in the aspect of drug therapy.

Why have you conditioned your mind to believe that all men cheat It's unfortunate that many ladies now go with the believe that every man must cheat on them. That's not true!

This is what someone replied on my comment.

"Whilst not excusing the doctor in this particular case, a lot of Nigerians act like people don't die overseas. Meanwhile, medical errors account for 9.5% of all deaths in the U.S. each year.

According to a study by Johns Hopkins, more than 250,000 deaths every year are due to medical malpractice. This staggering figure makes medical malpractice the third leading cause of death in the United States, behind heart disease and cancer."
Just 9.5%, in Nigeria death due to medical negligence could account for up to 60% of all deaths! And while the doctors in America are receptive of ideas that can help curtail such deaths like working in teams comprising different healthcare Professionals, Nigerian doctors would not allow such due to their unnecessary insecurities

I'm so particular about some comments here

Like things also don't go out of hand abroad or people over there can't be agile now and the next minute they're gone ?

They can be agile and die by accidents, not by being administered the wrong drugs by doctors! Medical negligence is a very big problem in Nigeria! The worst is that they happen without the doctors being held accountable! Honestly, if proper investigations are carried out in all deaths, it'll be discovered that many die avoidable deaths due to Medical negligence and incompetence.

Make una dey calm down biko.
Yet our doctors are sorted after all over d world.
So, what are you trying to imply? That an obvious case of medical negligence should be swept under the carpet?

Truth is that Nigerian doctors practicing in Nigeria are mostly evil with overblown ego even while they continually send many Nigerians to their early graves.

Government need to put measures in place to curtail the high-handedness of these doctors in our hospitals. The laws need to be activated to check medical negligence in the country!

This is really heartbreaking.

This is why some of us keep lamenting about our messed up healthcare sector.
Nigerian doctors have this attitude of feeling that they know it all, yet everyday they keep slaughtering Nigerians on the alter of sheer ignorance and negligence.

Many other Nigerians have been killed by doctors just like Rebecca but the government would rather look away than putting measures in place to ensure that these unscrupulous doctors don't go scot-free when a patient dies as a result of their negligence. It's good that Rebecca's dad has vowed to seek justice for her beloved daughter. Many other Nigerians would rather keep quiet even when it is obvious that the doctors' negligence and incompetence killed their loved ones.

I pray justice gets served in this matter.

May Rebecca's soul rest in perfect peace and may God console her family for this loss....Amen

Why is the black man so full of evil
I'm very sure this woman has suffered so much mockery from Yoruba haters like this op who hate her just for being Igbo.

Many of you would complain of racism when you go to the white man's land or xenophobia from South Africans, but back home in your own country, you're even worse in discriminating against your country men on account of tribes and even within same tribe, some of you still discriminate against your own people!

We want them to be frustrated!

The same gender that would claim they are single and happy are the ones ranting about how men should be arrested for not marrying!

Op, men were not created to care for you. If you don't double your hustle to care for yourself, you'll suffer double tragedy of being miserably poor and also unmarried. Better go and hustle!

Look at most organizations in Nigeria, they tend to employ more women these days than men, which leaves many eligible guys without jobs! It is bad enough that ladies are taking up jobs meant for guys, but it becomes worse when same unemployed guys are pressured about marriage. Can't work!

Very true!

Any lady in her 30s who has not built her own house, bought a good ride and married with kids is a big time failure and should better look for sniper and end it all.

What stopped her from working harder to make it like other real women If not that she was busy jumping from one man to another and depending on urgent 2k from men in her early years, she would have probably made it big like real women.

Don't mind those wicked private business owners that pay their workers peanuts and expect them not to resort to stealing to augment the poor pay.

Private business owners in Nigeria reflect how evil a black man can be to his kind. Somebody who's generating millions of naira every month for you yet you have the heart to pay him/her such meagre salary.

I usually laugh out loud when I hear or read some guys claiming that their girlfriend loves them. Only naive boys make such delusional claims. No woman really loves a man! It is all about what they can benefit from him-- either his fine face to boast to her friends about or his money to satisfy her cravings for material comfort.

This is why no reasonable man should place his wife above his mom or even his siblings! Your mom and siblings would love and be by your side through thick and thin, but your wife can dump you at anytime especially when you have problems with your finances. The wise men already know this but simps will not hear until they get burnt.

Romance / Re: Since We Moved To The UK, I’m No Longer Attracted To My Husband - Nigeria Lady by Jman06(m): 6:42pm On Feb 19

It's the western society that conquers them, absolutely nothing to do with the woman.
But women are the beneficiaries of such conquering since it gives them power over the man such that they become the men of the house while their husbands are relegated to the position of wife of the house so to say, a kind of reversal of what obtains in marriages here in Nigeria.
Romance / Re: Since We Moved To The UK, I’m No Longer Attracted To My Husband - Nigeria Lady by Jman06(m): 5:32pm On Feb 19
1Sharon:
It's like moving to the UK ends up turning off Nigerian women from their husbands.

In Nigeria, their husbands were in their element and were somebody in society.

They come to the UK and the men end up being out of their depth, being unemployed and having to job hunt, sharing house chores and childcare. They go from king of the jungle to conquered house mouse.

All these can end up being a turn off to their wives.

Well.
Why would you conquer them and start disliking them at the same time? One would think that your conquering him with all the powers you now enjoy in your new environment would make you happy so you live in peace with him, but alas you'll still be the one to despise him. This is why we say that women are confused humans!

I blame those ladies who think that being a " brother in the Lord" makes a man good, forgetting that there are many good men who have given up going to church because of evil pastors like this who hide under the shadow of Christianity to commit all manner of abomination.

This is why I hate any lady that goes to the so called pastors for everything. Infact, the moment I discover that a lady reveres her pastor, I get turned off. Some of these ladies would go to pastor for the slightest of things that happen in their lives. A guy toasts her, the pastor must hear it. Let alone when the guy seeks to marry her, it's so so pastor this pastor that. It annoys me so much! These ladies submit their minds to pastor who use them to play ping pong like they're mor0ns.

Some ladies have missed out on marrying a good man because of some false prophesy by these devils in suit. They'll mislead the ladies and later have them married to the men they choose for their selfish gains. Pastors are the worst people to seek marital counseling from. They have destroyed many homes and prevented many ladies from getting married!

This incident reminds me of one pastor Basil Princewill in one penterascal church like that at Nyanya Abuja, who raped one of the female members of his church who happened to be a minor! The first time I went to his church, I knew he was a scam. Not long after going there, he was arrested and the news was all over the place. Don't know if that fraudster has been released.
