Binghamton University has announced the death of a student-athlete, Nigerian-born basketball player, Calistus Anyichie.

He was said to have died in a drowning accident.

On its verified Twitter handle, the university mourned the 19-year-old, who was a member of the men’s basketball team and majored in political science.

The President of the university, Harvey Stenger, in a public statement said, “A talented young person has been tragically taken from us. This is a heartbreaking loss for our community. We will do all that we can to be there for his family, for the team and everyone who knew Calistus.”
Director of Athletics at the university, Patrick Elliott, said, “We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Calistus.

“Calistus was a bright and engaging young man with an infectious smile. He loved his academic studies at Binghamton and embodied the exceptional spirit of being a student-athlete at our university.

“This is a heartbreaking tragedy. Our sincere condolences go out to his family, teammates and fellow student-athletes.”

To be factual, Nigerians have no regards for soldiers and I dislike it. Our military is our pride.

And these claims that soldier beat someone are usually one-sided stories.

Truth is too many Nigerians behave like zoo inmates. Unfortunately, soldiers have no chill for yeye behavior and that's why they get pissed off when people do stvpid acts to them.

Imagine a wheyrey onile man in Lagos sold the same land to five people. He tried it with a soldier and that one literally cooked his balls (as I heard). Who's to blame?

Soldiers don't look for trouble. It is civilians that should avoid crossing their lanes and learn to obey SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS.

Soldiers are the easiest people to live with; dey your dey, they dey their dey. If you must cross their lane then be ready to follow simple and clear instructions.

Every allowance coming from the FG is either cut in half or totally blocked by our generals dem. The Naval officers have also learned what syphoning is about,from the army. Soldiers hardly get there allowances paid in full. Not even there salaries. Going by the documented salary structure of the army, a PTE isnt suppose to be paid 48000 as basic salary. It's supposed to be way more than that. Every soldier on operation is entitled to his RCA. But today, even those is the front(Borno,Adamawa, etc)only get stipends. True, no organization in Nigeria is as strong and as corrupt as the Nigerian Military.

As for the men, it would only take the grace of God for dem not to get caught

First off, he is not a suegbe. The guy in question is a very good friend, and FYI he owns a reputable commercial law firm in Nigeria.

Second, lawyers don’t bring frivolous action. People don’t just sue the government if they don’t have a locus. Even if he does, has suing the government ever made a business sense or being effective?

You spend loads of money, and spend months/years pursuing a matter in court- to what end exactly?
