It's unfair to grade any present player beside Messi and Ronaldo wrt winning balon dor. Like I've always said, those two are anomaly in football. Before, if you get 30g/a, you're good to go. Dem Messi and Ronaldo boosted in to at least 50g/a, so now everything to go back to its normal order (aside the quality of football sha).

Before na eye test person dey use reason balon dor na why person like Nedved and Canavaro and Dinho fit win Balon dor and World best and most people will agree. Same eye test is what Vini is using as his CV for balon dor candidate so I don't understand the uproar

At all... Pep and his people don turn them to robots. You will watch Doku and Grealish and wonder if na the same ball Sanchez played, Dem dey play too.
Lol...All these issues are because of grassroots/academy levels

Most coaches now are saying the reason why we don't see good players again is because in the youth and grassroots level (and academy), most coaches there emphasizes more on strict tactics and positions instead of creativity. Imagine telling a 5yr old attacker not to dribble but he should be doing positional play and movement. How will such a player learn how to effectively beat his man consistently?
Everybody now is now doing system-system and robotic football and it's really killing the joy of the game. Imagine the dearth of good wingers who can't beat their players one on one in all the whole top leagues just because most of these players are being taught robotic football right from their foundation age .

It's really unfortunate.

This is Argentina coach Scaloni beautifully summarizing it. You can Imagine the reason why we have less and less dribblers/imaginative players and more Robotic players. It's the big reasons the kind of Sanchez, Hazard, Robben have gone into extinction. And if good Wingers are scarce like this, imagine how the imaginative/creative midfielders like them Fabregas and Ozil (creative passers) are getting into extinction and people like Mount are getting recognition. Na why people like Odegaard/Kdb are hot commodity.

If I were to pick from that list I would have certainly gone for Prime Cazorla.

Something like

Rice— Odegaard — Cazorla

They are just picking on Saka as a soft target .

Southgate is a terrible coach that is struggling to even identify his best 11 with plethora of talent at his disposal . They should address that first .

I don’t know how they being ex footballers cannot see that Southgate is the problem of the team and nothing else . Can’t they even see that England doesn’t even have a playing pattern ni ?
I just feel all of these ex players and pundits have a good soft spot for Southgate. Maybe personally he's a great guy thus he's In their good books cos I too can't understand how they can't see he's the problem.

The only two that have really been vocal are Shearer and Lineker. As for the rest, they're just beating around the bush. Let them tell him to fix playing style first and not just picking on one of their best players

The suggestion makes no sense . They should be blaming their useless coach who left good LB at home and pack right footed full backs to the tournament .

Their coach has mental problem but they don’t want to tell him 😂. Imagine playing Trippier as LB and when Trippier gba tire , he sub him for another RB and move Walker to LB .

So it is players like Saka that should pay for Southgate’s fooolishness ? There are so many talented LB playing in the EPL eligible to play for England whom the coach could’ve taken along with him na
That's my grouse here too.
He has Alfie doughty who he should have included due to his performance this season but he chose plenty Rb to play Lb. The pundits didn't caution him for it, but na prime innocent Saka should take the fall. No be say Saka na flop sef.

I swear I'm just angry here as Wright even suggested that. E pain me that such is coming from our own legend.

It's a short-term fix because England's left-hand side is dead. But then, why not Foden or Palmer since they're left-footers too?
The thing is since he's played there before, they felt he's the easy pick compared to Foden or Palmer. What they're failing to factor is the time he's being deployed there. Playing a player in a position that he's been played over 3 seasons ago and as a teenager when he last played there is a very big risk. And the worst part is that he just played there half a season sef(and never in an England setup this two different setups)

Secondly, deploying one of your best attackers as a full back (in his prime) to me is seen as an insult, not when there's available alternatives present (eg Gomez cos he's played there consistently this season). It's better and understandable if Saka is benched than to be deployed as a full back. I don't see any reason that's justified enough.
For example, no how Wales will play prime Bale as a full back cos of crisis issues even if there are quality Bale deputy. I just hope Southgate doesn't try such nonsense.

What's even annoying me is that Lb is not even the issue. Breaking down teams and attacking moves are. I just feel this is a herd mentality that's happening because Trippier is not a natural Lb thus Saka is the easy pick— First it started as a side talk in social media, then Ferdinand picked it up and now Wright is re-echoing it.

It's just crazy!!!

Here I was ystdy criticizing Ferdinand for suggesting Saka play at Lb only to read and see that Ian Wright (our Legend) just said exactly same thing hours ago. Not least in the Knockout stage

What's wrong with all these people? This is really really crazy.

I'm really disappointed Wright could say such a thing. I still don't understand how he could say such a thing. This is someone who haven't played there in over 3 seasons(and as a teenager for that matter playing it just only half a season). This is one of England's best attacker for that matter too.

Omorr, Wright really disappointed here big time. Big big time!!!

The problem England has is that they want Kane to score all the goals and yet instead of him to stay at CF, he keeps dropping deep into the hole that Bellingham and Foden loves to drift into and overcrowding it.

The line up is OK. It's the transition that has problems. If Kane wants to drop deep then either Saka or Foden should be making the late runs from the wing as inverted forwards. If Saka and Foden should stay compact then Kane should remain upfront so others can create for him. Then what's wrong if Bellingham joins Kane as second striker?

Na overhype dey worry this England team. When you start calling your dog Lion it will see leopard and go and challenge it.
