I will rate our team average when it comes to global football. We still have a long way to go. But I agree the situation now is better. There is more stability, but we need more hands in the technical department of the game, else we will not be able to maximize the strengths of our talents coming up.

charlesemeka85:
i remember when the lad was first invited, so many pple here cried and screamed to high heaven because rohr invited a bundesliga 2 player to the super eagles as if we have any playing in madrid or barca that was ignored.

my happiness is we have so much depth right now aside from the midfield department. at least we can boast of 2-3 decent players in a particular position which is very good for the team unlike before and thank God we have a coach who have the balls to stand up to some administrators in the nff in defense of picking players on merit not quota.

Gianfranco Zola gives verdict on Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham following Man Utd loss
By MATT PENN

PUBLISHED: 19:25, Mon, Aug 12, 2019 | UPDATED: 21:03, Mon, Aug 12, 2019

CHELSEA striker Tammy Abraham may find it hard to adjust to the Premier League, having played mostly Championship football throughout his career.
That’s according to Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola, who spoke to beIN Sports about the youngster’s future at the Blues.

Abraham was given the No 9 shirt in the summer after an impressive pre-season under new boss Frank Lampard.

Last season, the England Under-21 international spent the season on loan with Aston Villa and helped them get promoted.

When Lampard was appointed manager in July on a three-year deal, the former midfielder was quick to ensure that some of Chelsea’s younger players got their chance to break into the first team.

And Lampard decided that against Manchester United on the opening day of the season, he would start Abraham and Mason Mount.

Chelsea ultimately lost the game 4-0 after individual errors saw United capitalise on a noticeably inexperience Blues team.

Abraham did, though, hit the post in the opening 10 minutes of the game, before showing some good hold-up play moments for the remainder of his time on the pitch.

And Zola, who was assistant manager at Chelsea last season when Maurizio Sarri was in charge, believes Abraham will have to adjust to life in England’s top flight at first.

“Maybe in the beginning he might suffer because you know the difference from the Championship and the Premier League is huge,” he said.

“He will have to adapt but he has a lot of energy, he’s positive.

“I think in the end he will get to the level he needs to be.”

Zola also mentioned that Abraham would need better service from his team-mates, who in the Italian’s opinion, underperformed against United.

“But he will have to be supported more from the others, Pedro will have to produce more offensively and also all the others,” he added.

Chelsea come up against Liverpool next in the Super Cup final on Wednesday in Istanbul.

The west London side will be hoping to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they host Leicester at the weekend.

I will never fault Collin's invitation. We have been looking for a left back for years, not even one of us here could even recommend an inform natural left back.

komekn:
I don't think they were discovered as such by Rohr.

Osimhen was already given preferential treatment on past youthful glories. Onyekuru was invited but not given opportunity when he was tearing think up.

Collins was in Bundesliga 2 and average but invited.

Ebuehi was the only one that l think was actually given opportunity.

In reality there is s lot of background movements with NFF officials and agents pushing thier individual players forward.

Anybody who thinks that Rohr has total control and it's all about his soke decision then your in Delusion.

komekn sef.. some players are more popular and fan favorites.. not everyone can reason the same way.

komekn:
It's very early days.

We have people already comparing the clearly light weight Osimhen to the strong Imposing and dominating DROGBA that's being delusional.

KC scored a few goals in pre season and some one being Superdelusuional announced KC us back to form that's simply ludicrous.

I know we are fans and therefore fanatical but must we put our brains into the bin.

Let me help you. For Sheyi Ojo, I considered the strength of the opppsitions. However I still gave him a joint mention in the team with reasons already stated if u cared to read it before replying. So no need for the argument.
Ajayi and Osimhen are integral parts of Rohr’s team, based on the last preliminary list Rohr released. They are not SE hopefuls.
forgiveness:
Not bad based on their current performance but....

Why is Osimhen not in contention for the Striker position?

Samuel Eduok played as a LW not RW. Sheyi Ojo has scored 3 goals with 2 assist in 6 matches.

Is there any site that indicates that a player won MOTM in the Belgium Pro League?

What position did Semi Ajayi play this season?

To get the answers, you will need to slowly read my post that explains the logic behind the ratings, and this one you quoted.
If u are familiar with many best XI you would know that the formation can influence variations in player positions. It’s not always held strictly. And by the way didn’t I already say I had to sneak in Ojo’s name in there? Clear ur eye and read it again grin

Not even a starter

Sorry I didn’t clarify, place Agu on the left, and place Odubajo on the right while chima sits on the bench. Odubajo has been impressive for Sheffield Wednesday in the championship

odubajo has always been the least rated defender in his team. trust me ive looked closely at his stats.

is AGU primarily a LB?

Okoroji also made the team as LB
Felix Agu as RB
Or which Agu are you talking about?
ChrisKels:
Joebie please a lil corrections, why pick Chima ahead of Agu? Statistically, Agu had done better than Chima so far this season, in the same league and same number of minutes. Check their whoscored.com ratings per match, plus Agu already has an assist unlike Chima

Kelechi Nwakali hints at transfer after his brother confirms summer move
By Dan Critchlow - Aug 10, 2019

Kelechi Nwakali has hinted at a transfer on Instagram, after his brother confirmed he’d be leaving Arsenal on loan or permanently this summer.

Nwakali hinted at a summer transfer on Thursday, uploading a cryptic Instagram post captioned “movement” along with plane emojis and a picture of him and his suitcase.

The player’s brother and agent, Allwell Nwakali, told AllNigeriaSoccer this week: “I know Kelechi will leave Arsenal either on loan or a permanent deal, clubs are coming for him.

“By God’s grace I know we will be able to get a better club and a club that can play him each game, it’s not all about the money. He wants to go to a place where he’ll get the chance to play so he can showcase his talents, that’s what we want.”

Nwakali had been linked with a free transfer to SD Huesca earlier this month, despite still having a couple of years left on his Arsenal contract. However, Allwell also denied these reports in his interview.

The Nigerian midfielder spent last season on loan with Porto B, making 16 appearances in a rather inconsistent season. The 2018/19 campaign ended particularly disappointingly, as Nwakali was prevented from featuring in Porto’s final eight games after being barred from the country over a visa issue.

There were some positive moments as well though. It may have resulted in his visa issues, but Nwakali did get to make his debut for the Nigeria u23s in March.

Now he needs to find another good loan to get him senior international games and a work permit in England, or a permanent transfer if that doesn’t seem possible.

SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie:
This is my take on the Best SE HOPEFULS XI (Formation 4-2-3-1) so far, considering all league/UEFA competitions this 2019/2020 season:

REASONS:
1. David Okereke makes the cut as the undisputed best forward, scoring 4 goals after 4 games (Champions League qualifier inclusive) for Club Brugge. Chuba Akpom was in contention for the sole center-forward position scoring against Ajax in UEFA Champions League qualification.

2. Samuel Eduok, Ebere Eze and Abduljalil Ajagun all make the cut in the advanced midfield position. All three players have recorded at least a goal and an assist in their campaign so far, except Eze who added an MOTM performance this week, to the goal he scored in the previous round. Sheyi Ojo gets joint mention with Eduok. Although it can be argued that Eduok has been more impressive with stats of 2 goals and 2 assists in only 2 games, other may counter with reason that the Scottish League is rated higher than the Croatian league based on UEFA's coefficient for season 2018/2019. Hence, I have smuggled Ojo's name in as a joint mention, considering his goals in UEFA qualification against clubs from lowly Gibraltar and Luxembourg, and not forgetting his more important goal for Rangers in the weekend.
Dennis Bonaventure, Osayi-Samuel, and Chidera Ejuke were also in contention.

3. Joe Aribo makes the team as the best CM so far. He beat Aneke to it despite the fact that the latter scored a goal in his only game so far this season. Aribo has more games under his belt so far this season and has been more impressive as a CM scoring 3 goals in UEFA qualifiers against teams from Gibraltar, Luxembourg and Denmark. However, if Aneke gets more minutes and impressive stats in the Championship he could knock Aribo off in subsequent rounds. Let's wait and see.

4. Anderson Esiti gets my nod as the stand-alone DM. Although playing in a league ranked 20 according to UEFA, his only game so far this season was the 2-2 draw recorded against a big weight team, Ajax, in a UEFA Champions league qualifier. Luke Amos, who has started all games for QPR in the Championship so far, was in contention for the DM role.

5. Chima Okoroji (LB clocked 180 mins), Tosin Adarabioyo (clocked 90 mins), and Felix Agu (clocked 180 mins with 1 assist), and Junior Pius completes the back-line. Pius, who only played a 25 minutes part Antwerp's 1-0 win over Czech's Plzn in Europa League qualification, no thanks to a knee injury he picked up, edged out Fikayo Tomori for the other CB role. Tomori only made the bench in Chelsea's loss to ManU. Despite the fact that Moses Odubajo (RB) has clocked 180 mins for Sheffield Wednesday, he was edged out by Felix Agu who has an assist to his credit. Gorica's Musa Muhammed (RB) was also in contention.

6. My best XI is lacking a keeper for obvious reasons. David Nwokolor has only made Rijeka's bench once after 5 games this season. Sabastian Osigwe has allowed 8 goals after 4 starts, playing in the Swiss second tier. He has 2 shut-outs though, but still not worthy to be named here. Alampasu is with Feirense U23 (lack of data). Any home based we can recommend?

Feel free to debate my post or make suggestions.

Second tier leagues compete in Europa League via the Domestic cup. It's not an excuse.

The second tier leagues do not compete in UEFA competitions. That's the basis for the rankings in the first place.

forgiveness:
UEFA ranking is the authoritative yardstick else these second divisions would have been ranked.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 7:03pm On Aug 11, 2019
I agree, but there is no authoritative yardstick, as I already said in my original post. So it's all subjective.

forgiveness:
You can not say the Scottish league is in the same level with Seria B vice versa but it doesn't stop us from considering players from Championship.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:58pm On Aug 11, 2019
So we shouldn't consider players that play in the Championship and Bundesliga II then.
Or how would you have rated them?
forgiveness:
Sorry, I just understood your point after I saw your other posts but I don't agree with rating those second divisions with the main leagues.
