My reservation is on Samu. IF Samu replicates his club form in the SE will that be instrumental in our AFCON exploits? Or are u just judging the player by his age? If Samu was 27, would he be good enough for AFCON then? AIG07: when did improving/developing a player becomes the job of a national team coach. The NT is not a grooming center. That's why I am not in support of Samu joining the team for AFCON when there are options of playing for the age grade teams(where grooming takes place).
Players are invited to the national team to replicate their club performances. It's either you deliver or you are out. These set of players are even lucky. Imagine If Obagoal, had received half of the repeated chances given to nacho and Ighalo to redeem themselves. I bet you he would have been our second all time goal scorer just behind Yeking. Nacho and Ighalo have enjoyed a very rare grace. Just think of it. They both went 1year as Eagle's striker without a goal. Yet they were always the first on the list.
How many days do the players spend with these coaches when on national assignments. So cut Rohr{though not fan of his) some slack.
If we are to go by your claim, it is better he stay out of the national team till the time Rohr sees out his contract. |

Does this apply to only Iheanacho, Nigerian players playing for a good coach, or all Nigerian players for that matter? TheGoodJoe: Leicester City is a far improved team. Rodgers is getting them up to speed fast. This shows the players are getting better. However, when a player is on the bench, a lot of people misunderstand it as the player is not improving.
However, Nacho is training with the team and a mountain load of work is going on in the Leicester City camp and it would be close to impossible that Nacho is not working hard to get up to speed with the team.
Nacho is at a fantastic place now under the tutelage of a man who knows his way around a football pitch. He just needs to stay focus and keep listening. As long as he works hard, the reward will come. |

Even the Bible say God dey discipline Him children well well. You discipline who you love. You can’t pet someone to stardom. If he is going to rise above this, he has go through it and be determined fight back. by calling a spade a spade that na discipline. Hyping players can’t help ‘em. safarigirl: Nothing like die hard. Anyone who truly loves a player should be able to call him out when his career is dwindling thanks to his mistakes.
I no fit siddon dey deceive myself say hope dey, because a t stands, the future is bleak and Kelechi is the only one that can shine torch in this darkness, so, if he has to stumble, fall, get knocked over, for him to on that torch, make e stumble. Giving him a spot on the AFCON team will be encouraging laziness, and a sore lack of ambition.

That’s the point. Let them compete. What you did 2 years ago is irrelevant. nelszx: I won't drop let them compete for the spot, that's the reason they go into camping. Whoever is deserved of the spot let him take to AFCON. That he should be dropped because he's young and new holds no merit. Anthony Martial, Nabil Fekir, Valbuena were all dropped for Mbappe. Show your mettle and let he that wants it more have it. |

Thank you! Very balanced take chrisooblog: i disagree chukwueze looks an upgrade on some of this underlisted players in some aspects
he's a better dribbler than onyekuru, a bit faster only thing henry has over him is an eye for goals which samuel is steadily improving on
better dribbler than musa but not yet as prolific as alhaji musa in terms of goals.
at per if not better than kalu in terms of dribbles, more direct and business minded than kalu, looks to have better goal sense than him too. only thing kalu surpasses chukwueze in is crosses |

I’m just reading all this. Tbaba which state U dey that time? Make we shack hahaha tbaba1234: Samu offers something that simply does not exist in the super eagles right now. Natural left footed attacking players offer something different.
When Onyekuru, Musa and Kalu trouble the Barca defence in a competitive game, we can talk about upgrade. Those players are not obviously better. |

Context remains the SE. I don’t think ALL the current wingers are great. So saying none can be dropped paints a misleading picture. komekn: Put Onyekuru in Villareal and in La Liga and what do you think will happen.
Put Onyekuru in Everton in the EPL and he will in my opinion be largely anonymous.
Put Chukwueze in Galatasaray and do you think he would be more effective than Onyekuru.
Without doubt both players ate outstanding talents one who has done a lot more than the other and has played 2/3 seasons of competitive football.
When you change the team dynamics as well as league and club. You may not necessarily get the same result you had before.
Chukwueze is on a. PHENOMENONAL RISE but this is his first season admittedly with great promise.
How you manage your career at this stage will determine success or failure. Not too long ago people were comparing KC to Aguero, Gabriel even Mbappe. Now all had been exposed to show his true capacity.
The same goes for Isaac Success lots of Hype he will scatter the EPL etc. What is the result a comprehensive WASTE, 3 seasons in the EPL and what can we say?? ❓
So Chukwueze has to be managed very carefully with the right choices. With development the over riding consideration not £££€€€.
But whether he plays Afcon or U20 is irrelevant young players go in any out of junior team yo senior team until they are established. In England Tega Abrahams played for England but now playing U21.
In any case he has limited time to play in the U20 he will be 20 next month. |

Have u even been following me on this thread? To assume my opinions is largely based on one match performance is delusional andrew444: Lols
Onyekuru is not better than samu just because samu scored against barca and did well, i understand.
Maybe in the future if onyekuru plays in spain or england then maybe he scores against barca or mancity he will be better than samu

Take Onyekuru for example |

You guys are making it seem Samu has nothing on those players. That’s misleading. I’m not attempting to rubbish Onyekuru etc. If we look closely at both players. Looking at style of play etc, Onyekuru isn’t better than Samu in my opinion. andrew444: Agreed with everything you said
But stop saying this one pass this one ,na wetin me no go agree with be that, just because say one dey turkey no mean say make you talk say dem better pass am.
Yes onyekuru and samu are the same at market value
If onyekuru is in spain, his market value will be higher than it is . |

tell me the things they have done in SE. please inform me. Earthquake2: Rohr rates players based on their performance in the SE
As far as Samu has not done those things in the SE, Rohr will not rate him better than the players he has currently |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 8:47am On Apr 06, 2019 |
I watched Samu against Real Madrid. Na today we start to follow the guy? My argument remains Samu is not the kind of player to warm the bench. He will put a good challenge against any player who start ahead of him in the SE, unlike some of these names u guys are reeling out so called untouchables — some of which have been comfortable bench warmers in SE over a while now. Onyekuru and Samu are equal on market value according to transfermarkt. Give them another year and u know what will happen. andrew444: Yes agreed samu is doing well, But why did you wait till against barca before you talk?
And how has he been better than onyekuru as you have said because onyekuru is playing in turkey abi?
This is samu first season in europe and he is doing great
But why say he is better than onyekuru? So once player play well against barca na pass mark? I didnt see you talk about samu since o, na tilll against barca, if na dem tbaba chris and co i go understand, suddenly after barca game he has been better than onyekuru in europe?
You are the one not making it clear |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 8:34am On Apr 06, 2019 |
Oga Samu has proved himself against the best clubs in Spain. Current, most recent, top class performance in just his first pro season. If you are saying Rohr will not drop the other players for Chuks, that’s a whole different argument. Make it clear. andrew444: I didnt say moses simon has had a better season than chuks, i dont know why you are speaking this way
Hope you know who super eagles coach his? You know rohr right, I will like rohr to pick chuks for afcon, But you think he will drop one of those players abi? oya lets watch and see
Oga onyekuru has always had a better season so what are you saying? Samu was just out this season, so what are you trying to say about onyekuru, is it because dude is playing in turkey or what? Onyekuru has always score goals every season , tell me when onyekuru has had a bad season that you are saying he has not had a better season than samu, is this not samu first season in europe?
Make una dey cool down for this thread abeg, i no say if you be coach you go drop onyekuru self
Onyekuru has been naija best winger in europe for the past 2 seasons what what are you trying to say? |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 8:22am On Apr 06, 2019 |
Sentiments written over this. Has Simon even had a better season compared to Samu? Add to that, Onyekuru and maybe even Kalu? Musa is just a more established SE player. Let’s talk performance, if we go by club form this season, Samu is an exceptional young talent and can gate crash this squad easily if given more minutes in the SE andrew444: The question you should be asking is will kalu ,onyekuru,Simon ,musa ,will any of them be dropped ?
You don't need to be asking if he will make the afcon or not ,now drop one of those players I mentioned |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:48am On Apr 05, 2019 |
Let’s put sentiments aside Samu is good enough for AFCON. And he is not the kind of player to be satisfied in bench. There is no winger in the team now that is GUARANTEED to start ahead of him. That the kind of competiom we need in all the departments of our team. |
