I agree with you on the opinion that the AFCON would expose us. My "wanting us yo win" wouldn't make us win. Rather, hardworking, good tactics, excellent man-management and the right player selection with luck on our aide should increase our chances of success.
It will be sad if we don't win or at least reach the semis because this team has received unprecedented support compared to the other teams (historically). |

Na u dey panic. Me I just they observe. So U guys thought after beating Cameroon, Algeria etc Nigeria had a good chance at the WC? Interesting. Icon4s: The bolded just confirms what u imply. Meaning u had to discard their WC qualfiers performances and judged them only based on mere friendlies.
Set targets if you want. Some of us have been following the AFCON for 4 decades and so we have seen the highs and lows of it. I will just advise you to relax, stop pressing the panic botton and enjoy the nations cup. We can only wish the team Success. |

You are the one implying I said “friendly only” was I suppose to judge SE going into the WC based on their WC qualifiers? . If their performances does not inspire confidence I won’t say a different thing. We all hoped the SE will show us a different side at the WC proper. Some of us including myself was even opining the Rohr some cards kept to his chest. The truth is we already know Rohr’s capabilities. I won’t expect much barring surprises. And I hope I will be surprised because I really do want SE to do well. If u just expect a decent outing you shouldn’t be panicked by what I said earlier. I just have a very high expectation from Rohr based on ample support and time he’s had. Granted he has his strengths and I won’t take that away from him. He needs better assistants if we are going to progress from our past accomplishments. Icon4s: I don't judge a team based on Friendlies only. I do not even believe in that Philosophy of "you are only as good as your last game". I have not set any target for the team neither am I pressing any panic botton like you are doing. I just expect a very descent outing. |

Agreed with one reservation. we also have to count Ighalo’s recent goals for SE. Abi can’t somekne make amends for their past? Let’s praise Ighalo at least for now.. U can’t just hate person finish. ChrisKels: Musa shows up when it matters most while Ighalo chickens out. Thats not to say Musa made the right move. Ighalo's prodigalities in front of goal are well documented. Ighalo is a rope of sand as long as the national team is concerned while Musa is a hero. Musa has played and excelled at the highest level, national team wise, while, Ighalo has been a colossal fiasco, hence, it's preposterous comparing the two. Musa as a wing forward promises more goals(very vital ones for that) than Ighalo as a striker. |

Nwakali na youth player. I’m not sold until I see him perform at a high stage. If there is a third #9 spot vacant in SE, it would be a tough battle for the final slot. I would rather go with Osimhen. Ighalo, Osimhen and Onuachu. All different kind of strikers. They bring something different to the table tbaba1234: Simy with a brace
Success with an assist
Sadiq Umar with an assist
Ekong kept a clean sheet in Udinese 2:0 win
Ndidi with a man of the match performance

Fair enough. Foreigner or not. mostob: On Rohr.... he have tried even though he has shortcomings, that shows he is human. You see, I don't like blaming players or coaches simply because playing and coaching ain't easy as we see it or better still watch it on TV. majority of guys here blaming Rohr,if given the SE WC squad can't qualify from a group comprising crown FC ,Sunshine stars and Remo stars. The only option now is for NFF to retire Salisu Yusuf and bring in Unknown but proven tactically astute coach maybe from our league. This will complement and strengthen Rohr's weakness. o pari |

I don’t apply sentiments at all. If the team looks good to go just before the tourney I will throw my entire weight on them. Prior to the WC proper SE had lackluster performances in most of their friendlies. So how will that inspire my confidence? Do I want Naija to win the AFCON, yes. But if it doesn’t look likely, I will say it as it is. kellycute: I have notice your critical attitude toward the team each time we are going for a major tournament. You are fond of supporting the team when there ain't nothing at stake but the moment we are going for a tounament, you switch to negative rhetoric. You did the same thing prior to the world cup which Hella shocked the shi.t out of icon4s. You became so critical and negative to the extent some people be like.... "joebi na you be dis". Nation cup is around the corner and you are free to switch to your default mode. |

Rohr no be Nigerian but some people sabi blend in. The NFF’s situation has improved, but when Rohr is owed nobody hears kpem. The truth is people who have high tolerance are better in managing relationships. Even me sef I won’t be able to cope in that situation. But I’m just saying it as it is. TheGoodJoe: Attitude Ke. Cope with feeding players with thousands of dollars from his pocket. Men that one is not bad attitude but lack of money or means to source for funds to maintain the team. Keep in mind he was not being paid during that period. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:34pm On Mar 28, 2019 |
Why couldn’t he cope? Isn’t that related to attitude? I didn’t say bad attitude mind u. I’m not even trying to argue if he was wrong or right. But is he able to manage people/relationships well? TheGoodJoe: Not really. Oliseh could not cope with the sabotage. He did not understand how bad it was from the outside looking in. I remember when Oliseh made the rant video, Peterside Idah got asked why Oliseh complaining was being frowned upon by the NFF. Peterside replied that because the treatment was normal and all other Nigerians coaches deal with the poor treatment handed to them.
You can imagine Oliseh going for the CHAN camp and the players did not have food to eat. Oliseh was feeding the players from his pocket. If my memory serves me right, Oliseh spent thousands of dollars feeding the player. When Peterside arrived the camp, the first thing Oliseh did was to ask for money.
So I doubt attitude led Oliseh out but our mentality of sabotaging ourselves from doing well. |

If Rohr can take us to the final of the AFCON I will have not complaints. He doesn’t even have to match Keshi’s achievements. But I doubt he will. Make una come for my head. It happened during the WC. I no run. |

It’s a Nigerian people problem. Modified However, if not for Oliseh’s attitude, he would still be the SE coach till now. And that’s if Pinnick does not bulge to pressures from Nigerians. TheGoodJoe: Zidane had little qualifications as a first team coach before breaking champions league records. Same with Pep Guardiola.
By the way, I am one of those who believes in the universality of football coaching methods. That was why Amunike could impress with Tanzania. We just downplay our coaches and do not give them the support to succeed. More like sabotaging them and then say they are not good |
