African oppositions offer something different. Else, we can just sit back now and say we are good to go. I don't think Rohr thinks so.

So you could not decipher from the 5 grade A WC qualifiers we have played thus far? you have to wait for 'Grade A' FRIENDLIES which are not as competitive as the WC qualifiers?

That's for Algeria/Argentian ties, right? I can definitely bet on that.

Any performing player old or not has a chance to be called up at least once before the World cup.

Big Joe, let me put it this way: I will guarantee you that both Obafemi Martins and Emmanuel Emenike would make the World Cup training camp if you can deposit $20K in my account today ($10k per player).

Argentina Vs Nigeria Friendly : KickOff Time Revealed, Rejected Ukraine & Israel
Published: October 26, 2017

Argentina Vs Nigeria Friendly : KickOff Time Revealed, Rejected Ukraine & IsraelThe Argentina Football Association have confirmed the kickoff time for the international friendly between the two-time world champions and Nigeria next month.

According to TYC Sports, Argentina will face the Super Eagles at the Arena of FC Krasnodar on Tuesday, November 14, starting from 1300 hours.

Assuming the time announced by the Argentina FA is the local time in Argentina, Super Eagles fans will be able to monitor proceedings as from 1700 hours Nigerian time.

Before accepting to play Nigeria, the Argentina Football Association had negotiated an international friendly with Ukraine and they also received a proposal from Israel.

Manager Jorge Sampaoli has called up 22 stars for the friendlies against Russia and Nigeria, including Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Paulo Dybala, Javier Mascherano and Angel Di María.

Eight players have been placed on a standby list : Guido Pizarro (Sevilla), Emanuel Mammana (Zenit), Giovanni Lo Celso (PSG), Emanuel Lanzini (West Ham), Gerónimo Rulli (Real Sociedad) and Joaquín Correa (Sevilla) and Emiliano Insúa (Stuttgart).

Nigeria have already qualified for next summer's showpiece with a game to spare, after four wins and a draw in Group B of the African qualifiers.

Grade A friendlies will test how strong we are in each department.

Icon4s:
It is not compulsory to make changes. If he feels he has not seen any player outside the squad that can better what he has already he can stick to what he has.

That midfield in my opinion is our strongest department.

Where we need to sort out now is our attacking department.

Etebo as AM as well. We need to hear from Rohr though. Maybe he thinks about this differently.
Icon4s:
With Mikel and Iwobi already in the team we don't need another spare AM. Etebo remains because he can also play as a CM and winger.

I sure can help you with more headlines..
Some good examples. You can have your pick and run with it:

NFF to force Martins and Emenike on Rohr
NFF end talks with Abraham after national disgrace
NFF to Rohr: You must reserve 5 slots for Home Based players.
Rohr tells Pinnick Abraham was never in his Russia plans

Icon79:
Bro, when it comes to the NFF, I tend to believe some of those rumors grin

Yes, they have surprised me so many times that as far as the NFF goes, I feel that 'where there's smoke, there's fire'. You can't put anything past those folks.

Right.. Yes rating does it. And I don't necessarily have to be the better striker. When a player makes the team of the week, a number of times then there's got to be something special about that player -- indirectly, in the long run, the opposition factor comes into play.

Kog45:
That's my point, rating does it irrespective of d opposition.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:14am On Oct 26, 2017
you are on point.

blueto:
@bolded, that wasn't what I meant. My point was the the roles that he will be assigned to play in the midfield is determined by the players that are with him. For instance, in that game against Senegal, when Onazi was removed, then he started springing passes and performing other responsibilities that were expected from Onazi. It has to do with clear definition of roles in the midfield, and the role which he plays will to some extent determine the kind of attention he will get on the football pitch, unless he decides to perform other duties which was not primarily assigned to him.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:05am On Oct 26, 2017
And even if Kayode scored, I still have a stronger chance making the team of the week. So I want to think the statistics wont consider those outside variables. So the player of the week is not necessarily the best player of that week, but the best player statistically. @ kog45
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:01am On Oct 26, 2017
Statistically yes. I Want to believe whoscored has a way of scoring based on the many aspects of the game.

But it does not ALWAYS apply in reality. Which is why Goal's team of the week for example will have some differences. So to some extent it is subjective. Another statistical website may use different ways of scoring. But on the whole, there will be similarities between them.

Consider this example, I as a striker score 5 goals against a team that has a whack defense, I'm more likely to make the team of the week, than say Kayode who performed very well against a very strong opposition, but didn't score.

Kog45:
Are u saying whoscored's rating doesn't matter coz they normally have team of d week and with this rating i thought Omeruo get better chance than Ekong in team of d week with d ratings, just asking
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:43am On Oct 26, 2017
Well Omeruo should have done better as regards the goals Kasimpasa conceded. One of them was a corner, where he did not react quickly to stay with his man. In the build up to the other goal, he wasn't sharp in marking, he was bullied into allowing a cross evade him.
Kog45:
not really comparing his performance with Ekong,I just need clarification on word sluggish
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:26am On Oct 26, 2017
His sluggishness was as regards the goals they conceded. However, his tackles, clearances and interceptions scored him points.

Modified
And it does not necessarily mean Omeruo did better than Ekong. Two different matches, different scenarios.
The attacking threat Ekong faced MAY not have necessitated him having that much tackles, clearances and interceptions. The comparison will be only fair if they are both teammates as Center Backs and played in the same match. So yes, Omeruo had a a higher rating, but his rating is not relative to Ekong's or any other player's for that matter who played in a different match.

Kog45:
Pls what can u say on Omeruo rating coz ANZ said he was sluggish and still get good rating even better than Ekong.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 9:57am On Oct 26, 2017
I agree but I disagree.
In terms of all round play, yes the presence of a player playing a specific role can confine a teammate to another role, which may define their overall impact. But to say the presence of that player will tie the leg of his teammate from pulling one or two tricks, I totally disagree.

however on a second thought, can Ndidi play Mikel's role? Because in that Senegal game, Ndidi was the sprayer of passes, and he seemed to be the spine of that midfield in the absence of Mikel. Also checking our formation was 4-4-2 diamond according to transfermarkt. Who played the #10 role? Iwobi was in the pitch but was listed as one of the forwards, or maybe he dropped to the #10 role, so you have a point. What we had there was an Ndidi-Onazi-Iwobi(?) combo before Ogu came in for Onazi.

blueto:
It has to do with the presence of Mikel and Onazi in same midfield. Just like you don't feel much of Aguero and Dybala's impacts when Messi is also on the pitch. Did you notice that it was when Onazi was removed from the game against Senegal that we starting seeing the best of Ndidi? Even for Onazi, it was when Mikel was removed against Algeria that he threw that great pass to Musa that resulted to the third goal, and also when Mikel was removed against Cameroon that Onazi was able to go forward to assist Iheanacho's goal. So don't always expect to see the best of Ndidi when Mikel and Onazi are also on the pitch playing a midfield combo. That is why I want to see what Ndidi-Mikel-Iwobi combo will look like.

Whoscored Nigerian Super Lig Player of the Week | Aminu Umar

Antalyaspor 2-1 Kasimpasa

Samuel Eto'o (Antalyaspor) got whoscored's MOTM recognition in the expense of Kenneth Omeruo. Omeruo looked rather sluggish and could have been more effective in preventing Antalyaspor's goals. +Stats Rating: 7.21

Sivasspor 0-0 Bursaspor

Sincere Seth and teammates benefited from an own goal to steal the maximum points in front of their home fans. Seth did not get the nod from the bench, after a dismal debut showing in the previous round.
+Stats Rating : N/A

Azubuike Okechukwu was conspicuously missing from Yeni's matchday squad for the second consecutive time. The 20-year-old Dream Team VI defensive midfielder last played for Yeni on the 1st of October, when he was pulled off in the 44th minute of their 1-1 draw with Patrick Eze's Konyaspor.
+Stats Rating: N/A

Super Eagles vice captain, Ogenyi Onazi started for Trabzonspor but was subbed off in the 60th minute. Onazi only managed one shot for the period he was in action -- the shot was off target. Yeah, there's something not quite so energetic or vibrant about Ndidi when he plays for Nigeria. Also Etebo can play as the AM with Mikel and Onazi behind. Wait ooo are only going to be playing 4-3-3? What of other formations? It's like 4-4-2 is slowly fading away.

I think I read he was going to invite a large pool of players for the Algeria and Argentina matches.
I personally think that is a great idea, as any newly discovered player needs to be integrated in the team early. In this circumstance I expect Rohr to be more cautious

Onazi, Emenike Score In Trabzonspor, Olympiakos Cup Wins
October 25, 2017 5:35 pm
By James Agberebi:

Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi was on target for Trabzonspor who thrashed third-tier side Corum Belediyespor 6-0 away in the fourth round of the Turkish Cup on Wednesday.

Onazi scored in the 74th minute to make it 4-0 in favour of Trabzonspor.

Hugo Rodallega (eighth, 18th minutes) and Dame N’Doye (79th, 82nd minutes) both had a brace while Theo Bongonda scored in the 52nd minute.

Rodallega was however shown a straight card in the 63rd minute.

Onazi’s only other goal came in the league and he has made five appearances in the Turkish top flight this season.

In the Greek Cup, also on Wednesday, former Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike scored for Olympiacos who defeated second division side Acharnaikos 3-0 away.

Emenike scored in the 90th minute to bring the score to 3-0.

Guilaume Gillet and Andre Martins had scored in the ninth and 48th minutes respectively for Olympiakos.

The win took Olympiakos to first position on six points after two wins in Group five in the Greek Cup.

Emenike, who is yet to score in the Greek Super League after four games so far this season, has now scored three goals in the Cup.
