GERMANY: Bundesliga - Round 10

Mainz 0-1 Eintracht Frankfurt (52 mins played)

Leon Balogun back in Mainz's squad but he is in the dugout, just as Deji Beyreuther is in the dugout of Eintracht.
I hope they exchange some kind words after the game. And just maybe Balogun will invite Deji over for a meal of jollof rice.

I think he was just promoted from their junior team. He is a left-back so yes I will support his invite if he puts up some good performances in the Bundesliga. Some players can pull it off even at age 18.

tbaba1234:
I won't be surprised if he gets a national team invite. I don't think the switch will be difficult. However, i will like to see him play a few games in the Bundesliga first.

oga, the captain is like the vice player-manager. Many captains will fail if they apply all the attributes you just mentioned. They have to deal with each individual differently to some extent.

Mujtahida:
Nooo Joebie it's not a bad analogy. Leadership includes influence, direction, control, even force. The military analogy is quite apt. Football is war. Many times Mikel has been described as commander, a team described as troops. Even the word Squad is military in origin- Squadron leader.

It's the coach's job to manage the players. Every player look up to the captain during game time. It doesn't have to be so after game time. It's natural that some players will be inspired by the captain even off the pitch -- but it's hardly always the case that all players will.

korlahwarleh:
Yeah I get that, but at least they give inspiration in some ways, don't they?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 8:03pm On Oct 27, 2017
Captains don't control. Leadership is not about control. The military is a bad analogy.

korlahwarleh:
Yes I meant accepting that Onazi is the vice captain and by implication his leader in the team. Let me ask you, why is it that when a new IG of police is appointed, all serving officers that are his senior will automatically be "retired" by the government?. The reason is that glitches as it pertains to leadership in the system will be eradicated. No matter how humble you say Martins is, there's a limit to how much he can be controlled by Mikel and Onazi, albeit in a national team setting

So, if he was not invited from the time you started talking about him till now, and the present crop of players got the job done, what makes you think that they can't do the job ahead without him?

oga Mickael2 and forgiveness, if we do well in the friendlies the better oh. If our youngsters come good, the better oh. Martins sent me $1000 today, because he strongly believes that if we make noise here for his recall, Rohr will call him up grin

Modified
Who go like hammer like me? I don't want to chop alone o. That money up there is per week, so let's keep the pages coming.

korlahwarleh:
Good evening. I'm quite new here and I've been following for some time.
Please I want to ask, is experience not needed for qualifiers?
Because with the vast "experience" people someone like Martins had/has, I did not see people clamouring for his recall during the qualifiers, or did he just gather these "experience" after we qualified?
Also, I remember that when we won AFCON, we did not make use of Martins' experience. So why make it look as if the team is weak and vulnerable because they're not employing Martins' "experience"?
Another question is this: Are all the coaches in premiership, la liga, French League, Bundesliga e. t. c blind? Why haven't they noticed Martins' "experience" or they do not want "experienced players in their squad?
Please tell me, will Martins listen to Mikel both on and off the pitch? Will Martins see Mikel and Onazi as his senior in the team?
Lastly, all these talks of "we don't have a team yet", "are these the guys we're taking to Russia?" e. t. c
Please this is national team football not club football where you shop for the best. The current team is at least close to the best or even the best the country can produce. it's not as if we have four players in Real Madrid, 3 in Barcelona's first eleven, and 2 in Man U and Bayern respectively that we're not inviting. I don't think we can do more than this. Maybe we should wait till when we can begin to buy and sell players also in national team football. I bet it with you that even when that time comes, the Ronaldos, Messis and the good players of this world will. e playing for countries like Qatar, UAE, and China. (You should know why). So, the best we can do is to support the current team. Please let's allow Martin's to enjoy his pension in peace. I just want to belief that neither Martins nor his Family members/Agent is behind any of these pro-Martins monikers

Thanks

I be prophet? That's why stats is good. It reduces the time of experimentation. Else we should try the homebased players too. I promise you if we camped 500 homebased players, we will find one jewel. But why waste the time and energy just to find one jewel, when you could have done that in a considerable shorter time with 50 players in Europe (for example) with better stats.

ALGERIA-NIGERIA DEAD RUBBER FALL OUT

Madger Bank on Nigeria Win as Confidence Booster for CAN 2019 Qualification (Retitled by Joebie)

“If we start with a win over Nigeria, it will help the confidence qualifying for CAN 2019. I am very proud to have been chosen and to feel this confidence around me,” Madjer told Lagazette du Fennec.

The Algeria soccer legend who is in his third stint as coach of the team also hit back at critics of his appointment, insisting that he will answer them with results on the pitch.

“Yes, I am attacked by journalists, by people on social networks. But I can assure you that I feel a lot of confidence from a majority of the public. I see it when I go out on the street.

“But we know that I will be judged on the results. And so this match against Nigeria is very important.”

Depends on how you define active. Active to some means clocking some minutes. IMO If you play in a lower league, you should be banging over 25 goals. I remember Jonathan Akpoborie was the top scorer with 32 goals - if I still remember - in Bundesliga 2. The following year, he only managed about 14 goals with Hansa Rostock in the Bundesliga proper. So yes, you should get more goals in the lower league. Take a look at Dessers now. He's had a few already, but in the Dutch 2nd tier he was a machine gun.

Modified
Martins has had a decent run this season. Just 3 games without scoring, and now he's got an assist. Let's judge by the full season. His stats are as good as Ighalo's considering the time they've spent on the pitch this season.

Mujtahida:
All of them must be given a chance. No discrimination, no sentiments. Please add John Utaka. He is still very active at CS Sedan Ardennes in France. Utaka scored a very important goal for us against Cameroon at Afcon 2004. We must call him too. I will post his recent stats by God's grace.

I think Tammy achieved at 19 last season, what Ighalo achieved in the championship several years ago.
And he has started the Premier League brightly, just as Ighalo did as well. The lad is promising, I must admit. But his switch won't happen fast, we know how it went with Aina. So before then, lets have the likes of Onuachu. And let's see if they can bring anything to the table.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 7:07pm On Oct 27, 2017
Well I'm basing my opinion from the little I've seen and also considering he played as LB more than any other position in the 2016/17 season.
He played as a left back for a considerable number of minutes just as he did against Zambia in the Premier league that season.
He clocked 90 minutes as a LB in the EFL trophy and also a couple Premier League 2 games.

Icon79:
That's good news. Have you seen him play there? I mean, besides his cameo appearance in the game against Zambia?

Why not, lets throw the camp open and choose the best legs like we do with under 17. Invite everybody including Onobi,Ajagun,Lawal,Olofinjana,Mutiu Adepoju, Ajibade Babalade and my whole kindred and destroy the whole process just because I have deep seated insecurity.

And if that didnt work lets invite my clan members in England like Adarabioyo,Solanke, Lukman an co and see if they can use English clout to break into the team just so my inferiority complex can be fixed.

Listen up everybody, you must learn to ignore unreasonable comments ,except if you want to make fun of these elements of division.
Super Eagle has a unit we are working with and the dumbest thing to do is to start attracting unfamiliar faces who will bring their own ego just because they are veterans. I love this current Super Eagles more that the other set for one thing we dont have egotistic elements in this team.

Mikel is very calm and matured
Onazi is very humble and matured
Ighalo is not even sure if he is a sure starter
Balogun is very focused and disciplined
Iwobi,Iheanacho and Aina are like little kids who play in the sand
Ndidi seems to have strong character but he can be benched anytime
VicMo doesnt have the pull to generate conflicts
The rest are just there and dont care for power that much....Abdulahi na correct Malam,Echiejile is very worried,Simon Moses is very dispensable,Ekong knows we are watching like vultures, Ogu has pull but he will have to wait to start playing...lol

My point is dont mess this good thing we have going on..Daalu nu.

Agent Confesses- Eagles Coach Rohr Turned Down Big Money To Invite My Player

The appointment of Gernot Rohr has made it almost impossible for player agents to buy their way into the senior national team of Nigeria according to a player agent who spoke with Owngoalnigeria.com.

Since the coming of Rohr over a year ago, a lot has changed in the fortunes of the Super Eagles on the pitch, but more significant is the progress made outside the pitch.

” A lot has changed especially for us who are player agents, I don’t know about others but I use to have six players in the Super Eagles, some I paid for them to be called up, while some were there on merit”, he told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” I must confess I have not given money directly to any coach before, but there are guys who do the leg work and get the job done but with Rohr nobody wants to take such risk. His body language is enough to discourage you.

“Presently I have one player in the team and he isn’t doing badly at all‎, which is why he is still in the team, at a time I have a player who is now playing in a league not befitting for his standard.

” I tried using the Super Eagles to increase his market value but despite my big money offer, I was told in clear terms that Rohr works with his scouts who are mostly unknown. He will collect the player’s name and ask them to monitor”, he concluded.

Serbia Wants Eagles Friendly
By The Eagle Online On Oct 26, 2017

Serbia has opened discussions for a friendly match against the Super Eagles ahead of the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The friendly, according to the President of the Serbia-Nigeria-Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Temi Gold, is aimed at preparing the Serbian side for the Mundial.

In a chat with the media, Gold said time has come for Nigeria to explore all avenues for growth in the country and that sports, especially football, is one of the areas.

He revealed that contacts are being made at the highest level for a friendly match between Nigeria and Serbia and that talks are ongoing.

Gold said: “I can assure you that we are in contact with the NFF President, Mr. Melvin Amaju Pinnick.
“He has assured us that we can work together.

“We are also talking to the Technical Committee Chairman, Barrister Chris Green.
“And we are getting closer.
“The NFF President himself confirmed to the media that all doors are open for the Super Eagles to play friendlies and he has been talking all parties.
“As it clicks, including the game against Serbia, we will open up.
“It’s really work in progress for us at the NFF.”
Dr. Gold said what the friendly game hopes to achieve is not only entertainment but a way to rediscover the economic prosperity of the greatest and biggest African nation on earth, adding: “Just watch out.”

Dele welcome to the competition. We have Uzoho who is promising. We have Enyeama who has not returned yet. We have Ezenwa who is holding it at the moment. We have Akpeyi we are not confident in. In all, let Rohr decide.

lol.. But we kept on inviting Nwankwo Kanu, didn't we? Don't try to draw a wrong conclusion.
I'm sure Martins has scored more goals than Kanu in SE. please please please, this is not an invitation for a Kanu vs Martins debate.. I'm just saying let's not apply double standards.

Let me break down Martins stats in SE shirt, because truth must be told. Some of us are trying to rubbish him because of some disappointing performance in SE:

Here are his stats:
12 matches World cup qualification -> 10 goals
12 matches Africa Cup of Nations -> 3 goals
4 matches International friendlies -> 2 goals
2 matches Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers -> 1 goal, 1 assist

Just because Martins failed to score after clocking 72 minutes in the World Cup proper some of us are trying to rubbish his stats above.

mank1234:
The summary of your post here suggest that Martins as usual would flop as club form is not same as national team form. So let's move on and forget him. His time is gone.
