Clement is English. And he said his opinion is simply because he is English. Although he is saying the boy will make his own decision but as the coach of Swansea he don INDIRECTLY put pressure on the boy by even commenting on the matter like that.

His antics will not work.
However, Pinnick need to improve on this aspect going forward. If I were him, I will say we are making a move on Tammy, when the matter don already reach FIFA hand. Stay ahead of your competition.

soetanoreoluwa:
But I also saw a post about Swansea coach saying he want him to play for England and also he said tammy has never mentioned his discussion of switching to him before... But he can just talk to him but he can't influence him to choose England

PR runs na.. just like how they deal with transfer rumors.. Pinnick should not be staring all this.

TheSuperNerd:
Just saw this few seconds ago too.... no where has he said he won't play for Nigeria. See? This is just a smart move by him and he is also wisely using his Dad's close family friendship with Pinnick as alibi for the visit.

Lad knows what is at stake now... England will immediately that making things hellish for his young career at Swansea... like you said earlier the pressure but He knows what he wants and I hope he avoids the agbonlahorish syndrome.

@bolded That's a good standard. But it's not true with the SE today or before, even with the Nigeria-bred players.

komekn:
You earn the right to the SE by putting in top class consistent performances week in week out. That impression is further cemented by playing in a quality team in a even top quality league.

foreign-borns or foreign-breds don't get a free pass. They still have to face the competition in the SE.
it's not a sin to get them to choose Nigeria. But playing for Nigeria now and in the long run, they have to earn it. No one is giving them a free pass.

I do quite appreciate the efforts he's made and that's why I never criticised him giving publicity to his stunts. It's just that sometimes we emphasise so much on foreign borns like I feel forgiveness does it makes me indifferent.

grin okay my brother.
Ogbeche had a good run years later. but anyways, let's focus on the Benin match

Mujtahida:
Not sure this is meant for me. However let me say that I have never been good with numbers and when I started watching football the only stats that we had on our minds were the goals and quite later on the prize of a player. So making the switch to follow stats that look at tackles, passes, blocks, interceptions etc as is the norm today is difficult for me. I no kukuma like numbers.

Like Rohr rightly said, nobody complained when Agu replaced Mikel in Uyo. Hahaha..
it didn't seem like we missed Mikel one bit in that game. I remember we even scored another after he was subbed-out.

But hey, we all want to see what Ogu can bring in a competitive match, though it is clear Rohr consider Agu ahead. Let's not forget Agu also once started in a friendly and did wonderfully well -- if I'm not mistaking.

Have you not seen my squad for Algeria already? grin I'm not going to throw Tammy in yet, because I don't expect that switch to be official before the year runs out.

TheSuperNerd:
Yes... it should have been Ogu for Mikel against Cameroun in Yaounde and not Agu bcoa of Ogu's ball holding/retention abilities but all the same sha... I wanna believe Rohr has taken note. And Ogu is in line for his world cup debut for Nigeria. I see him making the final squad this time but not as a starter.

He is a quality back-up to have on the bench and that is the kind of bench I speak of. A bench that oozes quality.

I think transfermarkt. com is one tool many of us should master. I have learned a lot from there. Also whoscored. com . Let's all learn how to search with these and more. I like whoscored .com for stats and ratings. I consider their player of the week most objective, because it considers actual stats with a level playing field in view. We can all come up with our best XI and we will hardly agree all the time, but stats removes all sentiments. Which is why a paper can name Awaziem in its best XI but another paper would not name him there. However, editors are a professional voice, and their opinions should also be respected.

Mujtahida:
Ogbeche wasn't lack of service. He just wasn't good enough. How did he fare afterwards both for club and country?

Swansea City boss Paul Clement admits he would like to see Tammy Abraham choose England over Nigeria
The young striker is set to turn his back on England for Nigeria, but Clement admits he would rather Abraham choose the Three Lions

Swansea City manager Paul Clement admits he would like to see striker Tammy Abraham stay with England - but he insisted he would not influence the Chelsea loanee's decision.

Abraham, who has gone through the England youth system, appears set to switch his national allegiance to Nigeria, according to the Nigerian Football Federation.

The striker is eligible to play for the Super Eagles through his father, but Clement admits he would rather see him pull on the Three Lions jersey.

Swansea City manager Paul Clement
"I don't know about that," said Clement. "I have seen the article but I have not asked him as there are more pressing issues at the moment.

"There would be more travel involved, but whatever he chooses to do is up to him.

"From a personal point of view I would like him to stay with England. I say that because I am English and he is a talent you want involved in the national side."

Swansea City's Tammy Abraham set to switch international allegiance, according to Nigerian Football Federation president
However, despite his preference for the player to choose England over Nigeria, Clement was adamant that he would offer impartial advice to the 19-year-old - and not try and sway his decision.

When asked whether this sort of situation was more prominent in modern football, Clement said: "It is, and it is down to the player.

"They may see a better opportunity to play regularly at international level or it can be a belief that is where their identity lies.

"But it is down to the player. I have no idea what Tammy will do, he has come through the English system puts him at an advantage.

"I will give advice if he wants it, but I will not try to influence him. It is down to him and his family."

The debate surrounding Abraham's nationality comes as the young striker continues to adapt to life in the Premier League, having scored 26 goals in the Championship last season with Bristol City.

The major selection dilemmas facing Swansea City as big stars face huge disappointment this weekend
And Clement has been impressed with how Abraham has dealt with moving up to the top tier, saying: " He has made the biggest step of his career, I am not surprised at how he has done.

"He has done fine and will get better. When you make a step like this, going to the Premier League, it is challenging and difficult.

"He has done some good things and some that could have been better but we are working to help him and the players get better."

Whether you are sentimental about foreign-bred or not, I must say we must give Pinnick and co praise for turning a new chapter in the war for players' allegience. I must say Pinnick and in fact the new NFF has made playing for the Super Eagles more attractive than ever before, regardless of the problems we still face in national football matters. We have improved in packaging and the use of influence and better approach (compared to the past) in the way we go about convincing these young talents to turn up for Nigeria.

Let's give credits when it is due. However there is still room for improvement especially is it has to do having a solid football structure domestically.

Lille has not been in good from anyway, and he may just be back between the sticks.

TheSuperNerd:
Yes you are spot on on Rohr's conditions... and believe me I am sure Enyeama has no problem with Mikel as captain. In fact I can tell you on good authority that part of his problem with Oliseh was how Bypassed Mikel to Musa even when he (Oliseh) decided to strip him of the captainship.

And on Recovery, clips from Enyeama's twitter handles of recent and the past weeks will tell you he is on his way to a fine recovery and should be fit before January even.

Finally on Getting a new team and getting game time... now this is where we cannot say with 100% certainty what will happen, but I trust that Enyeama will get a decent team in a decent or top league and get some good gametime on the back of his own reputation as Africa's Finest till now. Time will tell shaa...

oga chill na..
packing the bus has never been our thing, even before Rohr.

One thing I can tell you for sure. We are not playing for a draw in this match. We know we are more than that. We knew we could have beaten Cameroon even away. chill, Zambia is coming to our backyard. Let them make all the noise now.
Expect the usual danger men to do the damage. Should they focus on Moses, it would be over. Should they take their eyes off him, it would even be more catastrophic. Wait and see.

TheGoodJoe:
It is hard because I foresee us parking the bus against Zambia. It disturbs my heart because I know we have the right blend of talents to blow Zambia. However, we will tuck our legs and maybe win with a narrow margin or draw.

With a more offensive set-up, that is how we can go far in the game. I know Rohr does not want to risk losing the points he gathered but Yaounde was the best place to light the dynamite.

This is truly a special set we have now but we can not wait for the foreign clubs to build them for us. We need our junior teams playing Friendlies. We need to have a team B of the Super Eagles playing. We need to monitor them and get the best blend.

We also need an offensive strategy and get the best players in the Super Eagles. That is how we can make a monumental impact.

Yes Rohr has already set conditions of his return.
1. Recovery off course
2. Getting a new club so he could play regularly.
3. Accepting the leadership structure in the current team, and not setting any conditions of his own.

Please let me know if I misquoted Rohr in any way.

So it's not going to be automatic, but he could well return in time before Russia.

TheSuperNerd:
Enyeama will return. There is no two ways about it. He will return. He is still Africa's most elite Goalie in the game today. He is still Africa's Finest... and the only World class Goalie we have. I can also personally label Carl Ikeme world class but fact is, he is more of near world class...

Ezenwa and Ajiboye are good quality backups and among the best from the local scene but are not world class goalies. At least not yet...

The next line of goalies who I rate to be possible candidates for world class status between the sticks are Alampasu (when we beat Zambia, I want him between the sticks against Algeria in that last game), Nwokolor and Uzoho.... one or two others may still rise... but this is it for now.

Emma Daniel is good too but I rate the three above higher right now based on "potential".... but Emma did great at Rio 2016... this is why with him and the other two in Ezenwa and Ajiboye and the three musketeers in Alamapasu, Nwokolor and Uzoho.... I really don't see the need for Akpeyi apart from the use of the "Experience card" again...

Experience is good and cannot be thrown out the window but again it is not the ultimate. Rohr knew this and went with Ezenwa against Cameroun when he could have easily ran off to Israel and recalled Aiyenugba.... wink

NFF – Chelsea Ace Victor Moses Played A Role In Tammy Abraham Decision To Snub England For Nigeria
September 21, 201702

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has revealed that Chelsea wing-back Victor Moses spoke with on loan forward Tammy Abraham on phone to convince him to switch allegiance to Nigeria.

Abraham has represented England at various youth levels but just like Moses who played for England at the 2007 U17 World Youth Championship, he is still eligible to represent Nigeria at senior level.

Talks over a switch of allegiance to Nigeria were held with his parents and his agent Neil Fewills which according to the president of the Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Pinnick ‎ended on a positive note.

During the talks which were held last week, Moses spoke to the forward who is on loan to Swansea City from Chelsea, and convinced him to commit his senior international career to Nigeria.

A report on the official website of the NFF confirmed the influence of Moses during the meeting which had the father of the player also in attendance.

DONT MISS ==> Mikel Motivated Me To Fight For Chelsea Spot- Victor Moses Salutes Super Eagles Captain
Also working in the favour of Nigeria is the close relationship Pinnick who is the President of the NFF has with the father of the 19 year old forward, as according to Pinnick they were childhood friends.

Full name Kevin Oghenetega Tamaraebi Bakumo-Abraham, Nigeria are hopeful of capping the forward in their last World Cup 2018 Qualifiers tie against Algeria, if they are able to secure progress to the tournament with a win against Zambia next month.
