Suffering from lack of winning important trophies in over a decade in all age categories. Doing what the likes of Ethiopia, Mauritius, Guinea-Bissau etc would do
Why are we even giving audience to this kind of discussion? The last time I checked, the golden era we had, and the one to come encompasses every region of this country. For those who want to go political or tribal, there are other threads for that purpose.
somehow: Garba lawal and rabiu Ali speedy players? Chai see person wey say him sabi ball!
Now let me help you with list of northern midfielders that you obviously pretend not to know.
Garba Lawal Rabiu Ali Yahaya Abdullahi Alfa Ibrahim Alhassan. Etc
To try to make this a region thing shows that you are not to be taken serious. I only chose to entertain your folly. There is no region or country that can fill any position if they have to so swallow your myopic view about life and don't bring it into football.
lol man seriously I believe there are Ghanian forums. But i've never even googled to check. The reason, I have no reason to. Just speaking the reality. Seems you all are suddenly here because of WAFU. Seriously!!??, I have more important things to argue about than jollof rice etc
Just30: He noticed your foolery and decided to put you in your place. You can't go to a Ghanaian forum cos you would have nothing to talk about . keep obsessing anyway
Seriously I didn't watch any of the games to really say. Even if we had won the WAFU tournament, it won't have meant a thing to me, because I won't consider that an achievement barring a few players like Peter Eneji who was discovered. Let's move on to more serious matters.
realpoacher: I am not an active member of this thread but I had to watch the game yesterday in order to correct you guys excessive compliants. You guys go on all the time to condemn all 11 eleven players each time a team loses when in actual sense you guys sense of judgment is terribly wrong.
What I saw yesterday was not bad players per say but bad coaching. I do not hold brief for all the players (tho I do for some) but when a coach do not have 1-2 creative AMF in his team or do not play lethal attacking football, his team will suffer. Simples!
Nigeria's defense have been solid and their passes very nice all through the tournament but the major problem the team had was that they weren't scoring goals, no! They were not lethal in finishing. When you don't attack and score very well no matter how good your defense is its going to crumble when you meet a solid opposition who defends like you but have a terrific attack.
When you lose scandalously like this, one is tempted to blame everyone and rubbish all the players but introducing 2-3 new better players to fill in for the "obvious lapses", this same team would beat the Ghanaians again.
For me, the errors I noticed is that the team lacked creative AMF's who will link the attackers to the midfielders. That's their only errors. Okpoti and Co were starved of the supplies, it was either Ghana's defensive midfielders were too exceptional or our AMF's were poor and were completely neutralized. Either way we lost.
Keeper - defense - DMF's were good, their major problem was their supply in the final third half. For complete 80 minutes there was no shot on target! Can you imagine that?.. Prior to the final, we scored a meagre 3 goals in 4 games against which teams? Benin, Mali & Guinea! Very poor attacking stats I must say. These are teams we should be using for training sessions, if we meant business.
My recommendations, allow the team the way they are but drop 3 reserves and go in search of 3 excellent creative AMF's who can hold their own any day around the final third and we will be home and dry at CHAN
I agree our team is so so whack. But look who is going to qualify for the next world cup. We will be praying for the Black Stars all the same to qualify for Russia. As tbaba1234 rightly suggested, this WAFU tourney should rather be used to discover young talents.. you can celebrate your trophy anyway. Not taking anything from you. Hold it dearly and cherish it.
leathalbeast: your team has never been good from day one and the last straw was Benin outplaying you guys with 1 man down . I was reading comments as a guest when icon4s was telling you guys that the Ghana team you beat wasn't motivated but you guys thought you beat us on merit. now look what happened to you.... you were never a match for us but you didn't notice. your team is whack and the earlier you change it before Chan starts, the better for you.
Gbam. We could have also hve used this opportuny to see young cats in the full back positions and defense generally. Goalkeeping too. Why Ezenwa again? I won't even mind NNL players lol.
tbaba1234: This is what i do not understand.. Why are we packing old men to a tournament of this nature? Wafu cup is a small tournament.. Why not use it as an avenue to expose younger players? Rabiu Ali is almost 40. Many of these guys have no national team future.
Ezenwa don chop two. I wasn't comfy with the idea of us getting too comfy with him. Lol
zicky: I've never rated the home base eagle cos I believe Nigeria best players are outside. any quality player will not spend more than 2 seasons in the NPFL
Going by this thread standard of engagement, abusing his mom was way too extreme. I agree. We should speak against that for the sake of maintaining our fine (relatively speaking) standard.
So who erred, pls apologize and let's move on. Else this will now be a new trend in this thread.
Icon4s: My brother I understand perfectly the angle from which you are looking at it.
But the thing is we are all adults here. Also we are all young men and women. I don't think any of us here is above 50years old. It means we are all youths and things like these are expected where young people come together to discuss.
I must honestly commend forumites here on how we have managed to conduct ourselves all these years here.
We have disagreed and agreed over a million issues here. Some of us have formed permanent allies and some have become permanent enemies.
Insults keep wearing it's ugly head sporadically and with time we calm down and then move on.
We have called ourselves names here: hater, tribalist, conservatist, Babylonian, anti-foreign born, non-patriotic, etc but never has anybody's mother or father been insulted here. No matter what the grievance is it is not worth the mention of our parents for insults.
Now I don't care whether TheSuperNerd started the insults or not, he has every right to feel the way he feels.
On the issue of he opening a new thread, whether it be as a fall out of what happened yesterday or not, nairaland is a free place where you chose to visit or create any thread you so chose or not. If he chooses to only post on the thread he has created and not here so be it.
And if you chose to visit his thread or not the choice is yours. But one thing I know is nature has a way of settling things out and this one will not be different.
Our problem has always been maintenance. Have we not hosted World cups? What is the state of the Abuja stadium and others today?
whizola: pls how we Nigeria struggle to put 6 standard stadium together . from kano to Kaduna to abuja to river ,uyo , Lagos ,akure and Ibadan in the south west, that of Edo not exclude
I had to share.. we are all grown ups na. If we really want to see abuses let's go to the comment section of Punch etc..
We have to wake up to a new day.
Modified Consider political threads here on NL sef
safarigirl: please, let none of us grace that thread with his presence. I think virtually every one of us at one point or another has been insulted on thus thread badly. I have cried after collecting insults on vthis thread, I have taken a hiatus and I have returned many times. So, why does he want to be a baby?
Let him do whatever he damn pleases and be king of his own land. Only a foolish man sees corrections as condemnations. If he continues with such attitude, even that thread won't last.
None of us should give him the pleasure of our presence. That was a very disrespectful thing to do to the pioneers of this thread and he should be ashamed of himself

Icon4s: Take out Ghana and Zambia. And from the North African list take out Libya and Sudan. How many are left? Nigeria will also struggle to put together 6 AFCON standard stadiums.
CAF should consider AFCON once in 4 years as this will give enough time to the hosting countries to put together their facilities and also increase the excitement, expectations and glamour. Alternatively co-hosting option can be considered.
Consequently the WC qualifiers can be expanded to accommodate almost all the CAF nations in a bid to keep them busy as they wait for the AFCON every 4 years.
This is how it is done in Europe and South America.
That's a good standard. But why the talk of full Nigerian? Is he not even more Nigerian than Ebuehi who is biracial. Ehizibue is probably better than Shehu, Ebuehi. And who knows maybe even Aina. Do we urgently need another RB? Maybe not. But Ehizibue can bring even more to the team.
Kog45: If i go by icon4s,we need players who are better than d ones in d present squad,if they are not, then we should relax. If i may ask is Ehizibue better than d current players in d squad (Aina,Shehu,Ebuhei)or Nura Abdullahi who is a full Nigerian coz i believe we are covered in RB but if d guy can play CB like Felix Uduokhai or LB,then we can try him.
No Ehizibue requires a switch of allegiance. Whereas, Ebuehi never played for Holland's junior teams
Loogan: I think I quite agree with you Otigba should by now be involved in the SE, ehizibue is an exciting prospect and I think he was in camp the first time they invited ebuehi, so maybe roah had made a choice on that, but I don't think he's there in terms of defensive quality and physicality to mix it in Africa, I hope he proves me wrong though. On Otigbas spot maybe pinnick has some young dual nationality Nigerian he want there.
Oga na. Otigba announced his intent to play for naija long when he was in the Eridivisie. Don't forget Ekong also had a rough patch in Norway just after he made his SE debut.
forgiveness: So, Hungary is comparable to Eredivise, na?
I still mentioned Ehizibue some few weeks ago and I am very much aware of what you are talking about.
Abi where was Ekong playing when he first got a look in by Naija?
Ehizibue has played almost every outfield position in his recent career. I think that's utility seeing him now play as a RB. That's another VicMo right there.
forgiveness: *cough* Ehizibue and Otigba were mentioned here severally.
Sincerely I hardly go on with the same arguments after 24 hours. I've missed pages because as I was on my way further north. Anyways I would be sincere to say even if I have read the insults back and forth I wouldn't have uttered a word because I won't want to be drawn in the middle. I've had my own share of fights here and it didn't matter if people took my sides or not. We can always move on. But one thing sir I want you to bear in mind, like I've always said, this is just nairaland. I know many of us may hold it so dearly. But the reality is there is no way we can control what people say on the internet. Let's not allow stuffs get to us to that extent if getting so hurt and leaving the thread.
I'm sure you have more important things to do and you enjoy this thread as well while passing time here. Others too. So let's take this thread for what it really is. It's secondary. Don't let secondary things get u hurt.
TheSuperNerd: This thread is a big joke now honestly.... A thread where idiots are allowed to get away with Insulting someone's mother? A thread where any one can just walk in and attack anyone and when the one being attacked shows how good he is with word jabs, they all take to supporting the one who attacked first.
Like seriously.... I now question the kind of people we have in here. People who will see Rubbish and keep quiet about it but when I begin lashing the negatives and being tough about it... They begin to talk to me.... how classic. It has been nice being on this thread... but I don't roll with hypocrites... I am not here for anyone... I am here for Nigerian Football and its return to Glory days. Time for a move on... Too much familiarity breeds contempt.
But when my mother is brought in and insulted and no one stands up to speak vehemently against that... then it is time to say goodbye. I am progressing well and flying high in my Hopkins research scholarships and other studies partly because of her. You don't insult someone's mother of goodwill and think your life will be okay. Can't believe how people reason on here...
P.S: I named this thread. The elders and people who were here from the beginning know that and they understand my passion buy maybe even they have forgotten. Goodbye and plss don't bother quoting....it is the last you see of me.
I've had my own share of arrogance, just because Rohr seems to be taking the tie seriously. Doing the needed home work on them. Abi haven't you seen my list for Algeria yet? lol
junnyjake: Khikhikhi, you guys were unlucky to be in same group with us.
I know I'd spite joebie by being arrogant when I say this " no be small beating una go come collect for Uyo" but I have to.
If you want the highest level of objectivity -- whoscored
TheSuperNerd: Ohhhhh.... I see Ndidi is rated as no.9 but hey... no single mention of Rashford.... ouuuucchhhh.... Take that you EPL dollopheads...
Note: For players with 10 starts or more in 2017 or rather last season.... Nacho only made 5 Starts or so... lol but Rashford made way more than 10 starts and I don't see his name down here... but I see Ndidi....
