TheSuperNerd:
Exactly.... nobody noticed in the first leg because we were already home and dry.. and the Lions were well wounded and stripped of their claws by the time Agu walked in... loolll

But in a different scenario, we saw the limitation of that substitution. Rohr has taken note of this I am sure.

Hindsight ehn... very funny. Always right because it speaks based on a result of something... lol

And yes Agu started against Togo in that 3-0 win. He did well in the game. Maybe Ogu and Agu together for Algeria after bagging the ticket against Zambia? loolll

And plsss don't include Tammy biko... his switch will be made official when it will be made official... I dey even put am for latest early next year in January/February or march sef... lolll

Put Dessers upfront instead... wink Or maybe Nwakaeme or Larry Kayode... your choice man.. your list... your call... cheesy

Work Permit Delays Amuzie’s Lugano Debut

By Johnny Edward:

Super Eagles left-back Stanley Amuzie is yet to make his much-awaited debut for his new Swiss League side FC Lugano because he has yet to procure his work permit, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Amuzie joined FC Lugano on a season loan deal from Italian side Sampdoria. He will play no part in their clash against Sion on Thursday due the work permit issue.

The former Nigeria U-23 defender has continued to shine in training for the Swiss club, and could be named in the squad for their weekend’s clash with Grasshoppers.

On point!!!

TheGoodJoe:

Under Pellegrini, Iheanacho also grabbed his opportunity with both hands, feet and teeth. Even when Guardiola took over and Aguero got suspended, Iheanacho took his opportunity well. Guardiola just wants something different. A bit too deep for my understanding.

Guardiola actually prefers Gabriel Jesus to Aguero.

I am like Pep explain because I do not understand.

If Pellegrini did not go, this argument would not even happen. Kelechi Iheanacho was a perfect fit for Pellegrini. That is what I like about Pelz. His transformation of Guiseppe Rossi and Forlan was legendary. Sharp and direct chances.

Of course the Nations Cup. And who know's the World Cup possibly. We all know that England will never win the Euros or World Cup in our lifetime. Even they know it.

lol Ighalo

You want to trash the same guy who lighted the EPL, and was named player of the month at a time. Weren't some of your aforementioned present in the EPL at that same period? When Rashford faces his share of goals draught what will you say?

@bolded haha two different clubs. different coaches, different preferences. different circumstances. Flawed logic/comaprison. With England, what are Rashford's chances. A meager two goals in eleven international caps?

dopeJemi:
what is that international trophy kelechi will win before rashford? Nigeria's lack of quality strikers is the reason why kelechi can start for the eagles, was it not ighalo that led the line against Cameroon, fncking ighalo

in a team that has vardy, Harry Kane, Rashford still starts, in a team that has ibrahimovic, Lukaku, martial, rashford still starts but when it was just Aguero and Wilfred bony, Kelechi couldn't start

Oga, it's mostly subjective. Rankings etc. For us here we will keep ringing about the minute to goal ratio because that stat no be beans, and it supports our argument

You don't go to a Man U thread and say a damn thing about any of their special players and get away scott-free.

This is a pro-Nigeria thread. Should a Ghanian come here and say any trash about our players, he will get enough rain of abuses.

Anyone who comes here and chooses to talk down on our players should not expect a different treatment. If you really think Rashford is better you can keep that argument within yourself, else expect anything here.

Just as England holds dearly their own, we also hold dearly ours.

But let's call a spade, a spade. Iheanacho is class. He has scored more goals for Nigeria than Rashford has for England. And Rashford will most likely never win a senior international trophy. But guess who definitely will, before he hangs his boots? grin

So if you like keep using England celebrated ManU as your yardstick. Now, does it hold?

dopeJemi:
I don't see iheanacho's name in the top 10 best young talent in the world, I don't see iheanacho's name among the nominees for the golden boy award, I didn't see iheanacho's name when Ronaldo mentioned the top 7 players in the world that can take over from him when he retires

Onigbinde Blames NFF For Abraham’s Nigeria Switch Saga

Onigbinde Blames NFF For Abraham’s Nigeria Switch Saga

By Izuchukwu Okosi:

Former Super Eagles coach Adegboye Onigbinde has blamed the Nigeria Football Federation for the publicity mess of the international allegiance negotiation with Swansea loanee forward, Tammy Abraham, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

A picture of the Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick with the Swansea loanee from Chelsea went viral on Thursday prompting football personalities to express their opinions on the development.

Tammy Abraham put out a statement hinting he is still available for international football in the colours of England following efforts by the Nigeria Football Federation to have him switch allegiance to Nigeria

“Yes, we should beg them since there is no meaningful, functional developmental programme at home in Nigeria. It’s the football Federation’s fault here,” Onigbinde said furiously during an exclusive chat with Completesportsnigeria.com on Friday morning.

“If we have had functional development programme, no player would be in position to take Nigeria to ransom. Ideally, the nucleus of the national team should be home-based.That is what I have always said, but nobody seems to be interested in taking that piece of advise.

“Why won’t the young man make the statement on social media. I do not really blame him. What happens to the many talents in the Nigerian league back home. There are good players of Nigerian descent abroad quite alright but it seems they are practically begged to represent Nigeria now.

“South Africa came to beat us on our ground with nine home-based players in their lineup, and we got the result we deserved with our foreign based players,” the football technocrat concluded.

The Super Eagles squad list for the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Zambia in Uyo is expected to be released next week.

All these are speculations. Just like a transfer deal. talks will continue. The process is on.

Still on Tammy's issue. Let's X-ray nff's most recent official statement, and Tammy's denying the news, so we can deduce what's really going on here.

PINNICK(NFF):

“Most recently, there was a meeting with Tammy, which Tammy’s agent, Neil Fewills also attended. It was a useful meeting, and I can say the talks are at an appreciable level now and all is looking good."

Meaning: there was a meeting and details of an important attendee was revealed, showing this was more than a family meeting. Pinnick never said the boy has agreed, but that it was heading our direction.

“Tammy is like a son to me, because his father was my childhood friend. I believe he is a good prospect for the Super Eagles and the effort is well worth it.”

Meaning: Pinnick is stressing the family ties he has with the boy, and that making such effort will hardly be futile.

“Another source at the said meeting confirmed to thenff.com that Moses actually called in during the meeting to lend a voice to the call for Tammy to opt to fly with the Eagles rather than hunt with the Lions.” -- thenff.com

Meaning: Moses must have been aware of the meeting to call just right in time to lend his voice, as a player Tammy likely looks up to in Chelsea, and also a player who has himself made a switch from England in the past.

TAMMY ABRAHAM:
"Contrary to reports in the media today I would like to clarify that I have not agreed to switch my national team allegiance."

Meaning: It's pretty clear that he is saying the media is saying he has decided to switch allegiance to Nigeria.

"I can confirm I met the President of the NFF after our last game against Tottenham at Wembley on Saturday given he is a friend of my father."

Meaning: Yes, it is true that we met. But it's only by virtue of his father being a friend to Pinnick -- and nothing more. Maybe implying a switch was not discussed, or better yet, he does not want to talk about what really was discussed, or if it was discussed.

"However, any suggestion that I have made a decision to change my international representation is incorrect and wide of the mark."

Meaning: [If it was discussed] he did not make a decision. Or it wasn't discussed at all.

Now let's put both reports together and make some deductions

1. Media reports that Tammy had made a switch is clearly untrue. Before then Pinnick had only shown confidence that he knew what to do. And he again reiterated it in other words saying the efforts is well worth it. Did Pinnick ever say that Tammy has agreed to play for Nigeria? My answer is no.

2. Tammy seems to have hidden details of the actual meeting, and did not make any reference to his agent being there or Moses calling. And my view is that, it is a professional way to keep ongoing allegiance talks to his chest.

3. Tammy in fact is still in the England U21 set up. Saying he is still available for selection is in line with him saying he did not make a decision to switch - which is the fact - because that report was only based on Nigerian media speculations. That is in no way turning down the chance to play for the Super Eagles in future.

4. Tammy seems to be giving the English press the idea that his father's relationship with Pinnick has little or no influence on his decision. This is in line with the English culture I assume. But this could hardly be true. In my opinion, he is simply trying to appeal, but not reveal the reality.

Conclusion: Tammy's remarks is in no way a slap to the face of Pinnick or Nigeria. As he has not turned down Nigeria either, he only denied the reports that he has made a switch. There are no signs that the ongoing allegiance talk and switching process will be halted, unless Tammy's father tells Pinnick his son has decided against the move. I suspect at this point, all parties will keep this matter on the low.

Looking to the Future: I expect Tammy will be called up again for the England U21s. His showing up will calm all nerves and the matter will die down. I also expect that Tammy's change of allegiance will be made known after FIFA gives him the nod to represent Nigeria.

My brother that's the pressure you and I are talking about. He and his family are not stupid. Did the calls come before now?
It's too much pressure for the lad.. they need to calm the situation and silence all those talks in the media. And he has already done the needed, by saying he is available for England. Nothing is official yet, more like a transfer situation. At the end of the day he needs to answer to the English press, and deal with the English public, and not the Nigerian press or Nigerians. So he handled the situation well. Now he can focus on his club football.

Will England call him? Will he honor? Let's wait and see

tbaba1234:
Do you know how many phone calls, the boy must have received today... The chances of him playing for Nigeria has reduced drastically. England will cap him soon.

Besides England just dey show their head now because the news is everywhere in the media. I'm sure they had no immediate senior plan for the boy before now. What Tammy has said should keep them comfortable.

Let England feel comfortable for now.

Tammy will play for us. Trust me, if I were Tammy I would say the same.. it's too early to be in the English media for that 'bad' reason. He doesn't need that distraction. Meanwhile the application process with FIFA will continue. Abi do we think the boy will do against the wish of his family.

England are already putting pressure on him, the best way to calm all this is to say he is still in allegiance with England. shekina

tbaba1234:
"Y'all have no idea the pressure these guys are under NOT to declare for Nigeria. Esp these kids in England. We have to be cleverer here... Nigeria looking to recruit Everton and Liverpool stars

Scott Morris
By Scott Morris
on Thursday, September 21, 2017
Continuing momentum
Nigeria officials are looking to continue their recruitment drive after securing the allegiance of Chelsea star Tammy Abraham.

That will come in the form of two stars on Merseyside, Ademola Lookman and Dominic Solanke who both have Nigerian heritage.

The nation are looking to snap up youngsters in the English setup and convince them to switch to Nigeria to boost their international hopes.

Having already convinced Victor Moses and Alex Iwobi over the years, Nigeria officials are set to win the battle to sign Tammy Abraham after talks.

The player has a very bright future in the game and is currently on loan at Swansea to gain some Premier League experience.

Now, following Abraham’s switch, Ademola Lookman and Dominic Solanke are next on the list in what could be a huge coup.

Lookman is looking impressive for Everton at the moment despite his lack of full games but is a very promising talent nonetheless.

The forward scored a brilliant goal against Tottenham U23’s in the youth sides and was given a chance off the bench against Sunderland on Wednesday.

Dominic Solanke is also in a similar position to Lookman following his move from Chelsea to Anfield.

The Liverpool man impressed in pre-season and has played some games for Liverpool but not as many as he would have liked.

Regardless, Nigerian officials will have pulled off a huge coup if they are able to convince the two players to switch allegiances from England to Nigeria.

Okay they shouldn't loose sleep over Tammy then.. lol

junnyjake:
Rashford has done enough to capture headlines.

He scored a brace on his first game which was also his first European game.

He went ahead to score another brace on his premier league debut against Arsenal.

Scored on his domestic cup debuts.

His first game for the U21, he scored too, and also for the senior side too.

And he still has not stopped scoring.

Dele Alli has done well, he scored over 20 goals last season, he's getting a fair share of the publicity and he's not fully English.

And for Nacho, timing just wasn't on his side at the time, Rashford would surely dominate the headlines.

He didn't get playing time as much as he wanted last year, had guardiola given Nacho more game time, he'd have been in the news for a while.

Martin Keown – I’m A Bit Disappointed In Tammy Abraham Decision To Snub England for Nigeria

Former England international defender Martin Keown has voiced his disappointment over the decision of England Youth International striker Tammy Abraham who has agreed to switch allegiance to Nigeria.

Already Nigeria have started processing his switch and he could make his debut for them in the World Cup 2018 Qualifiers tie against Algeria, If Nigeria are able to secure qualification with a win against Zambia next month.

On loan to Swansea City from Chelsea, the 19 year old who represented England at the recently concluded European Championship, and even scored for the team last month is widely regarded as one of the finest teen strikers in England at the moment.

Keown while responding to questions on Tackle Keown which was conducted by the Dailmail.co.uk revealed his disappointment in the lad, as he few views him as a prospect who could be of immense important to England in the future.

Read his statement below.

I feel a little bit disappointed by that.

Gareth Southgate will know him well from their time together at the Under-21s. England have put a lot of time and effort into him, and realistically he is only at the start of his career. I don’t know why he feels he has to make that decision right now.

I get it – you have a strong pull from your parents. He was born to Nigerian parents. I’m sure he feels as Nigerian as he does English.

We lost Iwobi to Nigeria as well, Zaha has just started playing for the Ivory Coast.

He’s a huge talent and he’s developing nicely, but he’s still only a young boy. It’s a premature decision. It would be a really disappointing thing for the English FA if he went off and played for Nigeria.

The likes of Abraham, when they go to the big clubs, they become frustrated. He’s now seeing the lights at Swansea, having impressed at Bristol City. He’s now seeing that nothing beats playing.

It makes sense to want to play internationally too. He would have been brought up with the dual nationality. I had the same thing – my parents are Irish. Even to this day I feel as Irish as I do English.

My dad said to me that you play for the country you were born in. He made that decision for me. Who are we to judge Abraham for this? But he does need to be made to feel that there is a light at the end of the tunnel for him in terms of England.
