Mindfulness:
You two have my RESPECT!
We must be very careful about the things we're open to. Being open can have disastrous consequences... A man who opens his mind to anything, will find out that anything can take over his mind.

So, sometimes, being open is cool, sometimes its not, that's why we must allow reason and logic to be our guide.

I'll say open mindedness was one of the reason that help the spread of homosexuality.

I would like to say I respect your honesty here. Sometimes, I think we are all guilty of debating for the sake of being right, I won vs I lost. Your honesty here is being open to consider a different point view. That is the most anyone can ask and you have granted that. Consideration is different from acceptance and people confuse the two.
The labels, gay, feminist, misogynist, black, white, aethist, Christian, muslim..all serve to divide and focus on our differences. No wonder we are always fighting, everyone is too busy pointing it out and as such can't see the commonalities as well.

I wouldn't know man, I've never met one.

Doesn't mean we should let serial killing become legal though on the grounds that serial killers are still humans, I get your point... gringrin

I'll tell you something, the person I love most in the world is different to the norm.
But he taught me that different is simply that, different ..not flawed. Maybe a starting point to help accept at the minimum is to look beyond what divides us and focus on our commonalities.
Tell me crackhaus, what do you have in common with a serial killer? aside from the obvious fact you both are human beings?

crackhaus:
Hmmmm.
It isn't everyday crackhaus can't seem to know how to respond to a comment on NL... This is new! cheesy

Not like I'm completely won over though, but this was a real good emotional delivery on your part enough to want to make anyone ponder for a while.

And to think you're neither gay nor feminist says a lot too... gringrin

I don't care about your hypocrisy, I merely pointed it out to you.
And how did you point it out to me? You only said my hypocrisy, you never mentioned it, did you?

Crackie, but when we were kids, we weren't privy to know how our parents did or what they did behind closed doors. So that is one point, we don't expose our sexual shenighans to kids.
That was then, this is now. I tell you, kids of today know more than we did when we were kids, all thanks for the information age.

2)if a father can raise a child himself, then it shouldn't matter if there was another guy in the same household.
Men are already doing it by themselves.
Yes men are raising kids alone, single parents are everywhere, but you still can't deny that kids who grew up under the care and attention of loving parents (man and woman) tend to be happier and those who don't.

3) so if we don't show kids our sex lives (hetero or homo), and we have single parents of either sex raising children, then it shouldn't be a problem to have more than one adult of the same sex in the household. It has nothing to do with providing care and love and raising the child
I'm telling you the kid will ask questions? Imagine having a kid ask his dad: "dad, how come I don't have a mummy?". You think telling the kid she was the result of an experiment will make the kid smile?

If you don't care about what I think, why do you care about my hypocrisy? Don't tell me it gives you more reason to hate men? Lol.

This same hediot was empathising with tbillz when he was ranting all over the place, why are most Nigerian men so hypocritical? Why do you people hate women like this?

A stupid man called his MIL witch on instagram, accused his wife of all sorts and you are saying his wife shoulda protected him? Thunder fire that your mouth there.
Honestly babe, I think you have serious issues... My likeness for you is slowly slipping away after reading this comment.

90% of ladies that like a guy must have at one point or the other entertained the thought of böning him. . . .the other 10% are either having problems in surmounting their moral scuttles and whatnot.

lolol@emboldened
Well be that as it may, you'll be surprised the same percentage of girls don't even entertained such thoughts...

you saw what happened betwixt Tiwa Savage and Tunji despite their piquant nuptials in Dubai. . . .relationships and marriage in this modern day society now seems like a total scam. . . .
Well Tiwa and Tunji lead fake lives, when you live for the camera, you tend to let the flash light from the camera blind you from seeing reality.

come on Joe, are you a learner? she calls and messages you frequently, she smiles at your very dry jokes, she looks for the sheerest opportunity to touch/hold you, she doesn't seem offended or froth at the mouth when you make sexual jokes and innuendos, she asks if she can come to your house to study or play video games etcetera etcetera etcetera

the eye is the window to the soul.
if you wanna know how a dame really feels about then study at her eyes sedulously !!! grin
LMAO. Dude, you humor me, did it ever occur to you that a girl might like you sincerely without having sexual attraction for you? Just because she does all this doesn't mean she wants to bone you, trust me dude, I know. And I'm speaking from experience.

And stop that eye whatever, it doesn't apply to nigerian women, at least, most of them.

taking advantage how? when a girl says she likes me i make it crystal clear to her from the outset that i don't do girlfriends or fancy relationship commitments. . . i will tell her we can be friends with benefits. . if she is an epicurean like myself then we would both have fün consensually. nobody's taking advantage of anyone.
Okay, I like the Texan attitude. grin
...c'mon Free. Whatever I thought of you,I always considered you better than this. You started so assertively on this thread too grin?
All the bluster around "the law must do this...fundamental human rights...exclude culture & religion...consenting adults etc. etc". And now this huh cheesy

No be me talk am 0! Although that runaway bride aside is loaded with meaning wink

I read all your posts. It was on the basis of that that I posed you 4 questions, or 3, as 2 & 4 are essentially the same question from different angles.

1. Pray tell Free, where did the law conjure up marriage from? Was it created ex-nihilo? Or did it merely codify an existing cultural or religious custom?
Obviously from religion of traditional sources, never forget, before religion, there was tradition, and before modern law, there was religion and tradition, marriage itself predates modern law.

So I believe the law (modern law) did as the emboldened signify.

2. And again, why the arbitrary number "2"? Or, to put it this way, if you believe that 2 consenting men together does no harm, what is the harm if it is 3 or more consenting men. What difference does that make? Why is marriage restricted to 2 people?
Marriage isn't restricted to 2 people, only the whites man unfair law restricts it to two people. If you ask me, I'll say, (hypnotically) that the restriction to 2 has a lot to do with 'population' control.

3. Why does the law (or society by way of the law) involve itself in marriage anyway?
Because, society from time in memorial, have never been able to mind their business. 'Control' is the watch word. A man who is told how he bleeps, whom he bleeps, whom he is allowed and not allowed to fuck_ is a marionette.

4. What is the difference between 2 consenting, adult men and 3, that the law cannot handle? And as they fulfil your criteria - adult,
consenting - how can they be denied the same recognition?
Now I wouldn't know the extent to which the Western law works, but the african law have always been able to handle 3 consenting adult, that is, one man and two women. Uhuru Africa!!!!

You answered #1 - in which you basically debunked your own odd assertion that the law must totally exclude culture and religion, and now you've demurred.
My hope changed, but my expectations didn't.

TV
I don't understand the emboldened. Kindly elucidate.
