PoliticsVIDEO: Afenifere To Tinubu: We Yoruba People Know It Is Not Our Turn by Joevics(op): 11:04am On Feb 05, 2023

The southern and middle belt leaders spoke, expressing their desire to have Peter Obi as their candidate.
In this conference, the leaders are reaffirming their support for the Labour Party's candidate. They explained why Peter Obi remains the best candidate.

While speaking on the occasion, Bitrus Pogu, who is the President of the Middle Belt Forum, said, "Peter Obi serves our purpose, not only for equity, fairness and justice. But looking at the political terrain, he stands out as the best material out there. That we can market to Nigerians and say, bring whoever you want and let us match them one by one."

While speaking on this issue, Sola Ebiseni, Secretary General of Afenifere, said, "They are not saying it is the turn of the Yoruba, because they know that, we Yoruba people know it is not our turn, but they have personalized it and said it is their turn.

"And we are saying it cannot be their turn, as long as they are coming out in the name of the Yoruba."

But they had to end the campaign quickly due to shouts of Obi, Obi, Obi....

For those who who don't understand Igbo, one of the men said, "we will all vote for Obi for president, but there are other positions."

But that didn't deter the crowd.

PoliticsPunch: Ondo Apc, Pdp, Sdp Chieftains Defect To Lp by Joevics(op): 4:42pm On Feb 01, 2023
A few weeks before the general election, members and chieftains of some major political parties in Ondo State have defected to the Labour Party.

The defectors are from the All Progressives Congress, the Peoples Democratic Party and the Social Democratic Party in the Akoko South-East/Akoko South-West Federal Constituency of the state.

At the event, held in Isua Akoko, the headquarters of the Akoko South-East Local Government Area of the state, the defectors also declared support for the presidential candidate of the LP, Mr Peter Obi.

One of the leaders of the defectors and former House of Representatives aspirant of the APC, Mr Stephen Adeyeri, said Obi’s impeccable track records coupled with his detailed manifesto containing the solutions to myriads of challenges troubling the nation, spurred him and his supporters to join the Labour Party and openly declared his firm support for the presidential candidate.

Adeyeri, who predicted landslide victory for Obi, said Nigerians were fed up with the two major political parties (the PDP and the APC), which, he said, had failed woefully in the administration of the affairs of the nation. He stressed that the only better alternative was the LP.

He said, “Obi is the candidate to beat because he has proven to be competent among other candidates. His records, while he held sway in Anambra is in the public domain, he didn’t get all of that by subterfuge but by the dint of hard work.

“I’m here to sell the candidacy of Obi to my supporters, and I told them the reason why he must be elected, particularly his plans to move the country from consumption to the state of production.”

According to him, a competent hand is needed to change the fortunes of the country for the better. He pointed out that the solution to the myriad of challenges ranging from fuel scarcity, dearth of electricity, hunger and host of others troubling residents would soon be things of the past if Peter Obi was elected as the president of the country.

Adeyeri noted that it would amount to “absurdity if those who weaponised poverty on innocent residents have their ways again”, and he urged the supporters to vote all the candidates of the party (Labour Party) in the forthcoming general election.

Earlier, the LP’s state secretary, Mr. Agabje Abiodun, who welcomed the defectors from the APC, PDP and SDP into the party, advised them to vigorously campaign for the LP in the nooks and crannies of the state.

He stated that the immediate past Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, had creditably performed well when he governed the sunshine state under the platform of the Labour Party from 2009-2014, hence Labour Party must be voted based on antecedents.

He said, “Labour Party is the only fast growing party in Nigeria; we can see how people are trooping to join the Obi’s movement. When Mimiko was governor, can you compare his performance with that of the present administration that has failed to meet the expectations of the people?

“People are tired of the present situation. Adeyeri has said it all, residents are suffering, no fuel, steep price of food items among others are bedevilling everybody, even the APC members are lamenting the ostentatious hardship.”

PoliticsRe: LP Chairman: How Obi Sidelined Indigenes In Sokoto/zamfara And Picked Igbos by Joevics(m):
Lol. Obi is no stranger on politics.
Politics is about working with people you trust, and who have shown passion about your campaign.

Okupe insisted on making an Igbo man the coordinator in Sokoto because most northern politicians, especially traditional LP members, find it easy to betray you for their own benefits.

They are used to selling out to the highest bidder.

This one must have likely made a deal with Tambuwal to decamp to PDP in the coming days, and tell us how LP has no structures.

It was just yesterday that the one in Gombe or so, decamped to PDP.
Thank God Peter Obi doesn't rely on them.
He should keep wailing.

You do know that only Peter Obi has a pathway to victory right? Tinubu doesn't know if Yorubas (Christians especially) and northerners would actually vote for him.
Atiku doesn't know if they'll choose him over Kwakwanso.

Only Peter Obi is certain of getting at least 90% of Igbo votes, which is spread across every town in Nigeria.
But of course. Again, lessons.

I don’t need to remind anyone on Nairaland that I’m Obidient, do I?

However, after seeing pictures and clips of Peter Obi campaigns in the (core) North, and the impressive crowd who grace his campaign rallies, I’m constrained to ask if he has now started buying crowd.

I mean, do you recall Kano rally? What of Kaduna? Borno nko? And now Jigawa where the governorship candidate and all House of Assembly Candidates left to APC?

I’m surprised because in my projections of places that will give Obi the votes he needs to win, I have not always counted places like Kano, Jigawa, etc, but pictures of Obi campaign in those places seem to be suggesting otherwise.

So, what is happening in the north? Has Obi, like others, resorted to buying crowd or is he really getting real supporters up north where we were meant to believe that nobody knows him?
Peter Obi has thousands of support groups all over the country. LP has more support groups than any other party. When you add that to the non-indegines in northern Nigeria who are all Obidient, you'll start to see why he's attracting that much crowd.

Mind you, once anyone is Obidient, they become fanatics. They make out time to attend rallies and even spend their money to ensure Obi wins. That can't be said for Balabu and Mr. SPV.

Lol. Ogoni's loves Abe no doubt. But don't say, they always vote for whoever he chooses. It's insulting.
You won't even say this if you know how popular Peter Obi is in Rivers state, and how unpopular Tinubu is in the south-south.
BTW, Is Abe campaigning for Tinubu or just paying lip service? If Abe was campaigning for Tinubu, he would have invited him to Ogoni land for a rally. Show me one Abe video where he is campaigning for Tinubu.
Lol. Ogoni people are still waiting for APC to come and complete their cleanup, and you think they'll vote for Tinubu.

The problem with APC, and why Tinubu would likely lose is the dependence on people like Abe and Asari to pull him through. If Buhari remains neutral, Wike would cage all those people in their poling unit.

Lol. Militants don't vote. Asari dokubo won't be allowed to leave his LGA on election day.
And what do you think? That Rivers people rate someone like Asari. Even Ateke tom can't tell people whom to vote

Kalabaris are one of the most sophisticated people in Rivers state. Tinubu won't get 10% in all of those LGAs. Buhari has to use the military to invade those areas and change the results.

And don't waste your time about Ogoni. They'll vote for Abe. But would never vote for APC at federal level again. I have over 100 Ogoni friends in Khana and everywhere. They are all supporting PeterObi.

Lol. Oyigbo is Abiriba. HQ of IPOB. Don't bother. Abua odual and Etche will be determined by Wike's GDi.

Lol. Kwakwanso has always been under pressure to step down for Atiku. And he has said, he won't.
Why do you think Atiku paid for all those ridiculous articles about 600k people moving from NNPP to PDP?
It's to force Kwakwanso to step down. But would he? The answer is NO.
Kwakwanso's stepping down will affect his son-in-law's chances as governor of Kano.
The election can go into a rerun, where he will negotiate a better deal for himself, whilst winning the governoship and other positions.

Now, if Kwakwanso steps down, he will demoralise his followers, making them open to infiltration from Obi and Tinubu, even if he endorses Atiku.

PoliticsWabba: NLC Support For Peter Obi Hasn’t Changed by Joevics(op): 7:42am On Jan 27, 2023
The organised labour on Thursday said that its decision to support the Labour Party, LP, Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi and his running mate Datti Ahmed was sacrosanct.

The organised labour under the aegis of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, said that Nigerian workers will only vote for candidates that are workers friendly in the forthcoming elections.

This is as the NLC has demanded an urgent action from the nation’s apex bank the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to review the Naira Redesign policy including the extension of its timelines.

Speaking during an interactive session with labour reporters in in Abuja, the out-going President of the NLC, Comrade Ayuba Wabba said that people are tired of all bad governance and the pain it has inflicted on the masses over the years.

He urged workers in the country to ensure that they use their votes to install credible leadership in the coming general election.

He said that workers should ensure that they deny political parties and candidates with anti people policies access to power.

He said that workers are in large numbers in the country and there is no doubt that their impact will go a long way in installing a popular government in the coming election.

According to him, “We need more workers in politics and at the helm of affairs of government, those who can understand the perspective of workers.

Our workers are already in the field mobilizing and campaigning to make sure that only labour-friendly persons are elected into offices at the next general election. The labour party is already making head-way in Abia state. We are tired of those false promises by politicians,” he said.

Speaking on the resolve of the organised labour to support the Presidential candidate of the Labour party, Peter Obi, NLC president maintained that the decision remained sacrosant and that both the party and the labour movement have sealed the agreement with acceptance of the workers Charter of Demand.

He however said that the support for the Labour Party is not wholesome as the workers reserved the right to deny their support for any candidate that does not pass its integrity test or that goes against its Charter of Demand, especially at the state levels.

Against the background of NLC’s complain against some state governors who it accused of implementing anti workers policies during their tenure, Wabba said workers in the affected states have been asked to reject the candidates being sponsored by them at the elections.

On the 31st January deadline for the withdrawal of old naira notes with the new redesigned ones, Wabba demanded an urgent action to review the policy being implemented by the Central Bank of Nigeria, including the extension of it’s timelines.

Asked to comment on the Naira Redesign policy, he described it as crisis-riden, adding that the policy has created additional hardship for the poor Nigerians, especially those living in the rural areas.
He said that NLC is aligning itself to the position expressed by the Senate on the need to rejig the policy.

According to Wabba, NLC has written President Muhammadu Buhari and the CBN Governor demanding urgent measures to address the challenges posed by the implementation of the policy.

He said, ” I mean, they are not enough new Naira notes in circulation and the old notes are being rejected, they are pushing people to the wall and very soon people will react.

“More importantly, even in city centres, where we have banks, the banks are not dispensing. If you go to do rural areas and see the chaotic nature of how people have come with their money even to change it is becoming a problem.

“No policy will be meant actually to haunt people like what is happening now. And we have called on the government to look at this issue very carefully before it leads to a major crisis,” he said.

The NLC president whose tenure will end in February this year, was taken up on some of government policies that generated labour dispute under his watch and which were yet to be resolved.

One of such issues was the unresolved negotiation on the right pricing of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) of which final agreement was not reached before the current price increases.

When asked to comment on the situation, Wabba blamed the federal government for not coming clean on its position on measures that would effectively put an end to the energy crisis.

He said there is currently confusion in the domestic petrol distribution system, to the extent that the regulatory bodies charged with the function of check the excesses of marketers are not doing anything about it.

The outgoing NLC President also blamed the federal government for not acceding to labour movement’s proposal to review the gas pricing template that is fueling the persistent hike in electricity tariff.

He explained that due to the gas price that is being calculated based on Dollar, the electricity generating companies are finding justification to always hike their tariff.

Wabba, who used the opportunity to review achievements and challenges of his tenure at the helm of affairs of the labour centre, said he has been able to refocus the NLC and revived its structures into a formidable trade Union entity.

He, however expressed regret that some of the efforts made by the NLC to negotiate and find lasting solution to major issues that affects workers welfare did not yield the desired fruit due to the government’s lack of commitment and flexibility to accept workable ideas.
