It's not wrong. It's a contract people willingly sign and are thus bounded by its terms.

That is what i am saying. If these loan companies are following rules and regulations guiding loans, there wouldn't be all these public harassment and blackmailing. There are procedures for loan recovery. Imagine calling loan defaulters all sorts of names. They are predators. They know most people coming to them are wretched of the earth. They know their prey. Masses.

Loan sharks serve a purpose. They are the only ones that would loan money to you without knowing your financial history or demanding a collateral.

We have to follow law, rules and regulation. Anarchy is not good

Loan sharks exist everywhere. They take a huge risk of loaning money to people they have never met or know. There is a reason why their interest rates are very high and they employ unorthodox means to get their money. They operate the same globally. Some, a little worse than others.

I would never advise my enemy to use a loan shark. But, if you ever have to, it's important that you understand what you're getting into. Most Nigerians like the allure of "Free money." These loan sharks are just beating some mischievous Nigerians to their own game.

See as you open your mouth wa and say "no credit history"

What do there use bvn to do?

BVN? BVN (Bank VERIFICATION number) is only a financial identification & record system and not a credit record/rating system.

Eduate yourself, please!

there are laws regulating loan/interest rates in Nigeria, let the loan apps follow the laws and regulation. According to the law, no lender can prosecute any defaulter until after 1 year of owing, according to the law and regulation in Nigeria, interest rate is maximum of 48% per annum which is 4% monthly. wicked lenders and their agents loan their money out to receive interest as high as 50% weekly /monthly plus capital. That is unspeakable evil of man to another man and if you cannot see it then it is because you yourself are part of this grave wickedness to humanity, they all know their business is wicked that is why they are hiding from CBN and others regulators,
(Modify) (Quote) (Report) (Share)

Stop quoting law. Nobody forces anybody to take a loan. The person should have taken from their bank then or a more reputable loan agency. I don't support loan sharks, but If you decide to play their game then you have to play by their rules.

You think it's easy to loan strangers money with no credit history or collateral?

Convert and store the solar energy to other form of energy for use when there is no sunlight.
More like power bank but bigger.

You miss the point.

Power banks are made of batteries and they wear out over time. They need to be replaced every 2 to 3 years. That's added maintenence cost. Plus batteries can't really deal with high energy surges like grid systems do.

The idea is people need power most in the evenings when the sun is down, this is when the batteries experience the most stress.

Do you know how huge 2MW really is?

Lemme give you an example.

If on the average, let's say a household uses 1KW of solar power on a daily basis, it means that 2MW can power:

2MW÷1KW = 2 000 000W ÷ 1 000W =
2 000 households.

You'll never really get 2MW, unless on very sunny days. Then what happens when the sun dies down?

You will also have to replace those batteries every 2-3 years.

Solar power is best for small installations. The larger the installation is, the more expensive and somewhat less economical solar gets, compared to gas and hydro power.

P.S I have a solar installation at home.

I'm highly disappointed in Nigerians.
A THREAD that was posted since yet see the few posts trickling in.
Such a highly educative post, you wouldn't find people rushing in to comment especially those who crave to be RICH few years from now.

But when issues of SEXUAL FANTASIES & SNAKES are posted, You would see people craving to be the first to post. Most times we blame the moderators for pushing stupid sexual fantasies to the front-page, little did we know the already knew what the majority and masses wanted.

Most Nigerians are sadly not very smart people.

Little wonder Buhari is our president.

When common sense eludes how would it have anything to do with the conversation

The reference was if some people are leaving planet earth and going to to set up life therr that’s how advanced the world has become

A lot of things in this life are very hard to to power generation isn’t one of them

We are talking about solving pracrical problems you are talking about a country being a hell hole so the Empty space people are traveling no be hell hole, is it not practical solutions to the pracrical problems you encounter in space that you will end up solving

For some reason, I am enjoying this ridiculous engagement we're having.

You have a penchant for joining unrelated conversations.

What I mean by hellhole is to adjust your expectations based on the current reality.

Nigeria is a poor and badly managed third world country that has been marred by bad leadership and a docile population.

Fair enough some people are travelling to mars, good for them. We have different problems to fix. For some it's mars, for others it's water, roads and electricity.

On a second note Even the 2 GW is even absurd for a population of just 200 million people , when we don’t want to fry them to death inside thier house

The quote being ready means with the right visiionable leaders the right steps can be made

Even rouge nations like North Korea and China will easily help you

Asking for help and not gettin help is different from keeping your mouth shut and suffering in silence

Power genenration is a 18th century problem

If there is a 18th century problem some countries overcame in the 18th century and you are still battling with it in 2021, then simply go to the countries that solved their problems 300 years ago and ask for help

Power generation is simply engineering

Rocket science isn’t

By 2024, some people are planning to go and live in mars and stay there indefinitely , is it grass they will be eating throughout and is magic they will be using to power thier applicances throughtout

That’s the problem with you village people, you don’t know how advanced the world is now

Any suggestion that tries solve Nigerian problems once and for all you keep arguing blindlessly like you know what you are talking about

It’s even more unfortunate People like you also hold the realm of power and their reasoning is very limited like yours, who told you 1 dollar must be equal to 1 naira before things start working right

Where did you get that one from

Since we can make magic happen once we're "ready" according to you.

For context, since I don't like to argue blindly, the three gorges dam, the biggest hydroelectric dam in the world, took 12 years to build and generates 22,500MW of power.

It took the Chinese 12 years of slave labour and careful planning to achieve that.
Now, if you know anything about power plants you'll understand that they require a lot of money, considerable time and skill to build.

Those nations you're mentioning gradually increased their power capacity over the years and they didn't wake up one day with enough energy for their needs.

What have your country been doing since 1960? Why has it been able to add less than 10000MW in 50 years?

Also, mars has nothing to do with this conversation. Nigeria is a third world hellhole, understand this fact first.

I stopped reading when I got to the GEJ, APC, PDP this that
Politicians milking the country dry
Nigeria borrowing to pay workers salary

Did you even comprehend my initial write up in the first place

Young man Nigerian currently generates 12,000 megawatts of electricity right

I repeat if you want times 10 of that built in this Nigeria you will get it

If you are ready

If solving Nigerian power problem for instance will cost 100 million of dollars then this is why I said Nigeria can seek help if she is ready about

Elon musk and Jeff bezos wrapped themselves in one funny shaped tube and went to space for like 3 minutes and 1 billion dollars don finish

All American fighter jets costs millions of dollars and The US only uses them to kill people

So pls don’t even annoy me with GEJ OR ANY POLITICS gist , i repeat if Nigeria wants unlimited power supply built within the next 2 months she will get it ASAP

You clearly have no idea what 2GW is. And you clearly don't understand Engineering and power plants. Please read up and stop insulting your education.

Nigeria isn't America. It's a poor third world country. Stop screaming America and Elon Musk, they have no interest in developing your corrupt country. Nigeria is a sovereign state. Nobody is going to come and rescue you.

It's laughable that you think you can force developemt that takes decades of planning to happen to exist in two months as long as "you're ready."

It's people like you that believed a naira could be equal to a dollar when we are "ready."

The right thing to do is to make dangote refinery the 5th working refinery

Honestly education is really important for good leadership and exposure

No reason why even if it is North Korea you approach and you hold your hands up high and say pls we help with our refineries we don’t have money to fix it but we have Crude oil

It doesn’t matter if North Korea says its flag must be on the naira note in return

Honestly whenever you need help you ask for it

All the countries that became independent in the 1960,s are the most useless countries on planet earth today

In life you must always do the right thing

Power generation is a 18th century Benjamin Franklin problem if you want 200,000 mega watts of electricity some countries can build the powe plant for you within 2 months

That’s if you are ready oo

This country is being run with fear in an unglobilised manner

All Nigeria just wants to do is sell its crude oil use the money to fund Nigerian needs if it’s not enough cry that it is not enough and devalue the naira to make it sufficient

It’s really sad

You make salient points but you demonstrate a crude understanding of economics and infrastructure.

1. You cannot build a 2GW power plant in 2 months. That's an absolutely ridiculous thing to say. Solving Nigeria's power issue will cost 100's of millions of dollars and will take at least a decade. Again, money Nigeria does not have.

2. Nigeria's refinery not working is more of a political problem. Because a few people are happy with the status quo.
Even at that, a lot of the money that should be used to fix refineries have been pilfered. Nigeria currently borrows to pay its own workers and run a very bloated government.

Subsidy has to go because it simply cannot be sustained. Whether you like APC or not it's the truth. GEJ should have went through with it in 2012. The biggest winners from subsidy aren't the masses or the cheap fuel they 'enjoy,' It's those with fuel import licenses fleecing the country dry.

I don't understand how Nigerians expect stellar service from a grossly underpaid, undertrained, under-equipped and understaffed police force. You ignorantly lambast a police force that was set up to fail from the very start.

I'm usually very economical with my criticisms of the police force in general. I understand that it's a very unattractive and risky job, especially in Nigeria, where it comes with all the risk and none of the perks.

Most people that criticize the police in Nigeria, would never join the force in it's current state.

If you want to see better policing and protection of lives and properties, then the entire structure has to be revamped. From training to salaries, to staffing, welfare and discipline. It's no easy task to put your life on the line for people you barely even know. Some people would never do it for all the money in the world.

Until the police force becomes an establishment that the average youth would be proud to join, then expect nothing from it. Garbage in, garbage out.

As for Buhari, I have nothing to say. I just hope that in 2023 we all learn and do better.

Nigerians don't like accountability. The leaders are only a mirror of the people they lead. We have so many weak institutions because there are simply no checks and balances.

All this ruckus because a financial institution rightfully flagged an account due to a suspicious transaction? Financial institutions flag transactions for different reasons, it's not just about the sum of the money.

The person with the said blocked account can tender the required evidence and they should be absolved of any wrongdoing.

If it's about cryptocurrency, then banks have been explicitly warned by CBN not to facilitate crypto currency transactions of any kind. People should take it up with CBN and Emiefele and not Kuda.

I don't support the stupid herd mentality brewing on social media, neither do I have any incentive to support or crucify Kuda.

I will continue to use my Kuda account until I have a substantial reason not to do so.

Sounds like a fair bargain to me. Steal 2 billion and get out in 8 years. Most people would never make 2 billion in 5 lifetimes.

Despite knowing the full implication of Maina's fraud and the pain it caused millions of homes in Nigeria, the Judge only saw it fit to sentence a man who jumped bail twice to only 8 years in prison.

Crime / Re: Why Do Nigerians Hate Paying Their Debt? by joey150(m): 8:19am On Nov 05, 2021
Never deal with a typical Nigerian without a 'fail safe' option. The average Nigerian thinks they're cunningly smart. They see every 'loophole' as an opportunity to exhibit their callousness and lawlessness, and they shamelessly brag about it when they succeed.

Unfortunately, most Nigerians lack any form of discipline. They are a product of their environment. Government exploits the people, people exploit themselves, vicious cycle. This pathetic behaviour isn't just linked to loan repayment. Nigerians bypass meters, avoid paying taxes, never obey authority, I can go on and on.

Loan sharks are the worst people to borrow from. However, you signed up and agreed to their terms. And since there's no collateral, people think it's free money. Happily borrowing without any plans to repay. Without those threats or embarrassment, most people would never pay. Extreme solution to an extreme problem.
