joyandfaith: Loan sharks exist everywhere. They take a huge risk of loaning money to people they have never met or know. There is a reason why their interest rates are very high and they employ unorthodox means to get their money. They operate the same globally. Some, a little worse than others. I would never advise my enemy to use a loan shark. But, if you ever have to, it's important that you understand what you're getting into. Most Nigerians like the allure of "Free money." These loan sharks are just beating some mischievous Nigerians to their own game. |

mauriceju2: Stop quoting law. Nobody forces anybody to take a loan. The person should have taken from their bank then or a more reputable loan agency. I don't support loan sharks, but If you decide to play their game then you have to play by their rules. You think it's easy to loan strangers money with no credit history or collateral? 4 Likes 1 Share |
Politics / Re: Obasanjo Launches 2MW Solar Power Plant In Abeokuta by joey150(m): 9:54pm On Nov 27, 2021 |
sonnie10: You miss the point. Power banks are made of batteries and they wear out over time. They need to be replaced every 2 to 3 years. That's added maintenence cost. Plus batteries can't really deal with high energy surges like grid systems do. The idea is people need power most in the evenings when the sun is down, this is when the batteries experience the most stress. |

bluefilm: You'll never really get 2MW, unless on very sunny days. Then what happens when the sun dies down? You will also have to replace those batteries every 2-3 years. Solar power is best for small installations. The larger the installation is, the more expensive and somewhat less economical solar gets, compared to gas and hydro power. P.S I have a solar installation at home. |

adonainana: For some reason, I am enjoying this ridiculous engagement we're having. You have a penchant for joining unrelated conversations. What I mean by hellhole is to adjust your expectations based on the current reality. Nigeria is a poor and badly managed third world country that has been marred by bad leadership and a docile population. Fair enough some people are travelling to mars, good for them. We have different problems to fix. For some it's mars, for others it's water, roads and electricity. 1 Like |

adonainana: Since we can make magic happen once we're "ready" according to you. For context, since I don't like to argue blindly, the three gorges dam, the biggest hydroelectric dam in the world, took 12 years to build and generates 22,500MW of power. It took the Chinese 12 years of slave labour and careful planning to achieve that. Now, if you know anything about power plants you'll understand that they require a lot of money, considerable time and skill to build. Those nations you're mentioning gradually increased their power capacity over the years and they didn't wake up one day with enough energy for their needs. What have your country been doing since 1960? Why has it been able to add less than 10000MW in 50 years? Also, mars has nothing to do with this conversation. Nigeria is a third world hellhole, understand this fact first. 1 Like |

adonainana: You clearly have no idea what 2GW is. And you clearly don't understand Engineering and power plants. Please read up and stop insulting your education. Nigeria isn't America. It's a poor third world country. Stop screaming America and Elon Musk, they have no interest in developing your corrupt country. Nigeria is a sovereign state. Nobody is going to come and rescue you. It's laughable that you think you can force developemt that takes decades of planning to happen to exist in two months as long as "you're ready." It's people like you that believed a naira could be equal to a dollar when we are "ready." 1 Like 1 Share |
Politics / Re: Zainab Ahmed: We Can't Continue, Nigeria Losing N250bn Monthly On Fuel Subsidy by joey150(m): 7:18am On Nov 25, 2021 |
adonainana: You make salient points but you demonstrate a crude understanding of economics and infrastructure. 1. You cannot build a 2GW power plant in 2 months. That's an absolutely ridiculous thing to say. Solving Nigeria's power issue will cost 100's of millions of dollars and will take at least a decade. Again, money Nigeria does not have. 2. Nigeria's refinery not working is more of a political problem. Because a few people are happy with the status quo. Even at that, a lot of the money that should be used to fix refineries have been pilfered. Nigeria currently borrows to pay its own workers and run a very bloated government. Subsidy has to go because it simply cannot be sustained. Whether you like APC or not it's the truth. GEJ should have went through with it in 2012. The biggest winners from subsidy aren't the masses or the cheap fuel they 'enjoy,' It's those with fuel import licenses fleecing the country dry. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

picki: Your Profile looks great. Just a few observations: 1. Use your actual picture. Go to a studio and snap a professional looking one if you have to. Just be sure you smile and look friendly. Customers may demand a video call due to the nature of your service. So, just use your actual picture from the get-go. 2. Stay online. Use the fiverr mobile app. Remember to open it and refresh it every few hours. 3. Your response time is 2hours. Try to reply messages ASAP. 4. As a new seller, price your services just slightly below the average in your niche and then offer faster delivery times where possible. Don't give up. All the best. |

Politics / Re: Buhari’s Directive On Police Salary Review Flouted 3 Times by joey150(m): 9:58am On Nov 13, 2021 |
I don't understand how Nigerians expect stellar service from a grossly underpaid, undertrained, under-equipped and understaffed police force. You ignorantly lambast a police force that was set up to fail from the very start. I'm usually very economical with my criticisms of the police force in general. I understand that it's a very unattractive and risky job, especially in Nigeria, where it comes with all the risk and none of the perks. Most people that criticize the police in Nigeria, would never join the force in it's current state. If you want to see better policing and protection of lives and properties, then the entire structure has to be revamped. From training to salaries, to staffing, welfare and discipline. It's no easy task to put your life on the line for people you barely even know. Some people would never do it for all the money in the world. Until the police force becomes an establishment that the average youth would be proud to join, then expect nothing from it. Garbage in, garbage out. As for Buhari, I have nothing to say. I just hope that in 2023 we all learn and do better. 21 Likes 3 Shares |
Business / Re: Kuda Bank Releases Statement On Accusations Of Reporting Clients To EFCC by joey150(m): 7:26am On Nov 12, 2021 |
Nigerians don't like accountability. The leaders are only a mirror of the people they lead. We have so many weak institutions because there are simply no checks and balances. All this ruckus because a financial institution rightfully flagged an account due to a suspicious transaction? Financial institutions flag transactions for different reasons, it's not just about the sum of the money. The person with the said blocked account can tender the required evidence and they should be absolved of any wrongdoing. If it's about cryptocurrency, then banks have been explicitly warned by CBN not to facilitate crypto currency transactions of any kind. People should take it up with CBN and Emiefele and not Kuda. I don't support the stupid herd mentality brewing on social media, neither do I have any incentive to support or crucify Kuda. I will continue to use my Kuda account until I have a substantial reason not to do so. 131 Likes 11 Shares |

Steal 2 billion naira of pensioners money and get only 8 years? Sounds like a fair bargain to me. Steal 2 billion and get out in 8 years. Most people would never make 2 billion in 5 lifetimes. Despite knowing the full implication of Maina's fraud and the pain it caused millions of homes in Nigeria, the Judge only saw it fit to sentence a man who jumped bail twice to only 8 years in prison. Unbelievable!! 21 Likes 3 Shares |
Crime / Re: Why Do Nigerians Hate Paying Their Debt? by joey150(m): 8:19am On Nov 05, 2021 |
Never deal with a typical Nigerian without a 'fail safe' option. The average Nigerian thinks they're cunningly smart. They see every 'loophole' as an opportunity to exhibit their callousness and lawlessness, and they shamelessly brag about it when they succeed. Unfortunately, most Nigerians lack any form of discipline. They are a product of their environment. Government exploits the people, people exploit themselves, vicious cycle. This pathetic behaviour isn't just linked to loan repayment. Nigerians bypass meters, avoid paying taxes, never obey authority, I can go on and on. Loan sharks are the worst people to borrow from. However, you signed up and agreed to their terms. And since there's no collateral, people think it's free money. Happily borrowing without any plans to repay. Without those threats or embarrassment, most people would never pay. Extreme solution to an extreme problem. 171 Likes 16 Shares |

I work in marine shipping and I'm damn surprised and impressed when I see female engineers on board. Truth be told, it's not a job that's suited to women for several reasons. But boy oh boy, you've got to love a woman in the engine room! Although women tend to get special treatment and this unfortunately ends up being more work for everybody else.
