Normally Israel should have the right to express it's strategic concerns. Nothing wrong with that. However I heard israel and america are backing the rebels. Apparently the rebels are not friendly towards hizbollah.

So therefore israel no suppose get mouth when somebody else wants to supply arms to the other side. They should never have butt-in in the first place

dayokanu: Awolowo rather than follow Shagari or Balewa stood on his own

Abiola stood on his own

OBJ stood on his own

Even Tinubu challenged the powers of OBJ

Instead of people bending down and getting rimmed by Any Govt In Power.

Yesterday it was Yar Adua, today na Jonathan
You obviously don't know what you are talking about.

dayokanu: Thats what you get when you are notoriously Any Government in Power

ANy Govt in Power is what Igbos support. No original thoughts, Just follow follow

OBJ come they support, Yar Adua come they support, Balewa come they support, Shagari come they support, Now Retardeen sef, dem don queue behind

No wonder Shagari said the below about the great Zik of Igboland
Its silly motorpark talk to say that Igbos in general are generally AGIP. Many leaders from your part of the country are known as shameless ass humpers to anyone in power but it is childish to generalise. Please grow up. This thread is for intelligent discourse and smart people. If you want a baboon shyte fight I suggest you start a thread

I agree with this 100%. We would be really thick to believe that we are on point politically or that if push comes to shove we are ready for our own country now.

Certain elements within our ranks must be surgically removed from our ranks and squashed or isolated and our priorities restored like they were before the war.we need to tell ourselves the truth more.
Politics › Re: Six Killed In Lagos Communal Clash by joeyfire(m): 7:50am On May 27, 2013
The violence on saturday was as a result of the death of two baale boys killed by Olumegbon thugs. Also the death toll as at last night was nine.
Politics › Re: Six Killed In Lagos Communal Clash by joeyfire(m): 7:38am On May 27, 2013
This fight is an example of what happens when politicians interfere with traditional leadership structures.

Olumegbon is a rich retired political thug trying to usurp the powers of the baale of ajah. A man who can't even trace his ancestry to ajah but has crowned himself king of ajah with Tinubu's backing
Politics › Re: Why Was This Not Covered By Media As Extensively As The British Soldier? by joeyfire(m): 3:27pm On May 25, 2013
It didn't get the attention because the killers were not terrorists and they didnt swear that british people will never be safe to as many people that cared to listen.
Politics › Where Is Our National Security Adviser by joeyfire(op):
Next month will almost mark a year after the late former National Security Adviser Gen. Azazi was relieved of his duties for incompetence (and of course for speaking out about the BH-PDP connection).

I remember that Azazi came under heavy criticism for his inability to find a solution to the BH menace. Some of us thought that his replacement Col. Sambo Dasuki may be able to make some impact based on his understanding of the north, his being a muslim as well as his general qualities. Sadly we saw the insurgency step up their game with the Baga and Bama incidents being the last straw. Today a state of emergency is in place in three states of the federation as a last ditch effort to contain the crisis.

I just wonder why all the people who cursed Azazi day and night for his incompetence have not said anything about Dasuki's failure.

Nairaland General › Re: Does Flogging Have A Place In Modern Nigerian Society? by joeyfire(m): 8:34am On May 25, 2013
Spanking is a Nigerian culture and I'm not sure you can take that away from them irrespective of their level of education.I don't believe in granting children absolute right to be wayward and useless to the society.

Maybe the Adebolajos won't have become terrorists if their parents had spanked that spirit of terror from their blood with a koboko while growing up.Well,Koboko is actually used to reset children to their default settings. grin
I agree with this 100%. My grandad was flogged when he messed up, so was my dad and I in turn. Oyibo kids are generally badly behaved and out of control because their parents have lost control. Why? Because they don't beat their butts.

Almajiri boys are lawless because no parental discipline. Adebolajo too I'm sure wasn't whipped that's why he could degenerate from nice boy to phone thief to running to a fanatical islamist preacher by 18. For naija his dad and uncles for don beat sense back into his head
Politics › Re: Michael Adeboloja 'Mujahid' - One Of Woolwich Attackers Is A British-Nigerian? by joeyfire(m): 10:07am On May 23, 2013
I have been saying it for years that british kids are some of the worst in the world. Their social system has all but collapsed and what you get are 13 year old mums with council flats and a fat allowance, drug fuelled yobs all over the place etc. I remember a story about how some teenagers got plenty of discarded car batteries carried a few to the top of a bridge and threw them down at people walking under the bridge with the heavy things. Luckily no one got hurt.

Now these naija boy has fallen prey to that same broken system. At least in nigeria we can blame poverty. What is his reason for throwing his life away

eko ilee: I had a not so meaningful discussion with the so called new mod about having a word or two with his people because they are primarily responsible for tribalism and bigotry on NL, but he's either yet to have that conversation with his people as advised or he's tribally oblivious of his people's actions...

Obviously he's busy pontificating and over reaching over trivial issues elsewhere. Never fails...
I believe you have a major role to play for the explosion of tribalism on this site. For as long as I can remember once anyone from the SE made a comment not supporting fashola or A.CN you quickly hurl insults at the south east. You almost single handedly turned all PDP vs A.CN debates to igbo vs yoruba. That devilish formula radicalised lots of neutral ppl to bigots and it goes on until today. Now you want to sound objectivehuh

Demdem: Because he surrounds himself with criminals of all sorts. He is also corrupt and governance wise daft.
I disagree. He actually has some extremely bright achievers around him and they are really working hard. I just wonder what happens in between the decision making and tangible results we long to see. To be honest sha I must admit power supply has improved massively
Politics › Re: Why Dont Nigerians Trust And Respect GEJ? by joeyfire(m): 12:04pm On May 18, 2013
OP- I think the primary reason people do not respect GEJ is because after all the support from the masses that brought him to power he removed subsidy at a very sensitive time and generally looks like a continuation of the past failed leaders we have had. His "softie" image didn't do him much good either.

I think this SOE has given his image the biggest boost since he became president because its his first act that shows he has testosterone in his blood.

All in all Nigerians voted for fresh air and they need to see results before they can respect him. His party is shyte so he needs to prove himself worthy of respect and trust. 2015 is approaching fast so he needs to work fast

firetrap: the attacks on their camps is a tactic to bring them out in the open so that our special forces and counter insurgency chaps and pick them off one by one. its like peppering a rat hole with a little smoke so that when it comes out, those waiting on the outside can kill it
I hope they do the right thing because the french forces made the same mistake in mali, allied forces made the same mistake in afghanistan etc. I trust our boys sha.
Politics › Re: Eliminating Bigotry From The Politics Section. by joeyfire(m): 7:28pm On May 17, 2013
sexkillz: Hello everyone.

If we are to eliminate bigots to the barest minimum and the resultant effects of their bigotry, we need to understand who a bigot is and why the words they use offend us and generally talk amicably about reducing the way such words are used. I think we'll better understand each other that way.

When we have established what pisses the majority off we'll understand better why people who insist on breaking the rules must be banned rightfully.

It's a rule on Nairaland not to tribalize threads or insult a tribe but we still see subtle shots being thrown. Tell us why you throw such shots, and why you feel offended when such is thrown at you. You'll understand your fellow better if you know what "really" offends him. This is necessary because you may be banned for an offence you think you should not be banned for and people who weren't there when the fracas transpired may be inclined to take sides.

Let's eliminate the chances of not getting a fair trial. I know what the mods have to ban people for, but I want us all to be on the same page.

NO INSULTS on this thread pls.

I honestly believe bigotry is a form of mental illness that results in involuntary rants. Like one ragamuffin on a thread this morning. We were all hailing the efforts of the army in battling BH in their bases when the guy out of nowhere posted that all the posters were igbo and were happy that northerners would be killed in the attack among a deluge of nonsense. I was tempted to attack him with full force but gave him a light rebuttal.

If I had abused the bagger u for ban me? Make I know
Politics › Re: Nigeria Airforce Jet Hit By Aa Fire, As 30 Militants Are Confirmed Dead by joeyfire(m): 7:09pm On May 17, 2013
I hope the army chiefs know that they shouldn't stop at destroying the bases and let these animals escape. They need to track the militants to their hiding places in urban areas and crush them there

Are you kidding? Those plonkers bought lots of that stuff from libya. Don't forget that baga was one of their armouries and the authorities found a number of vans fitted with anti-aircraft guns like the insurgents in libya and syria have.

fluteman: Most comments here are from Ibos and are quite typical and expected. Statements like " kill women and children, pregnant women" without bordering if they ar innocent just shows the typical selfish , hateful and unbalanced attitude of the people of the south east...no wonder the civil war and what heppened to them.

As soon as they got some power, they decided to invade the south west with lagos on their mind, starting from Ore, claiming they were the strongest army in Africa. well, the southwest people who were reluctant to join the war had to come out and Biafra became history

It can be said that Biafra might have succeeded if the ibos were less delusional, but alas its hardwired in their DNA and this is the reason why they will always lose out.

Coming to this subject, a discerning person will note the pattern of comments and see the easterners are taken it as a sectional issue ( as usual)instead of a security issue. some peeps are already praising Ihejirika ahead of the Army.

Hell yeah let Boko Haram be defeated by God's grace, but why wish for the total destruction of innocent people of the
North because they have terrorist amongst them? why pray for slaughter of babies and pregnant women? rape of young girls and women? because they are not Ibos?

Nemesis always catch up and what you wish for others will come back to haunt you ( as you caused before, following this same path)

For well meaning Nigerians, please pray for the success of the military and also the safety of all innocents in this conflict. May God help us all

Kei144: Did close to 500,000 Nigerian soldiers really die in Biafran war? It is high time everything that happened during that war is brought to light.
My brother I am really surprised at the figure. You know the FG has been sitting on the information all these years. I personally estimated 300,000 nigerian soldiers died. A book I read years ago by a strategic institute from switzerland put the figure at between 250,000 and 350,000.

Its a shame that the official figure may never be released
