CHM11:I don't recall him saying he would achieve NGN-USD parity this at that event but I distinctly remember him addressing the Lagos State governor as "Chief Fashola!" |
In short, PDP =APC? |
Nice analysis! Where is the conclusiom? |
Did I hear GMB say "Chief Fashola?" |
Can someone answer these question? 1. Between what hours was Jonathan in Lagos? 2. At what time did the roberry incident take place? 3. At what time did Jonathan leave Lagos for Ijebu Ode? 4. Did Jonathan leave for Ijebu Ode by road? 5. What happened to all the policemen put on stanby after Jonathan left Lagos? Didn't they return to their beats? Answers, anyone? |
Demdem:Wonderment! |
Sad. May God comfort the victims. I hope oga Fash will not blame GEJ for this one too. |
Ok, so all the police cars in Lagos were put on standby for Jonathan. What about the helicopter(s) oga Fash provided the police? Na Jona carry those ones too? I hear the robbers escaped in a speed boat. Wouldn't the choppers have been more effective in tracking them than cars? It is well! |
juman:Brilliant question! |

A group of 158 women and children abducted by Boko Haram militants in north-eastern Nigeria in December have been reunited with their families. They were kidnapped during a raid on Katarko village in Yobe state and spent about a month in captivity. The circumstances of their release are unclear but they were eventually handed over to the state authorities for counselling and rehabilitation. Officials said the reunion in the state capital, Damaturu, was jubilant. In April last year, the Islamist insurgents caused worldwide outrage when they kidnapped more than 200 girls from a boarding school in Chibok in Borno state, which borders Yobe. The schoolgirls have yet to be rescued despite military assistance from countries such as China, France, the UK and the US. 'Very happy' Of the 158 people reunited with their families, 62 were married women and the rest were children, Musa Idi Jidawa, the secretary of Yobe's State Emergency Management Agency (Sema), told the BBC. He said husbands of 16 of the women had been killed by Boko Haram during the attack. Muhammdu Katarko said he was very happy to see his two daughters at the reunion on Thursday. "I had given up when they were kidnapped; my hope was to see even their dead bodies," he told the BBC Hausa service. "But fortunately I have now seen them alive, health and hearty." One of the abductees, who requested anonymity, told reporters in Damaturu that they were treated humanely by the militants. The Chibok girls' abduction sparked a social media campaign calling for more to be done to rescue them She said the insurgents did not rape or abuse the women during their stay. The BBC's Ishaq Khalid reporting from neighbouring Bauchi state says there were conflicting accounts about how the abductees gained their freedom. Some reports suggested the insurgents released them voluntarily and took them to the outskirts of Damaturu, he says. But Mr Jidawa said the militants had come under attack from the security forces and they had run away, leaving behind their captives. The reunited families will stay in Damaturu until it is safe to return to their village, which is still occupied by Boko Haram fighters and is in an area where the military is carrying out operations. Boko Haram at a glance Founded in 2002, initially focused on opposing Western-style education - Boko Haram means "Western education is forbidden" in the Hausa language Launched military operations in 2009 to create Islamic state Thousands killed, mostly in north-eastern Nigeria - has also attacked police and UN headquarters in capital, Abuja Has abducted hundreds, including at least 200 schoolgirls Controls several north-eastern towns Has launched attacks on Cameroon http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-31551127?post_id=597875524_10155246007810525#_=_ |
gabrielahamz:Boko Haram is already receiving funding and training from ISIS! |
Vado:I wonder if this makes Obama clueless? |
ajoguegbe:God bless you! There is what has been termed "politicial disenchantment" which is a recent global phenomenon. It has influenced the recent change of government in Greece for instance where the people effected a change to remove the austerity yoke. Now the newly elected goverment is running from pillar to post trying to keep campaign promises. The surge in popularity of paeties like UKIP in UK and the SNP in Scotland also underscore this phenomenon. Angela Merkel's party in Germany did not find the last elections easy. Recent mid term elections which saw the Republicans take majority in Congress is yet another example. |
Obiagelli:Bola Ige had had been a UPN governor of Oyo State |

INDONESIA Exactly 100 days after a popular victory at the polls swept the current Indonesian President, Joko Widodo into office. the people are now wondering if things have really changed. The first two salvos he fired were hailed by his people. The first was the decision to blow up foreign fishing vessels found in his nation's territorial waters. This decision initially met with resistance from his navy who refused to carry out the order at least two times before Mr. Widodo asserted his authority as Commander-In-Chief. Now Widodo claims his country's fishermen are better for it even though he has stepped on the toes of his neighboring countries. The second salvo was the decision to execute convicted drug dealers. Unfortunately, a Nigerian was among the first casualties of this decision which led to the recall of the ambassadors of Brazil and Netherlands and protests from the governments of Nigeria and Australia - all of whose nationals are among the convicts. A third salvo was not so palatable to his people. Widodo has followed the examples of India and Malaysia by removing subsidy on petrol resulting in 30 percent increase in petrol prices. Protests against the removal lasted no longer than a week before dissipating. |
I was just watching the live broadcast of APC's Presidential Rally on Ilorin when all of a sudden a man appeared on the screen reading a prepared text in what seems to be Arabic. The man, wearing a brown suit, mentioned the word 'Magreb' Since then the station has been showing some other stuff. Any other person notice this? |
What it means is that the party is not presenting a candidate for the post in contention. Such party expects its members to vote for the adopted candidate on the election day. If any voter thumbprints beside the logo of a party (e.g. APGA) that is not presenting a candidate for that post, such a vote is invalid and would not count even in the party has adopted a candidate. In the example you have cited, APGA members must thumbprint beside the PDP logo for their vote to count. INEC is not bound by any agreements made between political parties in terms of coalition, etc. That is why ANPP, CPC and A CN ceased to exist when APC was formed. A greater danger in adopting candidates is that your members may end up voting for the other party is elections into other posts hold on the same day. This is one of the factors that led AD to lose states to PDP in 2003. AD adopted Obasanjo (the PDP candidate) as their presidential candidate for the elections. Unfortunately, a significant number of AD members went ahead to vote PDP candidates for other posts. I read recentlly that Gov Obaino sacked one of his aides for a jingle which asked people to vote PDP (I.e Jonathan) without properly explaining that they should vote APGA for other posts. I hope this helps. |
deebrain:Do you realsie that you sound like those who said "lI am voting for Jonathan not PDP" in 2011? |
demandtruth:Demandtruth, don't beg Tinubu. Demand the slot! |
