anonimi: My main problem with the 16 years of APC administration in Lagos is they have their priorities completely wrong- focusing on the shiny WOW things while the basic, common place items such as education, health, water and roads are not duly addressed.
Meanwhile I thought Lagos STATE is the state of excellence, I hope I did not get that wrong Are you suggesting that providing fire hydrants (even if not in all locations) is a "wow" project? Anyone whose life or property is saved using those hydrants will never agree with you. |

akins56: Saraki might be the biggest loser, though he his the biggest winner currently, but we all know his biggest ambition is to be the nations number 1, he might have dent this ambition with his desperate moves in past few days
I think saraki might have won now, but he just make his chance of becoming Nigeria's president in the future more difficult! Gbam! The same "over ambition" that did Tinubu in will come back and haunt Saraki when the time comes. There is a point where over-ambition/desperation gets you to that you become bad market. Atiku's desperation took him to Action Congress and later back to PDP and he became bad market! Ribadu's desperation took him to CAN and later PDP and he became bad market. Odili's over ambition has led to his "early retirement" Tinubu and co sowed the wind and have begun to reap the whirlwind. Saraki's time will come! BTW I think Atiku had a major hand in Saraki's victory as payback for Action Congress' treachery in 2007- they surreptitiously supported Yar Adua. It was the same thing they did to Ribadu in 2011. In 2011, they gave Bafarawa and one other candidate assurances that they would get the ticket only to draft Ribadu in. The same Ribadu suffered treachery in their hands during the elections. |

Politics › Re: Alleged 19.2bn Fraud: Court Dismisses Charge Against Sylva by johnie: 3:25pm On Jun 10, 2015 |
Gavel: Guys, I implore you to read the news article and properly digest it. It says the court dismissed the criminal charge for "abuse of court process." Now, a criminal charge (and indeed any case at all) is said to be an abuse of court process if it is instituted and amounts to an annoying, frivolous or vexatious act. The best paradigm of an abuse of court process is if a charge or case is duplicated before a court of different courts on the same issue and seeking the same reliefs. Where this happens, the court is duty-bound, even suo motu (on its own) to strike out or dismiss the case for amounting to an abuse of court process. I believe the EFCC should be blamed here for bringing multiple charges on the same alleged offences. The EFCC should put its house in order and stop bungling criminal prosecutions. Thanks for the explanation but do you think EFCC's action is not deliberate? |

Brilliant! Anonimi, I deliberately used the word 'metropolis.' Like I said 'I know they are not all over but as time goes on I expect more. I have seen them in various places where roads have been rebuilt.' I expect that as more areas are properly rebuilt the hydrant network will spread. |

utumunta: The only way APC can avert what is coming to them is to work the new leadership of NASS.
Some of you don't really know what played out at NASS. Atiku Abubakar ensured that what happened did happen in the Senate with the help of the PDP Senators.
It is time Buhari jettisons the idea of Amaechi as the SGF or he has succeeded in handing over his Government to 'the enemies within'. His best bet is Ogbonnaya Onu, who shall be a stabilising force.
There is already a gang-up against Buhari, in a bid to control him. Tinubu too is not working for Buhari. He is rather working to cage Buhari. You are right. Npdp and Tinubu camps are working to cage Buhari. Onu is his best and safest bet. I think Okorocha has another candidate though. |

Politics › Re: Why ACN Supported Tambuwal - Tinubu by johnie: 5:06pm On Jun 09, 2015 |
EkoIle1: That was their party's internal wahala and I care less. The opposition remains the opposition and will always do what's best for their party and people back home.
Obviously, there was no incentive for the ACN to back the SW PDP candidates.
You are not a true opposition and you have no business as the opposition if all you do is create opportunities and advantages for your opponents. You checkmate your opposition to gain advantage, create leverage and bargaining power to effectively deliver for your people back home.
This is politics and the way it's supposed to be played. What goes around comes around! |
Politics › Re: Why ACN Supported Tambuwal - Tinubu by johnie: 5:04pm On Jun 09, 2015 |
EkoIle1: It's very obvious what they are doing. There was zero self interest because no personal gains was involved. The idea was to strengthen their position within the chambers in Abuja and gain advantage politically back home in the SW.
1. Depriving the SW candidates the leadership positions in Abuja discounts and negate their influence back home
2. The sent a message through the hall of power in Abuja that they are a force to be reckoned with back home and in Abuja
3. Strengthening their positions and amazing political leverage, IOUs and favors enables them to bargain for federal attention back home in terms of infrastructures and other dividends.
4. There was nothing to gain for the ACN as a political party and on behalf of the people back home by going along with the PDP establishment, their job is to deny them political advantages, not help and give it to them.
5 A divided PDP makes their their job easier, not harder.
The elected PDP House leadership are now indebted to the ACN some some favors so I see smooth sailing for some ACN sponsored bills in the house.
All in all, it was a good move on their part. Eko, do you still hold these views? |
