Divorce!!

manny4life: Expert, please explain to the novice without knowledge what an invitation is.
U still didn't answer the question. Apparently you have no clue what an invitation actually means regardless if its formal or informal.
Stay your ass at home if you're not invited. How hard is that? If you were such a close friend, I bet you would have gotten some form of invitation!
FamilyRe: Will You Attend A Friend's Wedding If You Were Not Invited? by johnkent(m): 3:47pm On Nov 28, 2012
manny4life: Exactly!

@OP, close friends don't need invitation, and whatever happened to asking? Formal invitation has it's own limitation, in fact the friends seeking formal invitation disappointed me. Formal invitation is just a respectful way of asking someone to do you the honor of coming out to your event which applies to people who you may or may not know directly.
Go look up the definition of an invitation and then come back and repost.
FamilyRe: Will You Attend A Friend's Wedding If You Were Not Invited? by johnkent(m): 3:46pm On Nov 28, 2012
Unknown Member: It will depend on what I suspect to be the reason for my not being invited.. If it is malicious or just an omission.
What is malicious about someone not inviting you to their wedding?? Weddings are expensive and most people can't afford to feed y'all. Sit your ass home if you're not invited!!
FamilyRe: Will You Attend A Friend's Wedding If You Were Not Invited? by johnkent(m): 3:44pm On Nov 28, 2012
You don't attend a wedding you're not invited to regardless of how close you are to the bride or groom. If they really want you there, you would have been invited.
CelebritiesRe: Uti Nwachukwu Is Gay And Alex Ekubo Is His Partner? by johnkent(m): 12:26am On Oct 04, 2012
What a shame. Whoever wrote this article is pretty much upset about something and it is very shameful that he/she would write up such a load of BS. This is all hear say. Nothing on here proves that Uti and Alex are in a relationship or Gay. What if they are? Who cares? Why should I care??
We have more issues in Nigeria to complain about and all you want to talk about is about someone's sexuality? Are you freaking kidding me?
I don't know Uti or Alex but apparently they must be successful young men in Nigeria to be getting such attention. It's apparent that whomever wrote this article must be out to get Uti for reasons best known to him/her and the only way he could figure out to do it is was to smear his reputation.
I think we educated young Nigerians (which most folks on nairaland are) should get over the issue of homosexuality and people's sexuality and concentrate on things that actually do matter. We have a government that's failing us but we want to talk about someone else’s sexuality? Let’s get our priorities straight guys.
Uti didn’t have to respond to this stupid article and I'm actually surprised that he did. All it does is give the writer of this article the leverage to spew more hate against him and also denigrate those Nigerians that might be Gay.
At first, I thought the article was funny but as I kept reading it, all I saw was hate, anger, frustration and a sense of rejection from the writer
It’s so sad that both young men will have to go through such scrutiny for absolutely no reason.
Things like this make me wonder how we can move forward in Nigeria if our youths are more concerned about none issues like this.
God bless Nigeria.

kodeblurr: Goodday my fellow Nairalanders

Thanks for all your contribution you've been giving here on Nairaland.

Please I need your advise on this; I just completed my nysc and intend furthering my career in Canada on any related course to my field, I read computer science back in school I have a broda in Canada (toronto). I have written to a school in toronto humber college but no luck in getting any reply. I need a school in Canada close to toronto where accomodation wouldn't be a problem for me since I will be stayin with my broda. I'd appreciate if you know any school which ofcoz d tuition fee is not too much and situated close to ontario toronto, please I need procedures as my broda in Canada is too busy to help me on the lookout, he only advised I look for a public college as I graduated with 2.2 and intend applying for a work visa after college. I have googled the internet for answers, still to no avail. Please help me here

My email: kodeblurr@yahoo.com
If your brother isn't willing to help you, I doubt if anyone would. That's my two cents. Goodluck

dr_dolittle: KK...I thought the same thing too but I needed a superior Nairalander to confirm my thoughts..Thanks a lot brov.
You've never been to the states before and I'll totally advise that you fly into the nearest airport to your school. Whomever this friend is, they should be mailing the package through UPS or FEDEX and leave ya alone.
You can't already be complaining of not having sufficient funds for a plane ticket when you are expected to pay for the length of your program without working more than 20hours/wk on-campus.
Again, I'll advise you leave the freaking package in Nigeria and think about YOURSELF first. Trust me, the whole getting on greyhound bus is not as easy as it seems.

Regarding the I-90, make sure u go with you to the embassy a copy of ur return ticket back to Nigeria and If possible, also actually boarding passes. This would show that u did leave the States before the date on the I-90.

leadzeal: Hello house,

I have been following this thread for quite some time and I must confess it has prove productive. I am a fall 2012 applicant, just at the verge of rounding up my NYSC.
I need some little clarification:

1. I was in the us of a as at 2008 just for about a week. But I forgot to drop my I-90(I guess that's wat is caLled.) Just a little white slip.ve come to understand that this imply have not left the states yet. I don't know wat this might pose, but the good news is that I still got it.do u guys think I can still do anyti abt it b4 my intended date of interview?

2. My passport wud b expiring Dec of this year. Have not yet book an interview date yet. Is it advisable I do a new one entirely if that's possible.? because i was meant to understand that the passport shld still be valid 6 months after your Intended study duration.

3. Can one pay the sevis fee for oneself and a colleague in seme(cotonou)? Is it permitted by the bank(ecobank)?

Guys wake up!!! first i can bet my bum that this delegation will not be less than 250 persons, from my state house operations experience once its a trip to UK EVERYBODY and i mean it EVERYBODY including aso rock cook will want to attend. Foreign affairs delegation, Nepad delegation, special adviser to the president on africa matters, all security details, media sponsored by the presidency , then i hope u know that most times the president travels he is accompanied by some state govs and their entourage as well, pls Our own amiable first lady and her entourage are also going. I can bet anything that the 47 are just those traveling for the first time to the UK in the delegation, most govt officials /big men in Nigeria have mostly btw 2yr-10yrs UK visa,. The delegation at best is nothing less than 220 and pls and pls i am speaking as someone who know "a bit" of what is going on.
In any case why this discussion? is any body in doubt about the profligate lifestyle of this govt? This govt is a waster and a waste in its self.
Austerity measures for the citizens yet SINATORS are getting delivery of their $100,000 jeeps.
Don't be deceived Nothing good can ever come out of a totally corrupt govt its just a vicious circle of arrested development.   To those who say Somalia is our business of course it is, but when the German chancellor visited Nigeria how many people came with her?  she had less than 15 people on her delegation from germany including her security, that is why you have embassies in those countries, so that they can attend to the presidents need when he comes to that country . Shikena!!
She probably couldn't find anyone willing to go to Nigeria with her. J/K

You can ban G A Y relationships all you want but you cant get rid of it because folks are BORN G A Y just like we were born BLACK! You can't control your sexual orientation or race and Nigerian members of congress need to understand that.

If the government had said they wouldnt recognize g a y unions/marriage, trust me, we wont be having this conversation. But the various attachments to this bill does violate basic human rights. Most of you guys advocating for this bill in its present form could become a victim of it. You could be accused of being g a y because you don't have a girlfriend/boyfriend and you have a room mate of thesame gender. Before you know it, U might be standing in front of a judge trying to defend yourself and FYI: there's no test to prove that one is or isnt g a y. Lets be very very careful.

No g a y guy in Nigeria is asking anyone to marry them. They just want to live their lives just like everyone else without fear of persecution!
Again, if you're not g a y, then don't sleep with a man.
PoliticsRe: Why the "Anti-Gäy Marriage Bill" is Wrong by johnkent(m): 6:13am On Dec 13, 2011
Just FYI: The US state department has made it clear to the Jonathan Administration in the last week that if this bill in its current form becomes law, US visas to Nigerian officials and members of congress might be CANCELLED and expired visas might not be renewed.
Britain and other European countries are very much on the same page with the Yankees and I hear the Nigerian politicians are not liking this at all.
I'm just gonna sit back and see how this unfolds!!!

PoliticsRe: Why the "Anti-Gäy Marriage Bill" is Wrong by johnkent(m): 6:43am On Dec 12, 2011
This is the height of ignorance!!!! Because you don't understand something, doesn't mean it shouldn't exist.
I'm just gonna sit back and see how banning man-lover relationships in Nigeria is going to make Nigeria a much better place. Its so sad how we Africans in the west are fighting for human rights especially rights of women and children in Africa and in the middle East but our folks back home think its okay to send someone to jail for 14 years because of his/her intimate orientation.
I just wished Nigerians would sit back, relax and think this through before they make such an irrational decision. Sending G A Y to Jail isn't going to solve the numerous problems we have in Nigeria. G A Y will be pressured into marrying your sisters and they would still turn around and sleep with boyz on the side because that's who they are (G A Y ).
Its unfortunate that most of you guys on here are so convinced about how bad G A Y 's are but you've never been in contact with a G A Y person. You'll be surprised to know that some of the people that you love and folks that have made huge impacts in your lives might be G A Y . These are humans just like us. They are not some human from outta space.
All this talk about lets send them to jail for 14 years but have you ever thought about what if your brother/sister was G A Y ? Would you have him/her sent to jail because of their se xu al orientation? Would u disown your brother because of his se xu al orientationhuh
we need to get our priorities straight. Nobody in the Nigeria G A Y community was asking to be married so I really dont understand why this should be an issue at this point in time. We can ban homosexuality all we want but we can't get rid of it. People are born G A Y and trust me, most of them that i've talked have always said if being G A Y was a choice, why would they even choose to be G A Y ? And that is a question that we need to ask ourselves. Why would a good looking college basketball player choose to be G A Y when he could pretty much be with whatever chick he wants on campus? Why would a rich G A Y man do thesame?

The thing about this bill is not only does it ban man-lover marriage but it contains other little laws that could be used against any Nigerian. Anyone could come up tomorrow and accuse any one of us of being G A Y r and maybe having ties to a G A Y organization and before you know it, we might be sentenced to 14 years in Jail. We have to be very careful what we wish for. There are alot of things men in Nigeria do that could be construed as a G A Y behavior when that usually isn't their intention but that could be used against you if this bill passes. Again, we have to be very careful what we wish for. If this bill does become law, you might be ending up in jail for hugging a friend, sharing an apartment with a friend or even holding hands with a friend of same sex like Nigerians have always done without thinking anything of it.

Guys as educated folks, we need to think this through. Don't let the members of congress up there use this bill as a way to distract us from more important issues that needs to be addressed.
When was the last time any member of congress was fired up about education, healthcare, poverty, childhood poverty, electricity, corruption, high unemployment rate? keep thinking!!
Why are they so fired up about something that's never going to change the lives of any Nigerian? Don't be fooled my fellow Nigerians. I bet ya billions of naira has been siphoned outta the country in the last month while you guys keep arguing about a non issue!

Lets be smart and not be played by the politicians.

How would we feel if the next Muslim president of Nigeria tries to impose his Islamic/sharia views on Nigeria because he/she believes its whats best for Countryhuh
This whole hate on Gays and Lesbians are all based on religious views. You can have your religious views but atleast also understand that other folks do have different views.
I wished the Nigerian government would focus more on issues that affect an average Nigerian (High unemployment, poverty, Healthcare, education).

FamilyRe: Is My Wife Taking Advantage Of Me ? by johnkent(m): 12:03am On Aug 25, 2011
Age is not the issue here. Your wife made the house girl comment which i know a lot of nigerian women say all the time. The main issue here is why she made ya move out of your room so she could have her sister have a much comfortable stay with u guys.  I dont think she did it because she was trying to boss you around, but because she just tried to be nice to her sister for the few days she was gonna be with you guys.

Dude, You know if your wife loves you or not. This little issues shouldn't be an issue. if you had a problem with moving to the other room, why didn't u talk to her about ithuh??
Don't let people on here tell you stupid and crazy stuff. Small age difference like yours has nothing to do with the outcome of a marriage.
